I am looking to buy this Nike+ thing but first a few questions

I dont want to spend alot of money on Nike+ shoes so wiill it be ok if I just tie it around the top of my shoe?
I hear the iPod touch does not need a receiver, How does it get the info from the sensor and do you need a app and if so where?
Thanks guys

3rd gen. of touch has a built in receiver. You only need the transmitter and a little pouch to attach to your shoe. You then will be able to experience all the horrible problems that everyone else is experiencing with iOS4.0. When we used iOS3.0 this set up worked great. Once they fix this operating system problem, you'll really like the Nike+ ipod.
Currently, mine will keep track of time, not my run mileage, calories, distance. Then sometimes it will. Most frustrating is when after a 1.5 miles songs skips, run is paused, then started, then paused, started. So frustrating you have to turn it off. Now its just a $500 dollar additional weight on my runs. Wait before you buy.

I'm looking to buy the new ipad but I've a question. I can only afford either the 16gb with cellular or the 32gb without cellular. If one HAD to pick between bigger storage space or the added cellular which would u pick? Please help!

Like I said, I only have WiFi iPads, and don't know much at all about the data plans, but I don't think that you have to commit to a long term contract and I believe that there are plans that you can cancel at any time. My point is that if you sign up for a plan, and you use it say 4 months out of the year, you could be spending that money that you saved on the original cost of the iPad and even more in the future.
Actually, you can look at the AT&T plans here.

New to the iMac and apple

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
If you aren't going to use your Mac for anything special (Final Cut, Aperture, Photoshop, games...), you don't need that graphic card and you will save money.
Also, as it looks like you are going to buy the 27-inch iMac, I recommend you to buy the Mac with 8 GB of memory, and then, buy the memory that your iMac needs in OWC or Crucial (the iMac supports 32 GB of RAM) > http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/memory/iMac/2012_27/DDR3L
Doing this, you will save a lot of money. Also, it won't void the warranty of the Mac. If you need help installing the RAM, see > http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5540

  • Looking into FCE but have a few questions first

Hi. I currently use iMovie HD (can't stand iMovie 09. I need a timeline) to edit my movies and it works well but I want to move up to a more powerful editor with some more bells and whistles. I think FCE is a good fit but I had some questions before I make the leap.
    1. Is there going to be a new version of FCE soon? I know no one can say 100% but are there signs that Apple is getting ready to release a new version (as in prior release history or other signs of a new version on the horizon?)
    2. Will FCE work well on a Intel 20" iMac with 4 GB or RAM (white model right before the new ones)?
    3. Will the system be able to edit in full HD or does that require more horsepower than I have (the 20" iMac asked above)?
    4. Any problems with the Canon HG-20 camcorder? Is there a better one to consider that may work better/easier with FCE?
That's about it. Thanks for the help.

    nflp,
FCE4 is a very, very powerful app. It's almost Final Cut Pro 6, missing a few features (probably most notable is the three way color corrector. There are only two wheels in FCE4. ANd no native 24p support...)
    1. Even if you were to buy FCE4 today and FCE5 came out tomorrow, you could sell your license to someone else (albeit for a small loss. I sold my license a few weeks ago.). I just got Final Cut Studio (it's a coupla years old), because the owner didn't want it anymore. Someone can always take the license off of your hands and you can just get the newer version. But, the new versions may not be suitable for your needs and computer specs (see how you didn't use iMovie '09?).
    2. I used it with 1.5 GB RAM and it flies on an Intel 20". I worked on FCE4, listening to iTunes, using Safari, and blogging while it renders. Takes me about ten minutes to render per minute of footage, but multitasking while it's not rendering is a piece of cake.
    3. I think you mean HDV...if so, it does fine. I use an HV20 and it's works great.
    4. I haven't used the HG20, but prefer tape (for now). The Easy setup presets make everything a breeze: Format: HD, Use: Apple Intermediate Codec 1080i60, Rate: (all rates) and that's it.
    Hope that helps,
    Scott

  • I am looking to buy this Imac tru Craiglist..part no. Z0MX1LL/A

But can't find any info on this part number in apple?
    Why?
    Is it a counterfeit?
The seller sent me a photo of the box with family ID:Z0MX
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

Instead of buying from Craigslist where you could be giving your $$$ away, check out Apple's refurbished Macs. They come with a one year limited warranty just like a new Mac.

  • Looking To Buy A MacBook Pro, But Have A Question

    Hello,
I am looking to purchase a 17” MacBook Pro and was thinking about getting 8 GB of SDRAM on it. My question is would all of the ram be able to be utilized in the system or would it just use up to 4GB of SDRAM. I am wondering about this because this is still a 32 bit system, right?

With Snow Leopard, it's fully 64-bit (with a couple of minor exceptions), so it will make use of all 8 GB of RAM, if you max out the RAM.

