Meanwhile there are some workarounds that can work for some headers (though, for footers, you're limited to page number).  See this in Print Preview:
You can set up extra Header Rows in your table and have them repeat on each printed page. The Table Name only shows on the first printed page, so you may want to uncheck Table Name before printing:
See this thread for an example of how this workaround worked for one user.

  • Header and footer are missing

    hello
header and footer are missing when printing, it has been there before but suddenly they are missing. I have windows 7 and printer is Canon MG6100 series.

    Hi,
Please see [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Problems_printing_web_pages this] for resetting printer preferences. You can also try to adjust the '''Margins & Header/Footer''' in '''File''' ('''Alt''' + '''F''') > '''Page Setup'''.

  • Customizing header and footer in the printed documentation

    Hi,
I'm using a trial version of RoboHelp 2007 and Word 2003.
I have two question about customizing the header and footer
    of the printed documentation.
In the printed documentation the footer repeat at the bottom
of each page and contain page numbers, which appear left-justified
on even-numbered pages and right-justified on odd-numbered pages.
How can I customize the footer, that pages numbers appear
    always right-justified?
In the printed documentation the header repeat at the top of
each page and are blank on the first page of sections. The name of
the manual appears on even-numbered pages, left-justified. The name
of the root chapter appears on odd-numbered pages, right-justified.
How can I customize the header, that
on every page the name of the root chapter and the name oft
the manual appears? Furhermore I want to include a picture in the
header. How can I realise this?

You can't from RH. See the article on my site.
Images in the header are tricky. If you use the setting that
I think enables that, you will also get the images in the TOC. Try
putting a two cell table and putting the heading in one and the
    image in another.

  • I have just updated to Pages 5.1 and now the templares which I have saved do not displat the header and footer which they were saved with in the previous version.  How can I have the header and footer included when I open a template?

I have just updated to Pages 5.1 and now the templares which I have saved do not displat the header and footer which they were saved with in the previous version.  How can I have the header and footer included when I open a template?

That is becuase Pages 5.1 has numerous unnounced surprises for the unwary user.  Among the surprises:
    - it strips out images from headers and footers without warning
    - it strips out bookmarks without wanring (yes, all those bookamrks you laboriously put into a document: poof! Gone.)
    - it strips out alternating left/right margins, without warning.
There are many more suprises, as you'll see from glancing through these discussions. They fall into two main categories: things that are present in version 4.3 but that are missing in 5.1, things like
    -mail merge
    -meaningful Applescript/Services support
    -non-contiguous text selection
    -ability to set defaul zoom
-ability to see comments while editing
    -ability to print comments
    -ability to read RTF files
-ability to drag in hyperlinked ted from a browser
These about about 90 other features are gone.
Then there are the bugs.  Hyperlinks do not reliably export to a PDF file any longer. There have been multiple problems with printing report. Some fonts place stray characters in the headers.  Many reports of the program crashing, courrupting files, etc.
Fortunately for you, the previous version of Pages is still on your system.  Export any documents you may have created or edited with Pages 5.1 (another great surprise: files created with version 5.1 cannot be read by any previous version of Pages: not just 4.3 but even 5.01!).  Then trash 5.1 and use 4.3 until (unless?) it is stable and has a reasonably robust feature set.

  • Header and Footer Not Displayed

I have created an rtf template and have a header and footer sections, but they are defined within the body with tags, e.g., <?template:header?> and <?end template?>. In the header section, for example, I then call <?call:header?> to display the header. When I preview the data in PDF from BI bublisher, everything is just fine. But, when I then register the template in Oracle Applications and run it as a concurrent program, the header and footer are not displayed at all in PDF output. It's as if the header and footer are totally being ignored. I even tried just putting plain text in the header and footer in the rtf template, but it's still being ignored. What could be the issue? I also tried increasing the header and footer margin area thinking that perhaps there's too much to display and I'm not giving enough space, but this didn't seem to help either. I'm working in a different instance as I have switched job. I have worked on other rtf templates and have integrated into Oracle Applications, but never run into this issue before. I've always been able to display header and footer. Could I need a patch of some sort or am I missing some setups that I'm not aware of?

Have you verified that the XML/BI publisher version that the server is running is the same version as what you are running on the desktop? Not sure if this will make a difference, but worth a check.
If they are the same, can you post the tags you are using exactly as they appear in your template?

  • Header and Footer

I do not understand the use of Header and Footer area, other than as a page margin. I can't put anything in them. Am I missing some additional function these area can provide?
    Thanks in advance. Tom

    hey tmskw!
so your question got me thinking... i know what the header is for (so i replied with the answer to you), but hey! i never use it at all!
    so here you go:
    http://web.mac.com/huy_huy
i updated my site with headers... and all inspired by you! if you really want to make your iweb site look professional i'd suggest you make a standard header that is the same for all your pages.
a footer can be used the same way and can lead to a very nice looking site also. if you do go for a footer graphic though i'd suggest you make your content area a fixed height (maybe about 500?) so that the footer graphic will be visible without scrolling.

  • Header and Footer Margins...

