I am replacing a motherboard on an hp pavilion dv 6700 laptop. what cpu is used on this motherboard?

HP Pavilion dv 6700.       Motherboard: 460901       S/N: CNF8262SDX        P/N: KL090AV.      Installing new motherboard. Old motherboard had gotten hot at CPU.  No operation with new 460901 motherboard. Could CPU be destroyed from the heat? If so, what are replacements for the Intel (5813A768  SLAYP          FF80577T8100       2.1013M800)

My friend, I was speaking with this chinese computer technician one day and he told me that in 1000's of repairs he has only ever see one fried CPU, so the chances of your being fried would be slim.
Having broken down a laptop once to upgrade the CPU (which I don't think I'll do again seeing how much of a pain in the &^*% it was), there could be many things that you either broke or didn't replace correctly seeing how fragile many of a laptops components are. Try checking to see if you put the CPU in right, I didn't the only time I did it.

    Hi:
Below is the link to the service manual for your notebook.
    http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c02642701.pdf
Supported wireless cards are listed in chapter 3 starting on page 24.
From the looks of it, you have a choice of the Atheros AR9280 802.11a/b/g/n 2x2 WiFi Adapter, or the
    Broadcom 4322 802.11a/b/g/n WLAN adapter.
You must only get one of the cards listed in the service manual and they MUST have the HP part # on them, or they WILL NOT work in your notebook.
Make sure you choose a card with the part # listed for your locale.

  • The spinning delay circle became an increasing experience, went into Apple store, they said my Hard Drive was bad, paid to replace it.  Problem is better but still persists.  What can I do at this point?

MacBook Pro 15" making me wait while circle spins.  Went to Apple Store, diagnosed a bad HD and replaced (HD is 65% full).  Spinning icon is less frequent but still a problem - what now?

more than likely it is your video card. If it is ATI 2600XT, tell it bye-bye. The card is barely used at all in TDM or Safe Boot Mode. The 2600 and Lion and the issues with that card, even if it seems okay, is not.
Depending on Windows OS as to how it mounts and sees your Lion HFSX (there is a nice HFSX driver from Paragon, and an NTFS driver for Lion too)
480GB SSD is overkill for any system unless you are pushing CS6 2-3GB images and then for scratch. All you need for a boot drive is about 100GB.
If you have an SSD now, then 1) you need to do a full image backup and restore (regularly as maintenance), and 2) TRIM Enabler
Save Lion and you can always do a clean Lion install w/o going back to SL - but you might want to keep SL (dual boot) and handy if you run into anything you still need that required PowerPC/Rosetta
FBDIMM RAM dies, Amazon has $32 kits of 4GB. And having all 8 DIMM slots filled improves things. If you need or want to and feel 16GB isn't overkill.
SSD and issues are always possible. you should not just go along. not without a clone image. And you should have another drive w/ TRIM Enabler so that you can do a repair and "trim" what is needed.
Clone a system with CCC regularly. Bootable. And can also be used by Setup Assistant.
Install Lion over a heavily used SL system and there are likely remnants of old things that get in the way and left in there and not removed.

  • CQ61 Laptop - I think I have broken my motherboard

    Hi,
I took my CQ61-222SA notebook apart yesterday in order to clean the fan and reapply thermal paste to the cpu.
Everything seemed to go well and it all went back together fine. However, there now appears to be a problem with the motherboard. Windows will not fully load and just hangs. Linux installations will only load so far and then hang when trying to get a certain device loaded.
On  the rare occasion that windows or linux will load, there is no audio at all. And by that I mean that it doesn't even detect any audio device. There isn't even a sound section on the device manager on windows.
I have clearly done something, but what?
I took it apart again and cleaned the motherboard with alcohol, in case any thermal paste had got on my fingers and transferred to the motherboard. It has made no difference.
Every cable has been triple checked and is in good condition and properly plugged into the motherboard. When windows does load, everything works except the sound.
This is so annoying. I only opened it up to stop it over heating and that has worked a treat. I was delighted that I had managed to get my laptop like new again and now this has happened. Without sound it is useless to me and I am going to have to buy a new laptop or at least a new motherboard.
Any ideas?  What could I have done?

