You may have inadvertently installed adware. You do not need to download or install anything to fix it. It ought not to be related to any Apple security update.
For a description of how this may have occurred, how to avoid it in the future, and for Apple's recommended actions read How to install adware. Apple's instructions are linked in the Recovery Procedure near the end of that document. Read and follow them carefully. Pay particular attention to the easily overlooked passages directing you to restart your Mac when required.

  • Having problems with InDesign6 and the new OSX Mavericks

I just downloaded the new OSX and now my Id6 won't open. It starts initializing and the I get the message "InDesign quit unexpectedly." I am in the middle of publishing a book for someone using the "export to kindle" plug-in which isn't compatible with IdCC. Has anyone else had this problem?

I have just run into the same issue. New Macbook Pro running Maverick and I have Vectorworks 2011. Appple support recommends against partitioning the hard drive on a new MacBook Pro running Maverick. (The first call the apple person suggested it. On a follow up call they strongly recommend against doing it because it can screw up the firmware.) How did doing the downgrade work for you, and how did you do it, external drive, partition? I hate to drop $1300 on Vectorworks when I don't yet need it.

  • Since downloading OS X Mountain Lion my WordSearch9 will not open. I got a message that X11 was not supported and directed to a sited to download XQuartz. Now when I try to launch WordSearch9 I get a message "X11 cannot be found.

Since downloading OS X Mountain Lion my WordSearch9 will not open. I got a message saying that X11 was not supported and directed to a site to download an update "XQuartz" which I did. Now when I try to launch WordSearch9 I get a message "X11 cannot be found". I did follow the instructions to download and install XQuartz, but there still seems to be a problem. Anyone have an idea?

Your report indicates Mountain Lion, but your footer indicates Lion.  I'll assume you're on 10.8.2; on the current Mountain Lion version.
    Rebooting is fine.
The posted diagnostics look like there might be a problem with the Xquartz install, or it is not starting, or it's not authorized for the sandbox.  (But I don't know enough about that to be certain.)
Try launching X11.app directly from your Applications > Utilities folder, and see if that works, or if shows any dialog boxes, or that reports any errors.
If you had an Xquartz kit installed and it's not the 2.7.4 (current) Xquartz kit, then please update to that version.  (I'm assuming that site is where you got your Xquartz kit from, too.)
I'd also suggest also discussing this more directly with the Xquartz folks via mailing list or the IRC channel, or collecting up the Xquartz logs and then posting a bug over at the Xquartz site; here are the details on bug reporting for Xquartz.

  • Why am I getting a white screen after downloading to OSX Mountain lion from OSX Snow Leopard. What caused this?

I just upgraded to OSX Mountain Lion from OSX Snow Leopard, thinking this was the thing to do.  I have NEVER had any problems with Snow Leopard, but
after just a few days after downloading OSX Mountain Lion when I turned the computer on, the screen was white.  Stayed white.  I had to go onto another
computer to find out what to do.  What caused this and will this happen again?

Did you see a circle made of light grey hash marks in the center/bottom of the screen?  My iMac is 5 years old and for every update until 10.8.2 I would get the same white screen and the first few times I paniced and thought the machine was broken!  Just let it play out until the desktop comes back up and it should not do it again until you do a system update.

  • Problems with email since downloading iOS 5.0.1

I have an iPad 2 and on the original software the email was working perfectly
Since downloading iOS 5.0.1 I have had trouble with the email and list below some examples
    1) if I type a name into the cc column the email shuts down and returns to home screen
    2) if I type more than two letters into the "to" column the email shuts down and returns to the home page
This is really restrictive when trying to send group emails
I am computer illiterate and have no idea what to do
    Any advice would be great!

iOS 5.1 (not 5.0.1) is the current version. If you have 5.0.1 as you say I suggest you update to 5.1 and see if your problems are corrected.

  • Having problems with ebay since upgrading to 10.0.1

can anyone help?, i upgraded from 3.6 to the latest 10.0.1 a wk ago, all seems fine except when it comes to ebay, i cannot send a message to anyone! and ebay bless them just said today that the problem lies with firefox?,
hope someone can offer any help

I picked a random game and looked at their forums and some people were having problems.
One solution was to trash the preferences folder. However, that deleted any save points.
As I don't have any of the games, take a look you your user/Library/Preferences folder for a folder for the game or for BigFishGames. If there is just a plist file, you can try moving that to the desktop and start the game. The plist will be recreated by the app. If that doesn't work, try moving the entire folder to the desktop and try again. If that does solve it, you can try moving items one-by-one into the newly created folder and see which one causes it to fail.

  • Problem since downloaded OS X Mountain Lion :(

Since I downloaded the new OS X Mountain Lion, I'm having problems. It kept on restarting stating there has been a problem. What's happening? Please HELP!

After 2 months and (2 new hard drives and many Restores), I isolated the problem to Norton. The version I had came from my Internet provider (Comcast) and has been on my MacBook Pro (mid-2009) since Snow Leopard. There is no update for Mountain Lion. I simply removed Norton and ALL MY PROBLEMS DISAPPEARED that quickly.
If you do use an Antivirus, I highly recommend it be certified for Mountain Lion.
Listening to Thomas would have saved you 3 months. Nortons is worse than a virus attack on Macs from what I have read.
Use ClamXav if you really feel you need anything.
Glad you are up and running again.
    Cheers

  • Problem with iPad back up after installing Mountain Lion.

Since installing Mountain Lion, the camera roll on my iPad does not download pictures.  It's a first generation iPad.  Is it not compatible with Mountain Lion or is there something I can do?

Searching communities I found an Apple page Image Capture.  So I opened it with my iPad connected and the pictures were imported.  I still don't know whether I will have to do this every time or whether it has unblocked it!

  • Problems with Sinn7 Audio USB Interface on Mountain Lion

    Hi Guys.
I have problems with my USB Audio Interface Sinn7 Status 24/96 on Mountain Lion system.
When i istalled drivers, system doesn't detect the card. After the system reboot, when i pluck the card in to usb, system makes a kernel panic.
My hardware: MacBook Pro 15'' Late 2011 / OS X Mountain Lion / Audio Interface: Sinn7 Status 24/96.

    Hey DSevenPL,
Have you sorted this issue yet? I'm having the same problem on my mid 2012 Macbook Pro.
I had been running the sound card earlier on the same machine that you have (late 2011) w/out a problem but then got the new machine and it wouldn't read the sound card. Same issues as you.
Months of searching has turned up with nothing (and Sinn is unresponsive) so any insight would be greatly appreciated!

  • Problem with dual boot after upgrade to Mountain lion

    Hello Every One,
I have a Macbook pro from 2009 which had dual boot option Windows 7 + Snow Leopard.
The windows 7 had 2 partitions (C; and D: an extended partition).
I upgraded the OS X to Mountain lion. after upgrade the system showed 3 options at boot time. Mac, Windows and a recovery partition.
when i boot to windows the D: drive is gone...I mean even though i can see the partition in partition software, windows 7 stopped showing D: in "My computer".
So i used testdisk utility to get the D: drive back and now when i boot to mountain Lion i am able to access both C:(BOOTCAMP) and D: drives.
but now the problem is during boot time my Mac Book pro doesn't show the windows option.
Can some suggest a means to boot into windows 7? Also what is the purpose of recovery partition that Mountain lion adds to the system? I mean is it going to hurt if i get rid of it so that i can go back to my old configuration of 3  primary partitions (1 for windows 7 ...C: bootcamp + MountainLion) + 1 extended partition for D:
    any help would be appreciated?
    Regards
