I am running Mac OS 10.10.1 on a MacBook Pro,
I am trying to use AI CS4 ver.14.0.0.0
when I start the program it is open in the back round but will not show up in the command line or display any of the tool pallets. I can only use force quit. All the other CS4 programs, photoshop, dreamweaver
Richard,
There are serious issues with running it under Yosemite, so far unsolved I am afraid, so you may try in vain. You may consider rolling back the OS, or upgrading (you can still buy CS6 from Adobe).
Apart from that, remember to first upgrade the OS, then reinstall the applications.

My printer is a Samsung ML-2010R. Still looking for a driver solution to run Mac OS X Lion through a new Macbook Pro. Previously, I was running Mac Os X version 10.5.8 through this printer on a 4 yr old Macbook. Any further help is most appreciated:-) Humbly, bowiej
Apple seems to be naming their operating sytems usability based on the respective turd size of the feline in question. Lions are big, very, very, very big.
I had a system that served me well for 2 years until I mistaking bought a new machine which runs mega-turd (Lion). Foolish me, now nothing works properly, its a daily struggle to get anything working smoothly using my NEW mac mini. All my other machines work fine, even the windows machines and my Android tablet see all the network components and can talk to each other.
My Internet service is over 3g which I share to the house using internet sharing via my brand new €800 mac mini running POS Lion, everytime the service is interrupted, Kaboom, the mini resets the DHCP server, but doesn't seem to refresh any of the components so connections drop everywhere.
Its amateur hour at Apple folks.
There are several posts alone relating to internet sharing, I have submitted a bug report relating to the non user controllable DHCP server (which may be at fault), but the response / solution from Apple was lacklustre and ultimately didn't work.
See this, there are some work around's in there;

My hard drive crashed on my Mac Book Pro and I just had it replaced yesterday. After restoring my data, Safari will not open. The error message I continue to receive is "Safari quit unexpectedly" Should I just delete the application and download a new one?

My system is a Macbook Pro running Mac Os 10.6.7 with a 2.8 GHz Intel Core 2 duo processor with 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3 ram. The upgrade downloads fine, but when I try to drag the firefox image onto my appication folder, I get a dialogue box that says...Cannot install application because "libsmime3.dylib" is in use. I can run Firefox fine from the disk image.
Nope---didn't work. I've owned Macs for about 12 years so although I am brain dead on some things, I do have a working knowledge on most things. I only say that to say this--I did try holding down the mouse and choosing empty trash. It asks if I want to permanently delete what's in there. I say yes--and then I get the same identical message again-----'The operation can't be completed because the item "Firefox 8.0.1.dmg" is in use I can then click stop, or continue.' So apparently that complains the same way it does if I click it up on the menu :)))
As for item owned by---that's not an issue and isn't coming up. User is not a problem either as I am the only user on this system. There is only ONE file in my trash at the moment at that is this dmg file. Nothing Mac. Nothing owned by anyone other than Firefox. The problem seems to be that the dmg file and the original 4.0 FF file are working in tandem with each other--even though I have already drug the new 8.0 globe into the Apps folder and it updated the FF app with the new stuff. If I could force the dmg file to go away, I would do so, but at every turn the system is telling me it can't be done because it seems to think that dmg file is in use---even though everything is shut down and/or ejected. Hey--I'm getting ready to head out and won't be back till evening. I'll check back in this evening. Thank you again for your help. -
That is all I can tell you. I like Firefox...does it work with this Lion??
I just downloaded the FF 7.0.1 .dmg file from here using Safari.

Select the language you want and use the link in the middle column.
If you tried to install Firefox in the system Applications directory, did you type in your admin password to get it to go in? Adding anything to that directory requires me to enter the admin password. Mind you, I do not install Firefox in there. I set up another Applications directory in my standard account and then created subdirectories for various categories in that. That is where I install Firefox. -
Running the new and improved 6.0.2 with Mac OS 10.6.8 on a Macbook Pro and Firefox keeps crashing. When I have Yahoo on my screen with MY FAVORITES on the left side I can't click on ANY of my favorites without a crash. I can hardly navigate anywhere without a crash. Have a MacBook Air running same OS and same Firefox with no problems. So what gives? What is happening and what should I do to fix this?
something similar has been happening to me for a a couple weeks (even before the most recent update, but now is definitely worse) on my 2010 MacBook Air. Firefox freezes upon startup, and then freezes maybe every twenty minutes or so when I'm actively using it, staying frozen for at least a minute or two. it drives me crazy.

