Sir, your Apple ID can be used as an iCloud account as well. They are both the same thing.

Why don't you explain what happens when you try to delete these two apps that are showing that they need updates. You can only delete them if they are actually installEd on the iPad. Are they on the device?

You have 2 versions of Pages on your Mac.
Pages 5 is in your Applications folder.
Pages '09/'08 is in your Applications/iWork folder.
You are alternately opening the wrong versions.
Pages '09/'08 can not open Pages 5 files and you will get the warning that you need a newer version.
Pages 5/5.01 can not open Pages 5.1 files and you will get the warning that you need a newer version.
Pages 5.1 sometimes can not open its own files and you will get the warning that you need a newer version.
Pages 5 can open Pages '09 files but may damage/alter them. It can not open Pages '08 files at all.
Once opened and saved in Pages 5 the Pages '09 files can not be opened in Pages '09.
Anything that is saved to iCloud is also converted to Pages 5 files.
All Pages files no matter what version and incompatibility have the same extension .pages.
Pages 5 files are now only compatible with themselves on a very restricted set of hardware, software and Operating Systems and will not transfer correctly on any other server software than iCloud.
Apple has not only managed to confuse all its users, but also itself.

Some have managed to resolve the problem by cancelling the download, logging out of their App Store account and then logging back in again and starting over. The same approach also sometimes works for a stalled download:

Also, if you are connected via wifi, try connecting via ethernet cable if you are able to. It's a 5.3gb download and it seems the more reliable the connection is, the better.

Either wait it out or contact Asurion and complain. They sent you a used phone as JB said above. There is nothing anyone here or at Apple can do about it.

I have a iphone 4 which was purchased in the UK 2 yrs back. I use this phone in india. Since today morning the screen has become unresponsive and i am not able to use the slider to unlock the screen to be able to make or recieve calls or perform any other fuction on my phone. I spoke to apple customer care in india about this problem and they suggested to try restoring the phone which didnt work out. Now they say that I will have to get this repaired in the UK since apple doesnt have apple stores and service centers in India. I think it is some hardware issue. I am not in a position to send it back to UK since i dont have any friends or relatives there in the UK nor i am traveling to the UK at this point in time. Pls help me out and suggest how can i get my phone replaced in India.

When I bought IPhone for myself and my wife I decided to purchase the geek squad insurance.
The Best Buy employee who sold us the phones did not say anything about the insurance lasting 2 years, so I was under the impression that the insurance was good until I cancelled the insurance which I was no planning on doing.
So after paying $32.16 a month for 2 phones ($771.84/2Yr) I finally came to the point where I needed the insurance, so I called the geek squad and was told first that I no longer have insurance and second that it expired 3 day ago.
I was told that there was nothing I could do, and when I ask for a supervisor I was then told there was nothing they could do for me either. The person was really nice about it, but the way I feel is that I was never told about the insurance lasting 2 years only.
The 2 links below don't say anything about it being a 2 year insurance, and the only thing the 2nd link comes close to referring to is that your only limited to 3 claims in 24 month period.

I have purchased alot from Best Buy items and have alway purchased the insurance, and when I checked out I was always asked if I would like to purchace the 2 year insurance but this was not the case with the Phones.

While these plans can provide you coverage outside of the manufacturer warranty, all of our Geek Squad Protection plans have a set period of coverage, and eventually do expire. It is regrettable to hear that your Geek Squad Protection plan expired just before you found a need for it. Unfortunately, mobile phone plans are generally not able to be renewed or extended.
With that said, you may want to visit the store to see what other replacement options may be available to you. At 2 years since you received this phone, it is likely you are eligible for an upgrade with your carrier.

Why does "Check for Updates..." show that there are no updates available while I'm using Firefox 3.6.18 and latest version is 5.0.1?

