I am stuck in Compressor ****.

I have a 45 min. FCPX project that I sent to compressor on 7-4-13. It's still compressing on 7-8-13. (Ac3 audio/MPEG 2 video) I know it's a big project, but is this normal? It will not allow me to cancel the project. Can someone help?

No. It's absolutely not normal.
Shut down your computer and re-start If the Compressor job still won't cancel, go to the History pnal and clear everything.
Moreover, I would avoid Send to Compressor and export master files. Drag those exported files into a Compressor batch, apply your presets, submit and you should have better luck. A 45 minute movie should tae about an hour, depending your processor.

  • Stuck at loading compressor settings

Final Cut Pro is stuck at compressor settings. What should I do?

Any luck? I'm stuck on this now too. I just lost 20 hours of work and now this. *** is wrong with FCPx?

  • Stuck on Waiting, Can't cancel unless through Compressor Repair.

Whenever I try to submit a batch, it just gets stuck on waiting.  If I try to cancel, it stays stuck on cancel.  I'm only able to clear the queue by running the Compressor Repair app from www.digitalrebellion.com.
Has anyone found a solution for this?

Ive just tried using the exact same settings a you described.  Single computer, single instance, and disabled any network sharing on it.
THIS appears to be working (transcode is still in progress as I type.) This is the first time Ive seen anything other than "waiting."  Whether it's using the GPU or not, I can't say yet.
I'm transcoding a 163GB movie and 3:30 minutes into the process it's already 1/8th done on the progress bar.
Thanks for sharing this, I hadn't tried this combination of settings yet.  Till now, it just wouldn't work at all for me.
I may have to do a timed test on both 4.0.5 and 4.1 to see if I'm seeing any improvement or not.
I am running this on a 2008 Mac Pro 3,1 with Dual 3GHz Quad-core processors, 16GB of 667MHz ram and a Nvidia Geforce GTX 650 TI Boost video card with 2GB of video ram.

  • Compressor 3.5 Stuck

    Hey,
I am trying to out put using the Share commant in FCP 7. The video is about 6 minutes long, and I am using the YouTube setting. It's been exporting now for about 20 minutes, and the time remaining keeps growing. In Batch Monitor the progress jumpped quickly to 10%, but has remained there sense. I have tried multiple times and tried running Compressor Repair from Digital Rebellion. It still gets stuck each time I send it. I do have FCP X and Compressor 4 installed on this same system, and I am wondering if that is creating a conflict, or if anyone else has another idea why I can't get this to export.
    Thanks.

I'm going to asume that your "QuicktTime with Great Qualty" is Pro Res 422, which used as a source file in Compressor can produce very good DVD encodes for DVDSP.
You may not need to adjust your settings at all. If your 16:9 mini dv was HDV, then you already have experience in going from HD to SD. However, if your tape camera shot SD anamorphic, you may find at least one adjustment helpful that wasn't necessary with an SD source. Specifically, activate Frame Controls and set the Resize Filter to Best.
    Good luck.

  • Compressor stuck in cancelling

After doing a clean install of Mavericks, Compressor is no longer working.  I sent a job for processing and it remained in "waiting" status for 10 minutes.  I tried to cancel the job by clicking the cancel button and the status shows "Canceling".  I went to Preferences and clicked "Reset Queue/Cancel Jobs.  It remains in canceling mode.

Quit (force quit if necessary. Go to your Home library/Application Support/Compressor/History/v4. Find the batch that's stuck and delete it.
Download Digital Rebellion's free Preference Manager and use it to trash the preferecnce files.
Hopefully that will get the app functioning the way it should.

  • Compressor 4.1.3 stuck at "processing"

I just updated my computer to the latest version and all of the sudden compressor either gets stuck on "processing" or my entire computer shuts down and restarts itself! Please help me out! This product used to work before the update!

It's concerning that using Compressor would cause a system crash and my inclination would be to take your Mac to a Mac-certified tec to have it checked out. Is the computer performing OK aside from Compressor? If you have FCP X, can you export without crashes? Have you recently installed any new software or hardware?
    What are your system specs?

  • Compressor gets stuck and task bar doesn't progress at all

I have set the settings I want compressor to do but, it gets stuck from after I press submit. Task bar doesn't "progress" and, all the jobs are in "waiting"
    Any ideas Anyone ?

