I am looking for Microsoft office for my new macbook pro

I am looking for Microsoft Office for my new Macbook Pro.

MS isn't selling a version through the MAS. There are rumors that they are developing a version for next year.

  • Where can I download a single license for Microsoft Office for Mac?

Where can I download a single license for Microsoft Office for Mac?  On microsoft.org you have to buy 3 licenses for $150.  I just want to download the home and student suite for my own computer.  Thanks.

eBay also sell those license, or u can purchase them straight off microsoft after installing micrsoft office. But there are free MS Office alternative like Libreoffice mentioned.
But my favourite one is OpenOffice... it supports 64 bits and its open source which means there are free upgrades and extensions availble to download for specific need.

  • Is it worth paying for Microsoft office for Mac for college, or is buying iwork a better deal?

I'll be going off to college in a year or so, and im wondering if it is worth the 120 dollars for microsoft office, or is it better just to get iwork for mac right away?

Wait until you are enrolled after which you may get it free or at low cost from your school.
Don't bother with iWork. Schools are pretty standardized on Office. You could also download one the Office-like suites:
    LibreOffice
    Open Office
    Neo Office
Look for them at MacUpdate or CNET Downloads

How can I transfer microsoft office from my old MacBook Air to my new one?

All your data will be transferred if you use Setup Assistant, which starts automatically the first time you boot the new machine. You may need to contact Microsoft to reactivate the product.

  • Cannot install office 2008 on new Macbook pro.

I have just received my new macbook pro 17 inch. I"ve installed the bundled apps cd, but when I try to install Mac Office 2008, I receive the following error:
Microsoft office for Mac can't be installed on this disk. newer-version-installed message.
I'm running Snow leopard 10.6.4 and have only installed firefox and AIM besides the software that came with the mac.
I've searched the Mac and cannot find any reference to Microsoft or office 2008. I've also gone through the "Remove office 2008 manually" from the Microsoft website and again have not found any files or folders they referred to.
Does anyone know what else I can do to solve this issue?

    Hi baltwo,
However, running Remove Office might do the trick.
I mentioned it anyway because I've seen posts in the past here where the same thing happened. The OP had manually deleted everything they could find, but still couldn't install without either running the Remove Office tool, or going the Draconian route and formatting the drive, reinstalling everything from scratch.
I think that happens if you've opened any Office trial app. It must put a hidden file on the drive somewhere that tracks your 30 day usage from there. If it does exist, then using the Remove Office tool is the only way to get it off the hard drive so you can install the full version.

  • Microsoft Product Registration on new MacBook Pro

    Greetings,
I recently recieved a new MacBook Pro, over the weekend I had Apple do the data transfer to get all my apps and files transfered onto my new Macbook. However, I'm confused when it comes to Microsoft Office. I have the app on my new MacBook, but it hasn't asked me for my Product Key number. Did all of that information get transfered over to the new Macbook as well?
I noticed the same thing when it came to my CS5 Photoshop program as well, but just as an added precaution, I still un-registered Photoshop from my old Macbook.

Some applications keep their information, so the apps are registered after migrating from the old MacBook

  • Do I have to register again for Microsoft Office for another user on my computer to use it?

I have a version of Microsoft Office the is registered for 3 computers.  My wife is trying to use Microsoft Office under her user account but it asking for registration.  So my question is...Is my Office version for 3 separate computers or 3 users?
    Thanks

Different operating systems. Your iMac runs OS X and the iWork
applications you have on your iMac are written for OS X. On your
iDevice, the operating system is iOS and you would need a version
of the apps written for that. If you are not planninig to use the apps
on your iDevice (iPhone, iPad, some iPods), you do not need to
buy them. Having the apps on your iDevices provides instant
syncing of documents across the iDevices using iCloud. iCloud
does not provide Google App-like operation if that is what you are
seeking. If this does not answer your question, perhaps someone
    else will chime in.

  • How do I get Microsoft Office unto my new MacBook Air?

I recently purchased a new MacBook Air to be able to complete my online courses, and soon after I noticed that I don't have Microsoft Office pre-installed. Is that standard that Mac computers don't have Microsoft Office already installed? How can I get MS without having to pay an exuberant amount for a new license?

yes it is normal, mac computers don't come with MS office on them
unfortunately the only (legal) way of acquiring microsoft office is to buy a license - as a student you might be entitled to discounts depending on your country (in the UK we have http://www.software4students.co.uk)
there are alternatives - Pages/Numbers/Keynote are the Apple equivalent of Word, ExCel and PowerPoint respectively. office documents can be opened using these apps too. i hear complaints from people who need certain features only available in MS office but for the average user the Apple versions are brilliant
then there's the free openoffice, etc, if you were looking for something along those lines

  • Microsoft office 2008 on new macbook air

I am trying to install my old microsoft office 2008: home and student on my new macbook air with os x mavericks. Microsofts home page is telling me that this is an unsupported product. Can i still install it or do i actually have to buy a new office-package? I can't afford this and would like to use one of the two remaining users on my old office-package, since i hav only used one. Can someone help me with this?

