  • I mashed the buttons and now my L200P doesn't work!

    Hi guys,
I recently bought a second-hand ThinkVision L200P. I installed it behind a large sheet of glass, which seems to have had the unfortunate effect of pressing all the buttons at once for an extended period of time, and now my L200P doesn't display an image.
I opened up the L200P case (it's second hand) and took out the little 'button bar' PCB to make sure none of them were stuck in. By pressing the little switches on the PCB, I see the following behaviour:
Upon pressing the power button, I see the 'IBM Thinkpad' splashscreen for a moment, then it disappears. I think it used to then say 'Power Saving mode' but it doesn't anymore.
Upon presssing and holding the menu button for 10 seconds, I get the message 'Menu Locked'. If I press and hold for a further 10 seconds, I get 'Menu Unlocked'. The text is clear and bright green
None of the other buttons appear to do anything, even after pressing them many times and holding them for long periods
Powering on while holding 'left' and 'right' arrows does nothing
Holding 'right' arrow without any connectors in does nothing
My hunch is that mashing the buttons has somehow, say, turned down the brightness and contrast and locked the menu or something. But I don't know how to undo it.
What should be my next step? Like I said I've opened the case, so I'd be happy to 'hard reset' the unit by shorting a jumper or something.
    Regards,
    Richard.

Lcd screen are not consumer serviceable parts.......... it is not like a laptop. There is no hard reset in LCD monitors like you are suggesting. You would need a new PCB from somewhere, you could try to source a broken L200p and salvage that part, but other than that there is little you can do.

  • Buttons mashed.

Hey, not a major problem, but as I don't want my phone vibrating on my wooden bedside table whilst my family and I are asleep, I keep my phone on my bed, next to my pillow. However I must have lent on it during the night and now one side of the keyboard, the buttons are very "soft" to the touch, and don't click when pressed, and although they still work, this is annoying, and the same goes for the middle button. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on how to resolve the problem, as I only got it last week
    It's a Curve 9300 by the way.

I m new to multisim, i need pcb layout of a cicuit. can anyone make it? i m attaching the circuit diagram. plzzzzzz, its urgent. i have to submit the project in my college. plz try to make it single layer.

    Hello,
Multisim is not the right software for PCB layout design. That would be Ultiboard. With the integration between the 2 you can create your circuit in Multisim and transfer it to Ultiboard to easily design your one layer board. There are a lot of tutorials online that can help you do this. If you feel you need instruction, you can always book a class (online or on-site) to learn Multisim/Ultiboard.

  • PCB 2 Needs re-start to boot

Whenever I start my PC from sratch it detects mem, and PATA hard drive, CD Drive and DVD drive and then just hangs before detecting SATA drives. When I press restart it goes!!
This happens regardeless of memory timings or DOT mode.
Incidently when it goes it runs fine with memory at 2 2 3 5, Performance = Fast and DOT = colonel.
    SATA Raid 0 seems slow.
    Any comments

    Possibilities:
    1. PowerSupply takes time to stabilize from cold start - replace PSU
    2. SATA drives havent finished recalibrating - try longer POST cycle by doing full memory test

  • Tech Query - Need Replacement Circuit Board Part - PCB Receptacle

    Greetings,
While upgrading my iBook hard drive, I broke the power button wire socket off the circuit board.
I am trying to find out what the heck the part number is and where to get a replacement.
It is the part talked about on the following webpage:
    http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/51.12.11.html
"The connectors at the ends of the cables are attached very firmly to the sockets on the logic board. Pulling directly on the cable will either separate the cable from its connector or the socket from the logic board."
    Thanks

The piece in question is fairly simple to find, as it is mainly used for speaker/switch/sensor connectors. I've disassembled many brands, and I have seen that particular connector alot. I usually order from digikey, (www.digikey.com) and get most of my specific parts from there. I happen to have a G4/867 Powerbook on my bench right now, doing a search since the customer had broken not only the recepticle free from the mainboard, but also the plates from the mainboard that the conductors touch, but doing a sight-trace of the board, I think the edge connectors are also connected with the central conductors of the recepticle, thus making the sides the actual contacts for the switch. I was unable to turn it on by bridging those, though, and assumed that the entire thing had to be re-attached. I was able to place two flattened squares of solder over the board under the recepticle. (Which has two plastic retaining feet, thank Jobs) so now it is firmly back in there, but I think I am going to have to use a solder pen to get the contacts to touch the mainboard, since solder doesn't stick to silicone very well.

