I am going away for 3 weeks and want to take only my I Phone
Is there a way of removing pictures taken with I Phone 5 to maintain storage but still access them at a later date on a different device? I have a Mac Pro and I Pad Mini? Would using Cloud settings be of any use? as you can tell i am not very tech minded cloud, camera roll etc has confused me!

Hi BillieBo,
It sounds like you are wanting to keep the photos you are taking on your trip somewhere besides the iPhone, without having physical access to your other devices, is that right?
Fortunately there is an iCloud service, called My Photo Stream, which makes this easy for you. See this FAQ -
My Photo Stream FAQ - Apple Support
It is important to note that pictures are only stored in My Photo Stream for 30 days. You should be sure to transfer your pictures to other devices before that time limit.
This page will tell you how to set up iCloud on your iPhone -

This page will give you some ideas about the other photographic services available through iCloud -

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

Hi, I'm new at this but I am hoping someone can help me.I have recently been away for 5 weeks and my Tom Tom required updating. When I clicked to update it, it required a pc. As I didn't have access to a pc it wouldn't work is there any way to do this without a pc? I was without this app for 3 weeks! Thanks, Lea
The process to update your Tom Tom is a big data file, you will need to be connected to a Wi-Fi network for it to download. If will take about an hour.

I have been away for 2 weeks and a message appears on my iPad which is preventing me open my iPad. "iCloud backup. This iPad has not been backed up in 2 weeks. Backups happen when this iPad is plugged in, locked and connected to Wi-Fi" Help?
What do I do to get rid of this message as it is preventing me accessing the iPad or closing it down?
Thanks

Hold Sleep and Home buttons for 10 seconds until your device restarts, so you will be able to use your device again. Finally, open Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup, and make a backup. The device will be backed up when it's plugged to the charger and connected to your network -
I was away for 3 weeks and just got back. Put my Mac on charge and after 4 hours it still won't come on. Help

Had turned off all power supply incase a socket blew. (happened before) so my mbp was on sleep
You should have turned your MBP off! Keeping it on sleep w/o use for 3 weeks makes no sense. As others have already stated, you will need to take your comp to a repair shop. More than likely you need a new battery. -
Sometimes it will stay at the apple screen and sometimes it just shuts back off. The battery is fully charged.

I'm pretty sure it's mountain lion. Neither of your links worked tho, but thanks for trying! I'm new to Macs and only really know the basics of how to use it. When I power on and hold the option key I can chose to recover my Mac. What will that do? Will I lose pictures and stuff? I just went to Mexico and all my pics are on there and I'd hate to lose them, also lots of pics of my little boy.
Hmmmm, they are both working for me. What happened when you clicked on the links? Any error messages? -
I am trying to take songs from my PC AND My Itunes account and send them to my husband's IPOD TOUCH First Generation BUT I don't want to change my whole ITUNES account that is already on my computer. When I plug HIS Ipod Touch into the PC, my ITUNES account wants me to CHANGE the DEVICE Name on the account and I don't want to do that. I only want to share SOME of my songs on my Itunes account and send them to h is IPOD TOUCH? Is this possible and HOW! Thanks a ton!!! I "checked" off the songs that I want to send but that's as far as I get before it asks me to change the Device Name?
Is his iPod usually synced to a different iTunes library/computer? If so, that would explain the message iTunes is giving you. An iPod is designed to sync with only one computer/iTunes library at a time. If you try to sync it with a new library, the iPod's contents will be erased and replaced with what is in the newer/different iTunes library.
So if there is content you would like to add to his iPod, simply transfer it from your iTunes library to his.

Re: LaserJet M1212nf -- going away for a month
We're going away for a month and wonder if there is anything we should do to maintain the machine at optimal quality (such as storing the black cartridge in a special way)? Also, can we turn off the power to the machine?
Thanks. You don't need to do anything with it at all, toner is completely stable and storable just like it is in your printer. The only thing that can hurt it is; getting it wet or light. So you are actually more likely to have something go wrong with storing the cartridge out of the printer then in it... Powering it off will not hurt anything either...

