I am having problems donloading and editing .asx files
I am trying to edit some video that can only be downloaded in .asx format. It is drm-ed. I may just have to contact the poeple I am partenring with that I need the original video files but I will need to do this with many of the cliebts that I am partnering with. Not only will it become a nuisance and make my business move as though stuck in the mud...it makes it hard for me to trumpet the relative merits of Apple anything electronic in the world if I have to get parralel or something so that I can run (gasp) Windows.

FCE is video editing application. ASX are not video files, they're metadata information. By the sound of it you haven't downloaded the video files at all. ASF is a Windows format used for streaming, not for download.
The ASX Format
ASX (Advanced Stream Redirector) files are not media files, but metafiles.
Metafiles provides information about files. ASX files are plain text files used to describe multimedia content:

The file above describes three multimedia files. When the ASX file is read by a player, the player can play the files described.
Advanced Systems Format (formerly Advanced Streaming Format) is Microsoft's proprietary digital audio/digital video container format, especially meant for streaming media. ASF is part of the Windows Media framework.
The format does not specify how (i.e. with which codec) the video or audio should be encoded; it just specifies the structure of the video/audio stream. This is similar to the function performed by the QuickTime, AVI, or Ogg container formats. One of the objectives of ASF was to support playback from digital media servers, HTTP servers, and local storage devices such as hard disk drives.
ASF is based on serialized objects which are essentially byte sequences identified by a GUID marker.
The most common filetypes contained within an ASF file are Windows Media Audio (WMA) and Windows Media Video (WMV). Note that the file extension abbreviations are similar in name to the codecs of the same name but are different things.
ASF files can also contain objects representing metadata, such as the artist, title, album and genre for an audio track, or the director of a video track, much like the ID3 tags of MP3 files.
Files containing only WMA audio can be named using a .wma extension, and files of only audio and video content may have the extension .wmv. Both may use the .asf extension if desired.
Certain error-correcting techniques related to ASF are patented in the United States (United States Patent 6,041,345 Levi, et al. March 21, 2000) by Microsoft. Although the format is publicly documented by Microsoft, its license limits implementations to closed-source development projects only. Apple's iTunes software (for Windows) now has the capability to convert WMA files to any iTunes-supported format.[1]
The ASF container provides the framework for digital rights management in Windows Media Audio and Windows Media Video. An analysis of an older scheme used in WMA reveals that it is using a combination of elliptic curve cryptography key exchange, DES block cipher, a custom block cipher, RC4 stream cipher and the SHA-1 hashing function.
ASF files have MIME type application/vnd.ms-asf or video/x-ms-asf. (Advanced Stream Redirector (ASX) files also have MIME type video/x-ms-asf.)
ASF container-based media is usually streamed on the internet either through the MMS protocol or the RTSP protocol.

Hi Guys - for a few days I have been having problems downloading and updating apps on my iPad and iPhone. The message cycles between waiting and downloading then eventually says unable to download app. Sometimes after many attempts it wil eventually work. I tested it on an old iPhone 3G and got the same problem so it is not an iOS 5 issue. My WI-FI connection is working fine. I was wondering if this is an App Store problem? Anyone else in the UK having this problem?

I have also been having another problem - with BBC iPlayer and other video streaming not working due to insufficient bandwidth, despite my overall download speed being consistently around 50Gb. This is also affecting AppleTV downloads

I am having problems copying and pasting clips from one project timeline to another. When I do this they often alter in length. Sometimes by two frames. Other times they lose a chunk off the end of the last clip in the sequence. Has anyone else found this?
You need to give a lot more information about the media specifications and the project properties you're using in the different projects.

Email recipients having problems receiving and opening attachments after iOS7 update. Help!
I use my iPad for work, and often send emails with multiple PDF attachments via the GoodReader app. Since updating to iOS7, people are having problems receiving and/or opening my attachments. All available updates have been installed for both the iPad and GoodReader apps.
My emails either show up with NO attachments, or with a box marked with an "X".
I Googled and learned others are having the same issue, especially when sending single page PDFs.
The email address/account I am using is through the Microsoft Exchange. I will say, however, when I try sending the attachments from my iCloud email account, I have no problems. I also had no problems with iOS6.
Someone is probably going to tell me this is a Microsoft problem and not an Apple problem. Regardless, I need a solution. This is very frustrating. I'm ready to go back to using my Windows-based laptop. HELP!Solution for me was changing the "Load Remote Images" setting, shutting down and restarting the phone. The old messages with problems reloaded with all attachments accessible.
Background: I began having this problem recently with PDF, jpeg,vcf files and apparently now, all attachments as well as email with html links are coming through with no attachment or as empty email. This was a new problem for me. I have been backing up to the cloud, but not using a cloud email account. I have multiple accounts on the phone, six of them actually and have been set up this way for over a year without problem. Some are imap, some pop, none are through exchange. -

Hi. I've recently upgraded from CS5 to CC but I'm now having problems finding and importing actions that I previously had recorded in CS5. Where do I need to look to locate these actions, as they are still in CS5 when I open it.
You export them using the flyout menu in the top right corner of the actions palette. Conversely, you load them the same way in the new version.

