I am missing colors in my Adobe Pantone Plus Library that are in my physical Pantone Plus Swatch Book.

I have the most recent Illustrator downloaded and the Pantone Plus Library however I cannot find some Pantone numbers that are in my physical Pantone Plus book. One specifically is PMS Blue 2384.
What do I do?

Thanks but that is not the problem. I figured it out. You have to download Pantone Color Manager Software and use the serial number from your registered Pantone Plus book to register the software. Once you do that then you can download the extra 360 colors and then export them to the Adobe programs...
Pain in the *** but it's the only way to get the extra colors in the Pantone plus book to your adobe Pantone Plus Library.The new Library is called Pantone+ V2.
Thank you for the response though!

  • Is there any simple way to find items in the library that are missing?

    That is, library entries that point to a missing file?
    Thanks, MZ

    I think you'll find definitions of simple vary...
    FWIW iTunes Folder Watch doesn't modify anything unless you ask it to. iTunes creates an XML file which can by quizzed by 3rd party apps. One of the features of iTFW is to read this file and scan your folders to confirm that each file referenced exists. You can review the list of dead tracks and decide what to do, e.g. manually remove them from iTunes, restore from a backup etc.
    That said there is an iTunes only solution to your question:
    1. Create an empty playlist called "Found".
    2. Select the Music source, use CTRL-A to select all items.
    3. Drag this selection onto the "Found" playlist and wait with your mouse button held down while iTunes counts how many items there are. Release when iTunes catches up with you.
    4. Create a new Smart Playlist called "Not Found". Rules are *Playlist is Music* and *Playlist is not Found*.
    Any files with broken links won't have been copied into the manual playlist and hence will be "Not Found".
    Going back to the original discrepancy between numbers of tracks in iTunes & on your iPod it's also worth noting that it is sometimes possible to create more than one library entry to the same physical file. In this instance only one file is ever copied to the iPod. This can also trigger files that sync on every connection. iTunes & iPod may also count music videos differently.
    Lastly, I think the "The iPod cannot be resynched. The required file cannot be found" error is not related to media files that might be missing but more to do with iTunes having trouble accessing the iPod itself.

  • Adobe folder in Library

    Hi all,
    I've been trying to get to the bottom of this reduced battery life on my new Macbook Air.
    I found several articles about Flash reducing battery life, and so I removed it. Doing that, I found a folder named Adobe in my Library that is an astonishing 1.1 Gb!!
    Most of the files are pre-2009 (I used Time Machine to get my Air going from an 2006 Macbook Pro so inherited a lot of rubbish....!).
    I don't use any Adobe software now except for Adobe Reader, which I have to use as I get some PDF forms that Preview just can't open. I still have Photoshop Elements, but never upgraded it and hardly use it.
    So, my question is, can I trash that huge folder from the Library without suffering for it?? I know I may have to re-install Reader, but that's no biggy.
    Thanks for any advice.

    When I try to save another excel file that I have also opened from a password protected zip file, the automatic folder selected is "wzQL.8t0UHS". When I try to save a file with exactly the same name as the file that is missing into the folder "wzQL.8t0UHS" it tells me that the file already exists and asks if I want to replace it.
    My assumption was therefore that it was some kind of cache where the file is intact.
    When I've done a search on the name of the file I am looking for in Finder, I do not find the file.

    I've moved your question from the Acrobat.com forum to the Adobe Digital Editions forum, as you're more likely to find someone to answer your question here.

  • PANTONE 4-Color Process in Adobe

    Tearing my hair out here, so I'm turning to people no doubt far more knowledgeable and experienced than me!
    I've been given some style guidelines which contain colours referenced by the Pantone Process system, e.g. Pantone DE 196-2 C.
    Is it possible to find this colour as a swatch in an Adobe application? It seems that all of the Adobe Pantone libraries use a different numbering convention (PMS).
    I've heard mention of "Pantone Process Coated" libraries - I'm not seeing that as part of my CS6 Design Standard installation. I do have "Pantone CMYK Coated", but it uses a numbering convention along the lines of "Pantone P 123-4 C".
    Any help? If you're given a colour spec using Pantone Process colours, how do you get started in Adobe?
    Many thanks in advance
    Pete.

    Last post was a while ago, but if you still need the information, the swatches appear to be in the:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Illustrator CS4\Presets\en_US\Swatches\Color Books (Windows). On a Mac it's probably very similar location, once you get to the Illustrator CS4 folder.
    The files are Adobe Color Book files. I did a quick test and I was able to import them into Illustrator CC. You could also make a copy of the ACB file and put it into the same location for CS6. That way when you start up it will always be in your Swatches > Color Books list.

    Hi there Mylenium, is there any way you can help me? My cs6 is doing all kinds weird things lately. The liquifying too stopped working completely, when I try to work with the actions, it starts flickering and changing opacity in color by itself. It starts flickering and is completely out of whack! I tried uninstalling and reinstalling and still no luck. I tried getting in touch with adobe and no luck with that neither! Is there anyway you might be able to help?

  • Change multiple color definitions to same pantone?