I have a Mac OS X Snow Leopard version and my fan keeps coming on. I have been away for a week so it has not been used and yet when I started it up the fan started straight away. Is there anything I can do? Please help! Thanks
Yes, look in Activity Monitor (Applications /Utilities /Activity Monitor.app) and see what it eating up all the %CPU. If anything is over 40%, post the name here to get advice or just kill it straight away with the red 'Quit' button.
If nothing is using up CPU resources, but the fans are going full blast, do an SMC reset. Read the instructions here:

My daughter is going to Canada for a week and i would like to know if it will cost extra for her to text and/or call someone in the United States?
http://businessportals.verizonwireless.com/international/traveling_to/North_America/Canada.html
69 cents a minute for calls, texts covered under an existing texting plan or the standard pay per text rate if you don't have one.
If you're traveling in Canada, contact Customer Service at 800-922-0204 from any landline phone.
Global Picture and Video Messages are billed at the same per-message rate as though they were sent from the U.S. Accordingly, you can send/receive Picture and Video Messages with customers of:
Verizon Wireless (domestic rates/bundles apply)
Other domestic carriers (domestic rates/bundles apply)
Canadian, Mexican and Puerto Rican carriers (domestic rates/bundles apply)
Select International carriers (global rates apply)
When sending or receiving there's an additional data transport charge billed at the destination's Data Pay per Use Rate multiplied by the size of the Picture or Video, which can vary greatly.
A data network is required to send picture or video outside the U.S. See the Data Roaming List for eligible destinations.
Attempts to send Pictures or Videos are charged, even if the delivery fails.
Text Messages sent or received while in Canada, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands are billed as though you were in the U.S.
Check out our Nationwide plus Canada plans if you frequently call or travel to Canada. -
My macbook from 2008 which I bought used worked fine for 3 weeks and then suddenly it started restarting and now it restarts, goes to grey apple screen and a code saying something about a kernel panic appears and it restarts again and again. Help?
Restart the computer and immediately hold the Option key down.
Select the Recovery partition and continue.
On the next pane, select Disk Utility and continue.
When DU opens, select your hard drive in the left column, click the First Aid tab, the click Repair Disk.
When that is done, quit DU and restart in the usual way. -
Going away for a month with no Macbook
So, I'm going away for a month to Scotland/Europe and not able to take my Macbook Pro (13", late 2010 model, snow Leopard 10.6.8) because last time I took it, it broke and had to be fixed and I was only able to cause it was under warranty. So, I'm going to shut my Macbook down and I've heard things like put the battery down to 50% or whatever. I want to come back to this working cause I'm afraid to take it with me incase it breaks, though I'm pretty sure it broke cause I accidentally left it on sleep for 2 weeks, but is there anything special I should do or will me shutting it down at 100% battery be enough? Thanks!
Ideally, a place where it is room temperature (68º to 75º F.) If you have air conditioning then set the AC temp to around 80º. That's what I set mine at when we are gone for long periods of time. Seems to be OK for all of my computers including several notebooks. Modify accordingly if you away during the winter months. If your home is not air conditioned (my condolences ) then some place dark is usually good.
Apple's recommendation for storage is
Storage temperature: –13° to 113° F (–24° to 45° C)
So, if you keep within those extremes you should be OK. -
I am heading overseas shortly for 10 weeks and would like to suspend my email account on my imac desktop but still receive my emails on my ipad while away. If I take my desktop computer emails offline, will this do it for me.
Fozzee46You may have to contact your email provider or ISP, though you may be able to set up the email account to be used via the portable device you could carry with you in your travels, but access may vary, depending on the data plan you have, if cellular based; if not try a web-mail based account such as gmail and see if your other mail can be forwarded so you can check it via browser online.
I'm sure there are some options, ones I'd probably not consider. You may find that if your iPad and Mac desktop share an account or sync, email would still be in the Mac's account once it gets back online to the email server.
Some variables likely exist, so beyond this, I won't speculate further.
Good luck in this and safe travels! -
Should I unplug my iMac if I will be away for a week?
Should I unplug my iMac if I will be away for a week?
I would, if it were turned off. Just in case power surges decide to visit you during that week. Same with printer and anything else not on a surge protector and not nedded while you are gone.

Help! I just installed the latest update on my IPhone 4 and now I can't access my podcasts. When I hit the podcast I on, the screen goes blank for a second and then opens to the home screen with all my icons. What happened?
Try a reset which is similar to a computer restart and is done by pressing and holding the home button and the sleep/wake or on/off button simultaneously you see the Apple logo and then release.

Hi,
I am getting a warning message on screen, saying that myiPad hasn't been backed up to iCloud for two weeks, and advising under what circumstances the message appears. My problem is, is that I have backed it up, but am unable to remove the message, and whilst the message is there, the iPad is frozen, and I cannot do anything.
Has any other user had such a problem, and if so, how did they rectify it.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
clarinet99Try this.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up
