I am looking to replace macally BTmouse. Any recomendations would be great.

Jey,
here is my hyperterm replacement, I use it for first serial tests on new devices.
It's maybe more than you need and not even documented.
It's in LabVIEW 7.1 now (was 6.1), and this new serial assistant looks even more powerful than this, however I haven't used the assistant (started with LV3.1 ;-)

Looking to replace internal hard drives in a MacPro.  Was thinking about 3TB.  Any recommendations?

Look in System Report for the link speed available. (Mine says 3 Gigabit.) Get drives with at least that speed; going beyond that won't get you any more performance.

Can I use a 60watt t adapter with my 2011 mac book pro 13"?  I have the L adapter now, but looking for replacement that will last!

Yes, a 13" non-Air model requires a minimum of 60 watts, so you will be fine. If it is a 2011 or earlier model, the connector is the regular MagSafe, whereas this year's models use the MagSafe 2 that is different.

Thanks, but are these are silent?
Why do they cost over 10 x what seems available for PC?

    Hi Allan...
Will try to keep this short. Tried to respond yesterday...but message kept coming back as undeliverable.
    I am in SW Louisiana.
Did some checking. Back in Sept of 2006, my screen went black and was experiencing some "popping sounds" prior to it going black. Took it to Baton Rouge (about a 2 hour drive) to CompUSA. They kept it a month and "repaired" it. If I do some serious looking in boxes of old receipt files, I may be able to find the receipt. (Kept receipts because we got flooded out by Katrina in the New Orleans area and was living with mother-in-law during repairs.)
Currently I have the same little problem described earlier to you...collapse to center and black screen for about 15 minutes. Once or twice daily. It has been consistant since first happening back in August...and usually daily when on the computer.
My computer is in the G84201xxxxx range and an eMac USB 2.0.
Saw the message to look at the ones on eBay. Saw a used computer lab one for about $150. May decide to buy it. (Am leery because I bought one some years ago that turned out to be stolen -- I had to give it up when a tech working on the screen saw the serial number from a list of stolen computers from a college computer lab.)
Basically, in your opinion, this problem that I am having will or will not get worse? Capicator problem or cable problem?
Am wondering if the fix done in '06 actually replaced the cable? and WHY I was not told of the recall problem at the time. I know that I had to pay well over $100 for the fix, whatever it was.
Anyway, I will call the 1-800 number this week but expect little or no assistance from them.
When experiencing the problem initially back in 2006, I called Apple tech support and they could do nothing for me and my problem? My extended warranty had run out and was no longer renewable. Strange, if there was a recall fix out there for the problem that I was having, nothing was told to me.
    Anyway, thanks for your input!

  • What loops come with version 8? Looking to replace Garageband and Soundtrak

I am looking to replace Garageband 08 and Soundtrack 1.5 with Logic Express 8. Should I save those audio libraries or does LE 8 have it's own or duplicate?
    Thanks, Ed

    Hi,
I'm pretty sure that, whatever you have available to you in Garageband, is also available in E8 so, yeah, E8 is pulling from the same loops. I can't really be sure if E8 has extra loops simply because I've bought and/or downloaded so many loops over the past year or so that I've pretty much lost track of what were the original loops. What I can tell you is that they are much better organized in LE8. For instance I bought some drum loops from "Drums on Demand" and in the media section of LE8 they're listed under "Drums on Demand" which garageband and LE7 did not do. There was nothing in the literature stating that LE8 came with extra loops. Pro 8, however, comes with the first 5 jam packs included. That pretty good when you figure that that's nearly $500.00 worth of loops plus all the other extra stuff you get with Logic Pro Studio and it's only $299.00 more. The reason I didn't go pro is that I already have the sounds, plugins and loops that I need for the music that I do so, for me personally, Pro would just have been overkill. But if I ever get tired of my external synth the I might ditch it, buy a controller and go with Logic Pro Studio. It's nice to have the option at such a reasonable price.

  • IWeb - looking for replacements for 'blog' & 'photos'

With a deep Sigh..., I am finally facing up to the fact that I must move my iWeb Websites to another hosting sight and deal with the loss of the intergrated blog & photo pages that come with iWeb.  I kept hoping for a miracle but now I must get on with it.  I would be grateful for advice from those who have dealt with this issue already.
My biggest concern is finding suitable replacements for the blog and photo galleries that can be embedded into iWeb having a matching 'look and feel'.
I have developed many robust (well of 50) websites with iWeb and they are active websites.   The websites have:
Custom layouts (i.e. not using the suppled defalut template)
Blog pages (used as 'News' entries)
    Photo pages
    iMovie
    HTML Snipits
Many have been designed for use with charity events and recieve quite a bit of traffic (see stats below) before and during the event.
As for the hosting - we will use GoDaddy or other Domain Provide with Hosting services.   We have already moved some of the more less complicated websites over.
I love iWeb (I know it has it's faults and I have probably pushed it to it's limits but it has handled it well).  I have tried looking at other products like Rapidweaver & Freeway Pro (Dreamweaver would be out of the question for me as I'm not a programmer - I can deal with some basic html code for snippets and such - but that's my limit).  My partner has begun looking at Wordpress.  However, the biggest drawback from what I've seen from these other products is that I can't duplicate the freedom and ease of designing a template/layout the way I want it.  I have tried to duplicate a website I have done in iWeb and I simply can't do it with these other products (at least without a great deal of work - if at all).
So, I wish to continue using iWeb for the main website desgin but desparately need to find good replacements for the blog and photo galleries to move over my existing websites.
    Please HELP!
This is my 1st time up on the forums so I do apologise if this has been dealt with before.  In my searches - I just haven't really found an answer which is why I'm submitting this question.
    Many thanks, MichelleSC
P.S. I have been an Apple user since Apple began and have always raved about their products.   This is the 1st time I have been frustration with Apple.  I really wish they would continue to develop iWeb and keep Mobileme.

