I am soooo confused

This program cannot be this difficult. I am sure it is me. I have two web site already up and running, using Adobe Go Live. I thought I would give iWeb a try. I am not using .Mac. I use Fetch. (www.shepherdofthehill.org) My site is now a mess. I have redesigned the two sites, both using iWeb. The two sites are in my documents folder, in seperate folders. But when I make changes to the above site and republish, it seems to republish both sites and puts them together in one folder -- and makes a new folder of the site I was working on -- so now I have two files of the same web site. So when I upload using Fetch, it is a real hassle to find the newest file (again, remember, I now have two files of the above web site since I made a change to the web site and republished. Now web site is missing photos, links. You name it, it is a mess. I have deleted all of my files numberous times using Fetch, but I am getting no where except very frustrated. And, of course, documentation is almost nonexistent.
I don't think anyone can help me, but I had to get this off my chest before I went to bed. Sorry for the rambling.

It sounds like you may have been changing names of things inside published folders. This can break internal links and destroy a site. I would suggest you get things right inside iWeb and then republish to your desktop and then reupload everything so you have a clean start. Do your sites look correct when viewed with a browser locally? I'm sure someone can help you sort it out, but it may require being able to look at your server space and the structure of your sites.

Soooo Confused about Libraries

I have a lot of music on a seperate drive (DATA) on which I store all my data. The music is in a folder named DATA/"iTunes" In the folder there are no Libraries or XML files, just folders with music in them. On my system drive I have a folder in my home folder called "Music". In that folder are two folders, one for Garage Band and one for iTunes. In the iTunes folder is:
A folder called "Album Art"
A file called "iTunes Export"
A file called "iTunes Library"
A folder called "iTunes Music" (which is empty)
A file called "iTunes Music Library.xml"
A file called iTunes Temp
A file called iTunes Temp 1
A folder called "Previous iTunes Libraries" which contains 5 files:
iTunes 3 Music Library
iTunes 4 Music Library

Now...when I launch iTunes (which has been "updated" as part of a recent system update and now displays iTunes 7.3.2 (6)) I do not see more than half of the music that is in the folder DATA/iTunes. And all of my playlists are gone. So obviously something is hosed. What I would like to do is get rid of all un-needed files and folders and somehow create a library file that actually shows all of my music. I'm not too worried about the playlists which I can re-create. FWIW iTunes Prefs shows the "iTunes Music Folder Location as DATA:iTunes (I do not want to move all the music to the home folder) which is correct but the application does not seem to see all the music.

Hopefully, the above info will clarify everything about the library/event/project hierarchy. The important thing to keep in mind is you can't work without a library; and that library has to hold at least one event. Your event is a folder that organizes your media according to a wide variety of criteria that you can specify. Your project contains the timeline where you assemble your selects, apply your effects to tell your story and it is stored within the event folder.
You will be happy to hear that those who come to FCP X without much traditional NLE experience (sorry, David) usually pick it up very fast. A guy that I work with didn't even have any iMovie experience and after less than 2 hours of DIY learning, cut a very credible show that aired on a local station.

Macbook pro retina doesn't turn on for a day or two

So this is a weird one... I recently purchased a used Macbook Pro Retina and the previous owner had upgraded the hard drive for a bigger size. My macbook worked great for a few days but then one night I closed it and the next day when I opened it, it would not turn on. I tried rebooting the battery (SHIFT+CONTROL+OPTION and POWER) then hitting power but NOTHING. At one point, I heard a clicking sound when I would leave the power button down. Then... two days later I push the power button just because and BAM! The screen comes on. (I didn't hear the start up sound, and it wasn't like it restarted.) It was as if the screen brightness was all the way down but then came back. (I kept trying to adjust that too before it turned on).
I don't understand!!! Two days later, same thing happened. Then again, it turned back on a day later.
The only thing I noticed that was weird was when I connected it to my tv with HDMI cable. The laptop screen would freeze and get distorted and I would have to force a restart (the black screen with the apple would appear and the loading bar as if I would updating the software).
I'm soooo confused and I don't want this to keep happening. I would appreciate any type of help or advice!!

How can I get that music to show up in my library now on my new computer? Also, will itunes still recognize my ipod on my new computer when I plug it in? Copy it from your old computer or your backup copy of your old computer.
The sync is one way - computer to ipod.

