If you are using the included Apple charger, you will simply need a plug adapter.

I am traveling from the US to France and have a Macbook Pro. Can I just use a plug adaptor or do I need a power converter to plug in?

Just an adapter to change the US plug style to the one in the country you are going to. The AC charger will do the rest. It is rated for 120-240 volts and will adjust on  its own.

  • I am travelling from the US to France and England - do I need a voltage converter or can I just plug my iphone 4 and ipad into a plug converter?

Both France and UK use 240 v and I have a US iPad and iPhone4.  Can I just just the plug converter or do I need to use a voltage converter for both?
    Thanks!

No voltage conversion needed, just an adaptor for the plug, anywhere you go.

  • HT1338 hello! I need help, how come I can't receive new messages on my mail in my Macbook Pro? but I can receive it on my Iphone4s. thanx!

hi there! can somebody please help me. I can't receive new messages in my MacBook Pro, what should I do? I can read them in my IPhone though. Thanx!

Yes I was able to send but not receive - I actually was able to solve it myself
Everything on the menu bar was greyed out - so nothing there helped me @ all
Connection Doctor didn't show anything wrong
    activity box was completely blank
    shutdown - restart didn't work
I used the help option    - still nothing
All the while my phone was vibrating like crazy with new emails
It was really frustrating & it seemed apple themselves don't have any real solutions to offer
My instincts told me to delete the email completely - so I did
After a few min I added the email account like a new one and it eventually worked - all my new emails were there, I still don't know why it stopped in the 1st place
Pretty much all the problems I run into I troubleshoot myself and find the solution

  • Taking white MacBook from US to UK. Do I need a power converter?

I recently purchased a white 13" MacBook for college, which is in the UK.
Am I going to need a power converter for my MacBook when I go to the UK? The voltage in the US is 110V, and the voltage in the UK is 220V.
    Thanks!

Your power adapter will work with 110 or 220 V. However, the actual 220 V socket is different. You'll need a little adapter that just converts the standard US outlet into the standard 220 V UK outlet. Apple sells a whole kit, but that's sort of overkill:
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MB974ZM/A?fnode=MTY1NDEwMQ&mco=NjcxMjczMg
I'm not sure which specific plug you would need. I'm sure someone here can chime on on which one would be appropriate then you can pick up just the plug you need vs. an entire kit.

  • I only show one iCloud on my IPhone that can do a restore. I synced it with my MacBook Pro and I think that may have messed things up. Prior to that I have several backups. Will a "genius" be able to access the info I need?

If things seem to be going haywire with your phone, it seems that it MAY be a software issue.
Now, that being said, that does not necessarily mean that it is a virus. Software issues do happen sometimes. It is probably just coincidence.
What you need to do is restore the device using iTunes. This will fix any software issues. After you have done this, you can restore from an iCloud backup.
iCloud does not back up the actual software, so no, the "virus" would not have gotten into the backups.
The link below provides steps on restoring your device using iTunes as well as how to restore from an iCloud backup.

Don't worry! Everything should be back to normal if you follow these steps.

    Hi kamfong,
    Went to Settings where?
If you want to use your exisiting Apple ID on your iPad, you need to:
    1.     Go to Settings>iTunes & App Store and sign out the new ID, and then sign on the old one
    2.     Go to Settings>iCloud, scroll to the bottom and delete the iCloud account, and the sign back onto iCloud using the old ID
You still have not indindated why you are saying that using your old ID originally "didn't work". What do you mean by that? Did you get some sort of error when you tried to sign on with your exisiting Apple ID?
    Cheers,

  • Can you give me some reasons about why I need to buy an iPod touch 5.Although I have the iPhone ,iPod nano, iPad ,MacBook pro,I think the iPod touch 5 is so attractive that I can't help buying it at once.If I have it,what I can do with it,can you tell me?

All I can say is that I REALLY like my Touch 4th gen because I have all sorts of capabilities in a small form: e-mail, web browsing, news, weather, books, magazines, etc. etc.  Plus lots and lots of apps out there, including so many free ones.  I use the Cloud a lot so it's great to have everything sync'd to my MacBookPro (e-mail, Evernote, Pocket, etc.)
It would be easier, though, to do some of this, especially magazines, on the iPad mini, but, again, I love the small size of the Touch.
As for the 5th gen instead of the 4th, the fifth has Siri and the 3D feature in maps, which are great.  And I'm sure it's a lot faster in iOS 6 than the 4th gen.  And cool colors!
    Don't know if this helps . . .

  • As a Verizon FIOS client, can we just use Ethernet cable to connect to time capsule, or do we need their router to connect to the time capsule?

As a Verizon FIOS client, can we just use Ethernet cable to connect to time capsule or do we need the Verizon router to connect to time capsule?

The Time Capsule is indeed a wireless router with simultaneous dual band capability...and a hard drive for backup purposes. You can use that to your advantage if you configure the Time Capsule as I suggested in Bridge Mode.
The Time Capsule will provide a 802.11n 5 GHz band and a 802.11n/g/b compatible 2.4 GHz band to allow virtually any device to connect to the network.
I suppose that you could also use the "g" wireless network provided by the Verizon router as a "guest" network or something similar if you really do need another wireless network.
It might be possible to configure the Time Capsule as the main router on the network....that's a question for Verizon. But even if you might be able to do this, I'm sure it is not supported by Verizon, so you would be on your own in the event of any Internet connection difficulties on your service.
And, since the Time Capsule does not have a built in modem....you would still need to add a separate modem to the installation anyway.
That's why my suggestion is to use the Verizon device as the "modem" and let the Time Capsule provide the dual band wireless network and of course, handle the Time Machine backups.

  • Does my Macbook Air need a power converter in the UK?

I am traveling to the UK soon - will I need a power converter for my MacBook Air, iPad and iPhone?
    thanks

Input voltage for iPad and iPhone is same. 100 -240 Volts.
You will need plug adapters for those power adapters.
    No converters are necessary.

  • Do i need phantom power for a condenser mic to use with garageband?

i have learned condenser mics need phantom power. if i would hook up a MXL 900 series condenser to my MacBook via an XLR to 1/8" cable, would it work? does garageband have some sort of amplification plug-in? or would i need some sort of mixer or otehr phantom power device for it to work?
    MacBook 2.0gHz (White)   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

condenser mics need phantom power to work at all, it has nothing to do with amplification.
you need an interface or mixer that supplies phantom power, or an external phantom power supply to use your condenser mic.

  • Do I need a power converter for my ipad in Ireland?

Do I need a power converter for my ipad2 and my macbook air (11 inch 2010) in Ireland?
Sorry, I'm new to this site and just found the answer to my question in another post.

I was on my way out earlier and didn't have time to see if easily bought in USA, but I also would have suggested a power strip for the UK. Also, not aware of Picachu's needs - if traveling with others, etc., ...
For many years, once our sons got ipods, I have always brought a power strip (w/usb) on vacations and even on long weekends to weddings for all the items I listed above plus rechargeable tooth brushes, beard trimmers, and two ipads. It has made recharging so much easier. (I have friends in similar situations who hadn't thought to bring a power strip for charging things for their family all at once overnight.)
So thanks for bringing it up. Meanwhile, Picachu got an answer early and without having checked 'get e-mail notif.' he/she might not have a clue. Still happy you brought it up.
    Thanks.
