I am so pleased I migrated to BT

I'm not being paid to write this, honestly. I live a considerable distance from my telephone exchange and when I managed to get broadband some years back despite the inordinate length of line, I was simply grateful. I put up with really poor broadband reception because I thought that that was as good as it could be. I recently in the past few months migrated to BT and granted I've had problems BUT the problems have been addressed thanks to the Moderators. Quite honestly before migrating to BT I couldn't access BBCiPlayer or even YouTube because my broadband was incapable of streaming such material. My move to BT and the support of the Moderators on this forum have enabled me to access a completely new world which was previously shut off from me. With delight I am enjoying episodes of QI which I have never seen before along with other TV series which I missed when originally broadcast. THIS IS JUST GREAT. Thank you.

I have following issue that need your help (is a Solaris + Oracle 10g):
1. We are going to migrate data center, we going to move physical server BUT we are going to purchase new Hitachi Storage.
2. We are going to use Hitachi TrueCopy to clone all the OCR, Vote Disk and ASMDisks
In the server I have following softlink created:
/dev/rdsk/myrac/ocr -> /dev/rdsk/myolddisk1d0s0
/dev/rdsk/myrac/votedisk -> /dev/rdsk/myolddisk2d0s0
/dev/rdsk/myrac/asmdisk -> /dev/rdsk/myolddisk3d0s0
What I am going to do is to recreate the softlink to the new LUN, then change the permission to either root:oinstall and oracle:oinstall and 640 or 660 accordingly.
/dev/rdsk/myrac/ocr -> /dev/rdsk/newdisk1d0s0
/dev/rdsk/myrac/votedisk -> /dev/rdsk/newdisk2d0s0
/dev/rdsk/myrac/asmdisk -> /dev/rdsk/newdisk3d0s0

I cannot advise on the detail of your proposed method, but may I ask one question: are you certain that you have the best approach? If it is possible to mount the old and the new storage on the same node(s), then you can move the disk groups to the new storage by using ASM to relocate file extents, and you can also move the OCR and vote devices. All with zero downtime,

Urgent help, please? Migrating to 10g (10.1.2.1.0) from 9i (9.0.3.5)

Hi there
just recently tried to migrate my projects over to JDeveloper 10g from 9i, and, while all the files seem to have come across ok, my projects have lost their structure, and in my most recent project, every single other existing bc4j component from other projects is sitting in there too - and I can't seem to be able to drop them from the project.
Most disturbingly, I can no longer run the PG or RN files from my project. The .xml files are there, but the structure of the pg/region doesn't show as normal in the structure panel - it just gives the xml structure.
The files are all mixed up now in the 9i version too. What's happened? Is this normal What do I do to get going again? Any help appreciated. Especially if it's quick!

Correct, nothing supports OA framework other than the version of JDev you get from Metalink that says "this is for OA framework"
You may still have the OA Framework version on your PC. The problem is that once you open your projects in a new version of JDev, it converts the files. That's why it's critical to have a backup.
I'd direct you at this point - it's probably best for you to take this to the [url http://forums.oracle.com/forums/forum.jspa?forumID=210]OA Framework Forum and follow up with them - you'll get much more directed help...

Ummm,
Did you possibly try the default username/password combination? (cisco/cisco) It should then prompt you to change these settings once you gain access. I'm not familiar with how the migration works, if it transitions the user accounts over or you end up starting from scratch. Give that a try and hopefully it gets you into your new system.

PL/SQL migration from Oracle 7.3 to Oracle 8.1.6

I am planning to upgrade from Oracle 7.3 to Oracle 8.1.6. As well from HP-UX 10.20 to HP-UX 11.0.
I do not want to run my PL/SQL code in compatibility mode.
Please suggest migration path.
Also, i want to migrate PL/SQL scripts from 8.0.5 to 8.1.6 on HP-UX 11.0. I know this should be
straight forward migration.
Does the recompilation on HP-UX 11.0 with 8.1.6 environment works fine..?!
I read about the 'utlrp.sql' script to be run to find out the report prior to recompilation on target
platform. If i do this, it should enough OR is there any other ways of doing things..?!

I have never done the migration from 7.3 to 9i. But I had done 8.0 to 8i and 8i to 9i.
Pl/SQL code should work fine as it is. I wonder what will happen if you have any variables declared VARCHAR (not VARCHAR2) ? There can be few places like that, if the application was originally written on Oracle 6.Otherwise, the code should work as it is.
Regarding Pro*C, you need to use the new make file which has come with 9i.
Also, I do not remember exactly, but probably, you need to initialize all VARCHAR veriables declared between BEGIN DECLARE SECTION and END DECLARE SECTION. Initialize all of them with \0 (NULL charactor).
I think that should be enough for 7.x application to run on 9i.

Migrated to a new mac pro and keep getting an install error when trying to update the creative cloud app

I get an error when I try to start creative cloud that asks me to update. I download the updated installer and run it. I then get an error that says:
Adobe Creative Cloud is needed to resolve this problem. However, it is missing or damaged. Please download and install a new copy of Creative Cloud from 'http://www.adobe.com/go/adobecreativecloudapp'.
Following the message is two buttons. Quit and Get Creative Cloud. If I follow these directions I will sit here all day just downloading and trying to install Creative Cloud only to find out that I have a problem for which I need to download and install Creative Cloud. This would be like the person who uses a whole bottle of shampoo every time they get in the shower just because is says lather rinse repeat. Can you break this endless loop for me?

