If your phone is in recovery mode, all data are gone. Connect the phone to iTunes on your computer and restore.

There's no reason to think that Mountain Lion will slow down your Mac. Just make a backup of your data before upgrading with Time Machine > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1427
Also, check that your apps are compatible > http://www.roaringapps.com Upgrade them to a compatible version or delete them before upgrading.
The external drive won't make the OS X Mountain Lion installer fail, but it's better to unplug it during the upgrade.
iWork '08 is compatible with Mountain Lion. iWork '09 includes OS X Mountain Lion features and can be purchased at the Mac App Store.
To upgrade to OS X Mountain Lion, I recommend at least 4 GB of RAM. You can check how much memory you have in Apple menu > About this Mac

If you want to sync it to the iPad from that Mac, you need to upgrade it to at least 10.5.8.
If you want to copy the music to another Mac, you don't. Move the iTunes folder of the item in the Finder's sidebar over as you would any other folder. If you put it somewhere other than the Music folder, launch iTunes with the Option key held down and point it to that location.

What can I tune to make the database use less memory in a 1GB ram notebook?

Our notebook has 1GB ram only, running Windows XP Pro, Oracle10g Database, Oracle9i Application Server. It consumes about 1.4 - 1.5GB ram where it's already start using the virtual memory, therefore have some performance issue with it especially when try to startup the services.
I'm not a DBA but I would like to get some advice on what and how can I tune the database to use less memory since the notebook is used for demo application only, so we save memory resource and make the notebook runs faster.
Please advise.

In your case you could use 10g on XP. The only XP not supported is Home Edition.
Coming back to the issue, since 9iR2 Oracle recommendation is to provide 1G for each AS node (infrastructure and middle tier). If you have this on the same box, by itself on the Enterprise install will consume more than 1G.
Tuning 10g database won't make much difference. If you install AS 10gR2 it includes a 10gR1 Database as infrastructure database you could use for demo purposes.

Mac/Windows compatible CDs if they predate 2006 won't work with Mac OS X 10.7 or later unless you run Windows on your Mac, or run 10.6 in virtualization because old PowerPC Mac software are only supported through Mac OS X 10.6.8 with the software in 10.6 called Rosetta. Some of that software may not work if there are very particular PowerPC drivers that need addressing.
The Full Sims 3 is available for Intel Macs, according to these system requirements. I would contact them to determine if they have tested it in 10.7 or later, as they may be trying to access older code from PowerPC Macs that wasn't completely eliminated in 10.5.7, the minimum system they say it will run on. Be sure to find your GPU in the System Profiler and see if it meets those specs. Maybe you just need to patch the Sims package.
P.S. Some Windows users and developers aren't aware that Mac is the nickname for Macintosh, and MAC is the acronym for Media Access Control the hexadecimal code identifying certain network devices.

I have a new Iphone 4 and tried iCloud syncing. I now have a white screen and cannot turn the phone off. i did not download iTunes so I cannot perform a restore facility through iTunes. What can I do please?

I have upgraded from a 3gs and first backed up by 3gs through iCloud. I then logged on to iCloud on my new device and it synced my contacts. I entered my email addresses and then tried to download some of my App purchases. The screen then went white and I cannot now shut down the phone although I am hearing new emails coming through. Has the phone been unlocked officially? Has the phone been jailbroken in the past? If yes, these could be reasons for the behavior of the phone.

When it does that I can't do anything unless I just use the power button to shut the computer down or use the task manager to "End Process". I do not like to do either of these so I usually just sit and wait for it to fix itself then later it does it all over again.
Also when I was doing defrag on the file type tab it showed two Mozilla Firefox so I am wondering if this is the issue but I only see one in the control panel.

If Java 7 is not compatible with Mavericks, as an answer on another thread seems to indicate, what can I do to restore the functionality of programs that rely on Java 7?

Any ideas? One of the programs my wife uses is suddenly on the blink, and I just upgraded from Snow Leopard to Mavericks.

I'm not able to save any files on an none apple external hard drive, what can i do to make it work?

I bought a omega 320GB external hard drive so a friend could save the files off an old windows laptop i had but now when i try and open the files on my mac, it doesn't let me. i'm also not able to save any file on to this hard drive either! can some one please help me?

The drive has the NTFS format, which the Mac OS can read but can't write to. Copy the files from the external drive onto your Mac, then reformat the external drive using Disk Utility, creating a Mac OS Extended volume and using the GUID partition scheme. Then you'll be able to write to the drive. Note that reformatting erases everything from the drive, so don't do it until after you've saved the drive's contents to other media.

The arrow underneath windows side did not appear when I tried to use bootcamp

When I restarted my computer and held down the option key both icons came up for bootcamp but the PC side was missing the arrow. Then the arrow appeared and I clicked on it and the screen went black. Can anyone help? Do I need to take it to the Apple store or is it an OS issue? I am running Snow Leopard.

I think that I was asking two different questions at the same time, because the problem with the iPhone synchronization was solved, but the .Mac Address Book still has no new contacts... just the contacts before the Mac OS X update to Leopard. I guess that I will need to look for help in other discussion topic.