  • Thinking of buying a mac mini and had a few questions. D:

I went to Best Buy a while ago, waited about an hour for help and I couldn't get anyone to help me.
haha so anyway, I want to get a mac mini. A reason is because I've never used an operating system other than windows, and all windows-based pcs that I've had start slowing down after a month; even with an anti virus program. So hopefully I won't have that problem with a different operating system.
One thing I wanted to do was to get a small 20-22 in LCD HDTV, would I be able to connect a mac mini onto one? Will it also play HD movies? The reason why I want to get a tv instead of a monitor is because I want to be able to connect a ps3 or xbox on it and play games every once in a while; unless maybe you can do the same with regular pc monitors. Would it be better to get a pc monitor instead? Which would you suggest?
    Thanks lots. :]

The smallest full HD TV is going to be 32" although it's possible there might be one or two that are 26" in size. Anything smaller is going to be 720p and may support 1080i. The other option would be to get a monitor that size as they will more then likely support up to 1080p although as already mentioned bear in mind they may be difficult if at all possible to connect to a gaming console.
Having said that they may possibly come with one or two HDMI connections. Sound will be the other issue and you will have to sort out some sort of external sound option. lastly having full HD on anything smaller then a 32" is probably pointless unless you're sitting right up close to the display.
I currently have my late 2009 Mac Mini connected to a 32" full HD Sony TV via HDMI and it works great. I don't really use it for games though as I have a PS3, 360 and a Wii for that. The Mini goes through my Onkyo surround sound amp to my TV detects it as a 1080p TV. As it's going from mini display to DVI to HDMI I use a separate external JBL 2.1 sound system connected directly to the Mini for the sound. Apparently the Mini is capable of outputting digital surround sound but I've not looked into that yet.

  • Just bought this G5 used... a few questions.

    Hi there,
So I bought this G5 used a month or so ago. I have a few miscellaneous questions about it (as the subject suggests).
    1. I created a new username for myself, and granted the account admin privileges. But, for some reason when I try to access certain folders within the original account (which is not password protected) from the new account, I get an error message reading "The folder "Desktop" could not be opened because you do not have sufficient access privileges". I'm not sure why, and even while looking through the old account, I could not find anything on restricted other accounts from accessing it's folders. There's like 6 folders that I can't access, and they all have a red restrictive icon over the folder icon. Related, I updated Firefox, but it wouldn't allow me to copy the new version into the Applications folder because of the "privilege/access" issue. How do I get rid of the restrictions?
    2. If I delete the original account, will all the software by deleted also? I.E. Photoshop, etc...
    3. Is there anyway to transfer software (like Photoshop) to another computer, without the install disc? Seems unlikely.
    4. Lastly, flash no longer supports PowerPC machines... is there an alternative?
Thanks for your help in advance

re: +4. Lastly, flash no longer supports PowerPC machines...+
This is not exactly true; you can get a fairly recent Adobe Flash player plugin
and also an Adobe Shockwave player plugin for Power PC Macs from their
web site and also use their version checking web page(s) to see what the
Flash/Shockwave versions in the Mac currently are. I have the last versions
in my G4 Macs running Tiger, and in Leopard.
The very most recent Flash player download was for Intel-based Macs.
If you are otherwise up-to-date with the PPC player versions, then you
can check. I've posted this kind of thing a few times; it helps to get and
use the last supported players which are still available. And be sure to
get the correct one(s) before you run their Uninstaller, to be rid of the
old players; this is to be sure the latest supported ones become active
    when they are installed.
Something in my older post here may help; and to keep track of what
is available (since Software Update won't show them) you can keep
the URLs of Adobe's flash & shockwave player check version sites in
a folder along with their Uninstallers; so you can compare your latest
running version with whatever they offer. Then research if its for PPC.
Some of the Adobe pages may not be so clear on which one you need.
    • About flash and shockwave updates:
    http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=13076736#13076736
Hopefully this helps somewhat. When you have a system figured out of
your own, then a method to keep updated becomes easier. Also, if you
use Adobe Reader, there may be a newer/secure version available, too.
PS: You may be able to find an old copy of *"iMac for Dummies" 4th Edition;*
which I have, as it covers the G5 iMac & early Intel-iMac OS X 10.4(.11)
I bought my copy for 10¢ and it was not very informative to me; while on
the other hand, I bought *Missing Manual for Tiger 10.4* at 10¢ which is.
Check charity thrift stores for these kinds of manuals; a great deal, and
a cheap gift to someone else with old Mac who doesn't have a book.
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • I am planning on buying Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 5 ASAP but had a few questions before doing so.

Any help would be appreciated, as I could not find anywhere to contact the company to ask questions regarding Lightroom.
    1. All of my photos (jpeg files) are on my computer hard drive and an external hard drive. Can they be easily imported into Lightroom?
    2. A. After they are imported, do the photos remain in the original location as well (external hard drive/ hard drive)? B. If so, do they therefore take up twice the space on my PC?
    3. Can I import jpeg images directly from my camera (or only raw files?)
    4. I am planning on upgrading to an Mac computer in the near future. Can I take carry over the editing, rating, sorting of photos, etc. that I have done in Lightroom on my windows PC to the Mac computer when I get it or will I have to redo everything?
    5. Can I open images from Lightroom in Photoshop Elements?
    6. I can purchase Adobe Lightroom 5 without buying the Creative Cloud subscription, correct?
Again, I would appreciate some answers ASAP because I have photos that I need to sort for my work and cannot do so until I buy Lightroom or another software if necessary. Also, if there is a faster/better way to get questions answered please let me know (I'm new to Adobe.) Thanks!!!

If you want to have the photos stored on an external HD, you probably should move them there in your operating system before you import into Lightroom.
But, if you don't yet own an external HD, you can import from the internal hard drive and later move the photos to wherever you want them to be, as long as you do it properly.
