I am no longer able to create chapters in my Apple TV files

I am no longer able to create chapters in my Apple TV files. When I first started editing on the Mac (November 2009) I had a brand new iMac and Snow Leopard. With Snow Leopard came a 'special' version of QuickTime (QT X?) which were told not to update to 'Pro' (QT 7 Pro). My process was to use FCE with chapter markers to export my home videos to a QuickTime file. FCE created a beautiful .mov file with embedded visual chapters as I had marked them. It imported fine into iDVD. The next step was to 'Save As' within QuickTime and choose to save with the Apple TV profile. The .mov file would be converted and everything, including Chapters, would go with it. From Apple TV, I could peruse my home movies and dig deeper via chapters. Amazing and totally cool.
About 9 months ago, maybe a year, the chapters were no longer saving with the Apple TV format. This meant that each hour long home movie could not be accessed via chapters.
Was this functionality removed from QuickTime X? Is there any way to get it back? I am almost a year behind in my editing since I can no longer easily get the chapter markers in.

im glad that somebody is atleast trying. perhaps i need to be more clear.
i will step by step describe the issue in detail.
1) i open an email that contains an attachment .dxf or .pdf
2) i click on the attachment shown in the email and aprompt comes up asking if i want to open or save the attachment.
3) i select save. (by default it saves to a downloads folder. but i have also chosen to use other folders (when i did that it wouldnt save them)
4) i highlight the downloads arrow on the right top side of my browser and click it
5) it pulls down a list of the files that i USED to be able to click and drag onto my destop, or anyplace i chose
6) used to be when i clicked and held the left mouse button down on top of a file of my choosing it would highlight and as i began to drag, a ghost image would appear of the file i was dragging. showing a (/) symbol next to it showing i couldnt drop the file within the browser and a + simbol showing that i could drop the file when the file was hovering over a place where i could drop the file such as my desktop or other folder. now, when i click and hold on the file.... I DONT get anything. when i drag. nothing follows. while i am "dragging" in the area that is my browser, i get the pointy finger icon. as soon as i enter an area where i could have dropped the file as before, i get my standard cursor arrow.
its really as if the drag and drop feature just dosent work IN FIREFOX.
i can drag and drop files all day long everyplace else.

When I select a WAV file, song or album I bring up the menu and am offered, 'Create a WAV Version'. It is already a WAV file, why I would I want to create another. iTunes has always allowed exactly one import setting, and it applies both to CD ripping and to format conversion!
However, it is not that hard to change it and then change it back if you need a different setting for a different purpose, such as creating an ALAC version.

No longer able to create a new message window in Apple Mail

Please help! When I am in Apple Mail, I am no longer able to create a new message window (Command-N), and so cannot send any mail. This just started after the most recent OS update yesterday.

Have you tried
1. clicking on the New Message icon?
2. File menu / New Message?
I am trying to figure out if your problem is because Mail is not working, or whether it is a problem elsewhere, e.g. the keyboard.

No longer able to create cards in iPhoto?

I have previously been able to create cards in iPhot using photographs from my iPhoto library. I recently created a thank you card and went through the purchase process as I previously have done, however after entering my payment details the order process failed, iPhoto just kept telling me to try again but I always got the same result.
Since then I have not been able to create any new cards in iPhoto and I am unable to access any of the cards or calendars I have previously designed. Any previous cards are just blank when I click on them in iPhoto and when I attempt to create a new card, iPhoto lets me chose a design but WILL NOT let me add any photographs to the card?
Please help, I recently got married and my wife and I are desperate to send out the thank you cards to our guests and I do NOT wish to have to go to an online service like TruPrint! Thanks.

Try this, go to https://appleid.apple.com and see if updating security settings in "Manage my Accounts" corrects the problem.

WGM no longer able to create ACL

I have created some users and wanted to adjust ACL settings - but when I try to drag&drop a user into the ACL list, it just does not work.
Has anyone an idea where I can look ?
I even have removed all created users (maybe I had made a mistake there), but still the same. I'm not able to create a ACL.

I have solved the problem by myself:
ACL were not enabled, or better said, they were disabled for unknown reason.
I enabled it by opening WGM, tab "Sharing", "All", click at the volume and enabling "Enable disk quotas on this volume" and "Enable ACL on this volume".
But I ask me, why they were disabled ? Have I just missed to enable them overall (I try to configure two servers and so may have really mixed up things) ? I thought that both (quotas and ACL) are enabled by default, aren't ?
I tried to created some users via the WGM and got some error messages, may this be affiliated with ?
Can anyone explain the different permissions in my previous post of the /Users directories ? Here I'm quite sure that I haven't changed them, at least not without knowledge.

