I am running on 10.6.8 how do I upgrade to 10.7.8 or later

I am running on 10.6.8 how do I upgrade to 10.7.8 or later

If your system meets the requirements listed here, you can upgrade to OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion through the App Store, which you have access to in OS X 10.6.8.  Note while 2GB  memory is the minimum required, 4GB is recommended.
If you don't want to upgrade to OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion, call the online Apple store, which in the US is at 800-MY-APPLE, and buy the upgrade code for OS X 10.7 Lion. They will email you a code you can use at the App store. Note, you do not need to install OS X 10.7 to upgrade to OS X 10.8. You can go directly from OS X 10.6.8 to OS X 10.8.

  • Im currently running Yosemite Beta 10.10, how do i upgrade to a non beta release of yosemite?

Im currently running Yosemite Beta 10.10, how do i upgrade to a non beta release of yosemite? downloading yosemite in the app store doesn't work, i get a box that say my purchase couldn't be completed at this time. what can i do?

This seems very odd that they would completely make an entire OS X release not available at all. This is also unfortunate because some of the software use has compatibility issues with Yosemite. Thanks for the responses I will contact my local retail store and post back if they give me more information or a solution.

    I am running 10.5.8. How do I upgrade to 10.6.8 ?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
First, check that your computer is compatible > http://support.apple.com/kb/sp575 Then, buy Snow Leopard > http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
After buying Snow Leopard, make a backup of your data, insert the DVD and upgrade. It will install 10.6.3, so open  > Software Update, and install 10.6.8. With this, you will have the most recent Snow Leopard version. Now you can stay with Snow Leopard or upgrade to Lion or Mountain Lion, if you want

  • How do I upgrade OS 10.4 to a later system

How do I upgrade OS10.4 to a later system

Does this give you enough gen?
Absolutely! So you can get to 10.5 Leopard but no higher. If in N. America, you can phone Applle sales at 1-800-MY-APPLE and ask for an operating system specialist. Tell them you have a new iDevices and need to upgrade to 10.5. If they still have disks, they will sell you a set but at the old retail proce--US$129.
If that fails, you are on your own to search the resellers and auction sites. Be very careful: 10.5 is in high demand and some people take advantage of that fact, selling software that is not really "full retail install." Anyone offering a download of any Mac OS other than Apple is a crook. Run away!
A proper 10.5 retail install DVD looks like this:
You can't use a gray system disk that shipped with another Mac model.
Not sure about iWork. I know the current version on the App store requires 10.7.4. I'd ask in the iWork forum ( iWork ) what version of iWork will run under 10.5. I suspect older versions of that package are easier to find and cheaper than an in-demand OS.
    EDIT: this archived Apple article:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/SP516
says iWork 'O9 will run under 10.4.11 and higher.

  • I have an iphone 4 running iOS 4.3.2 how do I upgrade to the current iOS without losing any of my data?

I guess this all goes back to me wanting to sync my photos from my phone to my computer. In iTunes I don't have the option to sync from my phone to the computer. I just have the ability to sync from Computer to the Phone.
    Thanks in advance

You were probably thinking of syncing photos from your computer to your iphone http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1386
Usually when you sync your phone to itunes it creates a backup for you.  But I like to do one manually just to be on the safe side.
Once you done the backup, then go ahead and update your phone.  After the update is done your phone should be exactly the same.  No data or info should be lost.  - If it is lost you can restore to the backup you just created.
To do that on your phone you would go to settings - general - reset - erase all contents and settings - wiping your phone clean, then you'll have the option to restore from backup.

  • TA23843 How much memory upgrade can I get on a late 2006 imac

Looking to purchase GB memory for late 2006 iMac. What do I get and how much will it support? I want to install OS Lion but need 2GB to do that apparently.

Here are the specs and maximum capacity for your Late 2006 iMac:
        667MHz DDR2 SDRAM (PC2-5300), supports up to 3GB
I would recommend OWC or Crucial as excellent online vendors in the US.
    Hope this helps

  • I am currently running Mac OSx10.6.8 and need to upgrade to 10.7.5 or later to use Airport Exreme router. I am unsure about Mavericks and want to know if i can upgrade to the next highest OSX. 10.8.5? Any advice?

Can I upgrade my OS from 10.6.8 to 10.8.5 instead of going for the Maverick upgrade ? I need 10.7.5 or later to install an Airport Extreme router and I am hesitant to download Mavericks OS because of particularly bad reviews. Advice, opinions??

Yes, but it'll cost you $19.99.

I am running 10.5.2.  How do I upgrade to lion 10.7.1?  When I have tried to upgrade to earlier OS, the files download, but when installing, it seems to freeze.

You need to purchase the Snow Leopard DVD, in the Apple on-line store for $29.  Install that and then upgrade it to 10.6.8.  Then purchase and download Lion from the app store for $29 and install.

  • How can I upgrade from tiger 10.4.11 to Lion?

i have a Macbook and its running tiger 10.4.11, how can i upgrade it to Mac os x lion ?

You have to check to see your MacBook meets the hardware requirements: at least a Core 2 Duo, i3, i5, i7, or Xeon processor, 2 Gb memory, though 4 GB is much better and at least 7 GB free hard drive space.
Thhen you need to buy Snow Leopard, 10.6, and install and upgrade to at least 10.6.6, then purchase from the app store Lion, 10.7 and install.

Since your Mac probably came with 10.4, there is no longer a way to get 10.5 Leopard install media. IF it has the requirements, you may be able to upgrade to 10.6 Snow Leopard by buying the boxed install media at the Apple Store for $30.

  • ITunes will no longer download. It says it has not been correctly localized for this language, and to run the English version. How do I do that?

My iTunes will no longer download.
All of a sudden I get the message "This version of iTunes has not been correctly localized for this language. Please run the English version".
How do I fix this and run the English version again? .

Start by trying to repair iTunes from the programs and features control panel.
Otherwise, for general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