Upgraded my Imac to Mt. Lion and now the Microsoft Office icons will not open WORD, EXCEL, POWERPOINT, or ENTOURAGE. I just pruchased on Ebay
OFFICE 2011 since my old version was 2004. DO I REMOVE THE OLD ICONS BEFORE LOADING OFFICE 2011 RO AFTER I LOAD IT???
THANKS, DR PEPPERMINTOffice 2011 will install in a separate folder. But do not install Office 2011 until you remove Office 2004. It comes with its own uninstalled located in the MS Office folder. Only use the uninstaller to get rid of it. Then install Office 2011.
Office 2004 and Other Applications Don't Work in Lion/Mountain Lion
If you have Office 2004 which is a PPC-only suite, it will not work in Lion/Mountain Lion. You need to upgrade to Office 2011 - Mactopia - or you can try the freeware suite, Libre Office, that is functionally similar to Office 2007 for Windows except it works on Lion/Mountain Lion.
You may want to consider as well:
These two suites are similar to Libre Office but not as current or as well-supported:
NeoOffice
Open Office
And, then there is Apple's iWork suite:
Pages - word processing and layout
Keynote - presentation
Numbers - spreadsheet
Each can open and save Office compatible files. They may be purchased separately via the Mac App Store for $19.99 each.
As for other software, any PPC-based software will not run in Lion or Mountain Lion because Rosetta is no longer part of OS X. You will need to upgrade to Intel versions of the software.
(Access to the Mac App Store requires Snow Leopard 10.6.6 or higher and an Apple ID.) -
I have a Mac G5 running OS 10.5.8. I downloaded Firefox 4 and now the program will not open at all. I get an error message that reads --
"You cannot open the application 'Firefox" because it is not supported on this architecture."
I am also unable to find a link to download the previous version (3.6) that was running fine. (I'm using Safari to contact you.)Same proble here, although the Firefox system requirements says it is OK to have PowerPC G3 G4 or G5 ( I have G5 2GHZ)
My solution; very simply use timemachine to restore the previous Frefox 3.x
worked great in 3 mns -

Replacing Firefox 3.6.16 containing my history, bookmarks etc by version 4.0, I find that it will not open on my Mac Power PC G4 running on OS 10.4.11. Is there is a compatibility problem and how do I retrieve version 3.6 with my bookmarks etc.
Firefox 4 requires at least OS X 10.5 and an Intel Mac. There is a third party version of Firefox 4 that runs on OS X 10.4/10.5 and PPC Macs, for details see http://www.floodgap.com/software/tenfourfox
If you prefer, you can get the latest version of Firefox 3.6 from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html
When you install one of the above it will use your existing bookmarks etc -
I have downloaded Firefox 4 on my Mac which is running OS 10.4.11 and it will not open. It has displaced my previous Firefox 3. How can I recover my previous Firefox (and all my tabs?)

I use LR5 on my Mac Desktop (Yosemite 10.10.1) and it works fine. I have downloaded LR5 to my new MacBookAir (Yosemite 10.10.1) and it will not open. firefox used to work no problem, I updated firefox a few month ago, now firefox will not open and I get the error message as above
As of Firefox 4.0 and newer one needs both OSX 10.5+ and a Intel Mac.
The last version to work on a Intel Mac using OSX 10.4.* is Firefox 3.6.*

I currently am running 10.5.8 and I need to update to atleast 10.6.8. Just wondering if I need to purchase it from apple or if there is an easy/free way to update it.

The effects of having actually used MacKeeper to do anything are a completely different matter. The fastest way to take an exquisitely designed and painstakingly engineered Mac and make it run like a steaming pile of dung is to install and use such ill-conceived "cleaning" or "security" products. This is just one example of a broad category of time- and money-wasters capable of causing damage that can only be rectified by reinstalling OS X, restoring from a backup, or completely erasing your system and rebuilding it from the ground up. Never install such junk on a Mac.
If you used MacKeeper to encrypt any files or folders, use MacKeeper to un-encrypt them first.
Quit the MacKeeper app if it is running.
Open your Applications folder: Using the Finder's Go menu, select Applications.
Drag the MacKeeper icon from your Applications folder (not the Dock) to the Trash.
You will be asked to authenticate (twice):
You do not need to provide a reason for uninstalling it:
Just click the Uninstall MacKeeper button. You will be asked to authenticate again.
After it uninstalls you may empty the Trash and restart your Mac. All that will remain is an inert log file that does nothing but occupy space on your hard disk.

WRT310N V1 doesn't let me print
Hi all, My modem crashed and I purchased a new one. When I reconnected the Linksys router nothing worked so I reinstalled the Linksys software. I now have internet connection and WiFi but I can't print. I reinstalled the printer software and it didn'