Good question, all I can find online are updates, not full versions. Assuming that it is no longer available for download (it is 6 years old now) you will have to buy an external drive and use it to install from your discs.
    Edit:
Found a download on CNET, download it, then very carefully install it, CNET has a bad habit of 'adding' things to downloads so read what the installer dialog boxes say.
    The download is here
Here is a better source to download from, Microsoft Office 2008. version 12.3.3

  • How can I transfer Microsoft office from my old macbook pro to macbook air

how can I transfer microsoft office from macbook pro to macbook air?

Assuming you have the 2011 version the easiest way is go to Microsoft's Web site and download Mac Office 2011 onto your MacBook Air and then run it. If you have the 2008 (or the 2011) version on disc you can turn on DVD sharing in the Sharing control panel of your MBP and install it by remotely sharing your MBP's DVD.
Since Microsoft uses activation when you start Office on the new computer if you use the same activation code as you used on the MBP you'll probably get a message to call Microsoft. Do so and just explain that you got a new computer.

  • How do I download microsoft office 2011 on a macbook pro without the cd?

I have bought a microsoft office 2011 program. I wonder how I can download this on my comupter without using the cd?

Get a external cd drive or return the cd to the store and download it instead.
If you don't exactly need to use Office, there is a great donationware/free alternative that is compatible and totally cross platfrom (Linux, Windows and OS X) so your files are never locked up.
    See LibreOffice here

  • Transferring MS office to a new macbook pro.

I am trying to transfer MS office 2010 from an old macbook pro to a new one.  on starting the apps it asks for a product key. when i enter the key from the original office 2004 disks,  it does not work.  Any ideas on how to get the apps to work.

Doesn't sound plausible - from 2004 to 2008 to 2011, all were 'paid' updates. There was no Office 2010 for Macs, only 2011 (which is the latest available at present).
You will need to either buy or 'rent' Office 2011 (by 'renting' I mean using Office 365 which allows you, for $99 per year, the ability to download and use Office on up to 5 devices at one time).
    Good luck,
    Clinton

  • Final Cut Studio 2. Should I wait for 3? And which new Macbook Pro

    Hi,
I'm in need of some advice. I have used Final Cut pro since it's early days having owned 1,3 and 4.5HD. I also used Motion 1 a fair bit. My video editing worked declined in the last 3 years so I didn't upgrade my software and computer as it wasn't necessary. BUT things are getting busy for me again and I have quite a few projects to complete in the next year and motion 1 and FCP 4.5HD just don't make the grade anymore (actually I love 4.5 but motion 1 was always buggy). the 17 isn't out of my budget but in terms of convenience I don't want to go that route again (I now have a 17inch PB from 2004). My questions...
    1. Should I wait for FCS 3? I heard it will be released this OCT. I don't want to have to pay 700bucks foor an upgrade to FCS3 only a few months after I get 2. Is 2 plenty good enough?
    2. Should I get the 15inch 2.66 with dedicated 9600/256mb or 2.8 with dedicated 9600/512 graphics card? I'm thinking the 2.8.
apart from this point there isn't much difference between the 2 computers (along with L2 cache)

    1) There is no set release date for FCS 3 (sad but true) in fact there is no "official" information anywhere that confirms FCS3's existence ... whatever you've heard or read is pure speculation and basing purchasing decisions on such might be a tad risky. My advice would be that if you need FCS2's functionality right now then buy it now, especially if you are working commercially (ie you're going to get paid for this) ... but if you don't need it yet then common sense would be to bide your time.
    2) Despite your reservations, get the 17" MBP. There are no current 15" MBP's that are a good long term purchase suitable for professional editing work. How long do you expect to use this purchase? 1 or 2, maybe 3 years? or 5 years? Sooner or later you will want or need to connect a bigger, better, faster storage system to your laptop in order to keep up with your editing needs, especially as we hurtle towards affordable Digital Cinema solutions for consumers and pro's alike. NONE of the current 15" laptop lineup for Apple offers ANY suitable form of expansion facility. Sadly they have dropped their "Pro" appeal, at least with respect to Pro video editing needs.