    I am using FM10, I need to change a few unque color definitions to the same pantone color, I was successful with the first one but got system messages about not being able to define more colors to that same pantone. I understand this is a program rule, but I am wondering if there is a way around it because I still need to define those other colors as the same pantone. I tried a work around that failed - defining the same properties of the pantone I wish to use with regard to cmyb values but the color was not the same as the coated pantone I was trying to emulate, is there a trick I am missing here? Thanks for any help you may provide.

    Disclaimer: I don't work in managed or CMYK color. We leave (sRGB) color in, but print in B&W bitmap.
    I suspect that the thing that provides end-to-end color control with the Library colors is that they encode a <ColorLibraryInkName ...> which is passed into the PostScript output and also into any PDF output. The print shop or Pantone-aware RIP can see this name(tag), and knows how to render it. The encoded CMYK is probably ignored in that case (and may not match the initial Library settings in any case).
    The actual CMYK values in the PS and PDF are usually trashed by the Windows GDI, which despite the fake CMYK available in Vista SP1 and later, is still an RGB engine.
    If you save a document as a MIF, you can see the encodings using a plaintext editor.
    In the <ColorCatalog section of a test MIF, a typical Pantone looks like:
    <Color
      <ColorTag `PANTONE 3308 CVC'>
      <ColorCyan  99.998474>
      <ColorMagenta  0.000000>
      <ColorYellow  59.999084>
      <ColorBlack  71.998596>
      <ColorLibraryFamilyName `PANTONE\xa8  Coated'>
      <ColorLibraryInkName `PANTONE 3308 CVC'>
    > # end of Color
    Now suppose we create what we think is the same CMYK color:
    <Color
      <ColorTag `CMYK-100-0-60-72'>
      <ColorCyan  100.000000>
      <ColorMagenta  0.000000>
      <ColorYellow  60.000000>
      <ColorBlack  72.000000>
    > # end of Color
    Notice two things:
    No name. The print shop (or Pantone-aware print engine) has only the who-knows-what CMYK values to work with.
    The initial CMYK values aren't even the same, although they look identical in the Color Definitions dialog. And they will be even more different in the PS and PDF on the Windows platform.
    There could be easily be a more elegant way to fix this, but for a single file, a simple MIF hack would be:
    Make sure the named Pantone color is in the Color Catalog.
    Find, in the <ColorCatalog, each custom color that needs to be redefined.
    Delete it, from and including <Color to and including > # end of Color.
    Batch replace all other occurances of that custom color with the Pantone.
    Using the examples above, change all
    <FColor `CMYK-100-0-60-72'>
    to
    <FColor `PANTONE 3308 CVC'>
    Repeat the above for each custom color.
    Save the MIF and re-open in Frame.
    Another way to get all your CMYK content under a measure of color control is to do ALL the color content as imported EPS. Mr.Bill's GDI shredder passes it through unscathed. This means no Frame art and color text only with great annoyance.

  • Synchronizing color settings in Adobe Bridge

    I want to synchronize color settings in Adobe Bridge and I've currently installed photoshop extended CS5 and InDesing CS5.5 (these programs are not installed from any Adobe Creative Suite package. I mean these are not from:
    Adobe Creative Suite 5.5 Design Premium
    Adobe Creative Suite 5.5 Design Standard
    Adobe Creative Suite 5.5 Web Premium
    Adobe Creative Suite 5.5 Production Premium
    or
    Adobe Creative Suite 5.5 Master Collection
    My adobe photoshop CS5 extended is downloaded as a single package from softarchive.net and so on InDesign CS5.5 is downloaded as a single package from softarchive.net.)
    When I click Edit > Creative Suite Color Settings... from Adobe Bridge an error message appears:
    Suite Color Management is not enabled.
    Suite Color Management requires that a qualifying product has been launched at least once to enable this feature.
    Can anyone help me?

    I believe Suite Color Management is only installed when you install one of the editions of the Adobe Creative Suite.
    You'll need go into Edit > Color Settings in Photoshop and in InDesign and use the same settings. That is, you'll have to do it more manually.

  • Printing to an Epson R2880 results in bad color (only from Adobe SW)