    Hello pdoherty76.
I see that you're having an issue with your Notebook after trying to clean it. Based on the what you've post indicates, there is a potential hardware failure going.
I would recommend contacting support for possible repair/replacement options.

My hard drive fried and had to be replaced. I'm trying to install CS4 from my original discs but keep getting this error message - "One or more of the required components of Adobe Creative Suite 4 Design Standard failed to install correctly". A customer service rep gave me a link to download off the Adobe site, but when I try to open the file to run it, I get this error message - "A problem occurred extracting the archive".
    Can anyone help?

Yep.  Nothing happens at all. Windows tries to execute the uninstaller, but I don't get any other screen and all activity stops for the MSI.  I monitored it in Process Monitor and the MSI executable appears, but is quickly ended, like it couldn't find anything or something.
It's as if windows has a blank entry in Programs and Features, because it used to show the size of the Adobe application in the "Size" column.  Now it's just blank.  Link to screenshot below:
    http://img829.imageshack.us/img829/5006/screenshotcaf.jpg
Note the install date.  That's when I was able to successfully reinstall it.  Now I can't even do that.  I should also mention I tried Revo Uninstaller.  It deleted one small registry key, but nothing changed.
By the way, is the CS cleaner supposed to ask for a disc in the drive when you run it?  It refused to run unless I had one in it, so I used my install dvd.

  • I am attempting to replace a failed hard drive on a F500 Vista laptop. I have a home premium recover

I am attempting to replace a failed hard drive on a F500 Vista laptop. I have a home premium recovery DVD (1 of 1) and It runs the recovery after a while of loading, and it creates a 24GB partion and loads about 2.6Gb of information on it. the it ejects the disc and asks if I have any suplimental disks, which I don't have. Then it reboots it's self and cycles through reboots for 5 hours, yes I let it do this for 5 hours as the HP site says it could take several hours.
After this I finally shut down the computer and loaded the hard drive in an ext case and retrieved the above information. I also note that the 250GB drive is shown as a 24GB drive, so I guess it hasn't completed the partions?
I never get to a Vista window.
This hard drive does pass the laptop's Bios hard drive check (the former 80GB drive did NOT) and was used to store Old Time Radio shows, until I went to a larger drive.
The Laptop has a dual core Athlon TK-53 processor and the recovery disc is for 32 bit Vista (and the label in front and license on back don't state Vista 64, just Vista)
So, Do I need a Vista 64 recovery disc? Should I download the available driver on the HP site and slap in that disc when the Recovery disc finishes and asks for supplimental discs? Might thngs indicate other issues with the laptop?
I've loaded from scratch XP several times, but this is my 1st Vista experience. Thank you for any help!

Okay. So I was able to install, and format the new internal HD. Was able to install Lion then Mavericks.  Next, is to try to retrieve my data from my failing old HD.  I bought an enclosure (sled), and have my HD hooked up to my laptop, and it finally showed up in Finder.  So.  Now.  What is next?  I am seeing a screen that shows these folders:  Applications (translate for the PC me = Programs), Library (I am assuming?? these are my various files such as docs, photos, music, etc.) System, opt, and Users.  Should I just try to drag and drop some/all of the folders onto my desktop, then open up the folders and do something with the contents?  Sorry to sound so vague and frankly, rather dumb-sounding, but the nomenclature with a Mac is a bit different than with a PC, and Finder is a little different looking to me than Windows Explorer.  I am relieved to see that I was even able to get this failing drive to show up in the first place, so I feel a little like I could be on borrowed time with it.  I think it may just be bad sectors, since I don't hear any clicking or other mechanical issues with the drive as it spins.  But, any further help with retrieving the data would be VERY much appreciated!!

Hello i am looking to replace my faulty 500 gig 7200rpm sata hard drive (WD504AV) , with one that is compatible with the hp pavilion dm4 1150ea laptop, i am using windows 7 home premium, do i need the same make and model or can i choose any 500 gig hard drive. Many Thanks in Advance.

    Hi,
You free to choose the make of HDD ( and you could install a 750Gb HDD - see maintenance guide below ), but as an example, the drives on the link below would be fine for your notebook.
    500Gb Hard Drive
    750Gb Hard Drive
The procedure to replace the Hard Drive starts on Page 57 of your Maintenance & Service Guide.
Once done, simply use your Recovery DVDs to reinstall the Operating System on the new drive.
If you don't have your Recovery Discs, youcan order a replacement set using the link below.

