I am having probelmes with my wifi
I go to settings and then wifi to turn it on, but when I press it, it shows that circle that looks like it is loading but it never accepts the wifi and at the top of my phone where it should have the wifi logo it still says 4G. I have no idea what the problem is, I will be grateful for any help I get. I have the iPhone 4S and my update is the latest, I think it's 6.0.1. Thank you

You do not use a WEP password but wpa/wpa2 on router and equipment.
All equipment connects to WiFi, but for your iPad.
Even with all other equipment WiFi off, you cannot connect your iPad.
Your iPad connects to other WiFi nets correctly.
All resets etc done on iPad and Router.
Still I am not sure it is your router for sure, frustrating...
I want to test 2 other things:
1. in your iPad, set everything OFF in Settings/Cellular, turn off/then/on your WiFi, and see whether it will still not connect...
2. If that does not do it: disconnect the router as well as the modem from the power, for 15 seconds, then reconnect the modem, let it fully start, then reconnect the routet let it fully start, turn of your WiFi in iPad, then on, and see whether it will connect.

I am having trouble with my wife's new iPhone 5s. She can receive her telus email but can not send any email what did I do wrong in setting up her account on her iPhone? I tried to just copy the info from her old iPhone.
The sending of email is accomplished via the SMTP server. Take a moment to get back into Settings>Mail, contacts, calendars and select the account. Go to the SMTP server and check to make sure that username and password are entered in all of the appropriate places. If you cannot get it to work after trying to just change those settings, remove the account from the phone and recreate it. When recreating, make sure you enter the username and password in every location, even if the phone says optional. Make sure you have the settings from either the email provider or from the other device. Make sure that SSL is on or off as necessary.

I´m having problems with my wifi an my new Macbook pro. It doesn´t remember the network so every time I log on - I have to "join a network". I have "ticked" the "remember password" box. I´m connecting to a wireless network on an regular Speedtouch router at home. I´m new to Mackintosh.
Try the following, in order, until (hopefully) resolved:
1a. Delete Preferred Network(s)
System Preferences > Network > Wi-Fi > Advanced > Wi-Fi tab
Under "Preferred Networks," delete the network(s) you regularly use from the list.
1b. Delete AirPort Keychain Entries
Launch the "Keychain Access" application located in Applications/Utilties.
In the windows on the left side: Select login for Keychains and "All Items" for Category.
Click on the "Kind" filter at the top, and look for any "AirPort network password" entries...and delete them.
1c. Add Preferred Network(s)
System Preferences > Network > Wi-Fi > Advanced > Wi-Fi tab
Add the preferred network(s) using the "+" button.
Restart or log out then back in.
2. Move System Configuration Files
(Note: You will have to reestablish your network connections settings.)
Go to /Library/Preferences
Move the SystemConfiguration folder to the desktop.
Restart your Mac. (Note: OS X will rebuild the files that are now sitting on your desktop. If this doesn't resolve the issue, you can move the folder back to it's original location.) -
Does anyone else have problems with the wifi connection on their 4th generation Mine keeps going off line and its only 3 weeks old.I had the ipad mini and this problem never existed. I brought it back to the shop where i bought it Expert Laois last week and they said they couldnt find a problem but had to take it back today as it keeps disconneting from wifi still, anyway they are sending it back for repair and it am left with no ipad. After spending in excess of 700e i feel that this is really bad after sales service. I bought something that i want to use now and cant so what a waste of money it is .
Thankyou, but the shop said that they spoken to apple and that they have now changed their policy and that they do not give a replacement. So are you telling me that their information is false. Also what should they have done. This problem has existed since i bought it.????? What should i do?????

