So this is a question far below the expertise of anyone here. But I need to know for sure. I am working in collaboration with colleague to produce a video. He is gone for a month and I would like to play around with what he has so far. I do not want to permanently do anything to his version however. So I just copied the folder that included all of the media files and everything into another area on the computer. I will be able to just edit my own version and not his right? It won't do anything to his version of the video if I open it from the area where I saved it right?

No. No. No. Now you've got duplicate media files taking up space for no good reason. What you ought to do (well, anyway what I'd do) is open his project and do a save as Projectname-tyler's copy.fcp Or create a new file of your own and copy the bins from his project to yours. Don't go cluttering up the drives with duplicate media.
Then you can play to your heart's content. FCP is a non-destructive editor. Once you capture a piece of media it stays unchanged on the computer until you delete it. FCP is more like an intelligent database that remembers your requests to do things to a piece of media-- start here, end there, put it in a box over this piece, apply a filter here and there, you get the idea. It's the project file that has all this information, not the folder with the media.

The minimum requirement for iCloud is Lion 10.7.5 (Mavericks preferred): the iCloud Preference Pane does not appear on earlier systems - the MobileMe pane appears on Lion and earlier but is now non-functional - you cannot now open or access a MobileMe account.

Kernel Panics! (I'm pretty sure I know the cause- but how do I fix it?)
Okay, so I installed a program called fkeys that changed my caps lock into some other key (supposed to be control, but seemed more like it was option). Eventually, though, I discovered that the caps lock key is not as useless as I thought, especially when I want to express extreme emotion while chatting.
So I tried to uninstall it. Apparently fkeys is a kernel extension (that came with many warnings before installation) that doesn't have an uninstaller. Well, I read the warnings, but uninstalling looked simple enough.
There is unfortunately no automagic uninstaller for fKeys yet. To uninstall fKeys, execute the following in an Xterm or Terminal window:
sudo kextunload -b com.kodachi.driver.fKeys
sudo rm -rf /System/Library/Extensions/fKeys.kext
sudo rm -f /System/Library/Extensions.kextcache
sudo kextcache -k /System/Library/Extensions
sudo rm -rf /Library/Receipts/fKeys.pkg
I mean, just cut and paste right? Well, what ends up happening is that the first command asks for my password. I do that, continue on with the next ones. Oddly enough, the next ones don't get me any response from terminal. So I try them a few more times (entering those commands in terminal). The second or so time that first command results in terminal telling me the driver can't be found.
Then I decide to try reinstalling it because it didn't seem like I uninstalled everything. So I try that, but the install doesn't work. I tried the other version... the install dmg doesn't even mount. So I decide to restart... and boom, kernel panic. (Unfortunately, I have experience with kernel panics from ram problems).

-I'm pretty sure this falls under "6.1. Assure drivers and kernel extensions for third-party hardware are current" from the xlab faq as this occurred from me trying to uninstall a kernel extension.
I don't have my install discs with me. When I get them, I'm planning to boot off of them... but what do I do from there?
Would I be able to uninstall the kernel extension? Or do I have to resort to a archive/install? Would that even fix it? Am I going to lose all my data? x_x

I'm surprised no one has tackled your problem. Maybe this will bump it to where someone more knowledgeable will see it. Anyway, I'd guess that the reason the Terminal commands after the first one "got no response" is that once you authenticate sudo, you're good for a limited time, so the rest of those lines ran without needing further authentication. But I don't know enough about those commands to know just what got hosed. Maybe someone who does could prescribe the correct micro-surgery.
When you get your disks, you could try booting to the disk (hold C key at the chime), and run Repair Disk from Utilities in the menus at upper left (don't go into the Installer). You want to get two consecutive "HD appears to be OK" reports. If that doesn't work, you are probably in for an Archive & Install. You shouldn't lose your data but it's best to be backed up. Similar to what your friend suggested, you could try connecting by FireWire to another Mac and booting into FireWire Target Disk Mode to pull your data off the disk before re-installing. I hope this is some small help-- good luck!

First, create a simple Environment Object, and call it whatever you like (key splitter is good). This is so you can send one midi stream ot both Transformers.
Cable this to the following two Transformers:
The first Transformer will FILTER all notes BELOW your set parameter, ie whatever note you decide. This is the TOP of the keyboard split. Hook this up to your first Audio Instrument channel. this would be the melody instrument.
The second transformer will FILTER all notes ABOVE your set parameter, ie whatever note you decide. this is the BOTTOM of the keyboard split.Hook this up to your second Audio Instrument channel. This would be the Bass instrument.
In the Arrange Page, create your two instruments, and then select the TRANSFORMERS as the Instruments to be active. In other words, you'll see in the Arrange page "Transformer #1, Transformer #2" instead of the actual instruments. This is so you can record through them, and then the VIs just playback the correct notes.'

The support I have had thus far on this topic has been more frustrating than help full. One experienced member admits that this is complicated not impossible.
I know through screen shots that the settings can be shown as this was what I saw in the original post to somebody else which drew me to pose my problem about transformer.
As before all I need is someone who knows Transformer and is confident in its workings. I have tried but I cannot make head nor tail it would be so much more easier if I could get help with this so then I would have a correct base for getting more confidence with tying other operations.
Cubase has a logical editor which works the same way I am coming from Cubase 3.1 from the Atari days and still I couldn't get my head around that and this was 1990. no matter how many books I read and believe me I have read quiet a few along with related manuals.