  • Can I Replace a Keyboard(Non-Backlit) with a Backlit Keyboard in my HP Pavilion 17-e119wm Laptop?

Hey guys, my name is Armando
I bought this laptop back in April -->http://www.walmart.com/ip/HP-Anodized-Silver-17.3-Pavilion-17-e119wm-Laptop-PC-with-AMD-A10-5750M-Qu...
cause my old HP laptop had too many problems. Anyway I was wondering if this laptop in the link can change its regular keyboard for a LED backlit keyboard instead cause I usually find my self using it in the dark most of the time and the keyboard gets hard to see in the dark. So I was wondering if you guys would know if it can be upgraded. ( it would be helpful for me playing games on Steam in the night)

    Hi
    No Armando.
There is no ZIF connector for it in the board, so basically you've to change the whole motherboard & I don't see any compatible boards with that function.

  • Yosemite is awful- unable to empty trash, volume options are haywire, error codes on file management, and files won't replace when moved. What are my options at this point?

Like the topic - "Yosemite is awful- unable to empty trash, volume options are haywire, error codes on file management, and files won't replace when moved. What are my options at this point?"
I installed this OS, and it looks nice, but it's terrible to use. I randomly have the volume controls get disabled, and sometimes the volume menu in the system tray does nothing when adjusted which I've never seen in an OS before. The trash won't empty. When I try to drag and drop newer files over existing ones, nothing happens. The old ones just stay there. I have to delete the old ones and then move the new ones. And when I go into the protected files to manage audio plugins (I make music), the first thing I hit are error codes galore, and password prompts that either don't popup when they should, or don't execute the command after I provide my password.
What can I do now that I installed the flames of **** onto my computer?

Back up all data before proceeding.
This procedure will unlock all your user files (not system files) and reset their ownership, permissions, and access controls to the default. If you've intentionally set special values for those attributes on any of your files, they will be reverted. In that case, either stop here, or be prepared to recreate the settings if necessary. Do so only after verifying that those settings didn't cause the problem. If none of this is meaningful to you, you don't need to worry about it, but you do need to follow the instructions below.
    Step 1
If you have more than one user, and the one in question is not an administrator, then go to Step 2.
Triple-click anywhere in the following line on this page to select it:
    sudo find ~ $TMPDIR.. -exec chflags -h nouchg,nouappnd,noschg,nosappnd {} + -exec chown -h $UID {} + -exec chmod +rw {} + -exec chmod -h -N {} + -type d -exec chmod -h +x {} + 2>&-
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window by pressing command-V. I've tested these instructions only with the Safari web browser. If you use another browser, you may have to press the return key after pasting.
You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before you can run the command. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
The command may take several minutes to run, depending on how many files you have. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign ($) to appear, then quit Terminal.
    Step 2 (optional)
Take this step only if you have trouble with Step 1, if you prefer not to take it, or if it doesn't solve the problem.
Start up in Recovery mode. When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select
              Utilities ▹ Terminal
from the menu bar. A Terminal window will open. In that window, type this:
    resetp
Press the tab key. The partial command you typed will automatically be completed to this:
    resetpassword
Press return. A Reset Password window will open. You’re not going to reset a password.
Select your startup volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name) if not already selected.
Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if not already selected.
Under Reset Home Directory Permissions and ACLs, click the Reset button.
    Select
               ▹ Restart
    from the menu bar.

  • No imformation about this motherboard available?

Hi Forum, my first post here,
I am diagnosing a fault with a MEDION PC MT6 computer (type: MT188) and I am trying to download a motherboard manual, but the MSI archive does not list this motherboard. It is a 2004 computer and written on the motherboard is MICROSTAR FC MS-6747 VER 1 N1996.
I have googled this and find quite a few others have the same problem. However one forum I searched on says that the serial no. for this motherboard has changed to:
MSI 650 GM-L. Does anyone know if this is true?
I have downloaded the manual for the 650 GM-L, but don't have the computer here yet to compare it. The computer won't load its BIOS at the moment, but the CPU fan is still running. If I have to fit a PSU, I will need to know if the motherboard supports full ATX or only micro.
The computer has a pentium 4, 2.8 Ghz processor and 512 Mb of RAM and 533 Mhz FSB and running 32 bit Windows XP.
Thank you in advance for any help.