PI 7.0 DB migration

We are using PI 7.0 (Windows environment).This is HA/Distributed environment
PI Application and DB both are running on different host with Microsft Cluster technology for HA
We wanted to move DB instance (only DB as we do not want to make any change into Application) on Linux or Solaris Server
Do we just need to use statndard OS/DB Migration system copy Guide for DB instance move to another server? We also want to have HA for DB after moving to new server
In addition to DB migration do we need to make any changes for below configuration after DB move to new server?
1. Change in PI Exchange profile file
2. SLD Configuration Changes
3. JCO Connection configuration Change
4. Visual and Configtool related changes
I appreciate expert opinion on this

Hi Deelip,
You need to use standard OS/DB migration, though in this case you are just migrating your DB and not application, but it is advisable to run sapinst on both servers because I am assuming that generally hostname naming convention for Windows and Unix/Linux changes plus your listener settings on application server will also change,
....but if you do not wish to run migration sapinst on your app server then you need to do manual changes on app. server for listener and your DB hostname should not change.
Then you need to check "R3trans -d" for ABAP part and you need to check Configtool is getting connected or not.
Let say you will be successful in making your java up in that case also you need to send your new data to SLD, check your SMSY, LMDB for correctness of DB server information.
When your java will be up, then VA and JCo should not be an issue.
Unless you don't have enough time to go through this experimental process. Please run migration on both servers and follow PI db copy documents also for few missing post steps.

Not able to recreate virtual desktops after migrating to new server

Hello Everyone,
I need some help please,
I migrated our roles and VMs to new system,I basically joined the new servers to the existing failover cluster, installed all VDI roles and after moving all roles and VMs to the new servers, I removed the old servers from the cluster.
everything seems working fine except recreating the virtual desktops collection.
when I try to do so, I get this error message:
"The RD Connection Broker server does not have access to add the
virtual desktops to the Active Directory domain. Configure access by
using the Active Directory page of Deployment Properties."
I did some searches for this error and from AD Users and Computers tool -> security tab of root node (domain/OU) I gave full permission to the new server.
another strange thing, is that I no longer can modify the domain and OU setting when I click on
"Edit Deployment"
the fields are grayed and no longer editable.
please advise.

I got it to work , the first time I tried to create a new collection , the master vm export failed with permission errors, later on It passed. after that I dropped a collection and recreated the vms of the first collection.
it is not clear to me yet, why this happened and how it got fixed but for now it is working.

SSRS/SharePoint Migration 2010 to 2013 connection issues

We are currently attempting to move our SharePoint 2010 to 2013 and SSRS Information. The first attempt at this we were unable to get SSRS to show up in Central Admin. We decided to rebuild all servers and re-installed everything.
This time we have SSRS showing up in Central admin and we are able to run some reports from our sites now. In our 2010 environment we are using "Windows authentication (integrated) or Sharepoint user" option with SharePoint Lists. I am unable to
get this to work in our 2013 Environment, the stored credentials with windows authentication will work however.
I have read t through many different books, MS Guides, Blogs, Forums, etc but unable to solve this issue.
I have tried editing the rsreportserver.config to match our Production, did not help. (also tried different authentications)
I found an article saying to change the "Forms" Auth in some config files to "Windows" did not help
When I try to go to our \\localserver\reportserver (appserver) I get a blank page with this info:

I have tried going into Central Admin -> General Application Settings -> Report Server Integration. and fill out this information also but receive this error:

I am not sure if I have missed some step along the way of migrating and setting up this information. Any help or other things to try would be very helpful.

According to your description, you get connection issue after migration from SharePoint 2010 to SharePoint 2013. Right?
In this scenario, we are not clear how you did the migration. Please follow these steps and check if you miss anything:
Restore Reporting Services encryption keys
Backup the SharePoint content databases and detach it.
Backup Reporting Services catalog database.
Copy Reporting Services configuration files.
Restore SharePoint Content databases to the new farm.
Restore the Reporting Servicesencryption keys.
Restore the SQL database that is the Reporting Services catalog database (ReportServer).
Restore Reporting Services configuration files.
Create a new Reporting Services service application.

HT3989 i've migrated from my macbook pro to iMac and now some patches of the exs24 instrument do not work in logic

I recently bought a new imac and migrated form my macbook pro. I'm running logic and when i opened one of my logic project files i've been working on, some files (mostly exs24 instrument files) would not load up with the project file...a message was displayed with each file that could not be "detected" with an option to "Continue" or "Search again"...if you "search again" nothing happens and if you "continue" the files ends up loaded up with the exs24 instrument on some tracks not reading the patch file? This also happened with some audio files which would not load with a logic project file? I really do not want to reinstall and risk losing anything more...please help

Migration Assistant seems not to work well for some with Logic. Probably the easiest way to sort this would be to re-install the content.
You could check Library:Application Support:Logic and Library:Application Support:GarageBand for the "missing" files to see if the really are there.
If they are, it may be a Spotlight issue, which can be fixed by 're-building' the Spotlight Index.
