I am having real problems setting up mulitple profiles on a windows 7 pc... help please

i have set up mulitple profiles on my other pc, op system xp pro, but i have tried doing exactly the same thing on this pc with windows 7 and it just wont work..
i get the new profile set up, and i set up a profile manager shortcut on my desktop, but when i try to sort out the shortcut to the new profile it tells me it cant find the target..
when i open the new profile in profile manager it doesnt sit separate on the taskbar and is only another page version of my default profile...
firefox exe sits in a really weird address on the comp "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox"
i am tearing my hair out so any help you can give would be truly appreciated...

Each instance of firefox.exe would be on the Windows Task bar, but make sure that you are not pinning them to the task bar. Right click on each one and if you see "Unpin" then unpin it. You can add them to your quick launch as directed in one of my links -- Quick Launch is pretty much hidden in Windows 7 because they were pushing pinning tabs to the task bar (same kind of lunacy is seen in Firefox changes).
To help you know what you are dealing with in the WTM add the "Command Line": column in the "Processes" tab.
To unstack the commands on your Windows Task bar
:see http://dmcritchie.mvps.org/windows-7/win7.htm#taskbar

I am having real problems with my hotmail account not working on my IMac but works absolutely fine on my Iphone 5. Can anyone help with the setup for iMac. I am with BT for my Broadband. I am cionverned if I route my Hotmail accoutn to GMail will iy stop working on my Ipone.

How are you accessing Hotmail?  Via your web browser?  Are you using Apple Mail?  Outlook?
The answer will be different depending on how you want to access Hotmail.
If you are using an email client (like Apple Mail, Outlook, Entourage, etc.)) then you need to set up a mail account in your email software.
The incoming Hotmail settings are these:
    Incoming server: pop3.live.com
User name: Your full Hotmail email address (aka "me @ hotmail.com" or "me @ live.com")
    Password: Your Hotmail password
    POP port: 995
Use SSL to connect : yes
    The outgoing Hotmail settings are:
    Outgoing server: smtp.live.com
User name: Your full Hotmail email address
    Password: Your Hotmail password
SMTP port: 587 (override the default port if necesssary)
Use SSL to connect : yes

Just moved my email from Entourage to Mail. Having real problems with getting my signatures to work properly despite sending email as Rich Text.
When adding in a small company logo to the signature, PC's / windows computers only receive signature and logo as attachments.
I've tried all possible fixes I can find including getting a PC user to format the logo but no joy. Has anyone experienced this and any ideas on a fix gratefully received.

Send it as html so the signature is an image source URL

  • I am having some problems setting up my new Airport Express! Can anyone help?

Im having real problems connecting to my home wifi from my i phone 4s, it just keeps saying unable to join even though the password is correct,
I have tried resetting my network settings but to no avail,
yesterday I reset all settings then it actually worked, however today the problem started again so I repeated the reset but it still isn't working
This has only started happening since i upgraded software to ios6
    Please help

Here is what I would do:
Shutdown all computers connected to the router.
    Power off the router.
Power off the modem (cable or DSL).
    Wait 30 seconds.
Power on the modem. Ensure all lights are lit and the modem is online.
Power on the router. Ensure it's communicating to the modem.
Turn on your Macbook Pro first (the one experiencing the issue. Check it's connection. If it's still having issues, removed the networks it can attach to, turn off WiFi; then turn WiFi back on and reconnect to your WiFi network.
Turn on other Macs in household. Check their connections.
Sometimes "rebooting" the modem and router fixes connectivity issues.

  • I am having a problem installing the x86 drivers on a Windows 2008 server for a hp 4000n.

I am having a problem installing the x86 drivers on a Windows 2008 server for a hp laserjet 4000n.

    Hi all,
Sylonious, did you manage to sort this problem out? I have been experiencing similar problems. I think my problem was because I had many different versions of JDKs. I have done a complete re-install. I would be really grateful to you (and anyone else) for help with this problem.
I have re-installed JSDK1.4.2_03, set the "path" variable to "C:\JSDK1.4.2_03".
When I compile using "javac" I get an error saying "javac" is not recognised.
When I compile using "C:\j2sdk1.4.2_03\bin\javac Freq.java" no error is thrown.
Every time I try to run a java file, I always get the NoClassDefFound error. When run with the -verbose option, files are loaded from C:\Program Files\Java\j2re1.4.2_03\bin - is this correct?
I have removed all previous references to java in the registry editor.
    Please help !
    Regards,
    Vipul

The latest flash player release is 11,0,1,152.