I'm sorry, but we can only offer support for MSI retail products--not for OEMs.

I believe that by your action, you removed the compatability VIs and it would appear that the Find Examples used the older queue functions that require the compatability VIs. I would suggest you revert back to the LLBs that were distributed with 6.1. The new queue functions are there for you to use in new development and older VIs won't be broken. You could also make a request to NI support to see about an updated Find Example that uses just the new VIs.

  • When I open a new site, it replaces a current tab instead of creating a new tab -- what should I do to correct this problem?

Until today, whenever I went to a new website, a new tab would be created on the toolbar. Today, everytime I open a new site, it replaces a current tab with a tab for the new site.

Are you using a bookmark? There is a little-known feature of bookmarks that can load them in Firefox's sidebar. This allows you to work with two pages side-by-side. To change that setting, right-click the bookmark > Properties, then uncheck the box for "Load this bookmark in the sidebar".
(You probably didn't set this yourself. If you use a link on a website to have the site add a bookmark to Firefox, due to restrictions on what sites can do, those will always be targeted toward the sidebar.)
If that's not it, have you noticed any pattern in when this happens?

  • Can you identify this motherboard?

I've spent several hours reading through all the tech support docs I could find, but I'm still not sure which motherboard I have for sure.  Here is what I know:
--The motherboard has "K7T TURBO VER 3.0" stamped on it.
--There is a sticker on the VT82C686 chipset chip that says: "MS-6330 MS-LITE"
--The two Raid connectors and the J17 jumper (J17 = FSB jumper) were never soldered on!  The soldering connections are there, and they're labeled correctly, but the connectors themselves were never attached.  The K7T TURBO is supposed to have those connectors, and the motherboard manual assumes you can change the FSB using jumper J17.
--I have the latest BIOS installed (Award version 3.6 for K7T TURBO), but the only options on the Frequency/Voltage Control page in CMOS are "Auto Detected DIMM/PCI Clk" and "Spread Spectrum Modulated".  The motherboard manual for K7T TURBO states there should also be settings there to control the CPU Voltage and CPU/Clock ratio, etc.
--Yesterday I installed a new Athlon XP (Palomino) 1800+ CPU.  This CPU is supposed to run at 1.53 GHz, but the motherboard runs it at 1150 MHz, and I can't find a way to make it run faster.  The K7T Turbo board is supposed to allow it to run at 1.5 GHz.
I'm starting to think I have a prototype K7T Turbo board with a dumbed-down chipset, essentially making it equal to the MS-6330 "Lite" version (which, BTW, only runs as fast as 1.2 GHz... but it's not supposed to allow Athlon XP's to run either, so go figure...).  Of course there's no mention of a hybrid board like this anywhere I can find.
Anyone have a clue what's going on with my motherboard?  I'd like to get that CPU to run at 1.5 GHz instead of 1150 MHz because it's being used as a server.

Yes, I think that's my board, but without the optional RAID IDE connectors (the blue connectors in the lower left).
BUT, the BIOS doesn't have the same options as what the motherboard manual says, and it doesn't allow my 1800+ Athlon XP cpu to go higher than 1150 MHz; I should be getting about 1530 MHz.  The cpu/clock options in BIOS are missing, so I can't set the CPU/clock ratio to 11.5 (133 FSB x 11.5 ratio = ~1530 MHz).  And YES I do have the latest BIOS (Award ver. 3.6).
Plus the J17 jumper for FSB is not soldered on.
So again, it looks like a dumbed down K7T TURBO with an MS-LITE controller instead of the regular controller.
As a follow-up from yesterday, I was going to try turning the "High System Performance" option in BIOS on.  But unfortunately there IS NO option called that, even though the MB manual says there is.  So go figure.
I sent an email to MSI tech support, haven't heard back yet.  I may need to call them and talk to someone up their chain a bit before I find an answer.
Thanks for all the help everyone!
