I am having a problem opening pdf document. I get error message: "Adobe Reader has stopped working" then I get Windows is looking on line for a solution, but then my document closes. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Adobe Reader XI, rebooted my computer but this did not help. I get the same message. What to do?

Can you open Reader by itself? If so, check if disabling Protected Mode improves the situation [Edit | Preferences | Security (Enhanced)].

Assuming that you are in Win (which you haven't said), you can try using this tool to first remove all traces of previous versions of Reader:

Then, download the full offline Reader installer from

and run it immediately after restarting your computer.

One thing often tried first is to create a new document and File>Place the corrupted one to see how much may be rescued that way (remember to tick Paste remembers Layers in the Layer palette flyout/dropdown first, and to untick it afterwards).

Which OS are you using?
Try installing the latest update v11.0.10 and check.
Have you tried repairing Reader from the 'Help' menu already?
Also try disabling the protected mode in Reader and launch and check.

I had a computer crash on Friday and I just reinstalled InDesign this weekend and it has worked fine. This afternoon I started to receive an error message that Adobe InDesign has stopped working and Windows will close the program and notify me if a solution is available. I've rebooted and closed every other program. I have also been downloading my lost files from Carbonite since yesterday and have paused the download. I have the same issue. An iTunes help page (iTunes for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8: Fix unexpected quits or launch issues - Apple Support) suggested I hold down shift and control when clicking to open iTunes, which opens iTunes fine for me. That would mean the problem is in the third party plug-ins that work with iTunes. However, the help pages did not say what to do with the plug-ins once I knew that was the issue. The pages said to find the plug-ins and move them to the Desktop, which I did. That's where the help pages stopped, which is ridiculous. Does anyone know what to do from there?

i uninstall and delete the mozilla firfox in my directory and reinstall tha lastest version but its still showing the same error message.

i experienced the same problem. this is what i did:
*right click firefox
*click properties
*click compatibility tab
* check "Run this program in compatability mode for:"
* on dropdown choose Windows 7.
* click ok or apply.

it says: You cannot use this product at this time. You must repair the problem by uninstalling and then reinstalling this product or contacting your IT admin or Adobe customer support for help.
Well it seems I am only able to install this on a maximum of 3 computers so if I uninstall and reinstall I may have used up all three. What caused this in the first place?

And most licenses extend to 2 machines; not 3. Your computer's clock probably reset when you changed batteries. Is your computer's clock set to the correct date and time now?
