There's a lot of that going around lately (hard drive crashes). Sorry to hear that!
It sounds like you've reached the maximum activations allowed, and because your hard drive crashed, of course you can't deactivate the copy that was installed there. But don't worry--Customer Care should be able to take care of that deactivation for you. Please Contact Customer Care.

If you are using Safari as a web browser :-
Open Safari, go to Safari menu > Preferences > General, and put Google as the homepage. Then, choose Google as your default search engine.
If you are using Google Chrome as the web browser :-
Open Google Chrome.
In the top right corner of the page, click the Chrome menu Chrome menu > Settings.
In the "Search" section, select Google from the drop-down menu.

Apple iMac 3.5GHz late 2013 / Mavericks 10.9.2
Application crashes without warning. Symptom: Drop down boxes go blank white (I shot screen captures of blank drop down boxes) and application stops working, actions for appox. 10 minutes preceding crash are lost. Force Quit required to quit unresponsive / frozen application and then Restart of Adobe Photoshop CC
Crash Frequency: Three time in this work day, 5.6.14 Once a day sporadically (approximately 10 times) in past two weeks.
Other applications running at time of crashes: Adobe Bridge - NOT effected. Computer was on line with no browsers open.
Otherwise computer continued to operate normally.
I have been using Adobe Photoshop CC for approximately two months.

I did in deed submit a homemade crash report.
I would have submitted "an actual Crash Report " and sooner, but: When this event occurs. there are NO dialog boxes. All frozen / blank. No possibility of "actual crash report" !

Garageband w/ Mbox 2 Pro help please. Can we record in stereo? Should we buy a different interface?

Hello all and thanks in advance for trying to help. I'll try to give all the details straight up so I can get direct answers. I appreciate your help.
(By the way this is my first post in the comunity so forgive me if I do something wrong).
The long story short:
- I sing in a 3 person chorus group in Japan.
- We recieved a Digidesign Mbox2 Pro from our manager. (She was told by an engineer in our production agency that we should be able to record easily with it)
- We recieved the MBox 2 Pro itself ONLY. No cords, no software, just the actual interfact itself.
- We bought: 1 Dynamic mic, 1 mic stand, 2 headphone adapter jacks, Stereo speakers, & 1 firewire cord to connect the Mbox2 to the Macbook.
- We could not find an AC power adapter of the right size, so we have no power adapter. The only power going through the Mbox is power coming from the Mac itself.
- We do not have an instruction manual or anything, therefor we don't have the product number or whatever we need to register the interface.
- We can't register, so we can not call the Avid company help center.
- We don't own Pro Tool software. We are using Garageband.
- We downloaded drivers for the Mbox2 online.
I think that covers it all.
Now, we finally have everything connected and the Mbox2 is working with Garageband. We can record but now the real problem is that when we playback what we've recorded through our speakers the vocal tracks only play through the LEFT speaker. The audio track and echo effect from the vocal tracks play from both speakers, but the actual recordings of our voices only playback through the left speakers.
What do we do now?
Is there something we can do to make it so that we are able to record in Stereo?
Should we look into starting from scratch and buying our own audio interface system? If so do you have any reccommendations?
Other points of interest (that may help):
- None of us play instruments so we won't be connecting a guitar to the interface or anything.
-We each have a Macbook laptop computer that we use. The OS's are as follows: OS X 10.6.8, OS X 10.5.8, & OS X 10.5.8
- The OS X 10.6.8 Macbook won't connect with the Mbox2 Pro.
- Mic specs: SHURE SM58 Dynamic Legendary Vocal Microphone
We are desperate need of help. Anything at all would be appreciated.

When I set the Input Source to Mono there is no sound coming from the microphone into Garageband.
There are 6 mono options: Mono 1 (Didgidesign MBox2 Pro) - Mono 6 (Digidesign MBox2 Pro). And 3 stereo Options: Stereo 1/2, Stereo 3/4, & Stereo 5/6.
The only one that produces sound from the microphone is Stereo 1/2. when I choose the other options no sound appears when I press record.
(The Mic is plugged into Input 1 if that helps at all)

Permission repair been running for almost 2 days now? What happens if i stop it? What to do? Please help. Thanks in advance.

My imac wont start up after it asked me to restart the system. Prior to that, a message showed saying i dont have enough space on my start up disk. Now after i restart, it wont go pass the gray screen at start up with the apple logo. I restarted it several times, unplugged power from wall and still wont go pass the gray screen. I am now start up with the installation disk that came with imac and running permission repair( read it from other posts). Permission repair says 8 min till completion and its been running for 2 days now. What else can i do? What happens if i end permission repair and do repair disk? Will disk help solve my start up problem? Please help :( Thanks in advance...

