I am planing for Sun Certified Developer for Java Web Services (CX-310-220)

Hi,
I am planing for Sun Certified Developer for Java Web Services (CX-310-220) certification. Can anyone please provide me the resources for preparation?
Can anyone suggest me which books/author/publications best helps me to get good results in exam? Any books/author/publications available over internet to download and prepare?
regards
gaveesha

yes, that's the only decent book covering most of the exam curiculum (but NOT all of it, check the exam specs versus the book content to know what you are missing).
I'm working on the same material, and boy is it a lot...
Dry, boring stuff most of it.

  • Security-role for java web services developed using j-developer 10.1.2.1

I have developed a java web service using j-developer 10.1.2.1, I have deployed this web service to oracle 10g (10.1.2.1) application server successfully. Now I want to add security-role to my web service deployment descriptor so that only a group of users that belong to a group can access my web service.
How can I do this? Can any one please let me know.
    Thanks,
    SC.

    Hi.
I suspect you have a proxy server between your localhost and the
    drive-app1.drivesoftwaresolutions.com
Probably in Jdev that proxy is setup nicely in Tools->Preferences->Web Browser and Proxy
But maybe your OC4J container running BPEL on localhost does not have that proxy setup.
You need to add startup parameters to the JVM. In 10.1.3 you can do this via the "AS Control" administration pages (there is a link on the SOA suite welcome page). Go to JVM, click on the container and switch to the "Administration" tab.
The properties are proxySet, proxyHost, proxyPort and nonProxyHosts
When deploying from JDev, the compilation in JDev works fine (uses the proxy). But when the JAR is transferred to the server, it is compiled again. This fails because the proxy is not used on the server side and it cannot read the wsdl.

  • Where is the wscompile utility for Java Web Services Developer Pack 2.0?

Hi. I am running Ubuntu Linux 7.04. I downloaded and installed tomcat 5.0 for WSDP and then WSDP 2.0. I did so because I am trying to use the wscompile utility to generate the WSDL and JAX-RPC mapping files so that I can create a simple example web service. (It doesn't seem like I should need the tomcat container for this, but the installation was prompting for a web container, so I supplied one).
My problem is that there is no wscompile file anywhere in the installation. I have read some other posts, and it seems as though the utility should be there. I looked inside the /jsdp-shared/bin directory of the installation, but there is nothing there.
I ran locate wscompile and find wscompile*, but nothing shows up. What am I doing wrong?
    Thanks so much.

Just to clarify, when I said there is nothing in the /jsdp-shared/bin directory, I just meant that the wscompile utility that I am looking for is not there. There are multiple scripts in this directory. I also encountered no problems when I installed WSDP 2.0 via the gui screen.
    Thanks.

  • Namespace Error when generating Client Proxy for Java Web Service

    Hi.Experts:
When I want to generating a Client Proxy for my WSDL file created by JAVA,it seems that some namespace errors occur.
        The error like this:
        "Incorrect value: Unknown Namespace http://sql.java
        Exception of class CX_SLIB "
I checked all the SOAP runtime,it seems no error. So do I need to create the objects in the Integration Repository??If it is the truth, then how can I do it.
    Best Regards
    Martin Xie

    Hi Martin
I didn't find this options in SAP GUI Create -->Enterprise Service ->Consumer Service ->url/http
    Maybe my version is different.
You say that you can select the file ou url.
Did you select the file or url?
If was file, open this file, find the tag that you have the wrong namespace and eliminate this tag.
If was url, access this url, copy the xml and same in one file, then select this file in the step above.
I don't know if works, its only a suggestion.

  • The Best Java Web Services Technology for Developing Web Services

    Hi,
I am new to Web services world.
I read the java web services page . there are more than 6 technologies.
    JAX-WS,
    JAX-RPC,
    JAXB,
    SAAJ,
    JAXP,
    WSIT,
    XWS-Security
I went through several documents on web services.
I could not get a clear idea of which technolgy to use.
Which Java web service technology will be the best to develop web services independant of language, platform.
or is there any 3rd party implemetations available ? for rapid development of web services.
    Could anyone help me !.