    I've had a nice workflow that I've used for years.  I'm sure many of you would find it a bit tedious and I won't go into the details of it, but the important part is that I always printed out of Photoshop (CS6 Extended - now at 13.0.3 - yes I have the stupid Trial window bug, but that's another matter).  My monitors are profiled (no custom printer profiles, but I've downloaded appropriate profiles from PixelGenius for those times when I've needed them, and with my color management my prints have been fairly accurate.  I use and Epson Stylus Photo R2880 and I've been very happy with it.  I mainly work on a 24" iMac (2009 vintage).  Recently I decided to change my workflow entirely based on some of the tutorial videos I've purchased from LL.  I decided I was ready to integrate much more LR into the workflow, especially now that it includes soft proofing.  Because of the new workflow I was really looking forward to printing out of LR.  That should more or less get you current.
    To date, I haven't printed with my new workflow and I'd say I haven't printed anything since 13.0.1 on PS and 4.1 on LR (not that I was printing from LR at the time).  Having not printed in a while I knew I'd need a head cleaning (sure enough I did) and, as is my habit, once the head was clean, I printed (from LR) a 4x6 of the image I planned on printing at a larger size.  It catches any lingering gunk after a cleaning.  The print just didn't look right to me (too dark and the colors were a little off).  I've encountered prints with bad colors once before and it turned out to be a driver issue.  In the process I found a great image that is indicative of some kind of problem and I keep both good and bad prints of it handy... just in case.  I decided to print this image, and sure enough it came out looking like the standard craptastic version I was getting with the bad driver ages ago.  Just to check out that it didn't have to do with my new process, I printed the same image from PS (which worked fine last time I printed this image).  It too came out all wrong (the same all wrong as LR).  Since the bad prints looked just like the old "bad driver" prints, I figured I knew what was going on and worked with Epson to reset my print pipeline and reinstall my printers (I also have a Workforce 845 for "throw away" printing and for my wife to use).
    With new installs for my printers in place I went ahead and printed again... and again it came out wrong.  I was, to say the least, despondent.  As a final sanity check I loaded the image up in Nikon Capture NX2 (version 2.3.1) and did a print.  All of a sudden the print came out perfect.  It matched my old "good" prints and, just as importantly, was a dead ringer for the image on the screen.  This is where I find myself.  Apparently color management is broken in my Adobe products, but works fine in my Nikon software.  I'm at a bit of a loss.  I'm 99.999999999% sure that I'm printing out of LR, and especially PS, correctly.  Anyone have any ideas?  I'd love to be able to print again.  Printing out of Capture NX2 is really not a great option.
    Thanks in advance,
    David

    I agree this whole issue is confusing. I have been on the issue (proper printer driver behavior and proper application behavior) using Apple's new print path for a few years now, so I will try to make an attempt to clear up as much confusion as possible.
    If drivers and applications are working (written) properly this is how it is supposed to work.
    When printer manages color is selected in an application print dialog then all functions of the printer driver are available.
    When applications manages color is selected then Color Matching is grayed out defaulted to ColorSync, and the property written print driver defaults to No Color Adjustment (Epson) or No Color Correction (Canon).
    See attached examples of both Epson 9600 driver version 8.19 and Canon iPF driver version 2.14.
    Epson can and has definitely gotten it right with their latest drivers.
    Canon on the other hand uses a special case file (AppColorMatchingInfo.xml) which list the applications that use Apple's new printing path. New application like Photoshop CS5 will need to be added to this file or the driver will default to color management when application manages color is chosen which results in double profiling.
    I see nothing that indicates to me that neither Apple or Adobe have problems or bugs in this printflow. Only drivers (and old drivers) that are not written correctly for Apple's new printing path seem to have these problems with double profiling. That being said, do I agree with Apple's approach regarding the new print path? NO. It appear to be an attempt to idiot proof printing using application manages color printing, although it is claimed to be necessary for 64-bit applications. I personally would prefer to use the old print path (like still available in Indesign) where all options are available in the driver regardless of what CM setting I choose in the application print dialog. But it is what it is.

  • Color variations from Adobe Illustrator CS5 to Acrobat 9 (PDF)

    I'm a new designer who is trying to solve issues of color variations when I create a PDF file from Illustrator CS5. Can anyone tell me what I need to do to ensure that the colors match from application to application? Do I need to select certain settings for RGB, CYMK, or other color libraries (i.e., Pantone)? Thanks for the help!

    If you are creating your PDF using Save As > PDF or Print > PDF; your selections in Illustrator's Color Settings should go with the file.  However, it could also be the settings you choose when you create the PDF.  I use Distiller where I can use the same settings from Illustrator and have them embedded in the PDF when distilled.  The key being that settings match when you create the PDF.

  • Color Management in Adobe Flash Player

    Is there any way to enable color management in Adobe Flash Player? I want to see color-managed-video on some sites that use Flash Player (like YouTube). I've looking for the solution anywhere, but happened not to found one. Any help would be appreciated.

    It looks like this is driven by the content and might be browser dependent - http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flash/quickstart/color_correction_as3.html
    However, I'd try disabling hardware acceleration to see if that makes a difference.  I wouldn't be surprised if using the GPU altered the way this works.
    How do I disable or enable hardware acceleration?

  • PDF file pages missing when viewed in Adobe Reader XI

    Hi All,
    I have been made aware of a recent issue when viewing scanned PDF files in Adobe Reader XI. Pages are missing when the PDF file is viewed in Adobe Reader v.11.0.x though all pages are visible when file is viewed in Adobe Reader 10.1.5?
    I can confirm I have checked Show large images option under Preferences -> Page -> Display, though this doesn't appear to have made a difference. I have been able to replicate this same issue on several other machines.
    All machines checked and tested are running Windows 7 (64-bit).

    Thank you.

    Never heard of such an issue.  Can you share such a PDF with the forum?  See http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1408375

    More details than that please. What file formats are these "cliparts", what color mode are they, are you placing them or pasting them? how are you "converting" to PDF, what PPD are you using?
    Is there any difference in the 4 pieces of "clipart" turned gray and the one that didn't.
