I am having problems downloading Flash Player on a Mac

I am having problems downloading / updating Flash Player on a Mac.  Installer runs to 30 and freezes.

Hi, First since you have the 64bit Windows, you need to use the 32bit browser as Adobe does not support Flash Player
for the 64bit.
Are you using any other browser?  Here are the instructions for Internet Explorer.
Download the Adobe Uninstaller to your Desktop: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html
Download the Installer and SAVE it to your Desktop:
http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player_ax.exe
Before you start you need to read over the Uninstall info and follow the Security settings, making sure no applications
are running that uses Flash. Anti-Virus/Spyware and Firewalls can interfere and so I would follow these steps after you
know how to disable these. Also you may benefit by reading this also:
http://go.adobe.com/kb/ts_tn_19166_en-us  You don't need to follow all of these, just be aware of what my apply to you.
1. After the Uninstaller and Installer are on your Desktop, then disconnect from the Internet.
2. Disable your Anti-Virus/Spyware and Firewall programs. (If you are using just the Windows Firewall, that is ok)
3. Make sure all apps that use Flash are disabled and check the system tray for that also.
4. Close All browsers and RUN the Uninstaller. When finished, Reboot(restart) your computer. When fully Rebooted, Reboot again( to clear out old files) When fully Rebooted,
5. RUN the Installer and when finished, Reboot ONCE.
6. Re enable your Anti-Virus/Spyware and Firewall and connect back to the Internet.
Go to this test site: http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/
If you have any questions after reading or before you start, please ask.
Thanks,
eidnolb

    Hello,
The last really supported Flash for PPC was 10.1.102.64, but if it's for like Facebook or such, people have been fooling FB to think they have a leter version installed.

Might be later ones around also... saw 11.3 I think.
(If you are running a PPC Mac with Flash Player 10.1.102.64 and are having problems with watching videos on FaceBook or other sites, contributor Texas Mac Man suggests the following solution which fools the site into thinking that you are running the latest version:)
Download this http://www.steelbin.com/FPforFBPPC.zip to your desktop, unzip it, and replace the current Flash Player plug-in which is in your main/Library/Internet Plug-Ins folder, (not the user Library). Save the old one just in case this one doesn't work.
You should also consider the Shockwave Player, which displays Web content that has been created by Adobe Director, much used for multimedia: For PPC Macs:  http://get.adobe.com/shockwave/
See in each Browser which version of Flash it thinks it has...

  • I can not download flash player on my Mac

I have a Mac with OS 10.9.5 and Safari 7.1. Since some time I am not able to upgrade or download flash player on my Mac (latest version 15.0.0.152). from the Adobe download center. Every time I try Safari gets stuck at step 2 of 3 (initialization) and keeps refreshing the page. To start fresh, I tried to uninstall flash player by downloading the uninstall .dmg offered at the flash player help page on the adobe website - even that one I can't download; if I click on it, it only refreshes the page and nothing else happens. So I uninstalled it "by hand", but I am not sure that I removed absolutely everything... Not sure if that matters. Apparently a plugin called SpeedTao is used by the Adobe website. Could there be a problem with that? I can not do anything to enable / disable / reset etc SpeedTao; Internet plugins are allowed and I have allowed adobe to use SpeedTao when it asks me for it.
I saw that someone else posted a similar question, but it remained unanswered; I could not find an answer...

    Hi leronica,
The Flash Player download page does not use the SpeedTao Download Manager.  This must've been installed on your system at some other time.  If you suspect SpeedTao is interfering with the Flash Player installation, and don't require SpeedTao on your system, you can remove it using a utility such as AppCleaner, or delete 'all' SpeedTao files (/Applications/SpeedTao.app, ~/Library/Preferences/net.speedtao.mas.SpeedTao.plist, ~/Library/Application Support/SpeedTao).  Removing just SpeedTao.app from /Applications doesn't completely remove it and Safari will still list it in the Plug-ins (I verified this before posting my response).  If you require, or don't want to remove, SpeedTao, you can try using the full installer, posted at the bottom of this page, Installation problems | Flash Player | Mac.

  • Help, we're having problems with Flash Player

    Hi.
Up until yesterday we had flash player and it was working normally.  Yesterday when we went onto IE8 we didn't have it any longer. Me and my mun tried downloading flash player for Windows XP on Internet Explorer again.  We untick the box saying to add a google toolbar which is optional. We click the download button at the bottom of the page and on the download page a blue box is meant to come up involving ActiveX.  The page comes up with the blue box but then the page goes off and a new page coming up with a cross in a red circle and next to it, it says "Internet Explorer has closed this webpage to help protect your computer" "A malfunctioning or malicious add-on has caused Internet Explorer to close this webpage.  Below this it comes up with a list of options:
    Go to your home page
    Try to return to Adobe.com
    More Information
We have tried clicking "Try to return to Adobe.com" many times and repeating the same process but the same thing still happens.
We don't know what to do as without Flash Player there is a limited number of things we can do. We have tried altering some of our settings but still no luck.  We are going round and round in circles.

