I am missing content in iTunes library. Where is it?

I have about 200 albums in iTunes. They appear on my iPad and iPhone, but only about 18 appear on my iMac. They are apparently in the cloud, but not appearing on my desktop. How can I get them back?

Solved ... found in "Compilations" folder :-) Never forget to check "part of compilation" for an album...

One way to identify the broken links in your library is to create this set of playlists:
Lost & Found playlists
Create a playlist called Found, select everything in Music and drag it into the Found playlist. Create a smart playlist called Lost matching All the rules Playlist is Music and Playlist is not Found. Your lost tracks will be in this playlist.
Or use iTunes Folder Watch and enable its option to check for dead tracks on startup.

It soundsl ike you are needing to copy your iTunes purchases to your computer rather than sync it at this point. You can use the following article to transfer your purchases with the following article:

Try assigning Queen as the Album Artist on the compilations in iTunes on your computer.

Yes you can drag and drop music to the iPiod if you select Manually Manage Music and Videos in iTunes.

Locating missing files in itunes library

Hello everyone,
I have an iTunes library with 177 days worth of music, and every now and then I try to play a track and a "!" appears, and I realize that some how I accidentally removed something from my iTunes Music folder at some point in the past.. So I go into time machine and find those files and recover them.
However, when I did this last, it alerted me that it relinked 2 of 160 missing files-- But I have no idea what the other 160 files are.
I did some googling, and found someone that gave a tip to find all the missing files in a library:
- create a playlist
- drag your entire library to the playlist
- create a smart playlist, and add everything that is not in the other playlist to it (this should give you a playlist of all missing files)
... I tried this approach, and dragging 177 days worth of music (over 11,000 tracks), I got the spinning color wheel.. Left the computer for a few hours thinking it just needed to process those... And I get "iTunes unexpectedly quit". I tried it a 2nd time, and got the same results.
Does anyone have any suggestions on what to do in this case?
Is 177 days of music / 11,000 files just an amount that is too much for iTunes to handle, or is there something else wrong here?

Missing Music in iTunes library

Hi,
I started up iTunes this evening and was just looking at my library list and there are a heap of recently added songs missing. I opened up a finder window and typed one of the missing songs name in to the search box and it located it in the iTunes folder. I double clicked the mp3 file and it maximised iTunes and started playing but I could not locate it in the library. I typed the songs name in the search box in the top right and the song, according to iTunes, was not there despite the track still playing. As I said this song was previously showing in iTunes and is not now. Can someone help me find out what is happening?

I suddenly only have purchased content in iTunes Library?

Wondering if anyone else with this issue. I opened iTunes Library and suddenly I only have purchased content in my library. All other media is gone? Any ideas?

Here's some additional info. When I go into my iTunes library via Windows Explorer and double click on a song, iTunes opens the song and plays it....and now I see it in my iTunes library. When I check the file properties, the path to the song is indeed to the proper library.
It's like 3,000+ songs all got deleted from iTunes, but not from the physical hard disk. Also missing are all of my playlists.

Problem loading content from iTunes library and Netflix

Everytime I try watching a TV episode, movie, or Netflix show, I get an error sign with loading the content. It's not restricted to Netflix and also includeds recently purchased and saved items through iTunes library. What can I do to resolve this problem?

This works no problem, home sharing is set up and I can see the itunes library under 'Computer' on the Apple TV interface. I can use the Apple Remote to scroll through and play content from my itunes. Works no problem.
Now I want to use the remote app on my ipad mini to control the apple tv. Using up to date app (Version 3.01) Again, everything looks like it should work. I have turned on Home Sharing on the remote app settings. It works fine and both my itunes library and Apple TV show up on the interface. I can touch the itunes icon and control the itunes on my computer and play music and video on my computer screen.
Now when I touch the apple tv icon I can't see my itunes library content to play on the apple tv. I see the below image. If I tap on the icon in the bottom left it takes me back to the screen in the first image. What is the strangest thing is that I can control the apple tv using the gestures interface! This isn't what I want though and I want to be able to see the itunes library on the screen of the ipad and play it on the apple tv. You can see in the video on this link (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UvEpgcE9KCs). This is what I am trying to do and I just don't understand why I don't get the screen seen at 1:25 in the video. Instead I get the screen seen in the below image. Any ideas? Album list for iPhone in iTunes is missing albums from iTunes library

There are albums which appear in my iTunes library but do not appear in the album list for my iPhone while it is connected to iTunes. The albums were recently added by being imported from a CD.
In iTunes, I click on my iPhone to open the menus and options related to syncing the iPhone. Then, I click the tab for music. There are four large boxes: Playlists, Artists, Genres, and Albums. The albums for the CD that I recently imported is not listed in that box. I cannot check the box to have it added to my iPhone.
To circumvent this, I went to my iTunes library, selected the albums, and dragged them over to my iPhone.
While the problem is solved, I don't understand why the album was not listed where it was "supposed" to be.

Sorry to learn your music lost, but let me be suspicious here; iTunes does not delete music by itself.
Given say that, you have lost music. First thing to verify is does your music is deleted from the iTunes Music Folder or is it just removed from the iTunes library.
You should do some search on your hardisk to see if you can actually found the music files. Depending of your iTunes setup, these files could be store at different location. Usually, they should be found in /User/Music/iTunes/iTunes Music/Artist Names. But your could use spotlight to do some research; tell us you could find on your disk any of your lost music!
Beside, there is also a feature in iTunes 7 that let you backup your music to disc if you have a DVD burner, it will take you a few minutes.
