Problems with integrated video files, some videos working, others not
Hello,
I have pdf files where video clips are integrated. Most of them are in the AVI container format with FFODIVX codec and without audio. These can be played within the pdf file.
I tried to convert the video clips that are not working to the same format and also to many different other codecs and combinations of codecs. But it didn't help. Some clips are just not working. Are there any additional limitations that I have to consider. Or does anybody has an idea, what the problem could be?

You may have a third party video player installed that's causing an incompatibility issue.

ThanksI'm not too sure what Crawkers is, but I do not think DW has that capability out of the box. There are some web based solutions that will scan you site for you and give you a map for search engines. I choose to go with a commercial option which is pretty good from WebAssist, it's called Surveyor: http://www.webassist.com/dreamweaver-extensions/surveyor/ .

im trying to make some changes on our website (oilfiltercrushers.com). Im using DW CC 2014, 8.8, HP Pavion pc. The problems include:trying to move an image farther to the left & also to remove too much vertical space, trying to remove "AAAs tht show up on a webpage table even they don't show on the local file that was put, a webpage that I cant see on the website even though it was put & appears in the remote files folder. Thanx for your response and commenting on our homepage. I wasn't aware of the problems you mentioned. However it has ranked on the first page of Google, etc for 20 years, so that's not my concern at this point.
The 2 most immediate things are getting rid of the A"s showing up on the table on oilfiltercrushers/truck_ofc.aspx and on /defaultnew.aspx , (the intended home page when I get it fixed,) I get a server error highlighting line 293

. Im not sure what to do about that...

My daughter has had her Razr for about 9 months now. About two weeks ago she picked up her phone in the morning on her way to school when she noticed two cracks, both starting at the camera lens. One goes completely to the bottom and the other goes sharply to the side. She has never dropped it and me and my husband went over it with a fine tooth comb. We looked under a magnifying glass and could no find any reason for the glass to crack. Not one ding, scratch or bang. Our daughter really takes good care of her stuff, but we still wanted to make sure before we sent it in for repairs. Well we did and we got a reply from Motorola with a picture of the cracks saying this was customer abuse and that it is not covered under warranty. Even though they did not find any physical damage to back it up. Well I e-mailed them back and told them I did a little research and found pages of people having the same problems. Well I did not hear from them until I received a notice from Fed Ex that they were sending the phone back. NOT FIXED!!! I went to look up why and guess what there is no case open any more for the phone. It has been wiped clean. I put in the RMA # it comes back not found, I put in the ID #, the SN# and all comes back not found. Yet a day earlier all the info was there. I know there is a lot more people like me and all of you, but they just don't want to be bothered so they pay to have it fix, just to have it do it again. Unless they have found the problem and only fixing it on a customer pay only set up. I am furious and will not be recommending this phone to anyone. And to think I was considering this phone for my next up grade! NOT!!!!

I'd like to watch movies and TV shows, downloaded from iTunes or Amazon, on my MacBook Pro Retina, but they all look like they were filmed with an old sock over the lens. Daytime sequences look muddy, and night time sequences are incomprehensible with anything but the brightest objects rendered as black. I can watch the same files on my old MacBook Air and everything looks right, but no manner of tweaking seems to let me watch movies on my new machine.
I've tried adjusting the gamma. It's a bit better when gammas is set to 1.0, but I can't seem to set a gamma less than one. I tried using the Accessibility Contrast control, but it just lowers the contrast, swallowing my desktop into the dark abyss. I tried Applecare, but they don't have a clue. I tried the Apple Store. The "genius" confirmed that it is indeed impossible to watch movies shot anywhere but in the brightest sunlight on a MacBook Pro Retina, and it isn't just my machine, but every similar model in the store. He arranged for someone who really understands color profiles to give me a call, but Apple seems to have dropped the ball on this.
Is there some tool for stretching out the darker grays in Apple video? I don't want calibration. My impression is that my display, like the dozens I checked at the Apple Store are calibrated to make all dimmer grays appear completely black. I want uncalibration so I can actually see what is going on in the movies even if something is in a light shadow or shot at night. Hollywood has lots of trained technicians who can light and shoot night scenes that are quite comprehensible. I've watched a number of such scenes on my old MacBook Air. Now, I'd like to enjoy their artistry on my MacBook Pro Retina.http://www.ifixit.com/ has directions for do it yourself. Also look at PRAM battery instructions, as sometimes this can fix optical drive issues.