Here's what you can do:
Go to your Environment Layer.
Go to the "Click & Ports" Layer.
Create 2 new transformer objects, from the menu inside the layer window (not the main menu, but the one inside the window)
Connect both of these between the INPUT object, and the Sequencer object.
Now... you need to take out a notepad, and write down some settings.
On the first transformer, you will make it FILTER out ANY MIDI from channel 2. and pass all else.
On the second transformer, you will ONLY ALLOW MIDI data coming in from channel 2, and NOT ALLOW anything else to pass.
Instead of trying to get you a screenshot, please just open the environment and create an EMPTY new Layer, and call it "practise layer" or the like.
There create some new transformer objects, and FAMILIARIZE yourself with them. then you will be "transformer savvy"
They are actually very very useful object for dealing and routing MIDI of all sorts. And since you are now needing this, it would behoove you to learn to use this feature of Logic.
And no, it is not that I do not want to post screenshots, I am actually quite busy, and it would take me longer to have you learn through the forum, than for you to just do it. you need to stop fearing the environment, that's all...

I just noticed that ive got a really wasted virus :/
Its renaming all my files and folders to what lookes like Japanese characters, but because i havnt got a interpreter, they appear as those little block thingies. After its done renaming the folder, it declares it as empty, and when you try to open it, it says something about : "#Folder Path# is not accesible. The file or directory is corrupt and unreachable." Ive been watching it slowly spread, trying to scan and disinfect it with my Anti-Virus (F-Secure), but it wants nothing of the sort, coz it sees the folder as empty and skips the search. Ive already lost WEEKS of dowloaded material (Mostly Anime and music, but irresplacable none the less)
already, and im about to freak out. Any help would be very very very much appreciated. If you could direct me to a Anti-Virus that you think will solve the problem, that would be really cool. JanThere is no way to merge to the two accounts
Your choices are:
Talk to the technical support for the stores where you bought the books, and request redownloads for all of the content in one account, and make sure that you associate it with the other account.
Manage both accounts using different OS level users. - (wont work for Sony Readers) -

Have you tried working through this? Or did you just not understand it without trying? The instructions, while not explicit, are clear enough in principle. Work through it, and if there is anything you don't understand, post back for clarification. That way you might just become a little more environment savvy... -

We had a MacBook Pro stolen from our home when we were out of town and I am pretty sure we never activated the LoJack type of function on it not sure if its called lojack but you get what I am saying is there any way we can activate such hardware/app now so we can possibly recover our laptop? In my computer iTunes - home sharing is onI get this problem every day or two when trying to connect my ATV 2 running 5.1.1 to iTunes 11.0.1 on an iMac running OS X 10.8.2 (though it started happening with earlier releases of both ATV software and iTunes. I think it started happening regularly following the installation of the ATV 5.0 software, with I think iTunes 10.6 or thereabouts.) They're connected over WiFi via an Airport Extreme basestation.
The TV simply shows a black screen with:
'Could not connect to "<iTunes library name>"'. 'Make sure the computer is on the same network as your Apple TV , the iTunes version is up to date, and iTunes is running.'
I've found the way to fix this problem when it happens is to restart the Apple TV (Settings>General>Restart). This always seems to correct it and allows me to connect to iTunes successfully once again, but the problem always returns sooner or later and I've not been able to determine what triggers it exactly. It seems to happen more often if the iMac running iTunes has been put to sleep with iTunes running and subsequently woken, but it also happens sometimes when I wake ATV and try to connect it to a freshly booted iMac and newly launched iTunes.
I keep hoping a new release of ATV software will fix it but neither 5.1 nor 5.1.1 made any noticable difference and neither have newer releases of iTunes. -
The sound quality of my speaker suddenly got really poor when playing music or videos. Sounds like an old AM radio or Sputnik. Pretty sure it's hardware related but maybe not. Thoughts on what the problem might be and if it can be repaired?
The batterys the ipods come with are very sensetive somtimes they dont react right to the first couple of charges. Try fully charging it and then leaving it on until its completely drained a few times. If that doesnt work it might be a lemon.

Hello - I just had to replace the hard drive on my pc, and now my Outlook calendar and contacts won't sync to my iphone 5s. I ended up getting two hard drives (C and G), so I'm afraid that might have something to do with it - although I'm pretty sure Outlook files still live in the normal place on C. Itunes sync acts as if it's working, but nothing changes on my phone. Any ideas? Thanks!!

I have signed to up to iCloud and am pretty sure that all of my settings are turned on appropriately. However I get syncing from iCloud to my iMac and to my iPhone, but I am unable to get my iPhone to sync with the iCloud and most obviously calendar events, so that if adding an event on my iPone it never appears on my other hardware? Can anyone help me sort this out?

My iCloud account is set up with my Apple ID as one email account (for example [email protected]) which is the email account I use to sign up for internet sites like Amazon, Apple,etc, so that I can differentiate vendors/mass emails. But my default calendar on my iPhone is in a different email name (ie [email protected]) which I use for most communications to friends, relatives, etc. and it is this account that holds most of my appointments. To further complicate things I have other email accounts that I use for business/professional and community work. If I want all my calendars to show on my iPhone AND sync to my iCloud, do I set this at the phone level or the iCloud level? or both?
Let me clarify....It looks like if I go into appointments that I previously set up through my personal account (ie above [email protected]) and edit the entry on my iPhone, selecting the iCloud "home" calendar within the entry, it will then sync to my iCloud account, no problem....do I have to do this to EVERY entry I have? or is there a way to name my personal account as one to sync to iCloud? -
Ever since i plugged my iphone into the computer, all of my music has been messed up. The songs don't have the right album cover i guess they all just got mixed up somehow. i dont know but its annoying and im not sure how to fix it.