Hello, Sorry you are having problems. I would like you to go to this Adobe test site with IE8. Can you see the animation and what version of Flash Player does it say you have?
If you use any other browser, test with it too.
Are you the Administrator and are you using that Account? It is necessary when Installing Flash Player.
After that you can download the Uninstall and SAVE it to your Desktop:
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html
Then download and SAVE the Installer for Internet Explorer to your Desktop:
    http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player_ax.exe
For now  just put these on your Desktop and then to the test above and let me know.
Also What Anti-Virus do you have?
    Thanks,
    eidnolb

I am using Safari and did the usual procedure (downloading the .dmg file, launching it, password... etc.) and the download gets stuck at 25% for hours. • Problems downloading Flash Player 11

Over the past week+, I have received a message stating that I needed to download Flash Player 11. Several attempts were "successful," but I still keep receiving the message that I need to download.
Also, on some attempts, I am told that Internet Explorer needs to be turned off. It is turned off, but the download will not continue and therefore becomes "unsuccessful."
What am I doing wrong? What's going on?

  • Constantly having to download Flash Player

How many times do I have to download this thing? I download it, install it and yet everytime I have to opportuinity to view something, "it" says I have to download Flash Player ... AGAIN! Very frustrating. Windows 7.

This is a known problem with Internet Exploder 11, which Microsoft has been aware of since October 18 when they released their latest "untested" browser. The pages can't recognize the browser, so they don't recognize any of the plugins, like Flash Player. So far, Microsoft has made NO indication that they have any plan to fix it soon.
Microsoft's recommendation is to use Compatibility View for affected pages, and "pretend" you're using an different browser. Trouble with that is it has seen limited success at best, and you have to individually enable it for EVERY page that has problems.
I'm not big on "pretending" so I recommend actually using another browser.
    Firefox (from Mozilla)
    Opera (from Opera)
    Safari (from Apple)
    Chrome (from Google)
ANY of those will work where IE11 won't, with the Flash Player Plug-in (For all other browsers), and Chrome doesn't even need that because it has its own Flash Player plugin built in.

  • Problems installing Flash player on my mac

I tried to install the latest version of flash on my i-mac. It didn't work so I followed the directions and uninstalled the old version. Now I cannot install the new version. The icon just bounces in the dock and won't respond. I've tried shutting down, restarting, clearing the caches, etc. Now Software Update won't work and neither will Quicktime. I've removed Firefox and am just running Safari 5.1. Did I f**k things up by uninstalling flash from my system? Help!

    Hello,
This morning we resolved a problem that prevented Flash Player installations from completing for some of our Macintosh users.
If you encountered this problem, please delete any previously downloaded Flash Player installer and either:
Download the installer again from https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer, OR
Download the stand-alone installer posted at the bottom of the http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/installation-problems-flash-player-mac.html in the ‘Still having problems’ section.
    Thank you,
    Chris

  • Downloading flash player on a Mac

Every time I try to download flash player, it says my software is out of date and not compatible with the latest version of flash.  My Mac software is up to date as of yesterday so I'm not sure what the problem is.  Help please!

You're in luck, to a point. 10.5 is out of date, but your system WILL run a newer OS X build. Apple, unfortunately, DOESN'T sell older versions, so you'd have no choice but to buy 10.8 and pay the full $129 for it. The good news is you can "migrate" everything you're presently using (with some very limited exceptions) right from 10.5 to 10.8 as you install, so you'll keep all your files and apps, but they'll just run in the new OS X.
You can find older versions of OS X on places like e-bay, but I have to warn you, a lot of people sell "pirated" or "OEM" discs and unless you have the right model of Mac that they were made for, they won't install, and you're out the money spent because the seller will disappear right after they get your payment.

  • Problems with Flash Player on a Mac

I recently installed the latest version of Flash Player on my Mac.  Now, it's broken.  Every site I go that uses Flash Player either displays a message "Missing plug-in" or "Typeerror: #1009"  (I think that last is correct - the message disappears from the screen after seconds and there's no way to capture it.
I'm on a Mac running 10.6.8 and the latest Flash Player downloaded today.  I've checked the preferences to make sure everything is set correctly (i.e. plug-ins enabled and Javascript enabled), I've gone into storage and deleted all the stored data in case something in there was corrupt.  I don't know what else I can do.
This version of Flash Player appears broken somehow.
Anyone know where I can download older versions that work?

Look at it this way: The websites that incorporate Flash on their sites wrote their code to follow the specs provided by Adobe.  If the new version doesn't work on those sites (where it worked before) then either Adobe changed the specs and didn't tell anyone, or the code they wrote is not backwards compatible.  Yes, I know there's an argument to be made for the sites writing bad code but that would account for a small number of sites, not dozens like I'm seeing.
Either way you look at it, whether I'm running the old version of Flash Player or the new version of Flash Player, there is a subset of websites (different in each case) that I cannot access content on, and that's Adobe's fault for the most part.  I now have to choose which subset of sites I can't access - the ones that won't work with the old version of the software or the ones that won't work with the latest version.
I've always been unhappy with Adobe.  This just makes me more so.  It's one of the reasons why I've vowed NEVER to buy an Adobe product and never to recommend Adobe products to anyone.  I only tolerate Flash and Adobe Reader because they're somewhat necessary.  If there was an alternative to them, I'd use it.  For the most part, I use Preview instead of Adobe Reader on my Mac and get along just fine.  But, I haven't found a good replacement for Flash.
If there's anyone out there from Adobe reading this thread: Fix your damn software!!