    Hi! I really need help....
I´m doing a simulation where I can controller the input and output with one external PCB, all is working properly (the communication) but my problem is, I can´t open where ever I want the different valves...I mean, I must wait until the process is finish...
The program is working with diferents process like this:
    §Process 0:
Programinitialization. Tanks and pipes in zero state. Control for this state with  “pump on” button.
    §Process 1:
        §State:
“ Pump on ” button istrue: Pump 1 isrunning, andTank 1 starts to be filled with water.
“ Pump on ” button is false: nothing happen, go to the next process
    §Process 2:
This process is controlled from the “Control 1”button with is who control “Valve 1” for the discharge of water from tank 1 to tank 2.
    §Process 3:
This processiscontrolledfromthe “Control 2 ”button with is who control “Valve 2” for the discharge of water from tank 1 to tank 2 if “Control 3 ” button is close or if “Control 3 ”button is open the water go out from the loop.
    §Process 4:
This processgiveyoutheoptiontocome back totheprocess 1 ortotheprocess 2 dependingofthestate in process 3.
So my problem is I want  run different processes in the same time, without having to wait out the current process is running....
    this look like this:
and with the differents states...so I was trying to use a Statechart for try to improve the simulation....
    like this:
But when I was tried to implement in labview with the statechart module i can't find the way to interconexión with this new module...
Because i need two differents regions...but i can't use the connexion between them....
Some new idea, help....all is welcome!!!
    Thanks in advance.

  • Need to replace HD + (possibly) battery

Hi -- I've got a MBP 4,1 (Early 2008) -- and the hard drive is starting to make pretty loud noises.  It coincided (at least I *think* it did) with a repair that the Apple Store did on a the case or housing that includles the trackpad & surrounds the keypad.  But I figure that's just a coincidence.
    1.  At any rate, I've got a Fujitsu 200GB drive that came with the machine.  And though I've been pretty good about backing up my data, I think it may be time to replace the drive (I assume the symptoms are awful noises -- but maybe not?).  Specs on the current drive are at the end of this message.
    Will this drive fit:
    Western Digital 750GB

WD7500BPVT 750GB 5400 RPM 8MB Cache 2.5" SATA 3.0Gb/s Internal Notebook Hard Drive -Bare Drive
Also -- I don't understand the difference between 5400 RPM and 7200 RPM.  I understand what RPM literally means -- but will either of these speeds work with my machine (a google search suggests so but I wasn't sure) or is my choice of harddrives confined to one particular speed?  I don't see any particular RPM spec for my current HD in the System Profiler.
    2.  In addition, the system profiler suggests that the battery be "replace[d] soon".

  • 2008's MacBook Pro needs a new battery?

    Hi!
My client said his four years MacBook Pro's old battery doesn't last long these days -- about 20 minutes and then shuts off. No warnings or anything. Even the status show 25% battery power left. Does this old MBP need to get a new battery or need to reset/fix the charge status? If it just needs a reset/fix, then what's the best/correct way to do that? Also, Mac OS X 10.5.8 has all the updates. If it needs a new battery, then what's the best place to get a new one in Los Angeles/L.A. or Orange County/O.C. area? From a local Apple store?
    Thank you in advance.

Thank you. Is there a specific battery model to buy for this old MBP? Hmm, maybe it is just easier to go to a local Apple store and get a battery replacement and to get help (especially when bringing in the old MBP) from one of the Apple store guys (hopefully, expired AppleCare won't matter).

    Hi JasonLiu,
I'm wondering if you bought the Apple Care when bought the MB, or just called to Apple to say the problem, because I have my 15 months old MB P (so, out of warranty), I don't have any Apple Care and my battery went form 99% to 14% in 3 months!!
I'm dessesperated and afraid (and scared!)

  • R7950 TF3 OC BE with 7950 PCB

Hi everyone. This is my first post so please go easy on me!
I've been gradually putting together a new machine over the last couple of months and finally got around to upgrading my 5850 card. I want to incorporate the new card into my water loop and fit it with a Heatkiller 79X0 waterblock. Having done my research, I know I need a card with a 7970 reference PCB for the Heatkiller to fit. So, after reading many comments about people ordering 7950 TF3s and finding they have 7970 PCBs, I ordered what's called a "3GB MSI R7950 TF 3GD5/OC BE". I assume the BE bit refers to Boost Edition as there's a "Boost Edition" sticker on the box.
Anyway, I opened the box and unfortunately it has a 7950 PCB (with 6+6 pin power) so won't be able to take a Heatkiller block.
Have I just been unlucky and received old stock or is the "BE" edition different to the normal "OC" which, I believe, has the 7970 reference PCB?
Any help would be most gratefully received, especially if anyone can point me in the direction of exactly which version of the R7950 TF3 I need to order to be sure it has the 7970 PCB.
    Thanks, guys!