I had a similar problem and Digital Rebellion's Compressor repair did not help but their FCS uninstaller did.
You will need all of your FCS discs because there are many shared elements related to Compressor and Q Master. It took a few hours but after I did this Compressor was back to normal.

  • Compressor/Batch Monitor get stuck!

    Hi,
    Does someone know this problem?
Most of the time Compressor works correct, but sometimes (1 out of 5) it just get stuck, somewhere during the process. (only with audio)
Is there anything I can do against this?

    Michiel,
Please post more information about your source files (format, lenght, etc) and the encoding preset you use.
That way more chances someone with similar jobs can help you.

  • Compressor Stuck @ 99% for the 4th time...

I successfully got project 1 of 2 out yesterday, workflow went like this:
(From FCP) "Send to: Compressor" Select destination/compression settings. Submit batch (3 different timelines to be encoded." In this instance, Compressor successfully completed all but one of the three videos to be compressed, the first time. I had to resubmit the smallest clip of the three, a second time. Compressor than completed the job.
    Next project (2 of 2)
Submitted two timelines to be encoded, via FCP>File>Send to>Compressor. First video encoded, second video got to 98% after 12 hours. Cancel encode, resubmit. Additional attempt....got to 99% after 3 hours. For third attempt, I first exported the clip as a "self-contained" quicktime file. Took that file into compressor, same result: 99% @ 3 hours.
It seems that my only experiences with Compressor have been this way. Crazy long encode times, and can't depend on it to finish any job I leave for it overnight.
For my 4th attempt, I will dump Compressor's history and restart.
Just finished my 4th attempt. Same failure...
Also, here is a sample of the log:
    <mrk tms="314175845.019" tmt="12/15/2010 23:04:05.019" pid="393" what="service-request" req-id="8F0A772D-93FB-4BA7-BFEA-3D3B9A6439DC:1" msg="Error: unrecognized request."></mrk>
    Here are the stats:
Macbook Pro 2.2 intel core 2 Duo,
    4GB RAM,
    OSX 10.5.8
    500GB Drive w/140GB available.
Graid 2TB Drive w/1.35TB available, all media held here.
    FCP 6.0.6
    Compressor 3.0.5

The format of my source clips is an ugly blend, as I used 3 different cameras to capture the footage. It was a wedding, shot with 2 panasonic cameras outputting DVCPRO HD 720p60 960x720, and one canon 7D doing close-ups and pickup shots, outputting apple prores 422 at 1080x1920. However, I transcoded all of the prores clips ahead of time, into the same codec and dimensions as the others.
Sequence Settings are DVCPRO HD 720p60, with a 23.98 editing timebase
I'm compressing into MPEG-2 for DVD playback.
I am trying compressor repair right now.
    I will un-instal/reinstall if this doesn't work.
I was curious how the multiple codecs might alter the output, but had successfully completed 3 other timelines with similar/identical content (relative to the codecs).

  • File exports stuck at 95% will not complete exporting process in Final Cut  X or Compressor.  Is there a fix?

In Final Cut X and Compressor 4 when outputting files the processing stops at 95%, and will not complete the job.  This happens with all of various export options except export media to a QuickTime file.  Anyone have an idea what could be causing this problem?
I have the most current iMac running the latest version of Lion.

I have tried everything, including starting threads here on the Apple Discussion Boards and on Creative Cow, etc. The 95% STALL is a bug.  What I have done is to create a hard drive with LION on it, then, when I want to use Compressor I reboot from that hard drive in Lion and then Compressor works fine.  It is a Mountain Lion issue, that is when it all started for me.
I thought the new update to Compressor, 4.0.5, would solve this and was really bummed when it didn't.
It would be great if someone (APPLE????) could figure this out......!!!!!

  • Using compressor, sound fine, but video is stuck

When i render a project 75 % of time, sound is fine but the video seems stuck. It just show one frame and flickrs like crazy.
I can try 2-3 times and suddenly it works.
But each rendering takes 8-10 hours, so it's a huge problem for me.
I am using the newest Mac Air with 4 gb ram.

  • Compressor is permanently stuck on waiting

I had a batch process set up and after the first couple of files it was clear that Compressor was going to take about three hours per file to process. The computer had to be shut down, so all the items were paused. Now whenever I try to run a process the Active window simply says waiting. No idea what or who it's waiting for. Trashed prefs and rebooted multiple times. The application is completely useless. It completely boggles the mind that there is no process reset function. It's currently a piece of garbage taking space on my hard drive. Any suggestion on how to reset this application so it's functional again? Thanks.