In reference to Lynley Stanley, I too am having the exact problem. I downloaded as for my class of Animation and Visual Effects at the Academy of Art University while waiting for my software to come in the mail from Academic Superstore. I am so frustrated about this that such an issue has caused so much madness. In the process of trying to remove Adobe Photoshop CS3 from my Windows Vista I was searching for info on how to uninstall as I was in a hurry to uninstall the program because my 4th week into class started using the program as students are expected to follow along having their own for assignments. Well, now I'm behind and I don't want to fail because of something that is causing the problem as I'd like to call intentional. In the process of trying to figure a way to uninstall fast as not to fall behind and fail in class I downloaded Perfect Uninstaller but I don't know how it will work. Now in reference of trying to quickly uninstall just to keep up with class, that will not be possible, so now I had to take time to look online knowing I'm falling more and more behind because of this difficult matter I finally found this and hopefully I'll be going somewhere as to have the problem corrected. Problems opening and editing Olympus OM-D E-M1 files

I have a new Olympus OM-D E-M1 camera. It produces (pretty great) video's of the .MOV format, H.264.
However, I am not able to open, view and edit these files in Premiere Pro CS5.
Some more information:
- Video format .MOV, H.264, 1080p 29.97fps
- Windows 7 machine, 6Gb ram, reasonably fast video card and quad core chip. Editing of other video formats with the same HD specs is no problem (e.g. mp4 or avi)
- Video's play just fine in Quick Time and in the proprietary Olympus Viewer 3 software and in Windows Media player
- Video's will import and I can put them on the timeline but very slowly.
- They usually do not open in the Source monitor, or show just 1 frame
- The sound sometimes plays fragments (as if it is reading the files very slowly)
- It does not play a preview
- I can export a sequence that I put on the timeline, for example to an MP4 which is then fine, but rendering and exporting takes forever, up to hours for 4 mins of film
I am thinking that Premiere Pro somehow does not know where to find the right codecs for importing these videos, because they must be on my computer somewhere with QuickTime and Olympus Viewer. Anyone know how to tell PP how to find/use these?
Please let me know if you need any more information to help me solve this problem.

It has some files which seem to be involved in codec. Please take a look if there is anything useful there .
btw there is only one folder in Movie (AsFilter) and there is also only one folder in AsFilter (MP4), so there is no folder called MOV or similar, strangely enough.
There may be one other interesting .dll file called CodecHelper.dll in the Olympus Viewer 3 root. -

I think you have to turn off Private Browsing.
Tap "Private" on Safari Screen to disable Private Browsing. When top of screen is white, Private Browsing is off.

Hi, Ive just got myself a Macbook Pro, and Im having problems with sound on movie files. The format is wmv and they play OK on a windows 7 laptop, and Im trying to play them now on the MAC. The picture is OK , but no sound. I have Flip4Mac - no diference

In Pages 09, I can't scroll down andand click on text to edit it!! All the mouse will do is draw gray transparentboxes and not place the cursor in the text. Again, like the display problem, itdoesn't happen at the beginning of the doc, but starts showing up around 50 to60 pages in ... I can't select text at the bottom of pages ... at 50 pages, thecursor can be clicked into anyplace on a page. Further and further down, the unselectablearea on any particular page creeps up from the bottom line by line: at 175pages in the unselectable area is 12 lines high; at 360 pages in theunselectable area is 25 lines high. and finally at around 440 pages down, Icannot place the cursor anywhere on any page all the way to the end of thedocument.

You advertised to me that you could provide a product that enabled one to mark up and edit PDF files. I spent hours trying to download it, install it and run it, hours and hours and hours of bitter frustration. Time and time again I had to agree to this, register that, click on this, scroll down to find that, install something, else, update something else, wait for this to run, wait again for the next thing to run, and then find something else in a something file, close this, open that, stop this, tell us what f===ing browser your'e using (Chrome) start that, verify this, confirm that, choose a f==== password, choose another f===== password because that one is not right, choose yet another f=====g password because it's the wrong shade of pink, choose a f======= userrname, and in the end, nothing worked, Nothing changed, I still cannot edit or mark up any Adobe Acrobat files. Every time you open a file like this it pesters you to download updates and this is just a f====== nightrmare, I have wasted hours when I could have been working and your product did not work or make any difference. I still don't know if you have to pay but if you do I resent you hiding that until the end. I accepted a supposedly free 30-day trial but that is not enough time to get the f====== product to download install and work.

You started this situation by advertising a product and sending a pop-up. All it caused was huge waste of my time and effort.
You are like a girl who stands on a street corner saying "Wanna hooker?" then when someone says "Yes" he is expected to produce his birth certificate, passport, health insurance card, Green card, national insurance card, baptismal certificate, take her out to dinner, take her out to dinner again because that wasnn't good enough, register his name and credit card details, undergo an international credit check , choose five f===== passwiords, undergo a DNA test and marry her grandmother. It;s just not f=====ing worth it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Well we have no idea what you tried to do to install the trial version. There may have been a fundamental error in your process, but unless you let us know what was happening, we can't help. As for Adobe, we don't try to defend them, but try to provide help where we can.
Sorry you ran into frustration. The package does a lot of things, but for you the trial would have been ideal to see what worked like you expected and what did not. A lot of people expect all sorts of things out of Acrobat that are not possible, thinking it is like a word processor. It is not like that, but a PDF is more like an electronic version of a piece of paper. Modifications are typically a pain, just as it is with paper.
Over the years a lot of features have been added. The markup is OK, but some of the functions continue to be clunky. The forms is a major contribution to a standard PDF. The OCR feature is useful for scanned files. So there are many features. Reader is basically that, a Reader. It generally allows the completion of forms and possibly submission electronically (depends on the creation process).
If you want to try again (assuming the trial period has not run out), then let us help. When you do the install, you need to be sure you log in as the administrator (on Windows) and disable anti-virus. There may also be an issue of the compatibility of the trial version and your OS (you never mentioned). So there are possible fixes that might be able to help you play with the trial. -

wmf files is a MS Windows video file, you will need a tool to covert the wmf files to another file format OS X will read. Simply Google to find a converter you are interested in and use it.
