I am going to upgrade from leopard to snow leopard ( I just purchased the snow leopard disk today). Will I be able to keep my data and third party programs after installation?

This is my first time using the Apple Support Communities. After installing/upgrading to snow leopard from disk will I lose my data and my third party programs like Adobe Indesign?

You could if you don't backup everything to an external drive first. Always backup your important data before upgrading from one Mac OS to the next.

lr and pse are both cross-platform apps so you can use both pc and mac versions with those programs.

It cannot. Your iPod is a format that is neither readable or writeable by a PC. The only way to make it possible is to use some sort of third party software such as XPlay.

I was going to upgrade from 10.6.8 to mavericks 10.9.2, but the installer program notified me stating my appleworks 6 app will not run on the new set up. is there a procedure to keep or switch my documents in order to obtain the mavericks upgrade?

I suggest that you clone your current drive with 10.6.8 to an external drive. If you have any issues after upgrading to Mavericks, you can boot back into 10.6.8.
Both of these applications can be used to create a clone. If you need help creating your clone, let us know.

How do I upgrade from iMac8,1 OS X 10.5.8 to Snow Leopard? I was told it was a piece of cake, but my maschine says that no upgrade is available.
Where to buy or download the Snow Leopard? Havn't found any file on Apple site and elsewhere they does not work?

Then, make a Time Machine backup and/or a clone with Carbon Copy Cloner, insert the DVD and upgrade.
After upgrading, open  > Software Update to install the most recent version. Your Mac is compatible with OS X Mountain Lion, so if you want to upgrade to this version, open App Store and purchase Mountain Lion. As far as upgrading goes, you will not have that option for CS3 as it is not in the upgrade path for CS6. You will have to purchase the full version of CS6. I don't know if buying the disk is still an option, but if you have to you can download the installation file(s) and copy to a removeable media and install using that. In order to activate it you will have to perform an offline activation.

You cannot use the standard desktop Snow Leopard upgrade on a machine running any flavor of OS X Server. There is a lot of 'under-the-hood' functionality that would not take well to attempting this and could render you with a dead Mac until you reinstall the original OS.
If you wish to keep the Server functionality, the Snow Leopard Server upgrade ($499) is the only option.
If you wish to ditch the Server functionality and use the standard desktop version, you would need a copy of the desktop version of OS X 10.5 Leopard and the ($29) Snow Leopard upgrade. Apple does sell both 10.5 and the Snow Leopard upgrade in a combo bundle.

Since upgrading from Lion to Mountain Lion, when I login 1 of 2 disk images I have set to open on login does not mount.

Since upgrading from Lion to Mountain Lion, when I login 1 of 2 disk images I have set to open on login does not mount. It worked under Lion. Stickies opens just fine. The disk images are sparse disk bundles. Are there any suggested remedies? I have already tried repairing permissions. One interesting thing is that previously in LIon, the disk images were just sparse images, not sparse bundles. I switched to bundles after reading that Time Machine backups of sparse bundles would not copy the entire image, only the changed parts. The sprase images are for sharing of photo and iTUnes libraries among multiple family member on the same computer.

If it is working as expected, what do you need with the old backup?
If you want to be able to go back to where you were prior to an upgrade, isolate that backup and don't use it again. As far as Time Machine can tell, the whole drive changed.
The link I posted contains probably everything that anybody knows about Time Machine and how to manipulate it to work as you would like as opposed to how it was designed to work. There are FAQs to continue a backup as opposed to starting fresh, but I wouldn't recommend it for the reasons above. Pondini probably doesn't, either.
If you are going to do a wholesale upgrade of the OS, I would create a bootable clone using something like Carbon Copy Cloner or Super Duper. A bootable clone on an external drive can have you back up and running instantly if the upgrade fails in any way. If the upgrade goes fine, store it away in case you find the current system isn't to your liking.

Ok, well you'll need to do something like this. Now this part is a little dependent on your database server:

Note that the applet can only contact the server that is was loaded from, so you might want to do a getCodeBase() or something like that to get the server address.

Soyouca how did you install Photoshop Lightroom? Please uninstall the current installation using the uninstaller located in Applications/Utilities/Adobe Installers.
Once Photoshop Lightroom is removed please download a fresh copy of the installation files from Adobe - Lightroom : For Macintosh. The update contains the full installer so please download the latest version of Photoshop Lightroom 5.
