I am installing an SSD in the Optical Dirve of my MacBook Pro 2012 and was wondering how to change the start up disk to the new SSD instead of the HDD and when i do it will it install Yosemite on the SSD?
Im planning on taking out the optical drive on my mid 2012 Macbook Pro and putting in an SSD instead so i can boot OS X and my applications from it. Im just wondering how do i get it to boot the OS from the new drive, also will it install Yosemite on the SSD and will any of my data on the HDD be deleted?

If the ringtones are on the old device just plug it in and do a transfer of purchases then they will be on the computer to sync to the new device.

When I got my new iPhone and was trying to switch everything over I accidentally set up a new icloud account with one email and had one on my old iphone with another account. Does anyone know how I can merge the two accounts?
You cannot merge Apple IDs but you can go to Settings > iCloud and 'Delete Account'. When prompted to turn off documents and data, choose the only option which is Delete from my iPhone, but on the other prompt for Contacts, Calendars, etc you can choose 'Keep on my iPhone' Then once the Account is Deleted form the iPhone, log back in with the correct Apple ID and choose Merge when prompted. This will merge your data from this iPhone with that iCloud account effectively putting your devices on the same account.

Recently Got a Mac Book and was wondering if there is any software that Apple recommends to import my music/pics/video from my Iphone onto my computer. I no longer have the previous computer and if I sync my Iphone I'll lose everything.

You should be able to:
Backup the device to the new windows installation
Transfer your purchases into a newly authorized library
Recover any other media using third party tools as suggested in this post from forum regular Zevoneer
Restore the device from the backup
This process should switch the association of the device to the new library, preserving the data and settings in your apps.
May also be prudent to attempt a backup to iCloud directly from the device before you start... Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup > iCloud Backup > On. It won't save any media but it would preserve the general account settings and documents in case anything goes wrong while you are trying to extract your other data.
When you get it all fixed, make a backup! (Windows tip). For a Mac use Time Machine or Carbon Copy Cloner.

Sorry, iPhones exposed to Salt Water, are pretty much destroyed. Salt Water is one of the most corrosive elements there is.

Where did the certificate originate? An Apple iPhone certificate? For what? For iOS development? For VPN? For accessing remote web services, on a server? This is the OS X Server 10.6 forum; are you working with certificates with that operating system, or with certificates on an iPhone?
If your OS X Server system has an expired certificate, you'll need to either purchase a new certificate, or generate a new self-signed certificate and load that via the Certificate Assistant and Server Admin tools. -

I have Macbook pro A1286 and was wondering how to connect it to the tv and have audio?
Like the title says, I have a 15 inch macbook pro A1286 (from mid 2009) and want to hook it up to a tv. I also know that my particular model of macbook pro doesn't support audio from the mini display. I know that I will need a mini display to hdmi cable or converter and a hdmi cable if I decide to go for the converter for the video. I've seen both the cord (1 side is hdmi and the other is mini display just to clarify if I'm not using the right terminology) and converter online and any comments on which is better/preferred would be helpful. What kind of cable do I need to get sound to play through the tv? If you could suggest brands (unless all of them are about the same), I would be very grateful. It would be nice to know if the cords have to be specifically from apple just so I don't buy the wrong thing. If there's an easier way (less cords) to do this than hdmi feel free to say something Thanks for the help, I really appreciate it and am eternally grateful.

How can i Contact apple to find my iPod touch?
- If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone. If the iPod has been restored it will never show up.
- You can also wipe/erase the iPod and have the iPod play a sound via iCloud.
- If not shown, then you will have to use the old fashioned way, like if you lost a wallet or purse.

On my 17" MacBook Pro I use the eSata port for Black X Duet Hard Drive Docking station where I put 2 1TB Hitachi internal drives. They are swappable and are about $80.00US. I use the USB port for my system backup and a G-force 500 MB bus powered portable drive on the FW800 port just for the heck of it. It works out really well for me.

How to get to kernel on a MacBook pro with booting issues. Internet restore has not bee successful. It will not boot from 10.5 install disc cause I recently upgraded to lastest ox.
Any help is appreciated.Not using any mouse pad, I have a very smooth desktop. But I just tried to use a sheet of A4 printing paper, but no result, the problem persisted.
Someone on this forum suggested, that USB3 may interfere with the magic mouse.
I have 2 LaCie HDD's about 70 cm away from the mouse, I use them on Thunderbolt. But in operation or not - the result is the same, the mouse plays up! Just now I was clicking the desktop and the mouse created a new folder!!

When typing a ? I get É and am wondering how to change it.?
My poor sister has her Powerbook G4 and has no ? button. Every time she types it in she get the Capital E with the accent mark over it. Re-starting the computer doesnt fix it either. I know how to toggle it back and forth on Windows (having just learned tonight) but I am not sure if it would be the same for Mac. And I dont have her computer here to test it myself and she is away.
Windows if you hold down CTRL and SHIFT it will switch it back and forth.
I guess it has to do with US/EN and french keyboard settings. If the toggle doesnt work can someone tell me where to find the keyboard settings to make sure it is on US/EN?

Okay so my Macbook Air has always allowed me to receive iMessages from my iPhone 5 to my computer. So basically I could use both to text.. However I just upgraded to the iPhone 6 Plus and I would like the same to happen again with my new phone, but I don't know how. If you are signed onto the same iCloud/Apple ID for Messages, then the second number should have been registered with your Messages on the Mac at the time it was verified.
To check this, open Messages on the Mac, click on Accounts, and see if the number is displaying and checked. If it is not, Sign out of Messages on your new device and then sign on again.
Again, phones need to be signed onto the same Messages account that you have set up in Messages.