Background refresh does not work as expected

Hello All,
I am brand new to iphone after using Android for several years, one thing that is really bothering me is the way certain apps seem to behave and how the background app refresh seems to have no affect when on or off.
The examples I will use is Whatsapp & Kik (Both messaging apps)
If someone sends me a message on either of the above then I get an alert saying 1 new message, however that message doesn't download to my phone, what seems to happen is when I open the app it says "connecting" at the top of the screen for a while and it takes a few seconds (sometimes longer) for the message to appear. If I have poor signal it is very frustrating, I know I have several messages and my phone says that, but because I cant connect it just goes round in circles for ages saying connecting and failed and i cannot read my messages until i have full signal again.
On the android, if I got a notification to say I had a whatsapp message then that message would download automatically, even if I had no signal at the point of opening the app then it would instantly show the new message, because it had downloaded it immediately in the background, of course I couldn't reply with no signal but at least I could read it which i cant with the iphone.
so, my understanding of Background refresh would be that it would resolve my issues, if the app updates in the background and i get a message, surely that means when I open it 20 minutes later that the new message would be present? but it's not, even with app refresh on it makes no difference to what I'm saying.
Am I reading app refresh all wrong and can anyone see my point and explain if I'm doing something wrong.
sorry to bang on but another example could be facebook, if i dont go on it all day but have app refresh on and have the task open, surely when I eventually load it it should have all the latest feed on my timeline - but it doesnt, it will be exactly as I left it the day before and would spend the first 30 seconds updating.
Please please feel free to comment and let me know if I'm doing something wrong or misunderstanding the backgound app refresh function
My phone is the iPhone 5s and is on the latest IOS 8.1.1 but was the same on 8.1.0 and whatever was previous to that.
I am on the three network pay monthly and all issues i mentioned about relate to being on 3G and on wifi so it's not a signal issue.

Connecting AppleTV to TV

The more I read on different Forums about how to connect my appleTV to my TV which does not have a HDMI, DVI connection or Component , then I get just soooo confused as there are so many solutions suggested and so many contradicted ideas so I need some help.
My TV is a Philips 32PW6506/01 a 32 inch widescreen
The input connections are;
on the back:
- Ext1= Scart Euro A/V Connector RGB in, CVBS in/out
- Ext2= Scart Euro A/V Connector S-Video in, CVBS in/out
- Stereo Audio out
on the side:
- CVBS video in (composite
- Audio L/R (cinch/RCA) in
I don´t know a thing about Scart, YUV, RGB... so I hope some professional can help me with an advice what I really need.

Changes to topics don't show up in chm & topics are duplicated

I imported a RoboHelp 5 project into RoboHelp 7. When I edit
a topic, save, and generate the primary layout (chm) the changes do
not show up in the chm unless I access the topic through the TOC.
Also, duplicates of every topic show up in the .chm when I search
on a topic title: one with old out of date stuff that I don't know
where it's coming from and one that gets a "The page cannot be
displayed" message.

1) Make a backup of your project, and then rename the .cpd
file and reenter your project.
2) Try creating a new single source layout.
3) Check the hyperlinks in your topics for any that

Sata, serial, via, promise?

I'm soooo confused. I've been reading the posts and posted myself but it seems I'm more in the dark now than ever.
Ok. So there's a VIA controller and a Promise controller. The board has SER1, SER2, SATA1 and SATA2 connectors. In cmos setup, both are enabled.
I installed one Maxtor drive, connected it to SER1 and used the Promise diskette when prompted at the start of windows setup. After setup completed I installed all the drivers from the MSI cd. That was my interpretation of the installation instructions in the manual.
When I boot up, first I get "detecting Promise...." then it shows my drive. On the next screen, it reports serial ch0 and ser ch1 as no device detected. In Windows, device manager shows the Promise controller and the Maxtor as SCSI. My system seems to run fine.
So I went into setup and found both the VIA and the Promise controllers enabled. I disabled the VIA sata and pata controller. When booting up, after detecting the Maxtor, I get a blank screen for about 30 seconds after which, windows starts. So I reenabled the VIA.
On to my questions:
How do I know the promise controller is functioning? Simply because the system runs?
Why does the system report ser ch0 and ch1 as no device?
Why the delay during bootup if I disable the VIA controllers?
If I want to try the VIA controller at this point, what do I need to do?
Is the SER1 connector for Promise and the SATA1 for VIA?

