I have windows and I have synced my ipad for the first time.  I'm at step 6 of 6 Downloading Safari safe browsing data. I have been here at this step going on 2 hours.  Is this normal or is something wrong.

Lyrics aren't supported in the Music app on iOS 5 on the iPad. These are user-to-user forums, they are not monitored by Apple (there are too many forums/threads/messages for that to happen). If you want to leave feedback for Apple then you can do so here : http://www.apple.com/feedback/ipad.html

  • HT1386 When I connect my 5s to itunes on my Pc  the sync gets stuck on either "downloading safari safe browsing data" or "waiting for changes to be applied".  Any ideas?

When I connect my 5s to itunes for a sync, the sync gets struck on either Step 4, waiting for changes to be applied, or "downloading safe safari data."  This does not happen with my ipad.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.  Thx, Jimmy

Same thing has been happening to me and I havent been able to find a fix. Itunes has basically rendered my phone uselsee. It wont see it, let alone sync it.

  • Safari Safe Browsing Data on Iphone 5

I have just purchased a new I5 and when syncing it gets to 'stage 6 of 6' and says 'Downloading safari safe browsing data' and its been on for at least 5 hours - why and is it necessary, can I stop it doing this?

I just had the same issue while trying to sync some new songs on iTunes. I was so confused because installing new apps from iTunes worked like a charm, but I always got stuck when trying to add some songs, even after restoring and having tried every possible solution written in several forums.
Then I realized that some of those new songs had some weird characters in the song info (like chinese, squares... etc)... I fixed them by right-clicking each affected song in the properties section and changing artist, album, song name info with the correct characters. Then I tried to sync again and voilá !
That's my case, I'm not sure if it fits your situation, but it worked for me.
    Good luck, hope it helps.

  • Why is "Safari safe browsing data" taking so long to load?

    Hello,
I have a "G4" Touch.  Just updated to IOS 6.1.6 but on step 8, "Safari safe browsing data" is taking FOREVER to load. I was using Wi-Fi, but unchecked that, and now just plugged into my MBP.  If I can't solve this, how do I just "quit"?
    Thank you
    Jerry

    To terminate:
    - Force an app to close: Hold down the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until a red slider appears, then hold down the Home button until the app quits.
    or
    - Double-click the Home button to reveal the multitasking bar.Touch and hold the the problem app until you get a circled X bu it. Tap the x to remove/terminate the app.

  • What is 'Safari Safe Browsing Data' - what the ???

Why do I have to sit and wait for Apple to take this data from me when I sync? Is it me, or does it feel like all the Steps in a sync these days has more to do with data extraction than just doing what I need to do and getting out?

    This gave me a little more info - http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=ios%205%20safe%20browsing%20data&source=w eb&cd=5&ved=0CD4QFjAE&url=http%3A%2F%2Fblog.intego.com%2Fcategory%2Fapple%2F&ei= XsOiTszGJtTKsQLkxO2UBQ&usg=AFQjCNFp1hFl1ooPwums1KZNEitTkz28HQ&cad=rja

  • When I try to sync my iPod iCal with my MBP iCal via WiFi I get a message saying "Safari Downloading Safe Browsing Data" but I am connected to a local network and thus the syncing does not complete"

When I try to sync my iPod iCal with my MBP (OS 10.7) iCal via iTunes and WiFi I get a message saying "Safari Downloading Safe Browsing Data" but I am connected to a local network and thus the syncing does not complete because the downloading never completes because I am not connected to the internet.
Why does syncing iCal need Safari Safe Browsing Data?  How can I turn this off?

    See:
iTunes 10.5 and later: Troubleshooting iTunes Wi-Fi Syncing
"Safari Downloading Safe Browsing Data" is just some data that is synce with the computer. To turn off on the Mac go to System Preferencs>iCloud and turn off Safari

  • Why does guest log-in only opens in Safari-safe browsing?

After upgrading hard drive and restoring Mountain Lion, my guest account now opens in Safari-safe browsing only. Prior to the hard drive upgrade, guest could log in and have full access instead of just internet only.

    Hello toebar,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities. Guest accounts need to be enabled from the Users & Groups in System Preferences. The following articles will give information on the types of Guest Account that can be enabled.

  • Safari "safe browsing" bug?

