You have two choices, either get a replacement install DVD for your Mac ( best choice) or make another disk a system disk.
Option 1 call Apple and request a replacement install DVD for you Mac. They will charge you a nominal fee for shipping and handling. You really should have that because it is considered part of your Mac.
Option 2 This one depends on exactly what kind of errors you have on the disk.
If the data is recoverable, you can clone to the other drive.
If not, then you are in trouble and need the install DVD to install an operating system.

Hello, my father recently passed (using his ID) and I took over the payments on his mac and took his computer. I am not that familiar with mac, but am usually computer savy. However, this one has me stumped. I have no problem starting the built in cam and it seems to work fine with all other programs I've tried using it with. However, it will not work with yahoo. Whether I use normal yahoo messenger or if I try using Yahoo through I chat. The cam button will not light up, therefore, it is not clickable. Which ultimately means I cannot use my cam on yahoo, which is something I use 99% of the time compared to other programs. So why is this happening and what solutions can I take to try and fix this? The mac I am using is: Mac OS X, Version 10.7.4

1) If the iTunes preference window is open when you connect your iPod, the iPod will not be recognized by iTunes.
Also, iPods can work with many iTunes libraries, so that is not the problem here.
Is all the software on your computer up to date?

Does the iPod show up in My Computer when connected to your computer? Does it say Do Not Disconnect?

2) What part aren't you understanding. Here are a couple of free programs you can use to convert videos...

The programs should come with documentation and instructions to convert videos.
3) You can go to file-->add file to library, file-->add folder to library, or have iTunes open and drag the files into the iTunes library while viewing the library.. You can also import from CDs.
iTunes needs to be adding the songs to the iPod. You cannot just add the song files to the iPod.

I have adobe illustrator CS5. When I save a document as a pdf and open it again later to edit Adobe reader can't read the whole document because it only shows part of the document. It is very frustrating. How can I fix this?

Recently I bought a MacBook Pro, the first time I entered a disc into the disc dive it wouldn't load up in Itunes - just kept freezing; and the disc drive made a lot of noise, how can I fix this?
I've had my mac for less than a month and for the first time I put in a disc. I can hear a laser sort of noise as well as the disc flapping about or a motor sort of sound? Sounds really bad to me :/

Did you buy the system from Apple? If so how recent is recent? If it is new you have 14 days to return it, not sure what the situation is with refurb systems. If it is over 14 days you should still have warranty support make an appointment at an Apple Store or contact Apple support.
If you bought it from someone other then Apple you will need to contact them.

After upgrading my iPhone 4S to iOS6, my Find My Friends app no longer links to my Contacts and does not show contact names. It only shows e-mail addresses and does not link up to the corresponding email address in my Contacts. How can I fix this?
I am also having problems with a site I am building. No matter what websafe font I use it displays as New Times Roman in FireFox. The correct fonts show in both IE9 and Chrome.
In addition, text shifts in FireFox. I have to position other text objects farther and farther apart as I go down the page or they start to overlap. Nav buttons and other images also have to be positioned in the wrong place for them to be in the correct place when the page is opened in FireFox. FireFox should display pages correctly by default. I can't expect th average user to have to tweek his/her settings to display my site.
I have been recommending FireFox on my website as the best browser. I might have to change that and abandon FireFox myself. -
When I try sharing to my apple devices from my final cut pro x, I keep getting a "Quicktime Error:-50". How can I fix this?
You can search the entire internet by putting that error message into google, see what other discussions appear.
With only the little information you've provided, I'd trash Compressor and download it again from the App Store.
You could share the timeline out to MPEG2 and then import that into iDVD, if you have it, or Toast.
Given an hour or three, someone with better suggestions will soon chime in. -
My weather app doesn't show the feels like temp or wind, etc. How can I fix this? I am running iOS 8.1.2.
is that really what it is? this is the native iphone weather app. the funny part is that when i use the actual weather channel app, it does provide it.

upon syncing my iPhone and mac all of my ical and iPhone calendar events have duplicated. how can i fix this and avoid it in the future?

Questions:
1. What version of the Mac OS are you running (Apple > About this Mac)?
2. What version of the iOS are you running (Settings > About)?
3. Do you backup your computer (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1427)?
--- If you don't regularly backup your computer, now is the time to start.
4. Do you backup your iPhone (http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1766)?
Check the calendar list on the left hand side of iCal. Is it that the individual events are duplicated or is it just that you have the same calendar listed more than once? If its that you have more than 1 copy of each calendar, you can delete one of the duplicate calendars to eliminate the duplicates.
If you find that it is the individual events that are duplicated then there are 2 options:
1. Restore your computer iCal database or iPhone from a backup made before the duplication occurred.
2. Use a duplication removal program (or do it by hand) to remove the duplicates: http://www.nhoj.co.uk/icaldupedeleter/
If you have a backup made before the duplication occurred, reply back with what kind of backup you have and I'll suggest how to recover the calendars.
To avoid this issue in the future:
Keep regular backups. They are your best defense against data anomalies which are a fact of life in computers (although hopefully rare).
Keep your computer and iPhone software fully up to date (Apple > Software Update / Settings > General > Software Update).
Make sure the date and time on your computer and iPhone are correct before you sync the two devices.
Make sure the cable connections between the two is solid and that the cable shows no signs of physical damage.

My mac is slow, the movies run slowly, the kernel_task consumes 463,3 MB of memory, how can I fix this?
The problem started a few weeks ago with a small decrease in speed, and the videos now crash while the sound remains normal. When I open the Finder or any file it seems that I'm opening the windows with the hourglass spinning. I've already cleaned temporary, removed everything that was saved on the table, I made up for the mountain lion. Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon on your Desktop.
Click Get Info. In the Get Info window you will see Capacity and Available.

iphone has been in recovery mode for 4 hours and hasn't come back to the home screen and how can i fix this and get it back to working order?
the iphone 4S has been in recovery mode for a long time and i have tried to press and hold the power and home buttons until the apple symbols comes on the screen again but it stay on the screen until the screen turns off and doesn't come back on to the home screen and have tried to sync with mac and doesn't do anything it does display the itunes and cable icons for a while but then goes back to the apple symbol and doers nothing what can I do to fix this and not loose what is on the phone at all?Hi, simonRM.