Sorry to hear that. I've been searching for the difference between mine and the BE and now I know. Wonder why MSI reverted the design back to the 7950 PCB?

That's the one you need, and you'll find it at most major online retailers.

  • Qosmio G30 and vga/pcb problems

My Qosmio G30 has developed a vga/pcb problem.
Toshiba engineers tell me the vga/pcb is corrupt and needs to be replaced but since this is built-in the whole mother board must be replaced.
The cost for this is nearly half the cost of the original machine and much more than many new Toshiba notebooks.
Anyone have similar problem or experience anyone have any suggestions.
    Edited by: ADMIN

To me this clearly sounds like the problem that stroke me last weekend - obviously the NVidia GPU died and causes the trouble. Check if your machine is still under warranty - if not i would claim goodwill.
If the repair-costs are too high for you i would sell it on Ebay and get another machine as the technology level is two years (which is a century in computer-business) and you can get better performance at a lower price-point - even if it hurts to let the G30 go.

  • MSI 990FXA-GD65 [MS-7640 PCB 3.0] throttling issue

Hi, i'm on the last official BIOS (J.90) and my CPU throttle to 4x multiplier on my Phenom II X6 1090T.
I got this problem on every cold start. And i need to reboot in order to temporary fix it...until the next cold start.
I noticed that when i got the problem, the temperature readings are out of range: right now i'm stuck on X4 and AMD overdrive shows a constant 197°C on all cores and OCCT reports constant 255°C. So i figure it's related to throttling protection based on false/wrong temp values from the temp sensor.
My CPU voltage is low, the big Noctua is properly installed and very cool (i can feel the heatpipes very cold!)
I tried differents settings on the bios (disabling cool n quiet for example) but nothing helps. I made a clear CMOS with the hidden button on the connectors panel, problem still there, even with stock bios parameters.
Is it a bios version issue ? do i need to rollback to another version ?
I made a ticket to MSI support but response for now.
Sorry for my bad english, i'm french
EDIT: my PCB is a 3.0 one and maybe this is my cure ?

I am little confused about UEFI versions names
On this thread https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=151619.msg1197501#msg1197501 the latest UEFI is called E7640AMS.JA1 , but you recommend me to flash "BIOS 19.10B1"
    Is it the same ?
    Thanks !
Yeah it's the same. The file is named .JA1 and it's shown at BIOS as "19.10B1". The latest official BIOS is 19.9!
Your problem seems similar to mine (Core temp : 255°C at cold starts) so I think it's hardware failure (mainboard's sensor maybe)!

  • New feature needed

One thing that really annoys me in UB and there is no control over is the net logical listings in certain areas of the program.
An example is the bus settings, when you have to select the nets you want to add its listed:
    1
    10
    2
    20
    21
Any idea how annoying that its from a designers point of view? It can't be resorted or adjusted and needs to give the user control on how the nets need to be sorted. I have some designes with 10000+ connections and trying to select out of that list instead of:
    1
    2
    3
    4
    10
    11
    12
    100
    101
    102
    103
    Is just plain crazy.
Also, while not all busses in MS are busline traces in the PCB, why can't there be an option in MS to CREATE THE BUS GROUP within MS and pass that to UB? Most of the time if you building a multiplexed display or controll or address bus MPU, those lines are guaranteed to belong in a bus situation. This option would simplify the and reduce the design time.
These are important traits......whats NI position on this feature which I've been asking for since V8?
    thanks

  • PCB Board Size

How can you change the dimensions of the board itself?  I transfered a schematic from Multisim to Ultiboard and it gave me some default board outline size.  I want to change this because I can fit all my components in a much smaller board.  I tried to select the board outline as a polygon and drag it but it is unselectable.  I went into PCB properties to try and find a board dimensions characteristic and was unable to find anything.  I looked at the help file and throughout this forum and have been unsuccessful.  This seems like the most simple of tasks and is driving me crazy can you guys help?

    Hi ravivasudevan:
You can resize the board, but first you need to select the correct layer. In the Design Toolbox, select the Layers tab, then double click the Board Outline layer. The layer name should get highlighted in red. (You can also change the layer from the Draw Settings toolbar.) You can now select and drag the outline, or select and edit its properties. You can also use the usual draw tools to draw a non-rectangular shape.
