I am having trouble getting audio from a DVD.

Initially when I insert the DVD i get audio playing. Then, I pair my bluetooth headphones, they say they are connected but I get no audio from the laptop speakers or from my headphones. I disconnect the headphones and still get no audio from the laptop. I have ejected the DVD and tried to start over and still have no audio. I would like to have audio from my bluetooth headphones because this is a workout DVD. Oh, I can get audio from itunes when my headphones are connected.

There are differences among MacBook models in that most cannot use audio over HDMI, and according to at least one answered reply here in ASC discussions, you'd need another cable or adapter for audio if you don't have a 2010 MacBook...

Having trouble "getting" video from a DVD.

When trying to "get" video from a DVD I have recorded using a Magnavox DVD recorder, Premier Elements 4 will only import a portion of the video. The entire recorded video is viewable if I watch the DVD on a player so I know it is all there. This is only happening with video recorded on this one particular recorder. It is also only happening with Premier Elements 4. We also use Final Cut Pro and it works fine with DVD's from this recorder.
If anyone has any answers please let me know.

VCR/DVD burners can produce some mixed quality video files, Richard, particularly if they're recorded to a low quality disc (like Memorex).
The wisest move would be to convert those DVD files to DV-AVIs using a program like MPEG Streamclip or VirtualDubMOD (both free), per the FAQs at the top of this forum.

In Firefox 3.6.4 and later the default connection settings have been changed to "Use the system proxy settings".<br />

If you do not need to use a proxy to connect to internet then select No Proxy

This situation has been causing me much stress and frustration for about a week now and I really hope I can get help here.
I got my first iPhone 5 this past June and synced purchases from my mom's computer to my phone and was able to use my own Apple ID to purchase music to my phone just fine. Everything was fine with having purchases from my Apple ID and from my mom's Apple ID on my phone until I recently got my new HP 2000 laptop with Windows 8 and set up an iTunes library under my own Apple ID. Before setting up iTunes on my computer, I cleared out my music library (containing songs purchased from my Apple ID and my mom's) due to an issue with my playlists. I re-synced my phone with my music on my computer and ran into a problem: I had to delete apps and tones bought with my mom's Apple ID. Not caring or thinking I let it delete the few apps and tones I synced from my mom's library. I got all my songs back on my phone and fixed the playlist issue. Everything was good, but I have songs and other purchases on my mom's account that I want on my phone. I read that I can't sync with two libraries though, which is a bummer. So, I decided to just sign in to her account on my phone and re-download purchases right from there. Well, when I tried I got a warning that stated, "this device is already associated with another Apple ID" and it tells me if I want to transfer purchases from her account, I'll have to wait 90 days if I want to re-download purchases from other Apple ID's? What does that mean? Is there away around all this so I can get purchases from other accounts on my phone without running into that warning? Will I be able to get the purchases to my phone at all?
I apologize if this is confusing, I'd be more than happy to provide any further clarification to those willing to help me. All replies are very much appreciated. Thank you to those who can help in advance!

Get audio from a DVD onto CD?

I just got a DVD of the Cream Albert Hall concert. I want to get the sound onto a CD so that I can play it in the car or on my iPod. Is there a way to do this? I don't want to just buy the CD too. For one thing, the CD doesn't have all the songs that the DVD has.

First of all denke, welcome to the discussions!
I hope that your head is not spinning after reading my post - LOL!
It is not a quick process, but it certainly can be done. I have followed this process for several concert DVDs that I own and I am quite happy with the results. Best of all, it can all be done with free software, but there is one small program to buy to give it a more professional touch and amke it much easier on the ears.
First, download OSEx. This will allow you to extract only the audio files from a DVD.
To demux/extract only the audio with OSEx, splitting the audio in one file per chapter (usually equivalent to a song for music videos):
- After starting OSex and inserting your music video DVD, make sure the correct title is selected by clicking on the "TI" button.
- Click on the "VID" button an deselect the video stream(s).
- Click on the "Aud" button and select the appropriate audio stream (usually 2 channel AC3).
- Click on the "Fmt" button and select "Elem. streams."
- Click on the "Seg" button and select "Chapter" to split the audio by track in separate files.
- Click "Begin" to start audio axtraction.
If you have a few songs that span several DVD tracks and have no break in them, you can encode them as one audio track by selecting those tracks together and encoding them as a single selection.
Then, download mAC3dec. This is a program that will convert the resulting AC3 files from OSEx into MP3s. I use the highest bitrate - 320 - so that my audio is as close to the source as possible.
Then - the finishing touch - but one that costs $10.95. It is well worth it. Download MP3 Trimmer. This sweet little program allows you to trim the beginning and ends of files off and even apply a fade in and out without re-encoding the file and eliminating the resulting loss of sound quality. This means that you can cut the applause out of the beginnings and endings of the tracks, and since you can fade in and out, you lessen the "shock" of the breaks in the tracks that can be so annoying.
All in all, it sounds harder than it actually is, but it is well worth it for a whopping $10.95 for all three programs.
BTW, I am not connected with these companies at all and receive no compensation of any kind. It is just a process that I did a lot of research on and came up with these three programs and the steps to create a nice, professional sounding CD from concert DVDs.

