I am selling my old Photoshop 5 software CD and book. Do I worry about licensing

You can't use CS2 on a new Mac I'm afraid. CS2 will only work on old Macs with a PowerPC processor. Current Macs have an Intel processor so CS2 can't run at all. You will have to buy CS6, the current version, or subscribe to the Creative Cloud if you want Photoshop.

  • OLD PHOTOSHOP 4.0 and 6.0 install in Windows 8.1

I have an OLD PHOTOSHOP 4.0 CD and a PHOTOSHOP 6.0 UPGRADE CD.
    I am running Windows 8.1
I had no problem in Windows 7 installing the 4.0 CD - then the UPGRADE 6.0 over that.
But Windows 8.1 would not allow an install of PHOTOSHOP 4.0 but probably would accept a full PHOTOSHOP 6.0 install...... but I only have the 6.0 UPGRADE.
    So I have a Catch 22.
If I try to install the 6.0 UPGRADE CD first it wants to look through my HDD for the 4.0 install first.
But - it isn't there cause it wouldn't install on Windows 8.1.
    WHAT TO DO ???????

You should not need to have 4.0 installed, you should only need the serial number from it to confirm the upgrade installation of CS6.  When you are activating CS6 it should provide the option of specifying the serial number for 4.0 when it is unable to find a qualifying version on the machine.

  • Downloading software updates and largish files

    Hi--
Ever since bringing in my old home computer (imac 10.4.5) to use on the office network, I am having trouble getting software updates or other downloads such as Palm software and audible.com audiobooks. Small downloads work fine, as does my mail and net access, but software update and other application downloads stall about two minutes in. Our ISP and tech consultant insist I am connected correctly and that they do not limit download size. It all worked fine at home. What am I doing wrong?

Note, before updating any software, read carefully my FAQ* to avoid surprises:
    http://www.macmaps.com/upgradefaq.html
There a download manager built-in to Safari. Just download your updates from http://www.apple.com/swupdates/
And open the Downloads window to manage your download.
Given the size of the updates, you may want to consider gettin an airport card for your iMac, and occasionally taking it in to a WiFi hotspot mentioned on http://www.jiwire.com/ to download your updates. Package it carefully in the original packaging it came in, or get an iLugger bag to carry it. Or you can put the update on a flash drive and bring it to your iMac if you also have a notebook computer. Some stores also let you bring your own blank CD to burn the update as well. Check with the stores in your area. Dialup has a lot of problems when software downloads get over 10 MB getting a reliable copy of the download because of errors on the line.

  • Selling my old iMac but keep Adobe Suite

I'm selling my old iMac and I want to include the Adobe Suite and other applications. What I don't want to include are my files- such as pictures, documents, etc. How do I do this? Thanks!

This applies to a no longer used version of Adobe software or complete CS suites.
The person I bought CS3 from is currently using CS5. This was an item on Amazon.
As long as the sale complies to the EULA and the end user de-registers the older Adobe software, that user can resell the software as an unregistered copy of the software for sale.
I got the actual, official, Adobe DVD discs and storage case, minus the paper manuals, with the actual serial number for that purchased version.
This was the full retail design standard version, not an upgrade version.
Bought it for a real, reasonable cost.
It was cheaper than purchasing a version of CS4.
Adobe has seemed to work out the previous bugs that CS3 had when Apple released 10.6 Snow Leopard.
    So far, everything works.
Photoshop CS3 opens lightning fast compared to CS version I had running on OS X 10.5.
Haven't yet tested on any real projects, as yet though.
Just finished installing and re-registering and updating all of the software, today.

  • I have cs3 adobe photoshop bridge software originally  now I want cs6 can I download it and pay on line?  I don't have to pay for the whole bundle do I since I already have cs3 software.

I have old cs3 adobe photoshop bridge software.  I would like the latest version cs6.  Can I just download it from the internet or do I have to buy software and have it mailed to me.  I understand since I already have one version can I just download the new.  Cheaper that way.

CS3 is totally out of any upgrade loop now.  You are free to buy Photoshop CS6 Perpetual License as a full version, $700 for the standard version or 1 cool $1,000 for the extended version of Photoshop or subscribe to any of the subscription plans for CC, CC2014 ($30 a month) or the Adobe Photography plan ($10 a month), but then you never get to own the software; the moment the monthly or yearly payments stop, your software ceases to work.
    Just a clarification in general:
Remember, you are not addressing Adobe here in the user forums.  You are requesting help from volunteers users just like you who give their time free of charge.
In other words, please don't kill the messenger.