Do you have visitors post comments to your blog or it is one the only includes your entries?  If it's the atter then you can continue to use the iWeb blog. If you currently have visitors comment on the entires you will have to move to a new blogging system, one of those suggested by Ethmoid and Jeff.
As for photo albums I've just run across a new site called ZangZig which offers albums similar to MobileMe galleries with most of it's features plus one that MMe didn't have.  The capability of selling your photos.
One convenient feature of it is that it can move/copy photos from your existing MMe galleries as well as your iPhoto library and other sources:
As for for iWeb can do after MMe is gone read the following:
On June 30, 2012 MobileMe will be shutdown. HOWEVER, iWeb will still continue to work but without the following:
Features No Longer Available Once MobileMe is Discontinued:
    ◼ Password protection
    ◼ Blog and photo comments
    ◼ Blog search
    ◼ Hit counter
    ◼ MobileMe Gallery
Currently if the site is published directly from iWeb to the 3rd party server the RSS feed and slideshow subscription features will work. However, if the site is first published to a folder on the hard drive and then uploaded to the sever with a 3rd party FTP client those two features will be broken.
All of these features can be replaced with 3rd party options.
There's another problem and that's with iWeb's popup slideshows.  Once the MMe servers are no longer online the popup slideshow buttons will not display their images.
However, Roddy McKay and I have figured out a way to modify existing sites with those slideshows and iWeb itself so that those images will display as expected once MobileMe servers are gone.  How to is described in this tutorial: iW14 - Modify iWeb So Popup Slideshows Will Work After MobileMe is Discontinued.  There's a link in the tutorial to download the file that one needs to be edited and replaced in existing slideshows and in the iWeb application for future slideshows. Once replaced in the application it's back to life as usual for iWeb.

  • Looking for replacement DVD drive

Have a P6650z desktop, and the dvd drive needs to be replaced. I intentionally didn't get a Dell b/c I was thinking that I'd be getting better hardware.
OK I'm looking at a couple of DVD drives, but I'm not sure if they will fit the bay of my Pavillion or not--the Pavillion has a special eject button on the outside of the bay itself. Could I install either of these drives into my Pavillion?

    Hi,
Based on this link, your machine uses standard bays that means any standard Optical drive should fit. Do you have any plan to add Blue Ray drive on your machine ? If YES, you can go for BD drive now, probably you have to pay around $10 more.

  • Looking for replacement 17" screen in UK

I dropped my PowerBook 17" - only a couple of feet on to a carpeted floor, but the LCD screen is smashed. My local dealer has quoted £1000 for repair, and I just wanted to investigate whether it would be feasible to replace the screen myself. I can't find where to source the part in the UK though - any ideas?
In case it is interesting, it's worth noting that the PowerBook had problems rebooting too. My data is safe, but the machine did not respond well to my impromptu crash-testing program. In fairness, there's no reason why it should.
All information gratefully received - thanks.

I realise the general idea of the forum is not to answer your own questions, but I've carried on researching this and found http://www.macfixcentre.com, who look promising and claim to for a replacement screen for £399. I'll find out if they can.

  • Looking for replacement DIN cable for FPS2000

So my FPS 2000 has served me well, and is in good working order. However, the long extention DIN male - male cable that came with the unit was damaged in a recent move. This is the long cable used to connect the FPS2000 to the small DIN to Digital cable that plugs into the SBLive! card in my PC.
Anyone know how I can buy a replacement? Or have the specs on the cable so I can build one?

I'm also looking for that cable, mine got lost when i moved.
If you still have the damaged cable you could get the pinout using a tester or something, so that a new one can be built

  • Looking to replace the original 6 Gig HD

    Hi everyone
Jim tells me that there are a few folks out here, who may be provide a some tips in replacing the old original 6 gig HD.
I was warned to that a very large capacity HD wouldn't be conducive to an OS 9.1 format. So I'll need to get something not too large.
I also want to make certain that a 7200 RPM, ATA-type HD would work ok?
I know from experience that when I bought a new 2nd internal drive for my G5, that most of the drives I was shopping for were all pre-formatted for 'WINDOWS', so I had to utilize OS 10.4's erase and format ultility which worked fine.
Can you guys provide a tip here in regard to OS 9.1?
    Thanx all
    Mike

    Hi Mac Man (Jim)
    Hi Don
    Jim was right
It's very nice to see how some folks still love their old G3's, and how helpful eveyone is
    Ok Don looks like:
(B&W G3) Rev. 1 and Rev. 2 logic boards are similar. To differentiate, check the number printed on the CMD chip at location U1. The CMD chip on Rev. 1 logic boards is PCI646U2 and on Rev. 2 logic boards is 646U2-402.
With this I should get started - although on 2nd thought, I really wasn't gonna get anything bigger than about a 40-60 Gig anyway.
And yes this new drive will be the main HD (I already have a 2nd 20 Gig drive)
With a bigger main HD drive capacity, and some additional RAM, I was hoping to pep up the performance a bit....
Ok - I'll look for an ATA-type 7200 RPM 40-60 Gig HD (perhaps from New Egg)?
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16822148096
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16822148013
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16822144173
And then - here's my plan - but don't know if it's correct:
Put the Apple OS 9.1 disc in the CD ROM (it's the full retail boot disc)
Boot down, take the old 6 gig HD drive out, and replace it with a new 60 Gig HD
Boot back up by pressing the power button, and holding down the C key for a format from the OS 9.1 disc in the CD ROM?
Look for any prompts to get me into the Drive Set Up Utility?
(or perhaps this will automatically come up when I initially boot up)?
    Thanx so much Don
    Mike