No longer able to create home directories

I'm having a slight problem here. Recently after adding some new users, with PHD activated I have been having problems creating home directories on the server.
If i am in local node I can create home directories, but once i switch over to LDAP/myserver home directories are no longer created ---> this leads to me no longer being able to sync homes or do anything.
Does anyone have any advice for me? I've deleted the users directory, created new ones, turned the ldap service off, restarted, turned it back on, restarted, added new users tested tested tested to no avail.
Any help would be appreciated.

My Woes continue :
So far I have reinstalled OSX server, re-set everything up for an OD master, dns ,afp ect. And I am still having issues with WGM to create home directories for my users. SO, i decided to create all my users and than type in terminal : createhomedir -s --> the end result no changes.
Next I tried
Createhomedir -b and voila I get all my home directories built. Fantastic. Or so I think. so i start to log all my PHD users in, everything seems good. Than i start a test, simply downloading a file to my desktop. I hit sync now. The sync window comes up, few conflicts but other than that everything looks great. I goto the users home directory on the server and no changes.
So where are my PHD's syncing to?
This is getting very frustrating because I am pretty sure nothing is being backed up anymore.

I saw the instruction of how to create an account without a credit card on the support website, but I can't create my account doesn't matter whether I use my laptop or my ipad.

I watched a video on how to make a no credit card account online, the system didn't stop him, so I wonder if we have to choose a credit card when creating an account now I have a point card but I can't use it now because of my account.....

Those instructions do still work, I used them yesterday in response to another thread and was able to download a free app with it. Are you currently in the country where that is account is based ? You need to be in a country to be able to use its store.

Epson V500 scanner no longer able to create "PDF" file.

Epson tech support advised there is a conflict between the scanner and Adobe PDF maker. Everything worked great up to about 5 days ago when everything stopped. Does Adobe have a "fix" or "patch" for this problem? Thank you

No longer able to sign in under real Apple ID--anyone know why?

Yesterday I tried signing in to the Support Communities on my recently purchased iPad 2 and when I entered my longstanding still valid Apple ID and PW I was switched to a screen that stated "We're sorry Your account could not be created due to system issues.Please contact Apple Support Communities with the information below to create your account"...followed by text boxes to enter a contact email and issue details. I entered my email and stated in the issues box that I was only trying to sign in with an existing Apple ID and PW,not create a new account and clicked the send box.
I have not received any email from support re this as of today. I was able to sign in to the discussions on my desktop Mac earlier this AM using my valid Apple ID and PW, but could not on my iPad.
Thinking this might be due to a less than robust PW I changed the PW and successfully updated in Mail and the App Store on both iPad and desktop Mac, but now I am unable to sign in to discussions on either device using the updated and valid ID and PW.
Since I have AppleCare for the iPad I contacted telephone support and was talked through creating this second Apple ID which I am using only to sign into discussions. I have received no answer to any of the several online form emails I have sent when my primary Apple ID/PW was not accepted to sign in to the support community forums.
I suspect this all has to do with the revolutionary reformat of the forums. I also suspect I am not the only one who finds the Apple ID/PW which works everywhere else is rejected by the forum. Other victims of this exclusion may simply not be able to post the problem (since one cannot post if one cannot sign in) and don't realize they can create an alternate Apple ID to post with.
Does anyone who CAN post have any explanation and/or solution to this, or am I condemned to use a back door sign in forever?

I just created this account so that I could post here. I also am a long time member of the discussions as "sactobob" and my Apple ID is working fine everyplace Apple except this new Communities deal and works from my iMac, my Air, my iPhone and my iPad. Almost everyday, I have tried and I just keep getting the "account could not be created due to system issues" message. Tried everything that anyone suggested. Even tried an old Apple ID.
And I have sent that form describing the problem at least 5 or 6 times with no response. Spent the last couple of hours with Apple support on the phone. They were just coming up with the same ideas like deleting cookies, clearing cache, etc...
This sounds to me like Apple is having database problems relative to validating our ID's for moving into the Communities from the old discussion forums. Does anyone know if they are working on the problem?