I own as above a MAC PRO (Early 2008) this has a RAID card installed along with two 15k.7 cheetah hdd (320gb) and a spare drive, (which i made a regular drive)
a while ago i had to replace the RAID card battery, so i did this, over a year later the same thing happened again, but as previous just left it and the system seemed fine for ages, until last night i was working in PHOTOSHOP and everything just froze and the screen kind of appeared GREEN, could not do a single thing. So restarted the mac, this time grey screen for ages and a message appeared, (macs version of blue screen) (see attached).
I restarted the machine and this time a flashing question mark folder!
could not do a thing.
so i found my copy of snow leopard and got the computer to run this and at least launch the DISK UTILITY and (Interestingly in the drop down menu RAID UTILITY was also in the menu) but it did not matter which utility i used the (RAID or DISK) neither could see any of drives, just the dvd drive.
so looked around on you tube and various forums and discovered if i take out the RAID CARD and re-plug the main lead from the RAID card back in to the LOGIC BOARD I would be reverting the MAC to a normal regular non-RAID computer.
After performing this HARDWARE task and inserting all three HDD, and running the DISK utility from the drop down menu via the SNOW LEOPARD disc.
(interestingly since the RAID card had been removed the RAID UTILITY from the drop down menu no longer appeared). running disk utility I can now only see the regular (spare) hdd and DVD Drive, but the two RAID HDD , again, still do not show up DISK UTILITY?
O.K. so i could chuck out the RAID card (AND RAID HDD) and just go with a regular set-up, and run a back restore from Time Machine on a NEW hdd purchased.
but what is wrong with the RAID, is the card at fault or are both HDD used for the RAID knackered? can i perform any tests, to see whats what?
thanks for your help in advanced.hello people, the issue was in fact the GRAPHICS card nothing to do with the HDD or RAID system ( although this did cause issues with the RAID system it basically lost its way) below is my replay to another similar problem some one else had!
working in photoshop and then everything stopped working and the lot froze! only option was to force shutdown (via button).
and try to restart, hoping all was fine, this was not the case :-(
I had the added issue of the RAID card system, that i have, this was confused to say the lease and would not behave or work, causing the start up to hang.
so i thought the HDD must be bust and the root cause. ( but soon learnt it was not the cause )
...bought a new HDD removed the RAID card and replugged the cable from RAID card into LOGIC board, ( making the computer act like any normal non-RAID system). I managed to install the OSX, using the snow leopard disk way. once the mac was running, i started to notice the screen would flicker and started to see 'artefacts'. so i started to reveal my symptoms to the web and forums and soon discovered that my graphics card could be the issue all along?.
(nvidia geforce 8800gt 2x dvi).
I read up on that a fix, could be either A. reply the thermal paste, as the card could be over heating or B. stick the card in the oven trick.
Tried option A. first and nothing still issues, so last night took the plunge carried out option B. and ta da it worked! i even managed to run
from my new HDD my lasted install OS X, absolutely fine. I then thought, maybe i could repair my RAID so replugged all the HARDWARD back in and
carried out a disk repair and disk permissions on drives( took a small amount of time), via the SNOW LEOPARD disc - (Disk utilities) and this worked and now have my system working as it was just over 6 days ago.
what was the cost to get this? bought a new hdd so 40.00gbp and thermal paste and cleaner kit ( your still need to do this ) search video card trick on you tube.
and renew thermal paste, approx 15.00gbp, technically i don't need the new HDD, but it was all part of the trial and error way i went. ( i do have extra storage as a result!)" -

Can someone help with a OpenCV DLL example?
OpenCV is an Open Source computer vision library released by intel. It is very handy for face reconition. There is a third party group called HyTek automation that created a commercial LV OpenCV wrapper called IVision, nice by if you just want to use a few of the features it would be nice to see some examples to help those of us simply expirimenting. To that end there was a guy on the code project site that created a free OpenCV DLL wrapper that seems to have made all the constructors public inside the DLL so LV should be able to access them. I was hoping someone could help by creating an example that shows a facal reconiton and possibly showing how to pull that area out to allow it to be saved as a seperate file. I have been expirimenting with it but am unsure if all the flags and memory need to be setup as shown on the WIKI link.

