I am getting weird delivery delayed notifications from postmaster@mac.***

When I send my wife an email to her icloud/me/mac.com address, recently I started getting notices from postmaster@mac.*** that say delivery has been delayed and that the email account I'm trying to reach is over quota. Yet, my wife gets the email and insists she's cleaning out her inbox.
The really weird thing is, the email notice contains a "recipient address" and an "original address." The "original address" is my wife's email, but the "recipient address" is a weird google address.
My father-in-law says he's getting the same strange notices, but no one else she's emailing with seems to be having the same problem.
I'm just concerned because of the weird google address.
Help.

It's not malware.
What's going on is one of two things. One possibility would be e-mail spoofing. Spammers almost never send messages from a legit address. They usually fake the From line, adding someone else's e-mail address there. You could be the lucky victim. Of course, that wouldn't explain those messages only going to people you have contacted, but as you haven't given us many details, I'm unsure that this isn't simply coincidence that you're misinterpreting.
The other possibility would be that a hacker still has access to your account. I'm not familiar with Hotmail, but some free e-mail services have features that can provide a hacker a back door. For example, on GMail, there is a setting that allows you to grant access to other people... so once a hacker has access to your GMail account, they can set it so that they can get back in any time, and changing your password will not help one bit. Hotmail may have some similar weakness.
It could also be that your account is getting hacked repeatedly. Hotmail accounts are known for being easily hacked, though I don't know whether this is an inherent weakness in Hotmail or just due to having a large population of unsavvy users who use weak passwords. In any case, it's a high-profile target. Are you using secure passwords or weak passwords? Are you frequently accessing your Hotmail account over an unsecured wireless network?

To each his own. I own Outlook, but I avoid using it like the plague. The only Mac mail software I have liked better than Apple's Mail was Qualcomm's Eudora, which is no longer updated or even available, won't run without Rosetta, and unfortunately never quite got the hang of IMAP.
Check out this post regarding this user's continuing use of Eudora on his Lion MacBook:
    Shield Eudora from Lion's Claws
A thousand thanks and kudos to Michael for this fabulously excellent thread!
Eudora's now happy in her new Snow Leopard VM home on my Lion ModBook!
Appears essential to keep resource-forked data off Lion disk:
First attempt with Eudora on SL VM was sharing data on Lion disk. Error messages on open like "can't find Table of Contents" suggest Lion ate resource forks crucial to Eudora.
Found success by transferring data from SL Mac to thumb drive, then mounted drive in SL VM so Lion couldn't touch.
While Michael warns against storing data in VM, appears there's no choice with Eudora. At least She's enthroned on a mirrored RAID.
There is Nothing like Eudora! (to tune of "There is Nothing Like a Dame" from South Pacific -- Oops! my gray hair is showing!)
(It's amazing Parallels can force Lion to store taboo resource forks. Thank God for code warriors!)

  • I'm getting mail delivery failure notifications quoting email addresses I don't recognize. Is someone using my server identity?

Hi. I've been getting several email delivery failure notifications recently. I don't recognize the email addresses quoted. Is it possible that someone has hacked into my mail account?

Either that, or someone is forging your reply address on mail that wasn't sent from your account at all. To tell the difference, you would have to log into your mail account on the Web and check for unusual activity.

  • Can't get rid of Facebook notifications from somone elses account

I upgraded my imac27 to 10.8.4. My wife logged into her facebook account through Safari on my iMac and now I cannot get rid of her facebook notifications from showing up in notification center. She is not logged in to facebook on my computer and I have gone into her account on facebook and killed all of her sessions, but they still show up, even when Safari isn't running. There seems to be other bugs in notification center as well. For instance for facebook I have the box Un-Checked for "Show in Notification Center", and it shows as "Not in Notification Center", but I still get my wife's notifications.

It's actually controlled in System Preferences - Mail/Contacts/Calendars. Locate the Facebook account there and remove it.

    Hi simekdebbie,
What is happening when you try? Are you trying to sync? Do you have Automatic Downloads for Music turned on under Settings>iTunes & App Store on your device?
We need a little more info on what you are trying to do and what is happening.

