  • Adobe Reader 9/Mac OSX 10.5.4/Internal Error after installing

Just purchased a new iMac with OSX 10.5.4 installed. I have 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with 4 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM. Acrobat Reader v8.x won't run, so downloaded and installed v9 from the official Adobe web site. When I attempt to launch Acrobat Reader 9 I get the message "An internal error has occurred." I cannot go any further or do anything else. I've downloaded Reader 9 several times but the same problem keeps happening. I also purchased a new MacBook and Reader 9 installs and runs on that machine without any problems. Anyone have any idea why this might be happening on my iMac? Without Acrobat Reader it can really be a drag trying to work with PDF's.

I was wrong on both counts. With the help of the local Apple store, I found a solution. First, I Moved to Trash all adobe related files/folders from /Users/*myaccount*/Library/Cache and /Users/*myaccount*/Library/Preferences. When I started "Adobe Reader 9", I at least got the license agreement but again it failed with an "internal error". I then moved the /Users/*myaccount*/Library/Application Support/Adobe folder to my desktop. I was then able to start "Adobe Reader 9" successfully.
I was having the "Internal Error" message on all my repeated installs of Reader in Mac OS 10.6 ("Snow Leopard") and this fixed it for me. The only thing I did different, was after the app finally launched without an error, I dragged all the non-Acrobat Reader folders inside of /Users/*myaccount*/Library/Application Support/Adobe back to the folder. I then re-launched Reader just to check and all was fine.
Thanks! This fixed my Adobe Reader on Snow Leopard problem.

  • Problems opening attachments from outlook

This week I have been unable to open attachments from Outlook 2010. I use Firefox as my browser and for some reason when I click on an attachment it is downloaded into Firefox. This has only just started to happen. If I try to open a PDF document I would
expect it to just open as a PDF rather than a Firefox download. How can I resolve this issue?

    Hi Tweek,
Might be you are working with disabled attachment preview option. Follow the given path and turn on it:
File >> Options >> Trust Center >> Trust Center Settings (under Microsoft Outlook Trust Center) >> Attachment Handling
If the above solution does not help, then change the default program for opening attachment. Make a right click on the PDF Document and select
“Open With” option. Choose the default program and set it to as
“Always the selected program to open this kind of file”.

  • Problems opening documents with Adobe Reader XI

I tried to open a file from my email account. I got a message from Adobe Reader XI that it could not open ecause it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded.  I get this message with some documents which I have been able to open in the past and now I  can't.  I do not have Microsoft Office on my computer.  I have Microsoft Word Starter 2010.  I am a home user and this program works well as my Word software.  I have downloaded a trial of Adobe Acrobat Pro XI and that hasn't solved my problem.  Can anyone help me?

If you don't have Word but want to view Word docs, you can download and install the MS Word Viewer from http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=4.
In fact, istalling it may clear up the file association problem all on it's own.

  • Problem Opening and Running Adobe Reader XI

I am using Windows 8 and Adobe Reader XI (Version 11.0.03). At first, I was able to use Reader just fine. Then yesterday the program would freeze just after I tried opening it. I would see a spinning wheel on the right of the window that would stop spinning almost as soon as it would start. Shortly thereafter, I would see (Not Responding) at the top of the window. Then, without clicking the "X" in the upper right corner, the program would close by itself. This hapens whether I try to open a pdf from my C drive or a flash drive, and also when I just double-click the desktop Reader icon. I have tried ununstalling and re-installing to no avail. I have also tried fixing the problem through clickining "Change" in the "Programs and Features" part of the Control Panel. After going through that last process, the message indicated nothing was worng. Please help. I use fillable and savable pdfs in my business. Thank you.

    Some things to try...
Using Windows Explorer navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Reader 11.0\Reader, then double-click on Eula.exe and accept the license agreement
Can you open Adobe Reader by itself?  If so, try disabling Protected Mode [Edit | Preferences | Security (Enhanced)].
If you cannot open Reader by itself, try to disable Protected Mode in the registry; download, unzip, then run the attached registry script
It could even be a malware issue; see http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/reader-core-dll-error.html

    Hi,
    Welcome to Adobe forums.
Are you trying to open the PDF in web browser, or you are trying to open a PDF locally in Adobe Reader application ?
    - please save a PDF file locally and then open Adobe Reader to view the PDF file.
Please share the result with me, so that I can help you accordingly.
If you are able to open the PDF file locally, please see the document (to open the PDF file in Web Browsers) : http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/using/display-pdf-browser-acrobat-xi.html

  • Having problems using forms in Adobe Reader on Surface RT

I'm trying to use fillable forms on Adobe Acrobat on a PC that can be accessed via a Surface RT at work. But when I access the forms with the Adobe Reader app and attempt to fill out and email the forms, the parts that are filled out come out blank. Is this an issue with Adobe Reader? The email button I set up on the PC end via Acrobat works, so I can email it through Reader, but all the forms are blank. That doesn't make sense. There also is no way to use the sign function. Why is that?

Good luck with that. It's 2014 I can't open a fillable form that I need to submit for an annual report. I'm assuming I'll have to wait until I an use my laptop in a few days. Pretty shameful really.

  • Cannot open URL from Adobe Reader (10.1.8)

My PDF contains a URL which is not standard http format, but is file://.
Adobe Reader identifies it to be a URL (hand cursor shows up), but nothing happens when clicking on it.
In fact, we have 3 systems (colleagues) with varied behavior. One one it works - brings up the file pointed by the URL.
One another one, it pops up a security related warning (with Block or Allow button). Clicking Allow still does nothing - so fails there.
On my system, it just does nothing..
I tried comparing through the Preferences (Security related, General etc), can't really see any difference..
Any thoughts on what could be going wrong?
    Thanks,
    Sudarshan

It's always the first thing to try: if an older version doesn't work correctly, first try the latest version before doing lots of other stuff.

The only thing that happens when we try to open the program is an text message with "Internal error occured". And that's it. • Adobe Reader XI, Mac OS 10.9.2, internal error

    Greetings,
I get the "an internal error has occurred" message when I start the Adobe Reader program up for the first time. I've used app delete, deleted relevant files by hand, re-installed, repaired permissions, and tried older versions, several times and all with the same result. What do I need to do?

Someting in my user folder then?
Yep... just what... is hard to troubleshoot from here.
When you deleted files there are five places to look for EVERYTHING.
    1. Applications - Adobe Reader app
    2. Mac HD\Library\Internet Plug-ins - AdobePDFViewer.plugin and AdobePDFViewerNPAPI.plugin
    3. Mac HD\Library\Application Support\Adobe\HelpCfg\en_US - Reader.helpcfg
    4. Mac HD\Library\Application Support\Adobe - the Reader folder (the entire folder)
    5. [user]\Library\Preferences - com.Adobe.Reader.plist (Hold the "Option" key and click "Go" from the Finder menu to access the [user]\library folder)
DId you trash EVERYTHING listed there?

  • Problem opening form on Adobe Reader

    Hi all,
We are designing a form in adobe livecycle designer 7.0.
It is a form where there is a submit by email button, 10 standard user-input text fields ,2 fields where we are pulling data from a query string.
the query string data is coming fine when the user sees it in the browser. but when he is saving into his machine it prompts to save as a blank copy.
On reopening the pdf the fields are not saved.
We have tested this on different machines and different versions.
Most versions are having this problem.
But on some machines e.g 8.12 is working on others it gives the blank copy prompt.
Are there any kind of setting required to make the form work?
thanks for any kind of help

Kimmerdog, Would you please rewrite your sentence "you have to publish the document it to the repository". And what is a repository?