You shouldn't be running Permissions repair booted from the install disc, in the first place. Stop it, shut down and Safe Boot. Hold Shift key down at startup chime. Give it longer to boot than usual. If you can get it to boot up, you must delete some things to make room. Likely candidates are in your home folder, music, movies, documents, pictures. The Safe Boot will, if possible, repair your drive.
If you don't want to lose them completely, you need to move them to an external drive. You should maintain at least 15-20% free of drive capacity.
You will likely have introduced real errors by repairing Permissions booted from the install DVD. You can fix them by running Permissions repair if and when you are in Safe Boot.

Cannot uninstall Adobe Acrobat XI Pro. Gone to programs and tried to uninstall then message says it is going to do it. Then message prompts come up asking if it can update my software. If I say no action it stops uninstalling. Then if I say yes it goes no further either.
Regret every taken up the trial offer for this programme as I tried using it and message repeatedly appears saying "Acrobat failed to send a DDE command".
Please can someone offer some advice. Thank you.

Try launching acrobat in safe mode, to do so follow the steps:
a.       Press and hold down shift and double click the acrobat icon and then open a pdf file.
b.      If it opens without crashing after about 15 seconds, then you have a faulty plug in, locate and remove it from your plug-ins folder.
c.       To remove plug-ins, you may contact Acrobat Support

Trouble installing adobe XI pro - help please!

I had previously purchased adobe 9 pro, and then subsequently downloaded a trial version of adobe XI pro.
I purchased an upgrade version of the XI pro, but have not been able to install it successfully. It has been a few days now, and I am nearing my wit's end!
At first, I just downloaded the upgrade (thinking it would override / replace during installation whatever version was previously on the system). It appeared to work fine, until it kept asking me to "buy" and then I realized it was probably still the trial version.
I uninstalled the trial version, but then the purchased one wouldn't install.
I thought because it was an upgrade, I had to have some version of adobe on my computer, so I re-installed the old one (adobe 9 pro) and that installed fine. When I then tried to install the upgrade to XI pro, nothing would happen!
It downloaded fine, however when I went to install nothing would happen. There was just no response from the computer.
I am using Windows 7, and a google chrome browser. I tried using Internet Explorer, but that wouldn't even download.
I tried downloading the 'alternate version' as a test, but I just got an error message that my windows version is incompatible.
I really don't know what the issue could be. The trial worked and installed fine, yet I'm having issues with the one I paid for!
Please help!

If the trial worked fine why did you uninstall it? You could have simply put the purchased serial number in the trial version to activate it.
There's no difference between the trial version and the full version except for the days of usgae. The trial version is good for 30 days and after that it would prompt to enter the serial number.
If you have already uninstalled the trial version and wish to install it you need not install the older version.
Adobe does not recommend installing 2 different versions of te same software as they might conflict each other.
When you install Acrobat 11 upgrade it will prompt to enter the Upgrade serial number as well as the previous qualifying version (Acrobat 9) serial number.
You only have to keep the serial numbers handy.
What I would recommend to you now is to run the Acrobat Cleaner tool ( http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html ) to clear off any remnants of the older software. Download and install Acrobat 11 and enter the srial numbers when prompted.

I don't see why not. My MacBook Pro runs it like a dream, and the hardware in the MacBook is pretty much identical with the exception of the GPU. And Logic certainly doesn't do much 3D rendering.
Besides, I've seen numerous reports on various Logic forums that it does in fact run great on the MacBook.
Back to the original question -- the 1.83 should do fine. I've yet to get close to maxing out my 2.0 in Logic. However, in my opinion it would be worth the upgrade to the 2.0ghz model. The one thing that really does matter with Logic is the CPU (and memory, but you already mentioned upgrading that).

If your iTunes library on your PC at work includes music and video that was not purchased from the iTunes store, you need to transfer your iTunes library from your PC to the Mac that you plan on syncing iTunes content with. This can be done with an external drive, or with CD/DVD media.
If all or most or all of your iTunes library on your PC at work includes music and video that was purchased from the iTunes store along with 3rd party apps, iTunes includes an option to transfer iTunes content that was purchased from the iTunes store from an iPod or iPhone, but this is for iTunes content that was purchased from the iTunes store only.
If you haven't already done so, you need to authorize your Mac with the same iTunes account with iTunes that is used with iTunes on your PC at work - with the Mac that you plan on syncing iTunes with.
With your iPhone connected and without syncing, at the iTunes menu bar go to File and select Transfer Purchases From - the name of your iPhone.

Acrobat 8 standard version --- help please

I have a full version of Acrobat 8 standard. It was working properly. I had to uninstall it and reinstall it and now it will not convert a web page or a word doc or any document to a pdf file. It will let me view a document in adobe and separate it but not to convert one. Any suggestions?

Well, the hard disk has been replaced and the Apple people replaced but innstalled the older OS (
X Lion 10.7)! So I tried to reinstall the newer OS which from App Store under Purchases but I had the problem I stated earlier: This copy of the Install OS X Mountain Lion application can't be verified.