  • How do I get rid of phone contacts "From my Mac" so I can only see iCloud contacts

Since I have upgraded to iOS 5 and now use iCloud for my contacts, how do I get rid of the From my Mac contacts on my iPhone and iPad?
My contacts show groups from both my Mac and from iCloud.

connect the iPhone to the mac, go to iTunes, select the iPhone, in the info tab uncheck the option to sync your contacts. sync now.
Make sure you do a backup(of the iPhone and Mac address book) before you do this. you might need to play a bit with it. If you mess up you will be able to just restore.
i had to try several things before i got the proper iCloud sync working without having to deal with duplicate contacts.

  • Force delivery of emails from postmaster

    Hi,
i'd like to force the delivery of all the mails coming from postmaster to any user (mainly bounce messages). I found the tcp_tas channel but how can i use it to obtain what i need ?
    regards
    luigi

Bounce messages should be delivered in any case. Shouldn't be any need to "force" that.
If you need more, search the doc for "guranteed delivery" for how to set it up.

When I tried to open to files on my PC, the files were recognized as QuickTime files but they would not play. It said the files were of a type that quicktime does not understand. Do I need some sort of Mac to PC file converter?

  • How to get a Delivery note number from a picklist ?

    Hello friends,
I'm setting up an alert for a customer, the purpose is to send a notification whenever a new Delivery note is generated from a pick list, what I thought of is to retrieve the baseDoc number from OPKL ( the pick lists table) which would give me the DocNum of the Order Document number, and then I could get the TargetEntry of this Order , but i'm not sure if it is the best solution, since an order can generate several Deliveries, and with this method I could only get one,
What I need is a simple way to link OPKL to ODLN.
    Thanks in advance,
    Amin

The solution I was thinking of did work actually, and the fact that the link is made on the lines ensures that all the target documents are brought.
    Select Distinct
    T0.AbsEntry As 'Pick List',
    T2.DocNum 'Delivery',
    T1.OrderEntry As 'Order',
    T0.[Name] As 'Creator',
    T0.CreateDate As 'Creation Date',
    T0.PickDate As 'Pick date',
    from OPKL T0
    INNER JOIN PKL1 T1 ON T0.AbsEntry = T1.AbsEntry
    INNER JOIN DLN1 T3 ON T3.BaseEntry=T1.OrderEntry
    INNER JOIN ODLN T2 ON T2.DocEntry = T3.DocEntry
    Order BY T0.AbsEntry DESC
    Kind regards
    Amin

  • Getting mail delivery status notification (failure) for emails I did not send.

I've started getting these notices for emails I didn't send. They contain attachments consisting of snippets of prose, like the attachments used to seed malware in Windows computers. Does apple have any protection/removal software for this sort of problem?

    cadillacjoe69 wrote:
That might be tough to do. Is there a rule I can use to help. The mail messages are so varied.
I'd look at the headers (View -> Message -> Long Headers) to see if there's anything in common, then try to create a rule based on that.
By the way, welcome to Apple's discussion groups.

  • Delivery of Notifications from Carriers?

    Hi All,
I have recently used a few different carriers (Tre Italy and Orange UK) withmy iPad and iPad 2 while travelling.
Both of these carriers have been able to push notifications (i.e. credit, promotionsect) to my iPad. As iPad aren't able to receive SMS messages, I wonder if anyonecould help on how these messages are delivered / sent by the carrier?
    Any help is much appreciated!
    Cheers,

Notifications are through a server at Apple and do not use SMS.

  • Approving workflow notifications from Apple Mac machines

    Hi All,
We have end user who is using Mac system and he is not able to approve the invoice from WF notification email.
When he clicks on the Approve link the auto-response is opening in his GMail account.
He is getting the ‘Warning – Unsolicited Email’ response when he sends the response.
Is there any specific setup for configuration which is required on the user side or on the server side to get rid of this issue.
    Thanks in Advance,
    MJ

Gtalk plugin has a setting which enables gmail user to click on any mail links and open gmail. Probably this setting is interfering with Approval notification. Disable this setting in gtalk and see.
