I am not receiving imessages to my phone number

Since moving to iOS 6 I have found that other iphone users are unable to send an iMessage to my phone number. If a message is sent to my email address, it appears on all my divices. If sent to my phone number, it goes nowhere so I am receiving SMS messages from other iphone users or their send is failing altogether. Even though I have set it up on my ipad to do so, iMessages sent to my phone number aren't coming up there either. I have tried a hard reset of the phone and turning imessage off, then on again.

    If I'm correct, as long as someone is logged into your Apple ID, they can receive your messages. If you think someone else is using your Apple ID, change your password.

    Hmm, that is strange that your phone number is greyed out. There are a few things that we can try. First would be to turn iMessages off, then back on. See if you are able to select your phone number. Then if that doesn't work, turn iMessages back off, then reset the network settings....settings>general>reset>reset network settings, this will reboot the phone. Don't worry, it won't delete anything from the phone, it simulates a battery pull. Once the device comes back on, then turn iMessages back on. Keep us posted if that works!

    I think you answered your own question.  If I read what your wrote correctly, you sent yourself a message to your phone number and you are wondering why it was not recieved on your iPad?  If that is what you wrote, the reason is your iPad is not a cell phone and messages sent to a cell number, will not be received on your iPad.  To send a message from your iPhone to your iPad using iMessage, you need to send the message to the email address you specified when you set up iMessage on your iPad.

    Are they saying that if you receive an iMessage from somebody else and they sent it to your mobile number, iMessage Mac will pick it up?
    Currently I can only receive iMessages that others send to my email address.

    Comcast Security Assurance manages email system security and should be able to help you with this. Call them at 1-888-565-4329 (from http://constantguard.comcast.net/dedicated-support/). They will probably want to know the IP address(es) and/or host name(s) of the sending email server(s).
    The first-line reps at CSA are sometimes not so helpful. If so, be persistent, and keep at them until you get a satisfactory answer.

    You should, but only from other iOS device users. The iPad doesn't do SMS .

    To my knowledge, I've only seen this for imessage only and not SMS.
    The other users would need to have send read receipts enabled on their phone.

    After upgrading to iOS 8 my iPhone 5s is not receiving iMessages from the rest of the family. My phone shows up green instead of blue on the other phones. I have tried all kinds of resets, turning off/on iMessages, etc. Nothing has worked so far. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

    - What happens when you try? Error message?
    - Is the email addrese listed on her iPod in Settings>Messages>Send and receive?
    - Is the same email address listed on your device in Settings>Messages>Send and Receive? If so it will not work.

    Do you think that apple has to   reset in their database of the old serial number attached with my phone number and that’s why I can´t activate imessage and facetime with my number in the new iphone 4s?? 

    I understand all of this Meg; that is why I bought an Iphone; but never expected my phone not even give a at least a 24 or even 12 hours....I work 12 hour shifts and also would expect to have to charge each night but not twice a day or more.  I am not always somewhere I can charge my phone.

    Both you and the recipient have to have active data connections, and both devices have to have iOS 5 or higher to be able to use iMessage. Also, they both have to have iMessage activated. If that is already the case, there is a possiblility that iMessage is down. It has gone up and down several times in the past week.   • My iMessage for some reason will not let me activate my phone number.

    I have had an iPhone 5 for almost a year now, and had not had any problems with it until about a month ago, when it suddenly stopped letting me send iMessages from my phone number. I have tried everything from turning iMessage on and off, to resetting my network settings, to doing a hard reset on my device. When I text friends, they recieve two different conversations - one from my phone number and one from my apple ID through iMessage, depending on if it was a text or iMessage. The option to choose my number from iMessage is there, but is greyed out and will not let me choose it, and any attempts to reset it just result in a "waiting for activation..." message that doesn't go anywhere. I have checked with my carrier, Verizon, and it is not something that is coming from their end...and from what I've seen, a lot of other users have been having this problem since the ios7 update. Is there any way to fix this?