Having trouble getting RPM from prox sensor

I've been trying to use a proximity sensor to find the RPM on a dyno, but am having some trouble with the LV coding (I'm new to LV). Using a cRIO 9012 with NI 9205 module. The prox sensor basically gives about an 8V signal when a tooth on a gear passes in front of it (theres 15 teeth). While I can get the counter part going, I can't get anything after that part in the code to work, in order to find the RPM. I think one problem might be with timing, where the prox sensor will be going at about 500 Hz, so I'm not sure if thats giving the differential function problems? Is a timing loop even the right thing to use? Eventually I'd like this to run standalone on the cRIO and write to a USB stick but I know how to do that part. If anyone could help me solve this or let me know a better way to find the RPMs it would be much appreciated. I've tried everything I can think of, I couldn't get functions that find the frequency or period to work when I made the signal into a waveform (square wave) even though I thought that would be the simplest method. You should take a look at the LabVIEW examples specific to cRIOs (LabVIEW Help > Find Examples > Hardware Input and Output > CompactRIO)? Under the Basic IO folder, there are a few good examples for reading analog input, and there is even an example in the Module Specific folder designed for a 9205. For that latter example, you would need to change your chassis to be the 9111 (add a new chassis, and move the module under that chassis).
After you have the signal, you can just count the number of time the signal is greater than 7V (or some threshold that will be sure to catch the 'highs' indicative of a tooth passing the sensor). Every time this count is a multiple of 15 (15 teeth per revolution), you could log the time. This would give you an effective RPM.

Having Trouble getting data from iphone 4 to itunes so I can ultimately transfer to 4s.

Original itunes machine is dead, so I deauthorized all machines and authorized current machine and couldn't sync items from phone to machine. Apple then told me to uninstall itunes and reinstall, have done so but still can't get it to sync all items from phone to itunes library. (It only synced purchased songs, none of the apps) I want all the data on my phone to go to my computer, not what is on computer but can't get there. Any suggestions?

Media sync (music videos, etc.) is 1 way. Computer to iPhone. Items purchased on the phone can be transferred using File>Transfer Purchases in iTunes. If you have music on the phone that was synced to it from another computer but not purchased from iTunes, you will either have to use the backup of your old computer to get it on the new one, as suggested above, or invest in 3rd party software to extract it from the phone.

Having trouble getting audio broadcasts on on my iPod

I am using iTunes 6 because, so far, I have not dared to upgrade to 7.0.1 or 7.0.2 (after reading discussions on the subject)
I am trying to populate my iPod with a three section audio program. The three sections are about 36 minutes each. Some time all three go on without problems, however, more often than not itunes will hang up on one of the 3 sections and freeze. When I go to the activity monitor I find one program stopped with the following message;
systemUIserver (not responding).
At this point I cannot get control of the computer to restart except by holding down the power key and that wipes out everything! Very frustrating!
Anybody have any idea what might be going on??

Trouble Getting Files From mini-DVD (Handycam)

I don't know the first thing about those little camcorders that record to mini-DVD, but I'm working on a movie for a girl's dance team, and while most of what they gave me to work with was miniDV on an external HD, they did give me a mini-DVD with just under four minutes of footage on it to use also. Fortunately that disc isn't very important to them, and I don't really have to use it.
Anyway, I can't play the disc in my set-top DVD player; it says there's no disc. My computer's DVD player will play it fine using PowerDVD Player. I tried to rip the disc using DVD-Shrink and it acts like there's no disc in the tray too. Then I managed to rip it to the desktop as an ISO image with DVD-Decrypter with no problems. After that I tried to open the ISO image with DVD Shrink and it says: "Invalid UDF File System".
So, anyone have any idea how I can get the VOB files from this ISO image?

Well I think I kind of did that Bill. That is, I managed to rip the DVD to the desktop via DVD Encrypter and then burned the new ISO file to a new DVD. It still wouldn't open with anything I have that converts ISO to VOB files.
I looked at Sony's website about Handycams and it says this:
"After finalizing the disc in the camcorder, the disc can play back in most DVD Players".
The disc they gave me is a DVD-RW. Maybe the disc hasn't been finalized?
But Sony also says:
"With DVD+RW media there is no need to finalize the disc (minimum recording required); simply remove the finalized disc and insert the media into a compatible DVD or Blu-ray Disc Player."
But the disc they gave me is DVD-RW rather than DVD+RW. At any rate I'm wondering now if maybe they should have finalized the disc before giving it to me and forgot to do it. The disc only has about 4-minutes of footage on it, so I'm guessing maybe they didn't finalize it because they thought they would add more later. I'll have to track down the owner and see what they have to say.

What country are you in ? If you aren't in the US and the address on your account isn't in the US then try going to the bottom of the Featured tab in the App Store app on your iPad and tap on your account id, tap on 'View Apple ID' on the popup and log into your account, and then select the Country/Region section and select your country.