I don't think anybody has gotten headers and footers 'right' yet. They're painful.
Anyway, I've got a document with a footer: it's got some text and page numbers. I can see in the Inspector>Document that the margins for Headers and Footers are limited to the space from the top of the page (Header) and the space from the bottom of the page (footer).
The width of my document is 8.5" standard. Yet, my body text is sort of in the middle and is 6" wide. My document margin is at 1" from the right, so the text hits the 7.5" mark of the right-side of the page. I'm wondering how to get the footer over to the right past the 7.5" mark to the 8" mark. The reason I want to nudge it half an inch over to the right is that I've got some graphics that push out to the 8" mark. In my document, the widest graphics are still half an inch from either side. Thus, I've got half an inch padding on either side.
Doesn't seem to be anyway to format the margin of a footer/header in terms of the space of the text from the right side of the document.
I know there's 2 things I could do, but wondering about margins here for footers and headers.
    Solution 1:
Shrink graphics down to not go past the 7.5" mark.
    Solution 2:
Use text boxes for the footers and place exactly where I want. I can make 1 textbox and place it exactly on the page... where I want it. Then, I can copy that, and, paste it onto each page... it'll paste it in the exact spot where it was on the page that I copied it from, thereby negating the need to position each one.

Set your document margins in the Document Inspector to what you want for your header and footer, then set your text margins in the ruler by dragging the blue triangle.

  • After applying full scroll bar to the page including header and footer, Text editor ribbon actions cause page to automatically scroll down (while applying formatting)

After applying full scroll bar to the page including header and footer, I have provided content to
the page more than 100 lines and try to format the text from ribbon actions(format text area). On mouse over of font or fore color, the control jumps to the highlighted content area and not able to select the color. The page scrolls down and not able to click
    on any action.
    Consider this scenario also.
A content editor web part is added toward the bottom of the page.
Text is added to this (direct in the web part, not via a 'content link')
You highlight some text and go to the Markup Style dropdown...
Everything is fine until you hover over the "Paragraph" markup style, and suddenly the page scrolls to the web part you are editing, and you didn't have a chance
to click and apply the "Paragraph" formatting
I have tried testing this with text typed directly into the Content Editor, text pasted in from somewhere else, and text pasted in from somewhere else using "Paste as
Plaintext" option in the ribbon.  In each scenario, I get the same results.
Furthermore, I have also tested this in both IE8 and IE9 and get the same results.
I can get it to occur most regularly with trying to apply the Paragraph "Markup Style" but
I've also seen this happen with Font Size (any font size).  It's very frustrating since you aren't able to actually apply the formatting you need because the page jumps before you can click.  Has anyone experienced this before. Any feedback would
    help.

    Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that after applying full scroll bar to the page including header and footer, Text editor ribbon actions cause page to automatically scroll down (while applying formatting).
I try to apply full scroll bar to the page including header and footer, the ribbon is missing after I scroll down to the web part. And I cannot apply the "Paragraph" markup style to the content.
I recommend to use the SharePoint core styles to preserve the native functionality and GUI.
By design in SharePoint, the ribbon is always at the top. When you select the content, you can apply the "Paragraph" markup style in the ribbon.

  • Resetting Header and Footer in RTF templates

    Hi,
I developed an RTF template (template 1). This template contains start:body and end body for printing the header and footer in all pages. After printing this template then i have to call another template(template 2) from this. I called the template (template 2) using call statement. But the probelm is that the header and footer of template1 is printed in the output of template2 .
I dont want to print this header and footer for template 2. Can anyone please suggest me in doing this. I placed start:body and end body in the second template with the assumption that 1st template's header and footer will be overwritten. But if i preview then am getting the error
    Font Dir: C:\Program Files\Oracle\XML Publisher Desktop\Template Builder for Word\fonts
    Run XDO Start
    RTFProcessor setLocale: en-us
    FOProcessor setData: C:\Documents and Settings\kpoda\Desktop\Invoice Printing Efficiencies\Sample XML Data\Sample Output4.xml
    FOProcessor setLocale: en-us
    each
    Please sugget.
    Thanks

    Hi,
Do you have two templates (template1 & template2) that you want to display in the same document where the pages for template1 has one set of header and footers; and template2 has another set of header and footer?
If that is the case you can simply create a new section in your rtf template so you have section1 and section2.
In the body of section1 you call template1 and template2 in the body of section2.
You can then have different header and footers for the two templates in the same document.

  • Remove filename header and footer

Hello! When you open a HTML file in Acrobat it puts the path to the filename in the header and footer automatically. How can I remove this?
I went to Header/Footer and tried to update or remove, but it says there is no option. How do I do this?
In another issue, Is there any plugin that will let me "press enter" to move the body of text downwards in the PDF, similar to Microsoft Word? I imported a bunch of company listings from a HTML document and I am trying to space them out 3 to a page and I need to shift the body of text down to the next page break. Is this possible with Acrobat or an affordable program/plugin?
    Kind Regards,
    Kevin

Have you tried using the Touch Up Text tool for both of your issues?  Touch Up Text will not work in an automated way, but you can use it to manually edit existing text on the page.  Not sure about any plugins that remove headers/footers, although there might be a way in Acrobat's help files that outline how to prevent it from automatically embedding on converted HTML pages from web browsers.