But if it is about getting Vision analysis to work, the IMAQ Vision library is a better way to go about this, and if you insist on using OpenCV as core library and do not want to spend as much money, the IVision library is another possibility. They both ain't free but you do get good value for what you pay for, especially with the IVision library.

This error is usually a "Optical Power Calibration error" and can be caused by software conflicts, a firmware that needs to be updated, or a blank CD that the drive cannot read/write too (Not all drives are compatible with all brands of blank CDs sad to say)
I tried to look for your exact CD burning model on the dell site for a "Dimension 2400" but didn't see an exact model matching "NEC CD-RW NR-9300A" so if it is a burner that came with the PC when you bought it, you will have to goto the dell site www.dell.com to download the correct firmware update. If its one you had installed after you bought the PC, then goto the NEC site for the update www.NEC.com -

3. No. DVD players can't play BluRay discs -- even if they are burned to a DVD disc.
4. 1080p50 is a perfectly legitimate mode for shooting, particularly if you're shooting video with a lot of action, since it has double the actual frames of 1080i50. However, your output video may or may not actually have 50p frames (or even be 1920x1080), depending on what form of media you're publishing as. The BluRay files that Premiere Elements outputs, for instance are 50i. -

I need to find someone to PAY to help me convert a Pagemaker 6.5 file to a PDF with Truetype embedded fonts.
I have spent 35 hours trying to figure it out. Sending how-to stuff does not work. I need to PAY someone to help me fix it please.
I have tried an amazing number of ways of trying to fix it, and nothing works.
It is a 280 page file. It is not worth it to me to buy Indesign to convert this one file. Please help.I finally got the file to print out properly. I am so happy. Thank you, thank you to all of you who posted here. You were the key to my getting this to work! Here's what I learned:
I am using Windows XP. Really!
Pagemaker 6.5 is not good a creating a pdf with large files and particularly so if there are a lot of embedded images. I did have problems with a corrupt file because I was able to make a pdf with a simple file and then even that stopped working. Always make several backup copies of large files in case your file goes corrupt. Then you can go back to an earlier copy and start again.
It is important to do a "Save As" with a new file name before starting to create a pdf. This simplifies and compresses the file for easier pdf creation.
If you are starting a file from scratch that will be made into a pdf, use a Postscript font, not a TrueType font for fewer problems.
I finally ended up buying a copy of an upgrade from Pagemaker 6.5 to Pagemaker 7.0.2 on Ebay. It had a serial number. I know there could have been problems with that but for just one file I was willing to try it. I did not want to go through the possible long reworking if I imported the file into Indesign. Especially since there may have been problems with the resolution of images. Also with Pagemaker 7 there was Acrobat Distiller 6 that I installed. Before I only had version 5.
Open your file in Pagemaker 7: Then click on File, Export, Adobe PDF, Distill Now.
To check if embedded fonts in PDF: In Adobe Reader- File, Properties, Fonts.
For any new documents where I need a PDF with embedded fonts, I am going to use Indesign. But for this one file. Buying an upgrade to Pagemaker was worth it.
Optional: If your TrueType fonts are not embedding:
Outside of Pagemaker set up printer (you only do this once): Go to "Start" in Windows at bottom right of screen. In right column click on "Printers and Faxes". Right click on "PDFCreator". (This printer is created by installing PDFCreator program. I am not associated with them at all. Other programs will work too for this.) Select "Printing Prefrences", then "Layout", "Advanced", "Graphic", "Download as Softfont (Truetype)". Save.
Open Pagemaker document. In "File", "Document Setup", change printer to "PDFCreator".
On another topic, I think if would be nice if Adobe sold a light version of Indesign for people with simple needs. Buying a new version of Indesign for $650 for only 1 file is too much. Though as stated above they do have the online monthly program. But for people who only have occassional small needs for it a light version would be great.