For those having issues with networking (wifi) after 10.6.7 installation
Hi everyone,
I don't want to get your hopes up, but I MAY have found at least a temporary solution to this very annoying problem. It involves deleting a preference file and restarting, so it's worth a shot. I can't promise that it's a permanent fix since I've only just gotten my connection back up and running, but it is a start. This also works for those who are getting the "self-assigned IP" error.
Simply go to your Library/Preferences/ folder and look for the com.apple.alf.plist and delete it by holding shift+apple+backspace. You may want to back up this file prior to deleting this, as this file is associate with your firewall. Any changes you made to your firewall will need to be reapplied, so keep that in mind. After deleting the file, simply restart and make sure your wifi settings are right. This worked for me after one restart, and I've now been running solid for about an hour. Again, I don't know if this will be a long term fix since the connection seems to fail after a few days of use, but at least it's a step in the right direction.
Please let me know if this has been of any help.Veggibacon,
I've been having the same connection dropout issue since 10.6.7 but with ethernet rather than wifi. Saw your post a couple of weeks ago and figured I could safely ignore it since my firewall was off and I wasn't connecting with wifi… silly me. Came back to this post (out of desperation, really) and even with the firewall off, deleting the com.apple.alf.plist file and restarting seems to have fixed my problem, for the time being. Considering the success, or total lack thereof, that I've had with every other "fix" that I've tried I'm curios how it is working out for you after a month. Has it really fixed the problem or has the problem resurfaced? -
Having issues with transferring wife's phone to daughter
I just transferred my wife's iphone 4 to may daughter with a new phone number and apple id. I did not reset the phone, but I changed the apple id at all the places i knew - icould, itunes etc.. however, two weird things are happening.
When I send a text to my wife, my daughter also gets it !!
When i try to update an app, it asks for the password for my wife's apple id account.
So it almost seems like part of the phone still thinks it is my wife's..What else do i have to do to make this really my daughter's phone?
Thanks in advance for any help in solving this problemThanks.. it worked..
One more question.. For some reason, i cannot send an imessage to my daughter.. it always comes up as a text message.. whereas for my wife, it comes up as an imessage.. how do i get my daughter also on imessage.
Thanks -

Is anyone having trouble with 5GHZ wifi connections with ios7?
Can"t connect to 5GHZ wifi connection now that I have updated to IOS7, same problem with the Iphone 5c that I bought for my wife. My 5 was updated to 7 this morning and now same problem as the new 5c

All is fine now.

My iPad is having problems with our wifi.
There are three bars up in the left of the screen but when i go into the wifi settings it has a spinning circle and no check mark. I can not use the internet in safari or in any of my apps. The same thing happens with my iPod, my Mom's ipod, and all of my sibling's ipods.
Look at iOS Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1398
iPad: Issues connecting to Wi-Fi networks http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3304
iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4199
Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
Change the channel on your wireless router. Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

Does the iOS device connect to other networks?
Does the iOS device see the network?
Any error messages?
Do other devices now connect?
Did the iOS device connect before?
Try the following to rule out a software problem:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Power off and then back on the router
- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
- iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
- Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network
- iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
- Restore from backup. See:
iOS: How to back up
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

Having probelm with JLabel and setText
I posted a message in Java Programming but I think it will be more appropriate here. I am trying to create a calculator so I want my JLabel(output) to display the number of the button that is clicked on. I used output.setText("7") but I get an error when compiling saying <identifier> expected. Any advice would be great. Also, is there a getText method in JLabel? I need to concatenate the current contents of JLabel and the value of the button pushed. For example:
output.setText( output.getText() + "7" );
Anyways, here is my code. I tried to make it indent so it is easier to read but it doesn't show up once I post it.
Thanks for you help.

application.setDefaultCloseOperation( JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE );// not tested but try it ...
1. put an empty string into the JLabel
declare
String labString = "";
(and declare the JLabel too)
2. initialise label - init() {
myLabel = new JLabel(labString)
3. activate
actionPerformed(ActionEvent evt) {
if (evt.getSource()==button#7) {
labString = getActionCommand();
myLabel.setText(labString);
validate();
Something like that anyway - it should work + if you 'play' with it, you can probably make it a bit more efficiently than the methods I've outlined here. -
