I am looking for the cheapest way to sample simultaneously 4 or more channels at 2Ms/s (ore more).
it's very important for my application both sample simultaneously and rapidly (more than 2 MHz).
I know that I can use a digital oscilloscope but it's limitate to 2 channels and to much expensive.
I'am looking for a smart and cheapest way to perform my application, if it's possible.

Your best solution is to use a PCI-6110 simultaneous sampling board which can sample each channel at a rate up to 5 MS/s.
If you are using the PXI platform, you can use the PXI-6115 which can sample each channel up to 10 MS/s simultaneously.
Both of these boards can be found in the National Instruments catalog available online at www.ni.com

I need only the encryption method..There are several ways: You do a secure hash of the password and store that. Then, when you want to verify the password, you do the same hash of the proposed password and if they match, you call it macaroni. Alternately, you can encrypt the password using DES or some other private key encryption technique. The technique for authentication is the same: encrypt the proposed password and if the cipertext matches that stored in your DB, the user is authenticated.
You can do an SHA-1 hash or DES encryption using the JCE.

Looking for the best way to upgrade OS
Ok I have just reinstalled the old OS X 10.3.9 onto my 14" ibook g4 1.33 and I have 768gb of Ram with a 60 gb hdd. I was running OS X 10.5.8 the reason that I did this was I bought the laptop at a pawn shop and everything on it had the other person user name to it. I wanted this to be mine so I re did the whole thing. Now I need to know which way to upgrade the OS should i get 10.4(tiger) first then go to 10.5, or would be going straight into 10.5 be a better route. I am wondering this because I am new to this platform, and I do not want to do things the wrong way. If you guys and gals have any Ideas on which is the best course of action to take it would be huge welcome.
Thanks again Benywhat is it specifically you wish to do? Right now, the widest support is going to be for 10.4 & 10.5. The 10.4 disc are so hard to come by & copies of leopard are drying up fast.
Now, not to lower expectations, but with your iBook, but most online video streaming is going to have studder & you won't be able to play HD content. iMovie 09 won't install without a hack.
With that said, your iBook should work fine with iPhoto, DVD playback & files which are non HD - h.264 codec based, Firefox, lots of printers & scanners, media & file sharing over a local network, wireless connections (with good routers like linksys or the aiport bases).
when I take a machine & install fresh, my core list of apps include firefox, camino (mozilla based browser, runs lighter than ff or safari), VLC, perian, flip4mac, Cyberduck ftp, and some office suite (iWork - Neo Office - MS Office).

If your ODS is set to be overwritten AND the newly appended IOs are not key fields then a full upload without data deletion will works. Because old entries will be overwritten by new ones which have values for the appended IOs.
On the other hand, if your ODS additive then from my point of view you need to remove all data and then reload again. Or else key figures would be doubled after a full upload.

Grub-hell, looking for the right way.

due to a problem with my hard disk (4 partitions and over 100Gig free space -> repartitioning needed to be able to use it) I wanted to get grub loaded from another partition, being the one arch resides on. So I used grub-install and I went through hell... Error 15, error 17, ... I used knoppix to restore everything and now I'm able to boot again.
But I kind of lost my confidence in my grub knowledge and wanted to know what the best way is to install grub. I've tried grub-install and the regular grub prompt root and setup approach but it just didn't work... It may have to do with the funky device names from the new pata driver...
Does those names influence the interpretation of devices.map or the "root=" flag in the kernel line?insulae wrote:

And can't you do the same when you are already in arch? I am able to boot now but I just want to install the boot loader to another partition (being sda), so last time I just ran grub-install sda and made a menu.lst based on the previous one and the info in devices.map but everything went wrong and I needed to revert to the old situation...
It seems a little awkward to go download a live cd just to install grub, doesn't it? -
Ive seen the presonus faderport but there looks to be lots of problems? is this still the case or has it been fixed?

cheers.xIf I could make a suggestion. I too have the Axiom49 and love it. I would not get rid of it. But for control of Logic, I use the Presonus FaderPort. It works flawlessly. Plug it into a USB port, add the Mackie HUI controller in the preferences, set the input and output (of that control surface) to the FaderPort, and your done. Motorized fader, limitless pan knob, etc. You may want to look into this little gem. It will be less expensive than a new MIDI controller, that's for sure.