CME not creating custom SEP MacAddress .cnf.xml files, using XMLDefault.cnf.xml for phones

Hello, I have CME 8.6 installed on two 2851s and before going into production, I am testing a few phones.
One of my 2851's is creating cnf.xml files for each phone using SEP<Mac address>.cnf.xml and the other one will not and the phones keep booting up with XMLDefault.cnf.xml.
I've looked at both configurations and I can't see what the difference is. Other than not being able to create the SEP<MacAddress>.cnf.xml files, the phones appear to be loading up fine.
One difference I see is the "its" directory is located on system: on the one that creates the cnf files, and the "its" directory is located in flash on the one that doesn't, although I don't know how that matters.

Hello, and thanks for the good advice. I did try and added the cnf perphone command and ran no create cnf-files and then create cnf-files, but unfortunately its still not making them.
Also, from the other few CME installations I've seen, all of the information is in flash, but for some reason when I xtracted the tar for this CME, it's showing up in system: ? Could that be a problem? Here is what I see:

You need to use the old ID and password to delete the iCloud account. After you delete the old account, you can sign in with the new ID in iCloud.

When I import photos from Photostream into my iPhoto, it no longer organizes them into Events. I haven't been able to creat an Event since November 2013.

When I import photos from Photostream, iPhoto no longer organizes them into Events. Although I can organize my photos into old or newly created Albums, I haven't been able to create an Event since November 2013. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Flag the pic(s) and select the the Target Event and go Events -> Add Flagged Pics to Selected Event

i'm struggling with this. i don't see a way to drag a pic from photostream direct to an event. if i'm in photostream, i can drag a pic, but i can't see any individual event to drag it to. i can dump it in Events in the sidebar and drag to an event from there, but that's a bit clunky.
beats me why i can copy a pic in photostream, but iphoto won't allow me to paste in an event???

PHD no longer able to be created on workstation

Yesterday, I set up a MacBook and created a PHD. I target-moded an old PowerBook G4 so as to migrate (manually) some info from PBook to MBook. The Finder copies hung a few times (bad Firewire cable I presumed), so I stopped it.
I then restarted, and used Sys Pref. to delete the account. It was late and then I realized that I did not click Delete Immediately, and since it was going to take a long time to create the .dmg of the home folder, I decided to Force Quit (OK, I know ... dumb!).
Anyhow, I tried to again to set up to re-create PHD. When starting to sync, I cancelled, but the screen just goes Blue, and then back to login screen.
I've restarted a bunch of times, whereas once in a while, it goes straight to network home without trying to create PHD. I've also trashed some com.apple.MCX.plist files, and even cleared some MCX stuff from NetInfo manager.
At this point, I'd like to try anything else before re-installing the computer. Any ideas?

It's quite possible, but I find Optical drives far too short lived, & a CD Cleaning disc might cost half as much as a new Optical drive if you buy it at the wrong place!...

I can't get garageband to export! It keeps getting stuck at 'creating chapters' when I try to export my enhanced podcast. Please help!

I am trying to export my enhanced podcast through garageband. I have all the current updates. I am on my MacBookPro 10.6.8 2.3GHz with 8GB ram. My enhanced podcast (podcast with pictures) is about 80 mins long and I have tried exporting with everything from the lowest settings to the highest always with the same result. I have tried deleting GB preferences. I have tried repairing permissions to no avail.
I hit export to disk or send to itunes.
I select some AAC format I want (optimized for spoken podcast).
It slowly builds the mix, normalizes, and creates chapters (yeah, it goes through the creating chapters bar to completion)
Then it goes all candystripe on the creating chapters bar once it fills up and will hang forever (hung for 8 hours....pretty much sounds like 'forever' in my book).
Please help...I have my podcast sitting there waiting to be used....I have tried exporting smaller chunks (by moving the end of file bar) but that doesn't work either. Is there a way to just send the pictures and the picture start times over to imovie and work with it there? I'd much rather work with the tools that imovie has but man that program is just a PITA to use when you want to run through 100+ pictures for variable durations (whereas it's easy to just drag and drop with garageband as you do playback).
The file only has one stereo audio track!

Hi notmatthew, I have exactly the same problem as you. I am trying to export a podcast about iPod X Anniversary so I need to publish it next sunday.

I deleted the chapters one by one, exporting it each time, until it worked. i then replaced the image (which was a .jpg and i converted to .png) with that chapter and now it works.

Since upgrading to FaceTime 1.0.5 (170) I am no longer able to open the application on my MacBook Pro. I am using operation system OSX 10.6.8 and being presented with error message "You have been disconnected - an internal error occurred.

My problem opening FaceTime after the upgrade is now solved. I didn't pay enough attention when prompted to decide where to store the application upgrade and as a consequence the computer created another "Applications" folder within the existing one. When I subsequently clicked on the icon on the dock to open the application the computer couldn't find the software.
