I am looking for an old installer for photoshop CS2

I installed photoshop CS@, but everytime I try to use it I get this error, "An error is detected and activiation cannot continue.  Please restart your computer and reinstall applications."

Old CS2 Activation servers have been taken down by Adobe they provided a new download that registered users can download and install. You need to download that installer if you have a licence for CS2. CS2 is not Free. https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/entitlement/index.cfm?e=cs2_downloads

I am looking for a free downloaod for photoshop cs2.  can anyone help me?  I had downloaded it previously and then I had my computer cleaned up and it was taken off.  Now, when I go to open it, it wants the license number.  Where can I find that as I know that I had downloaded it before.  The one website that has it for free must have a virus in it and my AVG will not allow it to download.  I am lost and need it really fast!  Please help me!

If you were a legitimate CS2 licensee, you'll find the link to the CS2 replacement download and new s/n in the above thread, despite its subject title.
This may explain it to you in a more convincing way:

• How to renew my license for Photoshop cs2?

I bought a Photoshop cs2 disk years ago and used to work with it without any problem.  However, now the dialog appears saying that I should apply for a new admission to use the license, and , moreover, that I may use a telephone channel.  Here, I finally got to a web site for a chat with you.  Could you help me how to activate my present license?

Dear Trevor and John,
Thank you for your kind advice. I have realized that cs2 is no longer
supported.
Since my old iBook G10 is also going to be out of date, I will replace it
for a more recent type with appropriate new soft wares. Thank you again for
you assistance.

• I have an old version of Photoshop CS2 which I purchased in discs and want to install on my new computer but don't have the  discs can I copy it from my old laptop?

Is there anyway to install my old version of Photoshop CS2 onto my new mac without the discs?

Adobe took down their old Activation servers so you can not activate installing CS2 from your CD.  Adobe made available a new download of CS2 that uses their new Activation servers for activation their old CS2 customers can download and install.

• Wine Project looking for Photoshop CS users who want Linux support

If you're not a Linux user, or if you don't like the idea of
running Photoshop for Windows on Linux, you can stop reading now,
this message probably won't be interesting to you.
The Wine project is looking for hardcore Photoshop CS or 7
users who use Photoshop professionally, all day, every day,
and who are willing to tell us why they can't do that in Linux
using Wine yet.
We know everybody would like Photoshop CS3 or at least
CS2 support, but support for CS2 and CS3 isn't quite
ready, so we'd like to focus on our strengths, and support
Photoshop 7 and CS excellently. Don't worry, we're also
working on the CS2 and CS3 issues. Getting all the 7 and CS
issues taken care of builds a stronger foundation for CS2 and CS3.
If something doesn't work in Photoshop 7 or CS itself,
or your favorite plugin works in Windows with 7 or CS
but not in Wine, please let us know how to reproduce
the problem. To do that, just reply to this post,
or post in the wine-users mailing list,
or leave a comment in the wine appdb for Photoshop 7 or CS,
or file a bug in the Wine Bugzilla,
whichever you're more comfortable with.
We'll take it from there; if we can reproduce it, we'll
file a bug and see if we can get a wine developer to fix it.
Ideally you'd test with the latest release of Wine
(currently 0.9.51), but if you're still on a slightly older
version, don't sweat it, we'll retest on the latest for you.
Thanks!

At the risk of repeating myself: I'm serious. I really want bug
reports from professional Photoshop users. Leave them here,
send them to the wine-users mailing list (see http://winehq.org),
or file one in our bug tracking system (http://bugs.winehq.org),
any of the three ways is fine.

• I'm the author of libpsd, and I'm looking for Photoshop CS3 specs.

Libpsd is the Photoshop file format decode library in C language with full source code. My name is Patrick. I spent half a year to implement libpsd. I finished most of the features under Photoshop CS specs. So, I'm looking for the up-to-date specs. Who can give it to me? My email is [email protected] Thanks.

In my view it would be wise to remove it from your site. This would be
true for any material for which no specific permission is granted to
redistribute. Copyright is automatic, and applies equally whether
things are paid for or free, unless specifically given away.

• PS Express Looks for Photoshop CC?

There are some very interesting predefined "looks" that come with the PS Express app for iOS and Android...I was just wondering if these "looks" are available anywhere as Actions or some kind of script for Photoshop on the desktop?

Welcome to the forum.
As Photoshop Express is a Web-based editing application, I would anticipate (I have not used it, but only read of it) that there WILL be differences. As Ps Express is designed for the very casual user, I would guess that some of its capabilities are more related to the consumer program, Photoshop Elements.
However, others, much more familiar with Ps Express, can probably give you something more than guesses and assumptions.
Good luck,

• Missing serial number for Photoshop CS2 to complete installation.

I just downloaded a free copy of Photoshop CS2 and I now need the serial number to be able to complete the installation. Where can I find it?