  • Installing old Photoshop Elements on a new computer

I have an old version of Photoshop Elements and a new MAC. It was previously installed on my PC which crashed. But the new MAC won't let me install this software - it tells me there is an error with the install.

OK... so this is an OLD version - it is 4.0 (2006). My MAC is running OS X Version 10.8.2. The installation begins and some of the files begin installing then it quits and the message reads: "The installer encountered an error that caused the installation to fail. Contact the software manufacturer for assistance."
    Thanks

  • How do I activate an old Photoshop CS that's no longer supported

I have an old version of the Adobe CS (first generation) that's no longer supported by Adobe. I'm still using it on a desktop. But I just bought a new computer today and wanted to install this over to the new desktop. It prompts me to register that product but that link doesn't work anymore. I asked Adobe through the Chat line and was told they don't support this old serial number anymore. How do I activate an old Photoshop CS that's no longer supported? Anyone?

Thanks. I installed Photoshop CS2 and ran the program. It prompts to me Register. After I did, it tells me Registration is Complete. But when I close the program and reopen it again, it prompts me again! If I click Do Not Register, the box disappears but then reappears again when I reopen the software!  It's quick annoying. But I guess if there's no way around it, I may have to live with it!
I should start saving up for the next CS version....

  • Old Photoshop 5.5 on Windows 7

    Hi
I have old Photoshop upgraded to 5.5, which is fine for my needs, I still have original disks and serial number.  My new laptop is Windows 7 and when I tried to install from disks there is no response, and a suggestion given was that I copy the files to C drive and run, but when I tried to run setup file in Photoshop folder from C drive, the message is 'the file version is incompatible with this version of Windows, refer to software manufacturer'.  Has anyone managed to install 5.5 on Win 7?  I'm not a teccie but I can follow instructions.  Cheers, Maggie

    Hi
Have had another go at installing as had fish for supper last night, brain food. The problem was upgraded Photoshop 5.5 would not install on Windows 7. So, instead of trying to install original Phshop disk, which always produced a null response on setup, I installed the upgraded disk instead. I browsed the CD contents for setup (ie. not Autoplay setup) on the upgrade disk, and for the first time, had a response. Message said it couldn’t proceed without Photoshop being verified as already installed which of course I haven’t been able to do. But the last option allows you to choose PhShop ‘Media’ so I clicked on this option as the means of verification. Message came up saying I could replace this upgrade disk in order to verify that this was a legitimate install – so I stuck in the original disk again – and it was able to read and verify! So I then removed original disk and re-inserted the upgrade disk, THEN pressed OK and was able to proceed to install, and put in serial number etc. The software does seem to be working. Cheers, Maggie

  • How do I move the tags and catalogs from old Photoshop Elements on old computer to new computer?

I am trying to move my Photoshop Elements information to a new computer.  I have gotten the software installed, and the picture files moved over, but the tags and catalogs are not showing up on the new computer.  From looking online, it looks like there is a way to attach that information to the files on the old computer before transferring them over.  Ugh!  Hindsight!  Having already transferred over 35,000 jpg files to my new computer, is there any other way to move that information over without deleting all those files on my new computer and starting from scratch?

Even if you have the same folder structure, the organizer will find that the internal serial number of the drive is different and show all files as missing; you'll need to reconnect. That's why the backup and restore method is better. It also recognizes the need to upgrade (convert) the catalog format to the new version of Elements.
Use Backup, Restore to move catalog | Organizer | Elements 6 or later

  • Selling my old copy of OS 9.0.4- Registration Number question

I'm planning on selling my old copy of OS-9.0.4 retail version.
The original CD case is gone- but I still have my other documentation. It did not come with a manual.
What does the buyer of this software need to use it? All I have is a registration number- is that enough?
I no longer have the computer that this software was on, and I can't install it on my new computer.

What does the buyer of this software need to use it?
Just the pressed, silkscreened, "Full Retail" CD, and your assurance that you are not retaining or using any copies of it. \[And most buyers will not ask for that last item.]

  • Can I run the old Adobe CS2 software on a new Macbook?

Can I run the old Adobe CS2 software on a new Macbook?
I am planning on buying the new white 13" macbook online from apple.
Although I have the old CS2 Adobe software.
I was wondering if anyone knows if the new macbook is able to run that old software.
If anyone knows, please let me know, as I am planning on purchasing soon!
    Thanks in advance,
    Heather

Yes, it will run OK. Before buying Design Premium CS4, I used Photoshop CS2 on my late-2008 MacBook Pro (under OSX 10.5.6 through 10.5.8) without any problems.