Which Java web service technology will be the best
to develop web services independant of language,
    platform.
Java by nature is a cross-platform language, so if your focus is on the need for portability, the choisce of WS should not be a problem. However, each WS is best suited for paricular uses.
SAAJ, a low-level level API, offers much simplicity, but is not the first choice for programmers, as SOAP (Simple Object Access Protocol)messages need to be constructed piece by piece, making it a quite arduous code to program.
If you are not familiar with XML, your best bet would be to use JAX-RPC (Java API for XML-Remote Procedure Calls), as it hides the underlying detail from the programmer, in terms of SOAP and XML. The shortcoming with RPC-based WS is that it is "restricted to the local programming experience". Another failing is that assumes there is a network path- a reliability concern.
If your program will be contacting other services during downtimes, unlike JAX-RPC, JAXM is quite useful. However, your listing did not mention it, so I wont cover it.
JAXR is a client-side only API that acts as an interface between registries (not referring to JAXP)
I am not famiiar with JAXB, JAXP, WSIT or XWS-Security..
or is there any 3rd party implemetations available ?It depends on what platform you are used to. Assuming you are familiarized with the J2EE platform (now changed to Java EE SDK), the NetBeans IDE (either 5.5, 5.5.1 or the latest editiion) is quite useful. I am using 5.5.1, but have found that it is quite buggy, especially when adding WS operations, a core requirement of a WS. if you will be using to devlop a service for an immediate need, you may find the learning curve to be a bit high, in terms of getting to grips with how to use it. (Download link:
    http://www.netbeans.info/downloads/index.php)
The IBM Autonomic IDE (or AIDE), based on the WSDM standard, includes 3 sub-tools, icluding the IBM Manageability Endpoint Builder which, according to their website, allows individuals to build endpoints to allow manageability interface exposure; Manageable Resource Browser and the IBM Manageability Endpoint Simulator. However, I'm not familiar with this IDE. (Download link: http://www.alphaworks.ibm.com/tech/aide/download)
The .NET Framework uses the Visual Studio IDE. For an unbiased comparison of J2EE and the .NET Framework in terms of WS, see http://www.webservicesarchitect.com/content/articles/hanson01.asp.
Apache Axis2, Geronimo and JiBX allows fast development of WS, or so the creators profess.
The PHP environment- you could try NuSPHERE PHPed. According to one website, with it you can develop a web service in under an hour.
I hope this was useful to you.

  • Requirements for the development of ABAP web services...

Recently at TechEd in Vienna I saw a demo of the development of an ABAP service. It all looked fairly easy, so when I came back I decided to try it out for myself. However, this mission seems to be compromised by the development environment not playing along. I've tried to encapsulate a small RFC function module inside af service on an IDES ECC 6.0 system and that went fairly well until I wanted to test the service.
At some point it is understood that one should setup a reference to a J2EE system in the WSADMIN transaction and that caused me some troubles as it looks like the IDES system that I tried it on doesn't have a java stack. How could I check whether that is true? I then tried to test the service directly under maintain service within WSADMIN and it sends me a popup screen and asks me to logon. After logging on the browser claims an internal error has happened.
What do I do now? Where do I start to check if everything is setup the way it should be? Is there a note or a how to guide somewhere?
    Best regards,
    Anders

    Hello,
For creating and hosting ABAP web Services, you do not need JAVA stack. However, for testing Web Services using Web Service Navigator (from SOAMANAGER), you need J2EE stack.
If you are invoking Web Service from SOAPUI, .NET or some other third party tool, you need to create End Point for the service using SOAMANAGER and provide the Porttype WSDL to the third party system.
    Thanks,
    Venu

  • Need to auto-generate SDK for REST web service.

My company has developed a REST API for some web services, and we'd like to provide users with a Java SDK for consuming those services.
Our services are described by an XSD schema. On the backend, we are using JAXB to create Java classes corresponding to the schema. We create the request objects based on the parameters in the REST url, and JAXB converts our response objects from Java to XML.
We'd like to provide our users with similar Java classes on the client side. They should be able to create the object corresponding to the request, fill in various parameters, and submit it to our web service. The SDK should automatically convert the object into a REST URL, hit the URL with a Get, read the XML response, and convert that response into Java objects.
It seems like we should be able to auto-generate such an SDK based on our schema.
It seems like there are several tools for doing this for SOAP web services. For example, Apache Axis has Java2WSDL and WSDL2Java.
Can anyone recommend tools for creating client-side libraries for consuming RESTful web services? Does anyone have advice on products to avoid?