I yipppeeeed too soon. I hooked back up my raid and the single sata drive was not recongnized by promise or in windows. I then did a windows repair so I could load the 378 driver using f6. I still can't get it to work when I use the via raid. However, it is a step in the right direction to just get the thing to work by itself on promise.

Glad you got it to work, but sorry it no longer works. I'm assuming you now have Windows installed on the Via RAID and the Single Promise SATA. I think there are some issues with installing Windows on separate hard drives that are all connected at the same time. I think this may be the case since it worked when you had the Via RAID disconnected when you had the single Promise SATA working. There are problems with which one is recognized as the boot drive during startup. See if you can force it to boot to the Single Promise SATA by hitting F11 (maybe F12) during start up to choose which drive to boot from. If you can do this it may be another step in the right direction. It may also mean that you need to wipe windows off one of the drives I believe that Jocko has written some great stuff about this type of issue with multiple drives having Windows installed. Try a forum search for that and maybe something he said could help you out, too. Let me know if you get it running or if I can be of any further assistance.

Changing User ID on iphone (id is same as email)

When I attempt to download an app, a user name that is different than my current email address (email address is the ID). How do I change the iphone's user ID to the correct ID that is found when logged in on the PC. The iphone user ID is different that the PC ID and needs to be changed to accept the password.

Thanks for the help, but when I entered all the "new" information (user name & password) the iphone / itunes program informs me that the ID already exists, but when I attempt to load an app, there is a different ID.

my issue begins with me trying to patch vmware for 3.6.3-1-arch
I tried using vmware & this told me the modules were not present for 3.6.3 so I went to grab latest from AUR (vmware-patch), the comments on there suggested that the ones for 3.5.x still worked but needed to be rebuilt.
so I read these instructions:

I noticed that in the finishing up section it gave a warning that if I update the kernel need too issue the following:
vmware-modconfig --console --install-all
so I ran this & tried to run vmplayer
this opened but crashed as soon as i tried to play a VM, I then decided that as I had not used it for some time I would just remove it:
vmware-installer --uninstall-product vmware-player
this finished & so I ran:
pacman -R vmware-patch
all was ok (so I thought) a while later I had to reboot to do something in my win7 install (non volatile) upon completing I rebooted back to arch & now my install refuses to boot & I see:
Failed to start load Kernel Modules [FAILED] see 'systemctl status systemd-modules-load.service' for details
obviously systemd fall's over & offers to enter password or control-D to continue
well the system refuses to go any further & locks up totally (no flashing kbd lights like a panic though!)
the exact same happens when I boot the fallback kernel
I can chroot into it using the old media (CORE 2011.08.19) which is the most recent I have, whilst chrooted in I thought perhaps the old vmware modules did not get removed correctly so I blacklisted them in:
/etc/modprobe.d/vmware.conf
blacklist vmmon
I have managed to get into the system using the following boot parameter:
systemd.unit=rescue.target
I then ran:
systemctl status systemd-modules-load.service
this provided the default message about the service not starting but no reason why or what caused it to fail
So any advice or way forward would be appreciated as I am totally lost & have googled everything I can think of which may help but this is the first time I have b0rk3d the modules & am lost as to what to do .

i have been all over the FS & can no longer find conf files for vmware.
I really have no clue as to what is stopping my eth0 from starting & now i find that because this is not up xorg no longer wants to either as it cant find a screen due to no network (i thought this would use lo!)