First and foremost, I'd like to clarify that I hardly have any technical knowledge. So pardon me if this comes across as a silly question to the professionals. Here are the details pertaining to this problem as per the best of my limited knowledge:
I'm currently using Mozilla Firefox 3.6.18; previously it was 3.6.13. It was updated to 3.6.13 from 3.6.9 after I clicked on Check for Updates... and it told me that it'd be done when I reboot my system. When I restarted my PC, I was surprised to find that it was downloading the version 3.6.18. I didn't know how much it'd progressed in the process, so I let it finish it. After that, I disabled the option that enables it to download and update on its own, and turned it off. Next time when I started it, it was 3.6.18, but wasn't updating on its own anymore.
Now I wanna update it directly to the latest version 5.0.1. But when I leave it to "'''Automatically download and install the update'''" option under Tools>Options>Advanced>Update, it downloads and updates the versions as per their release order. So if I leave it to it, then when I start it next time, it'll start downloading the version next to 3.6.18 and update to it instead of updating directly to 5.0.1. It'll keep doing so until it reaches there. For reasons of my own, I don't like that. So I '''unchecked '''the "Automatically download and install the update" option and chose the "'''Ask me what I want to do'''" option (so that it doesn't keep repeating the "downloading and updating" process on its own every time I start my PC). Then I went to Firefox site and thought of downloading and updating to the latest version on my own. But then I was informed that if I do so, '''I'll get the latest version, but I'll lose all my saved bookmarks unless I follow some hectic procedure to save them and load them again after installing the latest version of Firefox'''. I don't want to let that happen either. So, can anyone suggest me a way out of this situation without losing my bookmarks?
Almost forgot. I tried several times by going to '''Help>Check For Updates...''', but every time it returned the same result: "There are no updates available. Firefox will check periodically for updates." How come no update is available while the version I'm using is 3.6.18 and the latest version is 5.0.1? I know that the bookmarks can be saved in a file and all, but I'd like to know if it's possible as it happened for my current version from previous version. (It downloaded and updated itself on its own, disturbing nothing, not even logged me out of certain accounts where I stay logged in. The only problem there was that it wasn't updating directly to the latest version.)

Thanks a lot for your swift response. And sorry if it was a bit too hectic to go through my detailed query (which I did because it was misunderstood when I asked previously). As I've mentioned above, I was informed that updating to 5.0.1 would '''require''' me to '''delete''' the current version and then install the new one. And doing so will involve losing all my bookmarks. I guess I should have been more specific and detailed there. By losing, I didn't mean losing them forever. I'm aware that they're secured in some place and deleting and installing the software doesn't harm its existence. What I meant that if I install the new version, I'd have to delete the old one. And after installing the new version, I'd have to transfer them (bookmarks) back from wherever they are. Get it? When it updated from 3.6.9 to 3.6.13, and from 3.6.13 to 3.6.18, I didn't need to follow that process. They were already present on their own.
BTW, I'm having no problems with 3.6.18 but after learning about the existence of version 5.0.1, I'm a bit too eager to lay my hands over it.

I have an ipad mini and the updates tab on appstore is not showing anything once i open it. It shows that there are three updates available but when i open it there is nothing. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

There are a number of other threads from people reporting a problem with a blank Updates tab in the App Store app - it looks like there is a problem at Apple's end which they need to fix.
Some posts are suggesting that you if you go into the Purchased tab in the App Store app you might be able to update the apps from there, though you will need to scroll through the list to find those with updates and individually update them.

Not able to use my Apple Remote with my 24" iMac

I have searched a little high and low for the resolution and it's still not working.
The Infrared receiver appears to show in System Profiler
I tested the remote by holding it in front of the iSight camera and it appears to have the light emitting from it.
I reset the PRAM, SMC and even tried a Safeboot and rebooted normally.
I tested in a different user account with other applications, and even went as far as creating a new user account. Nada. Front Row/iTunes other media players.
Before this is asked, I tried not 1, but 2 brand new 2032 batteries. That is not the case. What else can it be? Is there a plist somewhere that I cannot find? I tried also, disabling the sensor, then reenabling it to no avail.
I'm at my wits end.
This is on my 24" 2.66ghz iMac. The only software installed recently, was Boxee and VLC. This problem occurred before then.
Note: I tried this same remote on my 17" G5 iMac and worked immediately. So I know the remote works.

Kenichi, yes…in system preferences. The option to unpair was not available. The button remained "Pair". After repeated attempts, I gave up. The "disable infrared receiver" has alwahys remained unchecked. I checked it "to disable it", then unchecked it to (in a way, refresh the status of the infrared receiver) and to no avail.