Thanks Russ. I had to do the whole folder before I got anything. Then when I ran Compressor I got this odd message
and the application became non-responsive. Force Quit. Trashed prefs. Open the App Support/Compressor folder and put back Settings and then the application ran again. Except that one of the files that had previously been processed using another OS, was overwritten during one of the tests while the app was in the Waiting mode (trashing History was not enough), so that had to be redone.
All in all an unpleasant experience and probably one that should be avoidable by the application. Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction.

  • Compressor stalls at 0:00:01 or 0:00:00 remaining

I'm using FCP 7.0.2 and sending a minute-long edit to compressor 3.5.2. I use the mpeg 2 program stream setting and everything seems to go fine until the 'remaining' countdown gets to :01 or :00.
From that point it just, well, sits there. For hours if I let it. There's no error message as such, but when I quit the background process and check the file destination it leaves an unreadable file that is huge. On the last try, after about twenty minutes of doing nothing, the file was 44gigs, the largest I've seen was over a hundred gigs so it seems like it's continuously writing even as it seems stuck.
I've had this setup for at least eight months and have output files this way successfully until now. Anyone have any ideas?

    I have a solution!
What I did was cut and past the clips into a new sequence in FCP and then resent it to Compressor. That seems to have solved everything. Clearly the error was being generated in FCP rather than Compressor.
Thanks to NLEdit for trying to help, it's appreciated!

  • Stuck on grey screen screen at start up...apparent Qmaster bug.

So I found what appears to be a bug. At least for me...and at least in 10.6. Not sure if this effects other OS versions.
I was having an issue with start up getting stuck on grey screen. Symptom is eventually start-up circle segments would stop spinning and left hanging there on the grey screen.
There are Apple doc's and ample google hits on this subject. But I have found nothing pertaining to Qmaster as being a possible cause.
It took me awhile to figure it out and was not an obvious issue.
I thought it might be helpful posting this here to bring this up on a google search for someone who may be having the same problem.
    My issue:
Doing image sequence Maya render's. However, I doubt it is Maya related.
If I pause the render in the Batch Monitor. And shutdown. Something with Qmaster still being active hangs my startup. It is repeatable behavior.
I have to start up holding shift key for safe mode.
You will note, if you have 'Show Qmaster service status in menu bar', under the Advance button of QM's System Pref's pane, that the green light is on.
That green light being on, gave me the clue that it was something to do with Qmaster.
Clicking; Stop Sharing and restarting clears the start up hang.
It appears, whatever permutations Qmaster expresses with a paused render on start up, is somehow preventing normal start up.
Since I have read that menu bar items may be one possible cause for start up issues. It's also possible and therefore worth mentioning that unchecking "Show Qmaster service status in menu bar". May also resolve the problem. I have not tested that.

Issues like this are often caused by startup jobs that are taking far too long to finish. It definitely looks like a serious bug so it's worth reporting it to Apple at either of the following places:

  • Cropping 16:9 video in Compressor for output in 3GPP format

    Hi all,
We need to regularly batch convert video for a client, from a 16:9 original to 3GPP's 176x144 ratio by cropping and resizing in Compressor. However, when setting up the encoding settings for 3GPP output, the Geometry fields are greyed out, meaning I can't crop the edges from the original.
The current workaround is to output the file first as an M-Peg (cropping it at this stage), and then re-encode that file in the 4 different 3GPP versions we need.
The question is, is there a better way to do this? Can I force the crop to take place at the same time as it's encoded to 3GPP, or, if we're stuck with a 2-stage encoding process, can I make Compressor automatically begin the re-encoding of the M-Peg file to 3GPP, as soon as the initial transcoding is complete (AppleScript, Automator?)
    Thanks

So, if I drop in my source, add an MPEG-2 preset (120 minute video) and then modify the aspect ratio drop down to 16:9, is there anything else I need to do to get the same result as the 16:9 preset in Compressor 2?
There shouldn't be anything else you need to do.
By the way, it should automatically detect aspect ratio (via the anamorphic flag in DV/SD QT files) but I suppose setting it manually couldn't hurt.
