I am having difficulty moving spiceworks from an XP box to a Windows 7 box. I have followed the instructions as follows.Created a backup on the xp machine and then moved the zip file to the windows 7 machine.I installed spiceworks on the windows 7 box but did not start it up.I deleted the DB and Data foldersI unzipped the backup and moved the unzipped db and data folders into the spiceworks folder.started spiceworks and now stuck. I've had several problems with Access on W7, mostly me not being able to select it as all. What i'd start with (unless you really need to file mobility) is to install a SQL Server (express) and import the data there. Set up a .udl pointing to the server (which'd be the same for 7.1 and 2010) and then try.
If it still doesn't work you probably have some Race condition in your old code that has risen with the recompile. Do the old code have lots of local variables?
I avoid the obvious "do you have database connectivity installed on the 2010 machine as i assume you do".

ITunes Says Having Difficulty Downloading Episodes From Your Feed

I'm trying to submit my podcast feed to iTunes, I am able to subscribe to my feed by going to File > Subscribe to Podcast > and pasting http://www.servextra.com/category/scrshow/feed/ in the field. iTunes then recognizes all of the episodes in my feed and I'm able to play them all with no problem.
When I try to submit this same exact feed to the iTunes Podcast Directory, I get the error message iTunes Says Having Difficulty Downloading Episodes From Your Feed. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong to cause this?

The Store can by flaky about redirects, and this one has the '?' which indicates a script of some sort is in use. However, Libsyn normally know what they are doing so I wouldn't have expected them to provide a URL which didn't work. Your best bet would be to approach their Support; or Robert Walch, who works for them, posts here sometimes and may see your question.
It is just possible that the Store is having one of its hissy fits and it may be an error at their end, but certainly Libsyn should be able to advise.

Needs clarification. You upload from your computer to the internet & download from a website/internet to your computer. So which are you trying to do? Either way, sounds like a browser issue. You need to post in the forum of whichever browser you are using.

This refers to permissions on your computer which must have been changed. Start by using Disk Utility to repair permissions. Then do the following:
Reset User Permissions and ACLs in Lion/Mountain Lion
Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
From the Utilities menu select Terminal. At the Terminal prompt enter: resetpassword. Press RETURN. When the window opens select your startup drive where it says "Select the volume containing the user account:" At the bottom of the window you will see, "Reset Home folder permissions and ACLs." Click on the Reset button.

ATV having difficulty receiving commands from remote

My AppleTV is hooked up by HDMI to a Samsung HDTV (model code LNT2653HX/XAA). I've been having a lot of difficulty using the Apple remote with my ATV. Because the unit is in close proximity to my MacBook and Universal iPod Dock (meaning I have 3 Apple remotes lying around), I had to pair each remote to each device so there would be no interference. This did not help my issue, and even after tried unpairing the remote or changing which remote worked with which device, the problem persisted. When I press a button on the remote, the ATV rarely responds (i.e. responds to 1/20 clicks), and there has appeared no rhyme or reason to when it does or does not work.
I have noticed, however, that clicking the Apple remote will occasionally cause a light on the TV to blink as if it were receiving a command. Interestingly, when the TV is turned OFF, the AppleTV has no difficulty receiving commands (as evidenced by the white light blinking each time a command is received).
Now this may very well be an issue that can only be solved by dealing with the TV itself, but is there any recourse available otherwise?

Hi.. I'm having the same problems described, with my Apple TV and using the remote. I have the G1 model of the Apple TV, and have been using it without issue for a couple of years. Just bought a new Samsung LCD TV Series 8, 40" and soon after I attached the Apple TV I started to have issues. Now the Apple remote almost never responds. I have paired it, repaired it until I'm sick. I did a factory reset on the Apple TV.. and the remote worked just fine, until I upgraded the software on the Apple TV to get back all the functionality (iTunes Store, using my iPod-remote, etc.). The problem is the remote seems to work for a second.. then stops-freezes. I suspect it has something to do with both the TV and the software upgrade. Is it possible that the Samsung TV is sending out IR signals that swamp the room? Or that when I hit the Apple Remote, the TV replies.. and confuses the Apple TV? I moved the Apple TV as far away from the Samsung as I could.. but nothing helps. Very frustrating!!! Any ideas? Oh by the way.. I also can't get the Apple TV to pair with another remote. It stalls each time about 20% of the way.. never moving forward. The lack of a remote.. makes the Apple TV a paperweight.. sad.. because before it was one of my favorite Apple products. HELP!