Replying to my own post here. The WADL2Java project on java.dev seems to be more like what I need. The only user-experience I've seen on the 'net is in this forum post:
    http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=5239123&tstart=0
    Anyone else used it?

  • Best Practice for Securing Web Services in the BPEL Workflow

What is the best practice for securing web services which are part of a larger service (a business process) and are defined through BPEL?
They are all deployed on the same oracle application server.
    Defining agent for each?
    Gateway for all?
    BPEL security extension?
The top level service that is defined as business process is secure itself through OWSM and username and passwords, but what is the best practice for security establishment for each low level services?
    Regards
    Farbod

It doesnt matter whether the service is invoked as part of your larger process or not, if it is performing any business critical operation then it should be secured.
The idea of SOA / designing services is to have the services available so that it can be orchestrated as part of any other business process.
Today you may have secured your parent services and tomorrow you could come up with a new service which may use one of the existing lower level services.
If all the services are in one Application server you can make the configuration/development environment lot easier by securing them using the Gateway.
Typical probelm with any gateway architecture is that the service is available without any security enforcement when accessed directly.
You can enforce rules at your network layer to allow access to the App server only from Gateway.
When you have the liberty to use OWSM or any other WS-Security products, i would stay away from any extensions. Two things to consider
The next BPEL developer in your project may not be aware of Security extensions
Centralizing Security enforcement will make your development and security operations as loosely coupled and addresses scalability.

  • Using Identity Management for Securing Web Services

My goal is to associate my services with an Oracle Internet Directory. I made some attempts to set up SAML authentication for the web services, but it didn't have the right outcome.
(My identity management server and OID is up and running and I have successfully made authentication modules for other web applications)
    Here is what I did:
    1. I wrote a simple java file, used jdeveloper tools to create and deploy it as a web service to OC4J. I associated an identity management server with this service through OC4J web tools as security provider.
    2. I made a data control for the web service and put it in an ADF application . (client)
    3. I deployed the client project(2) to OC4J.
I could use the web service through the page.
    Then
I secured the webservice to expect SAML for authentication.
Surprisingly, the client could still communicate with the webservice, Why? Shouldn't it have rejected the request because of the problem in SAML token? (The proxy and the data control were not secured, and didn't provide any SAML tokens)
    4.
I added login page to my client project (through ADF security wizard). It used idenity management for authentication successfully. login process completes and web service data control is displayed.
    5. I want the authentication information to be propagated through the page so that the web service receives the data and uses Identity Management.
    I know I should add <property name="oracle.security.wss.propagate.identity" value ="true"/>
to one of the configuration files, but don't know where exactly.

  • Best practice for consuming web services

    Hi
we are consuming web service in orchestration by "Add Generated Item".By using this option it creates 1 orch,1xsd file and some bindings.
we have different projects for schemas, maps and orchestration under our solution in visual studio.
Now i need to know that what will be the best practice for consuming web service in orchestration i mean in which project should i use "add generated item" (in orchstration project or in schemas project) coz it generates both 1 orch and 1
    schema.
    thanks

From a service orientation perspective you should abstract the service artifacts from the other artifacts. Otherwise it will be very difficult to update the service interface without affecting the other artifacts. For example you don't want to have to redeply
your entire application if only one field changes in the service you consume.
So I typically generate the items, remove the unnecessary stuff, and put them in a separate project.
Depending on the control you have over the services you want to consume, it would even be better to create another layer of abstraction. By that I mean create your own interface (schema) and map that one to the one the service exposes. This basically
is only necessary if you consume external services that are beyond your control. By abstracting the interface it exposes, you limit the impact of changes of that interface on the rest of your system. All changes are abstracted behind your own interface.
If you consume internal services, you can probably control the way the interface is defined. In a service oriented world all internal services expose a well known interface, based on the domain objects you have within your organisation.
