I am moving to the USA I have a 3 pin plug on my 85 w charger

Hi,
I'm moving to the US from Pakistan (our power is 220 volts like Europe). My charger has a 3 pin plug . Will the 3 pin work in America or do I need to get a converter plug? I also have a small two-pin plug lying around but I can't remember if this came with my new macbook pro or my previous macbook. It's just a plug- doesn't have a wire or anything - it does fit directly onto the magsafe power adapter but I don't want to use it if there might be a voltage issue when I get to the US. Is there any way I can try it out there safely?
my MagSafe specs:  frequency 50-60 Hz, single phase
line voltage 100-240
output voltage
16.5 V DC, 3.65 A

The power adapter places one-half of the line voltage on the computer chassis/case.  In Pakistan, and much of the world, the AC input line voltage is over 200VAC, and the voltage sensation can be annoying.  In the US, the AC input line voltage is 120VAC, and only 60VAC is placed on the case.  Very few people can sense that voltage level and, even without a grounded 3-prong AC plug, you probably won't feel anything.

  • I have a iPad and I am moving to the USA!

I have a iPad and I am moving to the USA! How can I get my iPad to get to the usa version so it's dollars and the American apps! Or do I need to buy one there? Because I went there on holiday and had my iPod but it was still in the English version and had pounds and not dollars, and also I wanted the app pandora but I could not find it while I was there. please help really don't want to restart my iPad! Thanks

When you are in the US update your billing address on your account to be your US address (or create a new account with your US billing address) and the store's should then show the US and prices will be in dollars. Changing country on an account : Change the country of your iTunes Store, App Store, iBooks Store, and Mac App Store account - Apple Support
Before you move there make sure that you have everything downloaded from the UK store (I'm assuming that you are here in the UK as you say pounds), and/or have copies of them in your computer's iTunes library or backup of your downloads/library, as whilst you are in the US you can only use the US store (you have to be in a country to use its store, including redownloading).

  • I have moved from the UK to the USA and have a new phone, I try to change my country location on the store and get an error message saying I have to cancel my itunes match and have a pass incomplete, any ideas?

I have moved from the UK to the USA and have a new phone, I try to change my country location on the store and get an error message saying I have to cancel my itunes match and also that I have a pass incomplete, any ideas how to fix and change the store. It is becoming a problem with getting some USA aps and content
    Thank you
    Tom

iTunes match is a subscription that you have in when you were still in the UK. According to the terms & conditions you'll need to wait for the susbcription to end before you can change your country to iTunes Store USA.

  • If I don't live in the USA I have to buy the Ipad from Verizon or AT

If I don't live in the USA, I have to buy the IPad 2 from Verizon or AT&T so I can use the 3G anywhere

The Verizon iPad will only work in the US, you will need to go with the AT&T version.

HELP!!! My ipod touch 4th generation is not charging! The cable that came with the ipod touch is not charging the itouch, I have to use an iphone 3's cable to charge. What should I do?!?!

Get a replacement cable. If still under warranty, Apple will replace the cable.

  • Moving to the USA from the UK with an unlocked iPhone - what options?

I currently have a UK iPhone 3GS on O2. The phone has been unlocked legitimately by O2 (i.e. Not jail broken). I am now relocating to the USA with my employer and want to obviously take and use my iPhone.
Since my phone is unlocked to any network I'm hoping I will be able to buy a 3G sim card from any provider (preferably T-Mobile) when I get to the USA and this should work when I put it in the iPhone and change the relevant settings - like apn.
If anyone has any experience of doing this or a link to some advice it'd be greatly appreciated.
    Many thanks for helping!

Ok, one of my problems is that when I arrive it will take me a few weeks to get a social security number and only t-mobile will give me a sim without a ssn - but edge for a few weeks will be better than no iPhone.
Unless someone out there can suggest an alternative?

  • If i have to change my Ipod in the USA i have to wait some days or is at the time?

Im from Argentina and in an Apple Store here, they told me that i should change my Ipod 5 because of a problem with the battery. But here we have some problems with the exportation so they said that its better if i have any friend who travel to the USA, and my cousin will go to Washington DC but just for a few days, so i wanna know if he will has to wait some days or if he will get it at the moment. PLEASE I NEED AN ANSWER!! Thanks!!

If you take it to an Apple store in the US, they will test the battery.  If it fails and the iPod is under warranty they will replace it on the spot with a refurbished identical model with a new battery.  If it is out-of-warranty, they will charge you $79 plus tax.  I recommend that your friend set up an appointment at the store to do this, either on-line or by phone.  He will probably need your Apple ID and Apple password (not your iPod password) to do this.

  • What does the red dot in the headphone jack have to do with my phone not holding a charge, my phone has never been wet.

My phone has never gotten wet. My phone doesnt hold a charge for more than about 3 hrs., so I brought it in to Verizon about the battery. The lady looks into the headphone jack and says it has a red dot its not under warranty any more. What does the headphone jack have to do with my battery.

The "red dot" is a moisture sensor. If it is red, then your phone did get wet, or was exposed to excessive moisture, which voids the warranty.  Liquid/moisture inside the phone can compromise or short out the electronics, causing excessive battery drain.

  • HT1384 Hi, I have an Ipod nano that I have had for about two years, but never used. I have finally got round to charging it, and whilst on charge I can turn it on and see the songs I have downloaded, but as soon as I take off charge it's dead and won't tu

Any thoughts? I've tried the reset thing, but the ipod is hust dead as soon as I take it off charge.

