I am in shock, I will die if anybody can help me out with my problem read!

Okay, please take the time to read this and help if you can, although I don't know if that is possible at this point.
I started having this problem about a year and a half ago, I had a 2 year old MAC and was using imovie HD, and about every 5 transitions I would add to my project imovie would suddenly shut down. I have spent nearly 10 hours on the phone with Apple Care trying to figure out the problem. I did EVERYTHING, even reinstalled my operating system. Finally I decided I couldn't handle it anymore, so last week I went out and brought a brand new iMac and even added 3 gigs of Ram on top of the 1 that it came with. I installed iMovie HD and just tried tonight and sure enough it is doing the same thing.
This is absolutely unbelievable. I feel like somebody is playing a joke on me. Yes, they are different projects, different user, I've deleted plists, etc. So in this case I would think that this happens to everybody when they are trying to add transitions, imovie just shuts down. But if that were the case, why would the 20 different people I've talked to from Apple care never heard of this problem.
Please, before I throw my Mac out the window and go to a PC, please somebody help me... ;(

Hi Amber - welcome to the forum!
I would hate to be responsible for your premature death - so perhaps I should make no suggestions at all?
It is NOT normal behaviour so there has to be a logical reason for it:
1. What is the source of your input video footage - unusual?
2. Any third-party plugins that may be causing this? Do you have plugins for iMovie?
3. Any unusual applications that you have carried over from your old machine?
4. Where is your iMovie project stored? On an external drive? If so is it formatted for Macs?
5. Have you repaired permissions? To do so go: Applications>Utilities>Disk Utility, then select your start-up drive and hit 'repair permissions'.
Others may have more suggestions for you.

yes the phone is already on..,autolock is set to 1 min..,what i mean is that whenever im using my iphone the backlight turns off and i got a black sceen but i can see the icons on my iphone if i put it on a bright light..,even if i press the wake up botton the backlight just lit at little and it turns off again,,,and after about 30 mins on sleep mode and press the wake up button it will function as a normal again,few minutes after backlights turns off again..thanks!

I have a big problem with an applet:
I�ve make an applet that sends files to a FTP Server with a progress bar.
Its works fine on my IDE (JBuilder 9), but when I load into Internet Explorer (signed applet) it crash. The applet seems like blocked: it show the screen of java loading and dont show the progress bar, but it send the archives to the FTP server while shows the java loading screen.
I will pay with a domain or with paypal to anyone who can help me with this problematic applet. I will give my code and the goal is only repair the applet. Only that.

harmmeijer: the applet is signed ok, I dont think that is the problem...
itchyscratchy: the server calls are made from start() method. The applet is crashed during its sending files to FTP server, when finish, the applet look ok.

(I test too with apache commons-net, and the same effect...)
The ftp is Filezilla in localhost.

My HTC Droid Eris rant, maybe you can help, maybe someone with some power will read

Alright I've got a new HTC Droid on the way, for the next 2 days I have a phone I can use the internet and check my email on, but the most basic cell phone functions I can no longer use, send/receive both calls and messages.
I'll get into the problems that lead me to do a hard reset on my phone today later, we'll start there.
So I've read about doing a hard reset and how it fixes a lot of problems. So I prepared today not knowing what would happen really. Backed up my photos and contacts and had at it. Turns out I didn't need to back those up.
So everything goes alright, it calls Verizon to activate my phone, says everything went fine. No calls or text messaging. But I've got internet and gmail. I get an error message when trying to send texts, and I get a verizon recording saying "We can't authenticate your phone."
Take it in to the Verizon store, they can't figure it out either, so they order me a new phone.
The greeter gal was the most helpful really, she asked me if I did a *228, I didn't know what it was cause the phone called to activate by itself. So later I tried that wondering if it was something different. I tried the second option activating roaming. Didn't work.
So right now as I'm typing this I got the battery out, we'll see if that works.
Alright here's my laundry list of complaints:
It's slow, even for the most basic things like making a call or text messaging. I understand it's not a very fast processor compared to other phones but for basic things it shouldn't struggle. Hell even the calculator lags.
The messaging program sucks. Well since the update I see they finally made it so it can play animated gifs. But where to begin with this, well first you can't delete messages. It locks up. Second if you don't want to delete a whole thread, you can't go through and select all the ones you want to delete, and mass delete, no you have to hold down everyone you want to delete, till the screen pops up, click delete, wait, and go to the next one.
If that wasn't time consuming enough, wait till you get a picture message with multiple attachments. No it can't play it like regular phones, this is a droid dammit! We have to be innovative and make it so you click on the attachments button, and it brings up a screen that lists all the attachments! Then when you find the one you want, you can't simply just click it to view it, no we give you another pop up that gives you options, to view, or save the attachment! I mean regular phones you could save the attachments while you're viewing them, but droid gives you options before hand, then after all the lag to load and exit the attachment, you get to start all over to look at the next one! (Handcent fixed a lot of the problems I had with the messaging but it loses multiple attachments so I end up going back to regular messaging to look at them)
Gmail on your phone! Only thing that sucks about this is google saves every person you have correspondence with through gmail as a friggin contact. At least I can delete them off my phone, time consuming and annoying, I still haven't figured out how to delete them off actual gmail.
Facebook! Hey if google contacts wasn't bad enough, in this connected day and age, when you type in a name to call or send a text message to, it searches facebook friends too! And its really fun when your friends have old numbers listed on their facebook account and you call it and it's some 80 year old guy named herbert who says he'll dress in pig tails and be Jessica if I want.
I use Gmail, I use Facebook, but I do not need these to be a part of my contacts for my calling and texting in any way!
The silent phone issues. Mine has gotten worse lately.
The one thing I didn't mind, the browser, well attention is in the details, and they made one thing super annoying now. I liked browsing craigslist on my phone, most browsers for computers, you click the back button, it returns you to the point in the page you were at, oh no, not droid, it takes you to some point in the page it feels like going back to when you click back. Which is annoying when you're zoomed in trying to go down a list. Either fix this or make it so you can just open links in new tabs.
I've been searching online for solutions to these problems if you got any please fill me in. And before I send this, I put the battery back in, booted it up, still not able to make calls or send messages.