Looking for the best way to consolidate iPhoto Libraries
I have a number of iPhoto libraries. I'd like to consolidate them into one library then eliminate the duplicates. Suggestions on how best to proceed would be much appreciated.
If you have the latest versoins of iPhoto and Aperture you can do it with Aperture.
Otherwise you'll need to paid version of iPhoto Library Manager. With it one can merge multiple libraries into a new library or one of the existing libraries. I'd create a new library to merge into. After the merge into the new library is dome and checked for completeness and to make sure it operates as expected the other, individual libraries can be deleted.

There are companies that specialize in data retrieval but it's costly (probably cheaper to buy a new iPod) and more than likely as Allan said, your circuits are probably damaged beyond all hope of retrieving anything. It's worth calling Apple you maybe able to get a discount or a refurbished iPod. Can't hurt to ask, Good luck. (And in the future... no texting in the john.) Sorry, couldn't resist it.

Trying to get my sister set up with wifi. She is getting an ipad mini for Christmas and has internet, but no wifi. Is there any restriction on the Airport version that this ipad mini will/won't work with?
I have found many 'used' Airport Express units on Amazon, but just need to make sure that these older models will work with this new ipad mini for her.I don't use Facetime, but if it is available on the Internet, she will be able to access it by entering the Web address for the site in the browser of the iPad.
I just need something inexpensive since we are having to 'add that' for her.

Problem with my program looking for the settings file in the wrong folder
I have been writing a simple FTP file uploader, what I want to do is be able to select the files I want to upload in windows explorer and then right click and click the menu item and it launches the program and passes the files paths that I have selected to it.
So I use this in the windows registry "C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.6.0_03\bin\java.exe -jar D:\BenFTP\BenFTP.jar %1"
It launches fine and has no problem finding the files I want to upload. The problem is that it tries to look for the settings file in the same folder that the file I am try to upload is in. Which it's not suppose to do since the settings file is in the same folder that the .jar is in.

There's no way to set the CWD in your registry entry (is there?) so that isn't a practical thing to do. Presumably you're using a File object or a FileReader or something? Can't do that.
One alternative is to look for the settings file in the classpath. You can get a URL to a file in the classpath like this:URL settings = this.getClass().getResource("/settings.xml");Or you can get an InputStream to read the file by using the getResourceAsStream method. You would have to make sure that your executable jar file contained a Class-Path entry that specified the right directory, because the directory the jar is contained in isn't automatically in an executable jar's classpath.
Another alternative is to ask the user where the settings file is supposed to be, and put an entry in the Preferences (java.util.prefs) to remember that location. -

Can I force the bootcamp wizard to skip looking for the bootcamp drivers? I have already downloaded the latest drivers and loaded them on a FAT usb drive. All I want is for bootcamp to create the partition and allow me to install windows 8 pro.
The bootcamp drivers have been downloaded from apple's website. Filename: BootCamp5.0.5033
I have a iMac 27" late 2013 model.
NOTE: I have downloaded the drivers manually from apples support site as the bootcamp wizard fails third of the way through the download.

asdutoitThere is a missing point in this thread, and it is that the Boot Camp drivers for the Late 2013 iMac can only be downloaded from Boot Camp Assistant. The Boot Camp drivers available in the Apple site are not compatible with that iMac.
Delete the Boot Camp drivers from the USB drive, open Boot Camp Assistant and try to download the Boot Camp drivers again. If you get a message telling you that they could not be downloaded, I would try reinstalling OS X through OS X Recovery, by holding down Command and R keys while your Mac is starting up -
How can I use pdf pack to convert cubase documents (music scores) into pdfs? I am looking for the former possibility to install acrobat like a printer but i don't have this option with "pdf pack". Can you help?

What format are those music scores (I'm not familiar with cubase documents). But, it may be that Adobe PDF Pack doesn't support that format. In that case, Acrobat is the way to go. You can then print your files to PDF as you'd like. You're welcome to try Acrobat for free for 30 days to see whether it's going to work for you. If you decide it is, and you'd like to use it going forward, you could convert your PDF Pack subscription into an Acrobat subscription.
