I am missing a lot of music when I sync

Hi, I hav e an iphone4, I have recenlty updated itunes and phone software. Now when I check certain artists less than half of my of songs get transferred to my phone after sync.  When I check selected artists etc, it shows 700 odd songs yet less than 300 get transferred. When I then check entire playlist  it indicates I have 1300+ songs yet only 800 or so get transferred.  I have never experienced this problem before, so if anyone has any suggestions I would be most grateful. Thank you

im missing a lot of music where did it go and how do i bring it back on my library

No way for anyone here to know where it went, as you have provided no info about your issue.
Use your backup copy of your computer to put everything back.

I have all my music on an external media drive that has crashed. How can I get the music of my ipod touch back onto the comupter without loosing the music when it syncs. in order to start rebuilding my music collection?

You should be able to recover the media with the tips in  this post from forum regular Zevoneer but I'm not sure what the implications are for your application settings. You can probably transfer your purchases into a newly authorised library, backup the device, recover any other media using third party tools, then restore the device from the backup. That should switch the assocation of the device to the new library but it is not something I've personally tested.
When you get it all working, make a backup!

  • Losing music when I sync to another iTunes

Hi - I'm wondering whether I can sync my ipod to more than one iTunes without wiping the exisitng content of my ipod?
is it possible to ensure that when, for instance, i plug my ipod into a mates itunes, it doesn't automatically sync all his tunes to my ipod and wipe what i already have on there?
a lot of the music i have was difficult to come by so am worried about taking the risk unless i know for sure that they won't disappear.
also, my existing tunes were ripped from Windows PC - does it make a difference if i sync from both Windows and Mac?
be great to hear some thoughts.
    cheers

Hello and Welcome to Apple Discussions.
To use with both a Mac and PC you'll need to have the iPod in FAT32 format:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=61672
Then you need to disable Auto Syncing. Simply check "Manually manage music and videos" on the Summary pane in iTunes:

  • Syncing music   when i sync the music it erases the audiobooks and movies

Is there a way to add more music without erasing everything in the iTunes account?
I have created a playlist called iphone and put any music in it that I would like on my iphone, I manually manage syncing my iPhone.
When I add music to this playlist and then want to sync it to the iphone 4 it erases all the other stuff and I have to resync that other stuff again.
Is there a way to just add music without having to resync all the audiobooks and movies etc?
    Thanks

Mine did that too. Did you tried authorizing it again? I had to authorize mine every few times I synced, but it would work if I did it again! Then it just tells me that I have already authorized this computer, but it works.

  • I bought an iPhone 5 from a friend and want to keep the music that is on the phone. Anyway to do this without losing the music when i sync to my Macbook?

I Bought an iPhone 5 from a friend and want to keep his music. If i sync it to my Mac i will lose it. Any way i can keep the music?

Your friend does get to keep.  .Purchases are locked forever to the Apple id used to purchase them
They just download again using the same Apple id

  • Lost music when I syncing

I synced my phone and must have done something wrong, my purchased music is gone. It is not on the itunes in the computer either. Can I restore music purchased from the itunes store? Could it be hidden on my computer? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

If you downloaded it via iTunes, it should still be in your music folder on your computer. If you downloaded it via the iPhone then its gone.
However, if you go to your email receipt and click the "report a problem" link you will be able to explain the situation to the iTunes store personnel and they might be able to help you. I had this happen to me once and they re-enabled the song for download on my account.

  • HT201272 My iPhone won't download music from iCloud only apps. The songs appear to download, then give a download error message just before it finishes. Also the songs won't transfer when I sync the phone to pc, only the apps.

My iPhone only downloads apps from iCloud, the songs get almost finish then I get a download error message. Also the only thing that syncs are the apps, not the music when I sync on pc?

    Hi,
I experienced the same issue as you have. What worked for me is the following:
Go to iTunes store on your iPad. Under Downloads (the icon to the bottom right) you should see the episode that is causing you the issue. Delete this episode (swipe to left). Then retry. This worked for me.
The workaround is far from ideal and Apple needs to find a solution for this as you are not the only one who reported this issue.

  • I loaded a lot of music from my CDs on to my iMac at home.  All my music is stored on the cloud.  So why is the music on my MacBook Pro different.  The CDs are missing from this list.

I loaded a lot of music from my CDs on to my iMac at home.  All my music is stored on the cloud.  So why is the music on my MacBook Pro different.  The CDs are missing from this list. The iTunes account details I use on both computers is the same.

    Hi Chris,
    Thanks for the reply.
I think you ave sorted my problem with your question.  I thought that as my iTunes account was on their server (Cloud) and I had previously added CDs which showed up, that all my music was "on the cloud".  I used to use Match but when I turned it off lost all my music that I had previously loaded onto my computer.
So I guess I have to use the cloud again to access my songs.  This is frustrating as I fly a lot and can not use the music (Cloud based) when the phone is in flight mode as there is no internet.
So how then do I retrieve all my music to my iMac and have my laptop synced so they are the same?
    I am totally confused now.

When you said you have no fax machines on your line, that does include computers directly connected to the phone line?
The reason that I ask is a computer with a dial-up modem (a non broadband modem) that can connect to your phone line, can have software that makes the computer act as a fax machine.

  • I just purchased a new iMac. My iTunes account is missing a ton of music and I cant figure out how to access it. When I try to load music from my ipod to match my imac it only asks if i'd like to sink my ipod with my account. How do I access my library?

I just purchased a new iMac. My iTunes account is missing a ton of music and only contains "purchased" music. When I try to load music from my ipod to match my imac it only asks if i'd like to sinc my ipod with my account. How do I access my entire library? Thanks

Unless you subscribe to Match, you will have to transfer your non-iTunes stuff from your old computer:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4527
If you want to copy non-iTunes music off of your iPod (eg, if your old computer doesn't exist), you'll need to use a third party program.  I don't know of any free ones anymore, but if you google, you can find several in the $19 range.

  • When I sync my iPhone 4s running 5.1 music is missing.

When I sync my iPhone 4s running 5.1 music is missing.  I restored my phone and nothing.  I un-synced my music and then re-synced nothing.  I am running the latest iTunes software nothings working. I've also tried syncing through wifi and the usb
    Please help
PS this would happen in the past.  All my music would be there then some disapeer on the next sync.  Then come back! its a reicuring delema for me!!!

The only limit is that of the device. No restrictions on how much of it you can use for music. Is part of your music library unchecked?