Firstly, your device authentication issue has absolutely nothing to do with your device. Even a Knack can get that error. In a nutshell, your device authenitication needs to be updated and a quick call to tech support can fix that. It takes 35 seconds to resolve that issue once you get through.
Second, need some tissues? The Eris is an entry level phone. Don't like the included messaging app? Download Handcent. Or Chomp. You are really being overly whiney and will probably not be happy with another Droid device either. All devices need some set up, optimization, and guess what, basic user knowledge. Sounds like you never even bothered to crack the manual or seek out help.
And yes, I do own an Eris.

Your task is hardly a case for Photoshop: replacing text accurately in a scanned, not even
straightened image.
My recommendations:
a) put a crossreference list on each page
   or
b) straighten the scans and improve the contrast, both by Photoshop.
   Then apply a program which converts images of text into machine coded text
   by OCR - Optical Character Recognition , for instance Abbyy Finereader

   (I'm not related to the manufacturer of this software, I'm just a user).
   In coded text it's easy to replace isolated character groups as required.

As stated above - I am having a really big problem with the iTunes 10.6 installer.
First tells me 2 DLL files are missing and then that a program needed for the install isn't there.
I never had a problem withiTunes last year when I had an iPad.
I deleted the iTunes from then because I found the iPad to heavy - I have very severe arthritis
in my wrists. I might as well send my iPhone back to the retailer I got it from if this issue can't be solved.
I'm using Windows XP Pro with SP3 so it should work.
Please can someone help?

Perhaps Bob will see this thread, he is the professor in these cases.
You do not use a WEP password but wpa/wpa2 on router and equipment.
All equipment connects to WiFi, but for your iPad.
Even with all other equipment WiFi off, you cannot connect your iPad.
Your iPad connects to other WiFi nets correctly.
All resets etc done on iPad and Router.
Still I am not sure it is your router for sure, frustrating...
I want to test 2 other things:
1. in your iPad, set everything OFF in Settings/Cellular, turn off/then/on your WiFi, and see whether it will still not connect...
2. If that does not do it: disconnect the router as well as the modem from the power, for 15 seconds, then reconnect the modem, let it fully start, then reconnect the routet let it fully start, turn of your WiFi in iPad, then on, and see whether it will connect.

Have you tried the line inputs on the back of your FirePod? If you update its firmware (not sure if you will need to or not), I seem to remember hearing that the FirePod can run without FW connection, i.e. stand alone. In this mode with the outs from your mixer into line ins 1-2 (2nd from left on the back) it should work fine. I say should because I have never tried. However, these are used for returns from an external effects unit. I assume here, and the important word is assume, that there are two so that they can be used as a stereo send or as a mono send. Worth a try! Let us know how it goes.

The only way to locate any lost iPhone is through Apple's Find My Phone. However, Find My Phone must be turned on/activated, & your phone must have Internet access. If someone finds your phone, and your phone was passcode protected, all the person has to do is force the phone into recovery mode & restore it as a new device. Doing this will prevent your phone from being located. If you report the loss to your carrier, and your carrier offers blacklisting, the phone will not be able to be activated, for use, on that carrier's network. If your carrier does not offer blacklisting, your phone will be able to be activated for use.

Mac will not start up! Help!!?

Hi guys and gals - Before I reinstall my system software and lose my itunes and iphoto files I was wondering if anybody can help or has experienced the same problem as me.
Here is what happened;
I was about to import some pics from my camera when it froze. I could not do an escape so I did a reboot. But my desktop never appeared - I just got the grey screen with the spinning cog. Tries rebooting severla times to no avail.
I got the trouble shooting section of the maniual out and tried the following several times;
option;command'p;r;
and safe reboot
and option reboot.
After several hours of this I tried doing a basic install of the system software from the discs - but found errors at the end and so could not finish (tried this 3 times). My desktop did appear once but when I clicked on anything it froze up again.
I phoned Apple but they wanted £35 from me before they would give advice - even though this is under warranty (5 months old). I phoned John Lewis were I bought it from and they said bring it in and they will send it to Apple (but they said the hard drive will probably have to be wiped)- but I could probably do this myself anyway.
I was hoping somebody may have some ideas - or should I just bite the bullet and back my work up more regularly in future.
I am getting frustrated with Apple as well - I have worked with them for years now but the last one I bought was an e-mac which broke down this year 2 months out of warranty (it had a fault called a raster shift caused by poor insulation on some internal cable - it is such a common fault that there is a yahoo group on the internet that is dedicated to it!)
Anyway enough moaning. Feedback would be appreciated.

Safari shouldn't give you system hangs. It sounds more like a hardware or system problem with your connection. I'd still suggest booting from the system disks (with ethernet unplugged) and running Disk Utility to repair you HD and, Repair Permissioons while you're at it. It's a good rule of thumb when troubleshooting system problems to boot with no attachments (ethernet, external drives, etc). Also, if your going to use an alternative browser, I highly recommend Firefox 1.5. IE for Mac hasn't been updated for 3 yrs or so and MS just announced they are officially phasing it out.
