I am need to disable an auto start program on my iTunes on my mini Mac

Is there a way to have itunes delete the WMA file after creating mp3 copy?
No.  But after the MP3s are created and you are satisfied that things went OK, just delete the WMAs manually and say "Good Riddance."
You can use an MP3 in multiple players, but you need to turn off any features that automatically change or move files, since one player will change something that messes up the other:
In iTunes, that means go to Edit > Preferences > Advanced and uncheck "Keep..." and "Copy..."
In Windows Media Player, that means go to Tools > Options > Library, and uncheck everything that starts with a verb such as "Rename...," "Rearrange...," etc.

  • How to disable Skype auto-start on Windows 8 boot?

    Hi
I have a freshly installed Skype ver 7.2 on a freshly installed Windows 8.1 PC.
I did not allowed Skype to start itself on Windows startup. The corresponding option in settings is not checked.
    But it starts anyway.
How can I disable Skype on startup?

Hi, I had the same problem recently--trying to disable Skype's automatic start when I first log in to Windows 8.1--and this is what worked for me:
    1) Bring up the "Task Manager" window by pressing Ctrl + Shift + Esc all at the same time. (Or press Ctrl + Alt + Del at the same time then choose the "Task Manager" menu link.)
    2) Once the "Task Manager" window comes up, you'll see several tabs (Processes, Performance,...Details, Services) just one row below the top drop-down menu bar (File; Options; View).
    3) One of those tabs (on my version of Windows 8.1 it's the fourth tab from the left) reads "Start Up"
    4) Once you open the "Start Up" tab window, you'll see a list of installed programs that have either been "Enabled" or "Disabled" in terms of booting up when you first turn on your computer.
    5) Scroll down until you see "Skype" then highlight it with your cursor. If the line shows that this program is "Enabled" during start up (under the column "status"), then a button on the lower right of the window should read "disable." Click on it and you will see the "status" of Skype change to "Disabled."
The change should take effect for your next reboot. While your there, you can also disable any other (non-essential) programs to help speed up your computer's boot up process. Be careful what you disable, though, as some programs might be necessary for your computer's day-to-day functions!
    I hope that helps!

  • N97 disable off auto start on camera

    Hi,
Does anyone know how to stop the camera from automatically starting the picture app when you move the slider. I've found it to be a great way to crash my N97 when running another app!! That or stop the N97 from taking any pics until it gets reset.
If the camera is out the image mode can be easily started by pressing the shoot image button anyway so it might as well be disabled.
Ideas on disabling the app's autostart?

Humm yea i suppose leaving the camera perpetually open would have to be the solution. I havn't got any hints of scratches on my lens yet although this is after just over a week of use. Previous phones i've had havn't had a lens anyway. Just suppose a bit of cleaning every now and then will be needed!

  • Can I disable the auto start-up when I mount an external volume?

As iphoto seems to take an age to start up, I tend to suffer it only when I need to edit my library. However, every time I mount a volume (USB or memory stick) to transfer music files, iphoto starts up and I have to wait 5 mins for it to start, and 3 mins for it to close. Does anyone know a way to stop iphoto starting up automatically?

launch image capture (in your applications foldr) and in the preferences set the action when a camera is connected to "none"

  • How can I disable the auto start up of iphoto on my computer when I plug in my iphone?

Whenever i plug in my iphone 4s, my computer automatically opens iphoto. How do I disable it?

yeah that's what I used to do before I updated to snow leopard. Now it does not have the same menu options which is why I am asking.
It is not in image capture either.
Read the other forums on this topic, I don't seem to have those choices anymore.( general> connecting a camera) does not appear in window.
I cannot figure out where this is.

  • Disable terminal auto start

When I start my mac the terminal icon pop in into the dock. How can I configure that application (Terminal) as not to start running at computer start up?

I would check your Login Items in your Accounts preferences to see if there's an entry to launch Terminal. If so just select it and click on the Delete [-] button.

  • How to disable iHeartRadio Auto-Start on an iPhone 4s/iOS7?

Hello - I have a really annoying problem. It apparently has consistently happened through various iOS upgrades (see also Podcasts and this article) . Not sure why it hasn't been resolved.
If the iHeartRadio app is open, but I am not listening to it and I take a voice call or use the Voice-to-Text recognition, iHeartRadio will automatically start playing afterwards. This typically happens when headphones or a speaker (dock) are plugged in. However, it has also happened with just the phone by itself.
It is really annoying and does not seem to serve a purpose. The only workaround I have discovered is 'killing' iHeartRadio so it literally cannot restart.
Any suggestions on how to fix this? It seems like a bug to me.