Problems with NEW MEGA 651 PC

Put the MEGA 651 together today. The heat sink /cooler was a pain in the butt to get installed but finally got it. Also purchased the MSI DVD/CDRW Drive since a disclaimer on the box said other brands may not work... ok.
Installed it all and guess what. Yep the MSI CD unit doesnt open the door cause it hits the case! Not only that but the MSI CD Eject button in behind and below the cutout making it almost impossible to even attempt to get the cd tray to eject! Then the damn thing bounces off my finger pushing the eject button and goes back in. If I push the button with a pencil the tray comes out 3/8" and hits the side of the case cause the cutout doesnt line up.... Now thats planning! Not to mention I wonder what happens when it finally comes out and you put a cd in it. It goes back in does it SNAG the spring loaded door and jam or does it scratch the cd in the drive?
It seems to me I need to remove the door and drill a 1/4" hole in the case so I can put something in there to press the eject button.
Also the green light on the card reader and the clock stays displayed after I turn the PC off. Also there is still power to the NUMLOCK light on the keyboard so I ASSUME it is NOT TURNING ALL THE WAY OFF.
I haven't got a chance to install an OS yet since I have to resolve the CD issue before I can even get a CD in the thing.
On a positive not I like the radio at least it works!

That's strange that it hits the case. I bet you have it mounted wrong. Try moving it forwards/backwards in the case until it ejects correctly. I had mine too close to the door and it wouldn't open... moving it back solved the problem.
Now, I don't own a 651, but if it's like the 865, then you don't push the button that's located on the CD Player, instead you push the eject button on the computer case itself.

My iCloud account isn't showing on my mac

First - I can't access my iCloud on my computer, no one's helped, though I've been asking everywhere. I can't find it anywhere, not in Finder, nor even in spotlight. This happened before Sandy, last June!
Second - I have 2 "accounts" w/ same E-mail addy & slightly different names, because the first one didn't seem to go through. So when I went back in, I had to put a 1 after my name, because my E-mail addy already had an account - but I couldn't access it either! I know it's "free" but how does one find it on the computer, or do I have to go somewhere on line to get to it? Should I have bookmarked it in Safari? Is there a "FAQ" or some "how to" manual?
Third - Did I read it right? That in order to save docs from my pages, I have to buy a new one (though I have Lion & pages 9), or is it that I have to pay to store any of my documents in iCloud. It's supposed to hold 5 GB, much more than I'd need. I am Soooo confused by this! My only reason for getting this is my old mac crashed & I lost some good docs! Though I'm concerned about having anything on the net, as Mocavo seems to be stealing tons of data from various sites. How secure is iCloud from these hackers & thieves?

So.. I have no clue what Im doing.

So. Im going to attempt to summarize my entire day of trying to get this to work. I have a dell computer that has cable for its internet and I bought an ibook for college and the apple store guy told us that wed have to get the airport extreme to connect the ibook to the dells internet. And he said wed have to have a cord from the cable modem to the airport and and the a cord from the airport to the dell. So we did that and Im soooo confused as to why its not working. First it didnt work then we had the internet on the ibook but not on the dell. And the dell has windows xp but I have no clue if this is the reason or what. So Im sure none of what Im saying is making sense because Im so irritated so Im rambling. But thats about all we know of. So any solutions?

We are running five computers off one Airport express cabled to a cable modem. 4 wireless ibooks and one e-machine. The Power is there. It helps when you understand what is happening. So, I'm giving you a non -techie nana's explanation as I understand it.
First: The cable modem can only have one legal user. You needed to understand one basic fact about how the cable modem works, i.e. ....When it is first powered up it recognizes one device as being the legal owner of its services and will only open the net gates for that device.
Second: ....It won't share that connection with a second computer. When you want to share your cable modem, you either have to turn it off and on to recognize a new user everytime you switch computers or you need to introduce a router into the mix.
Solution.....Fool the Cable modem to share the connection.
Your Airport base station acts as your router. You power off your cable modem and cable the Airport Express to it so that when you power up the modem, it recognizes the Airport as its legal user. the cablemodem thinks your base station is a computer. ...the computer that has the right to use the internet.
Now you power up your iBook and run the installer software that came with the Airport Express. The book explains the steps to follow in detail. Once the ibook is finding the Airport Express Station, and the software is installed, it connects to the internet. Since your ibook is finding & connecting to wifi at school, the most you should have to do is to say yes when it asks if it should connect to your base station at home.

The Airport Express Base Station makes one connection to the net which it shares with the computers which connect to it. But the Cable Modem never knows there's more than one computer.
SO 1. Reestablish that link at home using your ibook, then
2. Connect the Dell.
3. If the Dell doesn't connect, get back to us and we'll go from there
