I am having a problem reinstalling osx.

I am having a problem reinstalling osx. Disk utility reports the following disk errors:
1. Unused node is not erased.
2. Volume bitmap needs monor repair for orphaned blocks
I have tried verifying and repairing disks and get message that it cannot be repaired after 3 attempts. Anyone encountered anything like this?

Clean the bottom of the installer disk carefully with a soft cloth and a little bit of rubbing alcohol to take off the fingerprints, don't touch the bottom or let it get damaged.
Once it's dry then stick it in the MacBook
Hold c and reboot off the installer disk and use Disk Utility under the menu to select the hard drive makers name, then Erase tab (format HFS+ journaled) Security Option > Zero All Data and click Erase....
This will erase all the partitions on the drive and also map off all bad sectors, takes some time.
Once done quit and use the installer to install OS X.
If it fails it could be the disk is bad.

You'll either need to increase the RAM in your iMac so that you can install Mavericks, or you'll need to use the original installation disk that came with your iMac to reinstall the original operating system.

Problem reinstalling Mac OSX 10.5

I am having a problem with reinstalling Mac OSX 10.5 after putting in the disc to do it everything was fine it asks what language I want and then it tells me that it can not be installed on this computer. I am trying to install it on a MacBook bought last year it is an intel machine and I have always kept up on the system updates. I don't want to take it in to a store more because I am stationed in Japan and getting it to a store requires more work than it is worth. If there is any advice on what to do I would greatly appreciate it.

You need the original grey system discs for each Mac model you own, not just to be able to reinstall the OS but also to reinstall the model's bundled retail application software (like iLife, if included) & to run the very model-specific Apple Hardware Test it contains if that is ever required.
The retail Leopard discs do not include either of these capabilities, so unless you are desperate to get Leopard reinstalled on the MacBook, you should try hard to find the original MacBook system discs. Failing that, you can contact AppleCare & request a replacement disc set. Generally speaking, Apple will ship one to you for a nominal replacement cost if you can show that you own that model by providing its serial number or other proof of purchase information.
Regarding installing Vista or Windows XP, both the retail Leopard & system discs include Boot Camp, which includes a convenient utility to format the hard disk for dual booting. While complicated, this can be done without that utility but you still need the hardware drivers the disc contains to get the full use of the Mac's hardware when running Windows. I have no idea if say an iMac's system discs have the Windows hardware drivers that also support a MacBook or if this too is model-specific, so on that you are on your own.

I am using a new Apple TV streaming box. I cannot seem to get any itunes movies to completely download. If they do completely download, it often takes a day or more. Even when the download is apparently completed, ATV will often re-authorize the movie purchase...and the download process begins again. That is about the time I send emails and get refunds. NETFLIZ works beaitifully - fast, easy to use, NEVER a problem. I use a MAC, iPad too but have not synced either with ATV.
Am I doing something wrong? This is incredibly frustrating for my family!!!!

When I turned on Bridge through CS4, My thumb nail images disappeared and a thumb nail icon with CR2 appeared. Now some of my images have disappeared from Light room 4.4, but I can find them in CS4 and Bridge now shows some thumb nails as images and some as an icon with CR2. I don't use LR and rarely use the bridge so I can not answers about thumbnails in them, However thumbnails in windows file explorer and windows dialog for CS2 files will only show if you have installed codec into windows that will produce them. Windows does not do CR2 thumbnails on its own. I use FastPictureViewer Codec package for RAW File and PSD files thunbmail support.

Having software problems, Windows 7. I have the HP P6510 desktop. I have backed up my data to ext. drive, and I have the Windows 7 Home CD which I purchased.
Most of the reading I've done to "format & reinstall" seem to say I don't need to format...just put the Windows 7 CD in and restart...is that all I have to do...I don't have to format the HD?
If I have to "format" the HD, how?
PS:(Last time Computer was in for repair, they replaced the Windows 7 program so product numbers may be different.)

However, to answer your question, you should not need to repartition or format the hard drive unless you want to.
Windows 7 will install on the current windows partition creating a windows.old folder, which you can delete after W7 is installed.
Having the windows.old folder is nice for folks like me who forgot to save a file or folder. You can just browse to the Windows.old folder and retrieve any file or folder you want and copy it to the new windows installation.
When you are sure you have gotten all of your files from the windows.old folder you can delete it by launching the disk cleanup utility and then click on the Cleanup System Files button in the disk cleanup window.
Then just check the windows.old folder on the list of files and it will be deleted once you hit the OK button.
If you delete partitions and reformat, you will lose the option of having the windows.old folder.
The tutorial at the link above will step you thru the process of formatting the drive.

When I play a sound or a video on a website (other than youtube)on safari, a weird nois is comeing from the speakers, the sound has pops/clicks but if I play the same video/sound on mozilla it works fine.. I'm new to Mac and I'm having problem reinstalling the operating sysytem. After erasing the hard drive I have attempted to reinstall and keep getting the same error message. INSTALL FAILED, MAC OS X COULD NOT BE INSTALLED ON YOUR COMPUTER, THE INSTALLED COULD NOT COPY THE NECESSARY SUPPORT FILES. At this point the computer is useless. I can't get the disc out of the drive or exit the installer. It looks to me like the computer needs the disc to restart. I have tried several times..... Thank you so much for your help! Yes my computer was a mess and we had tried everything to straighten it out, but nothing worked, so reinstall was our last hope. I had taken it to a friends house last night to have him help me with the reinstall. After he started it I closed the lid and took it home to finish it, and when I got it home and open the lid to continue the disc drive sounded really funny, like it was trying to run but couldn't. After a few minutes of that I would get the error message. With every attempt to try again the noise got worse and again would error. I'm wondering if during the trip home the disc shifted in the drive slightly causing the problem. With your advice I was finally able to get the disc to eject, but had to put back in for the computer the finish starting because I had erased the hard drive. After it finished starting I powered the computer down again and started it again holding the "C" key (something that was written right on the cd....blonde moment). I started the install again and it went right through without a single hesitation and without the horrible noise...Wooooo Hoooo!! Thank you again Berry, I would love to kiss the man who came up with the internet forum.

HT1533 SSD PROBLEM: unable to reinstall osx and also failed in backup recovery.

Yesterday my MacBook Pro 2011 suddenly got hanged and freeze. And I have to restart system by hard shutdown. Then I faced this problem every time. I reset nvram but it did not work . Then I thought May be it's corrupt operating system I tried to reinstall new osx maverick from recovery mode but system freeze again during osx downloading process. I tried this 2 more times but the same problem occurred. Afterwards I deleted all ssd drive data in partitions but when I tried to unmount and delete the partitions here I was failed in unmounting partitions. But I deleted all data from all partitions.after this I tried again to reinstall osx but system hung after sometime. I also tried to recover from my time machine backup but the same problem happened and my system got freeze and I have to hard shutdown. I also did hardware diagnostic test which showed everything ok. Now I am realizing that my SSD got corrupt. Could you please help me what I should consider that can fix my problem. I also tried fsck and verify and repair the disk.

are you still able to boot into Recovery mode? If so, select Utilities from the menu bar and run Terminal from there. In the Terminal window, give it the following commands, one per line, separating each command by pressing the Return key at the end of each line:
diskutil list
diskutil cs list
mount
Please include in your reply the full output from these commands.
