I am in recovery mode and nothing is backed up

No, i don't because I have IOS 4 (long story). I guess I will try to get Apple to try to give me some money to give my apps back.
What? Apple is not going to give you any money! If you purchased apps, they are in your purchased list and you can re-download them. What is happening here is your issue, not Apple's. They will not compensate you for not backing up your phone.

  • Iphone 4s stuck in recovery mode, and nothing works

    Hi,
I was doing a setting reset and my phone seemed to freeze on the Appple Logo.. I have checked other threads on this and have tried connecting to itunes to try and restore the device.. I have done the download process, and then statrts the extracting system info process, but I continuously get the 3014 error message.. I have read up on this, and tried the suggestions given, ie. RecBoot... which failed due to a missing QMTLClient.DLL file, I installed the missing file and re-tried, but keep getting the missing file message...
Now I can't even get my itunes to recognise my device, and can't get the phone into the recovery mode, it just circles off, on with Apple logo, and repeats everytime I try....
I have an Iphone 4s with ios 8.0.2... and an up to date version of itunes on an 8.1 windows computer...
Any suggestions will be gratefully recieved...

  • After an 'error' occurs to update iOS 6 , phone is stuck in recovery mode and only option is to restore? ):

I don't think I back uped anything. I assume it was already going to do that like most times..
I downloaded and updated the phone with the iOS6, but then an error occurred saying that the phone can't be updated. It then turned into recovery mode and suggests that the only way to use the phone is if I restore it.. which I really can't do! I still have lots of photos..
Please, I regret not having backing up just in case, but is there any way to somehow 'undo' the recovery mode and bring it back to normal (regardless of which iOS it has)? Please, I really would appreciate a solution, any solution.
    Thank you.

What's wrong with you guys.. you must ALWAYS back it up before anything major like this.
If it's not too late, and i do not know if this will work or not.. but download something like TinyUmbrella or any program that will allow you to kick it out of Recovery Mode and back to regular. May or may not work but worth a shot.

My iPhone 4 will not turn on, when I plug it into my computer and load up iTunes its in recovery mode and the only option is to restore my device to factory settings, I have no back up of my phone I've also tried the home/sleep button thing but nothing, I have literally done every method I was told, I checked for water damage and that's fine. I don't want to restore my phone or buy a new one or pay for repairs because that's wasting money when it could be a simple way to fix it. And yes, I've also tried charging it and turning it in. I really need some help with my phone

That does happen.  It depends on how hard the server is being hit, as well as the connection speed of your system.  If you are on a windows system, you will want to disable any antivirus or firewall software during the download.

See: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808 to restore the phone using Recovery Mode. You will lose all content on the phone. This is the only way to bypass the lock screen if you don't have the last computer the phone was synced to.

Well, if you've indeed tried EVERYTHING, then you'll need to bring your phone to Apple for evaluation.

  • HT1212 when i put my itouch in recovery mode and i start the last update on itune, at the middle, the ipod restart and nothing work ...

    Hi
    First sorry for my english
Last night, i got my ipod touch and i put a password on when i was watching a movie and with my badluck skill, i put a random password because i was distract Now, when i try to put the ipod in recovery mode and try to do the last patch, my ipod restart in the middle! After this, nothing work

Try disabling the computer's antivirus and firewall.
    - Next try the manual install method of:
iDevice Troubleshooting 101 :: iPhone, iPad, iPod touch
Place the iPod in recovery mode after the firmware download is complete and then restore using the instructions in the article. Sometimes recovery mode timeouts and returns to disabled before the firmware download is complete.
    - Then try on another computer

Same here. I tried to update my iPhone 5S and iPad 4 to 7.1 but iTunes wiped out them. This thing already happened for iOS 7.0.6 update. What happened to Apple? I am really curious whether Apple is aware of this problem.

  • HT4097 when i turned on my ipad it has the itunes logo on it.  It says it is in recovery mode and that i have to restore it. I dont want to lose my photos I  have stored on it. I tried the suggestions from above but nothing works. What can I do

When I turned on my ipad the itunes logo is on it. I cant get to my home screen. I plugged it to my computer and went to the itunes and it states that the ipad is in recovery mode and that I have to do a restore. I have some important photos on it that I dont want to lose. Is there a way I can restore it without losing the photos. I tried the suggestions on this site but it dont work. My last resort is to restore it if I have to.  Also, when Im on the itunes site it does say that i can update on March 15th Can anyone help? Thanks

Then you can select that backup to restore from if you want. If it is an old backup - then you will be restoring the iPad to the condition that it was on that date. You mentioned March 15 in your first post. If your only backup is from last year, then you will lose all of the photos that you have taken since then.
When you post back, include details ...not just a one sentence statement. Its difficult to ascertain exactly what you are experiencing without specific details.

I forgot my password and am trying to reset my ipod, but it won't work.It says that my ipod is in recovery mode and that I must restore it. I click ok, and then click on restore and update. Then it says connecting ipod software update server and a screen pops up with ipod software update on the top and iOS 5.1. It lists a bunch of stuff this update contains and on the bottom it says next, which I click and nothing happens, it just goes back to the ipod restore page. Help, what am I doing wrong?

This device is not eligible for the requested build (Also sometimes displayed as an "error 3194")
Update to the latest version of iTunes. Mac OS X 10.5.8 (Leopard) users may need to download iTunes 10.6.3.
Third-party security software or router security settings can also cause this issue. To resolve this, followTroubleshooting security software issues.
Downgrading to a previous version of iOS is not supported. If you have installed software to performunauthorized modifications to your iOS device, that software may have redirected connections to the update server (gs.apple.com) within the Hosts file. Uninstall the unauthorized modification software from the computer.
Edit out the "gs.apple.com" redirect from your hosts file, and then restart the computer for the host file changes to take affect. For steps to edit the Hosts file and allow iTunes to communicate with the update server, see iTunes: Troubleshooting iTunes Store on your computer, iPhone, iPad, or iPod—follow steps under the heading Blocked by configuration (Mac OS X / Windows) > Rebuild network information > The hosts file may also be blocking the iTunes Store. If you do not uninstall the unauthorized modification software prior to editing the hosts file, that software may automatically modify the hosts file again on restart.
Avoid using an older or modified .ipsw file. Try moving the current .ipsw file (see Advanced Steps > Rename, move, or delete the iOS software file (.ipsw) below for file locations), or try restoring in a new user to ensure that iTunes downloads a new .ipsw.