I'll try to lay out the situation clearly because I'm not 100% sure where the issue is coming from.
    - macbook core 2 duo, os x 10.5.6, safari 3.2.1 (5525.27.1)
    - trying to visit http://ask.metafilter.com/112449/Whats-with-the-anarcho-butt-flap from a hyperlink in Google Reader (RSS)
    - safari's malware warning screen popped up (The website you are visiting appears to contain malware. Malware is malicious software blah blah blah) and suggested that I look at the google safe browsing page for kodim.net
    SO...
possibility 1: I have some kind of browser hijack that is causing some links to try to redirect. does not seem likely.
possibility 2: ask.metafilter.com has been hijacked and redirects to kodim.net. also not likely. I tried to visit the parent domain (metafilter.com) but apparently they are down for maintenance at the
moment, but then I cleared my cache and tried to visit the original link again by pasting it into my address bar, and I got to the correct page.
possibility 3: there is an error either in Google's safe browsing API or in Apple's implementation of it.
I was previously unaware about the safe browsing features (new in this version of safari) and I wasn't sure I trusted them when they popped up (history of phishing "helpful" pages back in the day on my PC) so I did some research to find out if they were legit. This article http://www.macworld.com/article/137094/2008/11/safarisafebrowsing.html indicates that the method by which the filter works is (hope I have this correct)
    - list of hash prefixes for malware sites is downloaded from google to client and each url is checked against the prefixes
    - if a url matches a prefix, the full hash is downloaded and checked again against the url
    - if the full hash matches, the client displays the warning.
now, I'm not sure if this third possibility is realistic, but 1 and 2 don't seem to have panned out. Is it possible to be attempting to visit a valid, non-malware URL, but have it false positive against a
    hash for a malware site?
I would be very interested in learning an answer to this.
also a mini-rant: *** apple for not telling us about this new feature?!? why am I supposed to trust some random warning message that I've never seen before?!? grrrrr.

    Hi Chris
Any of the situations you cited are possible. This new phising feature IMO is still a work in process. Best way to avoid these types of situations is to add DNS server codes from OpenDNS to your Network settings, and refrain from opening web links from outside the browser. Also, deselect Safari's "fraudulent site" check in the Preferences>Security panel.
Go to System Preferences>Network. Select "advanced". In the DNS panel add on separate lines 208.67.222.220 and 208.67.220.222. Select "OK", then "apply".
    Restart Safari.

  • Safari safe browsing service unavailable

I've recently upgraded to Yosemite (6 days ago) and since then in the Safari security settings, I've had the message 'The google safe browsing service is unavailable. No update have occurred x days.
I've tried a few workarounds that I've seen online. Starting in safe mode, unchecking and then rechecking the Fraudulent sites check box. But its not getting rid of the issues.
Anyone else having the same issue, or know any other workarounds?
    Thanks

    1. Delete Caches.db
Close all windows and quit all applications.
Hold "option" key down and click "Go" menu in the Finder menu bar.
        Select "Library" from the dropdown.
        Library > Caches > com.apple.Safari > Caches.db
Right click the Caches.db file and select "Move To Trash.
        Close windows and relaunch Safari.
    2. Empty Caches
        Safari > Preference > Advanced
Checkmark the box for "Show Develop menu in menu bar".
Develop menu will appear in the Safari menu bar.
Click Develop and select "Empty Caches" from the dropdown.
If this doesn't help, wait until  this warning goes  off by itself.

  • How do I force a safari safe browsing security update?

Just to be safe I'd like to force the latest safe browsing update on Safari.
    How do I do that?

The safebrowsing.db file contains the blacklists from Google’s Safe Browsing Initiative - the file was probably created when you first launched Safari, and if you have the browser open, the file is modified approximately every 30 minutes.
In other words it is part of Safari's anti-phishing security feature. As it is a cache file it would presumably be re-created next time you open Safari, but would have to rebuild its cache of potentially bad sites.
It will be recreated next time you open Safari, and will then start again collecting details of dodgy websites.
How the Anti-Phishing feature of Safari 3.2 onwards works:

  • Why am I unable to download Safari web browser to mountain lion?

I have mountain lion on my mac. I deleted Safari from it. Now I cannot download Safari from the internet  to Safari. Is there a way I can get Safari back onto mountain lion?

Safari isn't available as a download from the Apple website anymore, so you have to reinstall OS X in order to get Safari back. Hold Command and R keys while your Mac is starting to start into OS X Recovery, and reinstall OS X

  • I am trying to pull up personal e-mail but I am getting an error message to turn off "private browsing" in settings-safari-private browsing. The problem is my Safari doesn't give me that option. What now?

I am receiving a message when going to a web site to turn off private browsing but Safari doesn't provide me the option to turn this off. As a matter of fact it doesn't show the option at all. Anyone know how to remedy this?

Tap the blue + sign in the upper right corner of the Safari toolbar to open a new tab. Then look in the lower left portion of the screen for the word "Private". Tap that to turn off private browsing.