There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on seven different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary from version to version and OS to OS. So before anyone can help, they need information to work with. Things like:
- What version of iPhoto.
- What version of the Operating System.
- Details. What were you doing when the problem arose?
- Did it ever work properly?
- Are there error messages?
- What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
Anything else you can think of that might allow someone else to understand your issue.

Having trouble moving songs from iPhone Music section to a playlist in 10.6.1

I'm able to import songs from my computer to my iTunes just fine. However, it seems that with version 10.6 of iTunes I can't drag a song from my iTunes Music section on my iPhone 4S to a playlist. The song will highlight in the Music section but drag & drop are not working. I don't recall having this problem in version 10.5 of iTunes. Anybody else have this issue? Is there a fix or do I have to wait for version 10.7? Thanks for the assistance.

From the Advanced menu, choose Consolidate Library. A message appears that says: "Consolidating your library will copy all of your music into the iTunes Music folder. This cannot be undone."
There is no button that says consolidate library. Not even on the example picture they have.

Having difficulty migrating info from MacBook Pro to new iMac

I have been trying to migrate my information from my MacBook Pro (10.9.1) to my new iMac (10.9.1). I've connected the two via ethernet. They are recognizing each other, but then one or the other seems to shut off and requires me to enter my password and it stalls the whole process. I've attempted this migration at least 5 times now (or more) and the same thing keeps happening. Any suggestions?

I just got a new iMac on January 2nd, and moved 320GB worth of data from my external Time Machine backup drive (a Firewire drive connected to the new iMac via the Firewire to Thunderbolt adapter) to the new iMac in about 3 hours or so. This was all done via Setup Assistant, not Migration Assistant (which can be run later on for those in a hurry to use their new Mac).
It almost sounds to me as if you're transferring everything via WiFi.

Having difficulty creating pdf from XML data source

I have a 'rpt' file built with a classic install of Crystal 10, using xml as a data source. I have tried using both ADO.NET(XML) connection and ODBC CR ODBCXML Driver 4.20.
The rpt file was built on Windows2000 NT platform. The report runs, and displays data from the sample xml file in the preview tab.
I am attempting to feed xml data into the rpt file with the intent to create pdf formatted output. I am using java with the Crystaldecisions packages. I am running this app out of an Apache server on an Ubuntu VM Hardy Heron release. This does not have any version of Crystal Reports installed on it.
I have followed the examples and I am comfortable that I have the correct package imports, I am able to open the rpt file, and convert both the xml and xsd to byte arrays. When I issue the command
reportClientDocument.getDatabaseController().setDataSource(xmlDataSet, '', '')
I get the response
Cannot find corresponding table information in the XML file
Set data source failed: The table 'criminal_case' could not be found.
Request failed and JRC Command failed to be undone

The xsd does validate the xml which contains a noNamespaceSchemaLocation pointer to the xsd.
The xml is the same data that was used to design the report on the NT box. This means that I see the same elements being byte streamed as were used to create the rpt file.
Is this as simple as I am running my webserver on Linux? I do see the connection attribute properties reference a Database DLL that is clearly windows based. What can I do?

So why develop a report if there is no data? I can only think that you have a bunch of static text, maybe an instruction page you want to publish? If so, you still need a data source, it can be a dummy source

I am having difficulty deleting music from my iPad. I tried to delete 2 songs while I was playing those songs. I can't get rid of those songs. What can I do without resetting the iPad?

Last night while I was trying clean out my music library on my iPad, I attempted to delete a song while it was playing. The device allowed me to swipe from right to left, it even gave me the delete key. I hit the delete key, but the song is still there. Now, the ipad doesn't give me the swipe from right to left. The song doesn't appear to be deletable. I really don't want to reset my ipad. Is there anything that I can do to remove the song with out resetting the iPad?

Having Trouble Moving Apps From One Page to Another

I can easily move apps around on the same page. But I can't seem to move an app from one page to another. They stop at the side of the screen and won't move to the next page. Is there a secret to this or does it take fancy dexterity?

It takes a little dexterity but if you have 9 pAges of apps then it takes pure magic to move any to the
Tenth page. I still haven't been able to do it. I've discovered how to delete those pesky defAult apps though. You put them on the ninth page then drag another app onto page nine and push the other one right off. Disappears forever