Go to get.adobe.com/flashplayer to download and install flash player.

My computer crashes repeatedly and I get the message pages are not responding do you want to stop, and/or shockwave is not responding do you want to stop. I have Windows XP Service Pack 3, I am having the same issues whether I use Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, or Mozilla Firefox. My HP Pavilion Desktop has 504 MB of Ram and I am using high speed internet connection. Because it was crashing so much, I used the uninstall program for Flash player to uninstall Flash, I checked my registry and removed anything I saw that was Flash. I then uninstalled Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox, then I reinstalled the most recent versions from their websites. I did the same for FlashPlayer and Shockwave Flash. I went to the Adobe website and had them check to see if it was working and it shows I have FlashPlayer 10.3.181.36. The page that shows  which version of flash player goes with Windows XP states that I should have 10.3.181.34 (This is what I thought I had before I updated, I was having the same problems). When I went into my computer to see what version I have, it shows 11.5.9.620 Activex and both Flash Player and Flash Player Object is listed as 10.3.181.34. My firewall for Windows is set to medium. I also am running Norton Internet Security. It takes anywhere from 3-6minutes for some of my games to load, and I have to refresh at least 3-4 times in order to play. When I do start to play it freezes frequently and I use escape to free it up. This has been going on for a month. I have no idea what to do. I am not very computer savy and I have been learning as I go.

  • Having lots of problems with my firefox. It does not download when I click unless I restart the firefox many times. It does not open a new windows. Help please!

    2 problems:
    1. Files aren't downloaded when I click download. It only downloads after I restart the firefox many times.
    2. New windows aren't being opened.
Help please. I've encountered the first problem since way back, but it wasn't this severe, now the downloading is very limited as I have to restart firefox many many times.

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window or otherwise make changes.
    *https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Troubleshooting+extensions+and+themes
Some security software is also able to block new window.
Which security software (firewall, anti-virus) do you have?
It is possible that your security software (firewall, anti-virus) blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

Fisrt off, let me say this is my first stabe at this, so bear with me.
I set up apache, php and mysql, and pretty much successfully. I can connect to my web server via IP. But if I try to connect to it via the hostname it fails. Like I said, I can connect to this from other machines on my network via IP, but not hostnames. Any thoughts?

I know this post is a couple months old but for future reference:
    The problem is with /etc/hosts.allow
    You need to add
    httpd: ALL
Once you all that youll have external access to your apache setup.

  • New Time Capsule... real problems setting up!

    Hello!
Well.. here goes. Hoping some of you guys out there will be able to help!
Went and decided to treat myself to a Time Capsule yesterday seen as my small ext-hd i was using for backup is now full and only holds about a fortnights worth of back ups.
I tried for several hours last night to get it to work, unfortunately it didnt work.
I first tried the 'join existing network' and i set it up, only to get to the restart point and the system never found my time machine again.
I then did a full reset of it, and tried again, except this time choosing to 'replace existing network' - got all set up, and the same again - cannot find after restart/update of settings.
So i finally tried to create new network, got the green light, but then no internet.
I've gone through all the steps again today and i'm getting really annoyed now, very tempted to return to the shop!
My current set up that works is:
Cable broadband > Modem > Wireless Linksys WRT54GS Router.
I then connect wirelessly from my Mac (OS X Snow Leopard) to the web, and this works fine.
My current ext-HD is simply connected via firewire.
I was hoping to use the new time capsule to backup wirelessly, (with alot more storage!) and share my printer wirelessly, with the added benefit of possibly using the time capsule as a replacement router.
I've tried doing software update and the like with airport, but with no luck.
If anyone could help me get this set up right it would be much appreciated!
    Many Thanks.

Have you powered your cable modem down for at least 25-30 minutes before you attempt to use it with the Time Capsule?
Cable modems need a complete reset whenever the device that they are connected to changes. Your modem is probably remembering your Linksys, so it will not provide the correct connection for the Time Capsule.