    Sure does!

  • I have an iphone and just moved to the USA from England. Now, when I get a text from an English friend that's programmed into my phone already, it will notify me with a text from "04499929292" (not the contact) w/ a blank message.

So when I get a message from a friend, just the number will pop up, not the name of the contact. And when I click on said notification, it takes me to an empty message. I can go back, open my messages again, and see the real message, but this is sort of a pain. And I've tried the basic things I can think of - I've tried adding +44 to the contact name and the exact same thing happens... I've tried adding just 0 before the number (like I did when I was in England), and nothing happens. I've also tried turning my phone off and on, and I have the same issue. Can anybody help with this? It's just a minor annoyance but I'd like to have my contact names in my text messages, not just numbers - then it takes me a while to figure out who they are!
    Thanks
    -H

That number is for an apple server in the UK that is used for iMessage activation.  A hidden SMS is snet to that number when you turn iMessage on and is used to verify your phone number.  I suggest you turn iMessage off.  In settings/phone turn on dial assist.  Check with your carrier to see if you can send an international SMS as you end that possibility to activate iMessage.  Rest your phone (Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the home button together until the apple logo appears (ignore the ON/OFF slider) then let both buttons go and wait for device to restart (no data will be lost).) then turn iMessage back on.

  • I am travelling in the USA and have an iPad mini, I would like utilise data for on the go but can not find a SIM card and prepaid provider unless I havs US credit card, I can get a ekit Global data plan but are expensive for frequent usage ? Options

    Does anyone have any options.

I have not used them, but you can try: http://mobileaccessusa.com/mifi_rent.html
I have successfully used comparable services like this in Europe. Google "MiFI rental USA". The advantage of using a MiFi device is that you can connect multiple devices at once - usually up to 5.

  • HT201328 Hello, my name is Caterina Taverna. I call the telstra online service in Melbourne Australia and asked for my phone to be unlocked.  I am now in the USA and have purchased a temporary sim card and cannot activate.  Asking for Activation Required.

This is now urgent as I need to have contact with my mother and nan who is very sick.

TJBUSMC1973 is correct. Back up your iPhone and then restore to factory settings. During set up you will be prompted to download and install Network Carrier Settings(this is the unlock).

  • Ever since moving to the cloud I have been unable to use the email account on my mac. I have now resolved the incoming mail issue but can't send anything unless I go to the cloud. My mac is too old to operate Lion.

Can anyone help[ me to reset the mail setting on my mac book. Ever since my move the icloud I can't send or receive mail from my account, only from icloud?
    Many thanks.
    Ian

    Greetings Ian,
Lion is required for iCloud which is a bit of information they tell you when you do the migration from MobileMe to iCloud: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4759
Because you are using an older version of OS X, Mail is attempting to talk to the old MobileMe mail servers when iCloud is on a different set of servers.
You will have to reconfigure Mail to use the new servers.
Go to Mail > Preferences > Accounts
Click on the MobileMe account listed on the left.
Go to Advanced and remove the check mark for "enable"
Click the plus sign at the bottom left and add a new account
Enter in your full @me.com e-mail address and then the password
Hold down the "option" key on your keyboard and click the "continue" button (this allows you to manually enter e-mail server information)
    For "account type" choose "IMAP"
Fill in the rest of the fields following http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4864
Assuming all your information is present and you can send and receive you can return to Mail > Preferences > Accounts and remove the old MobileMe account.
    Hope that helps.

  • European serial number not valid in the USA

    Hello everybody!
I had a licence for LR5 in Europe since february 2014, used it on my PC and now moved to the USA, buying a new PC.
When a want to install LR5 on it, I have an error telling that the serial number is not valid.
I contacted the direct service (by night here :p) and they gave me a procedure that could resolve my problem... BUT one link is always not found.
    Here is the procedure :
Sebastien: 1) Go to this adress but dont download anything :
    Sebastien: http://adobe.ly/SayOKG
Sebastien: 2) Kepp this window open a open a new one.
Sebastien: 3) In this new one, go to :
    Sebastien: http://trials2.adobe.com/AdobeProducts/LTRM/5/win32/Lightroom_5_LS11..7z
Sebastien: 4) A download start automatically, save it.
    .... (then many other steps)....
The link   "http://trials2.adobe.com/AdobeProducts/LTRM/5/win32/Lightroom_5_LS11..7z" shows me always "file not found" it?
Any idea to solve it?y many thanks in advance! I fear i should by a new serial number whose could not work too .....B
    B.brichart

I am going to guess that the link should end in .exe (one-dot-exe) rather than ..7z (two-dots-seven-z)—the two-dots are wrong for sure and there is an EXE not a 7z at that URL:
    http://trials2.adobe.com/AdobeProducts/LTRM/5/win32/Lightroom_5_LS11.exe
Once downloaded you can use the 7-ZIP application to extract the files from the EXE.
It is possible that the tech meant the following .7z URL which is for LR 5.5 and the Creative Cloud version not the serial-number-licensed version, but since you’re dealing with a serial-number-licensed version, hopefully not, it is the one URL that has a .7z on it:
    http://trials2.adobe.com/AdobeProducts/LTRM/5_5/win32/Lightroom_5_CCM_LS11.7z