Thanks for your replies everyone. I have contacted iheartradio as well regarding this issue.
I have updated all apps and have done the back up/restore from iTunes to no avail. I am not familiar with voice command/control in iheartradio.
Per my earlier post, this has been an issue for Apple before, in previous iOS iterations (in particular, Podcasts).
I have searched high and low for an answer which is why I posted here. I will update if I hear from iheartradio. I would be willing to be bed they say it's an Apple issue...

  • [Solved] systemd - Auto starting programs under specific tty

Is there any way to start a program on an empty tty?
Currently i run htop on tty11 and a log on tty12 using the default startup scripts with something like this,
    htop:2345:respawn:/usr/bin/htop -d=10 > /dev/tty11
I've tried played around with systemd for a while but can't get it working. There doesn't seem to any documentation for launching anything except additional gettys, so i tried to modify one of the .service file for htop but didn't make any progress.
Does anyone else know how to get this working?
    Thanks

Okay I figured out how to properly run services on systemd, here's the newest .service file
    [Unit]
    Description=htop on tty11
    After=dev-tty11.device systemd-user-sessions.service
    [Service]
    ExecStart=/usr/bin/htop -d=100 > /dev/tty11 < /dev/tty11
    Type=oneshot
    [Install]
    WantedBy=multi-user.target
And when running i get this
    systemctl status htop.service
    htop.service - htop on tty11
          Loaded: loaded (/lib/systemd/system/htop.service; enabled)
          Active: failed since Wed, 02 Nov 2011 02:57:08 -0500; 1s ago
         Process: 1452 ExecStart=/usr/bin/htop -d=100 > /dev/tty11 < /dev/tty11 (code=exited, status=1/FAILURE)
          CGroup: name=systemd:/system/htop.service

  • Want to change auto-start programs

    Hi everyone,
I want to control which programs automatically open when I start my mbp. I've tried finding the 'accounts' pane in system preferences but it is not there ('Bluetooth' is the top of the list when I sort it alphabetically).
Would appreciate any help, have looked all over the forums but can't find any solutions.
    Thanks guys!
    Rob

It sounds to me that you may be experiencing Lion's "resume" feature.
There is a checkbox in the shutdown/restart dialog window which controls whether currently open applications are to be re-opened at startup.

  • Need to disable auto sms

    Hi
Need to disable the auto forward of a single message to my 'contact list'. I have not done any change to the sysytem, except a change in my 'tariff plan'. Probelm triggered since then.
My contacts are telling that they are getting a same message, over and again.
Message starts as - Protect your Mobile with Mobitracker.
Then it gives some IMSI number as well as IMEI number.
Can somebody help me in disabling the same?

Although you would need to backup essential data, you could always reset device to "Out of box" state by keying in *#7370# followed by 12345 (default Nokia lock code unless altered by user). Just wondered whether change of tariff has been recognised by MobiTracker as change of SIM causing it to send out alert.

  • Disable auto-start

How do I disable Iphoto auto-start? I am referring to it detecting a camera or images on a storage device.  I do not use Iphoto or wish to.( OS 10.8, MacBook Air) in fact, can I just uninstall it without consequences to Aperture? Thanks!

From within iPhoto, go to the "iPhoto" menu and go to "Preferences."  Under "Connecting camera opens:" select "No application."  Now iPhoto should not launch when you plug in your camera.

  • How to prevent process from auto start?

In Windows 7, I type in MSConfig in the RUN, I can access a tab where I can see all the process that automatically start in the backgound when the computer starts. I can choose to disable which process I no longer want to auto start. Is there something like this in Mac OS X Lion?

  • Auto start LR on camera connect?

    Hi
When using Bridge it would auto-start when I connected my camera to my Mac, LR doesn't seem to follow this behaviour. It will open the import dialogue if LR is already running when I connect the camera. Is this normal behaviour?
Secondly, I can't find an option to delete files from the camera after importing them to LR as there is in Bridge, have I missed it or is it not there?
    Thanks

Configure in ImageCapture under Applications and check 'Show import dialog when a memory card is detected' under Import in Preferences.

  • Auto Start Disable

This is ridiculous. I shouldn't have to be a programmer to not have Adobe videos auto start as soon as the page opens on CNN or whatever.  At work I often want to have a moment. Or if there's a text story below, I want to read the story and not view the video at all.
WHY CAN'T I DISABLE AUTO START??

    Happy,
Your iMac (and Mac OS X) has excellent support for "multiple users". I would suggest reading up on the concept. Just click on Help in the Finder and search for "multiple users". Lots of information.
This way, your son can have IM launch at start up, while you won't even have access to it.
It will also prevent him from mucking up "your" computer with his "necessary" add-ons. For example, LimeWire.