I am sorry Louis Roberts but I am not aware of any free versions of Photoshop CS2 being available.  Please see http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1195856 which discusses the activation server shut down which affected the Creative Suite 2 software.

• Using iBook 12" for PhotoShop CS2? Durability compared to PowerBook?

I'm thinking about getting a new Mac. I would really like an iMac 20", but that may be too much to spend right now.
I'm thinking an iBook would give me portability, as well as being able to connect to a monitor and keyboard while at home. I suppose it is like a Mac Mini, but with a built in monitor and keyboard.
My questions are:
1. How well will the 12" iBook run PhotoShop CS2, with 1.5GB of RAM? (Is the PowerBook 15" much faster?)
2. Is the iBook more durable than the PowerBooks? I prefer the look of the PowerBook, since the iBook looks like a student laptop, but if it's more durable, I guess I can live with that.
3. Is the 4500 RPM hard drive a big drawback compared to the 5400 RPM drives in the PowerBooks?
I will mainly be using Adobe CS2, Macromedia Dreamweaver and Microsoft Office.
Thanks for any help,
Steve

Hi Steve,
I have a 12" iBook G4 with 1.5gb of ram and I run the adobe creative suite just fine. The ram is definately going to help you in terms of running multiple CS applications at once.
As far as the hard drive is concerned...of course a 4200rpm drive is going to be slower than a 5400. But I dont consider it to be too much of a drawback. Most of my work in CS is done with an external firewire drive spinning at 7200 anyway.
As far as durability goes, i cannot comment on a powerbook as I have never owned one. I keep my iBook in an incase iBook sleve, its with me all the time and so far has been well protected. However, Powerbook or iBook...if you drop it..its going to get damaged in some way.
Good luck with your decision.

• Buying a 2,5" external FW400 drive only for Photoshop CS2 as Scratchdisc?

i am a retouching professional
and use a pb 15" and a ACD20".
do you think it makes sense to buy a
2,5" external FW400 drive only for Photoshop as Scratchdisc?
2,5" therefore, as it needs no powersupply
by wire. that elegant i guess,
my images have 1,5GB on the disc, and use often 4GB RAM in Photoshop CS2 but i only have 2GB RAM in my pb 15" 1,67 from late 2005.
its very slow sometimes as Photoshop (PS) scratches onto my external drives which are all nearly full of stuff and heavyly fragmented.
so , i had that idea of buying a drive only for PS, which is always "empty" and PS can use it for scratching large data onto the disc. i would format it everyday in order to prevent fragmenting (?) and be able to work fast,
thats my goal, just to work faster. its really slow sometimes as i suffer from too less RAM. of course i am buying a G5 quad later with plenty of RAM but for now i have to work with my pb .... and need a better working solution
anyone thinks it makes sense?
if yes, how big should the disc be, 20GB , 40Gb, or more?
if the file in PS has 4 GB RAM, and has 30 layers or more, how can i find out how many GB space it needs on the scratch disc?
i would like to buy this one:

Cutie EX

if 40GB would be enough i could save more money, but if you say i need 80, its also ok. which model/brand of disc would you put in? i am looking for a quiet one, 7200rpm and at least 40 or better 80GB. but quiet would be important.

thanks for your help.
i had another idea now: i copied my stuff from my internal pb to my external FW 400 disc. now i have 40GB free space in my internal.
- is this enough for photoshop scratch disc?
- should i also define the other 3 discs (external) as Photoshop scratch disc (possible in the prefercenes of Photoshop, up to 4 discs can be used as scratch discs)
- what about the system scratch disc, do both interfere themselves or bother?
- better also copy the image i work with in Photoshop to the internal powerbook drive which has only 5400 rpm or better leave it where it is now on the external FW400 drive 7200rpm?
thanks

• 12" PowerBook or MacBook for Photoshop CS2?

I am in the market for a portable computer as I'll be traveling. I am mainly just an avid amateur photographer and enjoy making video presentations to share with family.
My desktop is an iMac G5 which I am very satisfied with.
I had a 15" PowerBook which I gave away to my daughter.
Now I miss it and want a notebook to carry with me so I can edit and play on long airplane rides.
So, I have read that Photoshop CS2 doesn't play well with Intel Chips.
If I have no desire to upgrade any software as I am so happy with using what I have today, doesn't it stand to reason that I just get another portable Power PC that will play well with my current software?
Now the ? is should I get a 12" PowerBook or an iBook? The specs are so similar in the refurb department. I want to snag one quick before they're gone.
I need input from more knowledgeable users before I order.
Thanks!

I would get the MacBook. At this point I wouldn't buy anything PowerPC. You'll probably regret it. Eventually you may want to upgrade and Photoshop as a UB will blow away the PowerPC performance. If you get enough RAM, say 2 GB, Rosetta will be just fine.
