I am thinking of buying the ipad and was wondering if my passport hard drive will connect to it so I can can movies of it?

As above

There are some wifi-enabled external drives that allow you to stream (but not copy) films to the iPad, you can't connect a drive via USB to the iPad.

I'm looking at buying an IPad and was wondering if it has the capacity to replace a video camera.  I'm looking at the 128GB version and I know there are many variables.  But I'm thinking that it should hold at least 60 mintues of video before needing it to be downloaded.  Thoughts?

If you want to record good video, get a camera.
iPads can record video but they lack almost all other useful features of a dedicated camera - eg a decent lens, the ability to zoom, reasonable audio, removable media, small form factor .... and on and on.

I'm thinking about buying a tablet, so was wondering if (a) can I install on a 2nd device (b) can I use the serial number online as I won't beable to install from a CD, and (c) will I beable to choose a mac, after the initial was on a PC???? Thanks Martin

A single user license allows for having activated installations on two machines. An Elements license allows for either platform in many cases (recently not the case from what I've seen).  If you have the disc, see if it contains the Mac installation files... if it does then you should be able to install them via a download as well.  I cannot answer with certainty for the last question since it relies on the previous question.  Personally, I would not let an inexpensive piece of software dictate an expensive hardware purchase decision.

Sorry, iPhones exposed to Salt Water, are pretty much destroyed. Salt Water is one of the most corrosive elements there is.

If I choose a hard drive ask my backup disk for time machine, will it clear out the data that was previously stored in my hard drive?

    Hello edjhsu,
Unless the drive is in a format that isn't compatible with Time Machine, the files will not be overrwitten. However it is typically a better idea to keep your files and your backup separate, especially since files on the Time Machine drive will not be backed up by Time Machine.

I did this on the iPad and now have to enter that passcode everytime I turn it on. How do I avoid needing to enter a passcode on my iPhone everytime I turn it on?

The passcode is a requirement set by the administrator of the Exchange server you are connecting to.
It is purely for security purposes.
If you do not want the passcode, you must remove the Exchange account. There is no way around it.

  • How do I take all my movies from the cloud and put them on an external hard drive

I am using an Apple TV and have bought about 145 movies.
The internet in my area is not very fast so I need to know how to put all of my movies on an external hard drive so i don't have to stream them through the internet.
All I would have to do is put the external hard drive on my shared devices.

    Greetings austinfromdellslow,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that you would like to store your purchases movies on an external hard drive. To do this, first you will need to download your purchased content from the cloud to the iTunes library on your computer.
Download past purchases - Apple Support
Once your media folder is complete with the downloaded content, you can move that iTunes media folder to your external hard drive using the information in the attached article below.

  • Can I store my music on the cloud and not on my macbook air hard drive?

I have an external hard drive for storage how does it work with the cloud? Can I listen without storing it on my laptop? Do I need another computer?

Purchases from iTunes will got to the cloud auromatically.
Imported CDs or MP3s from other vendors will need to be in an iTunes library to match, but once they're matched or uploaded can be deleted from iTunes and redownloaded as needed.
I'd keep a copy of your original stuff on an external drive though in case there are ever cloud problems or the service gets shut down.

  • What is the best way to backup all Photos, Videos, Music, and other documents so that I can basically clean up my laptop? I would like to keep all applications during the "reboot", and I already have an external hard drive.

I have filled up the 500 GB of internal storage on my Mid 2010 laptop, and I have no intentions of getting anything newer. I would like to backup basically everything so that I can pull it off a hard drive as needed, but I am worried if I "reboot" my laptop, I'll lose all files and applications.

You say that you already have an external hard drive? Of what capacity? With some libraries, it's simply a matter of dragging and dropping them to copy them to an external drive (such as videos, etc.). But you want to be a bit careful about moving your iTunes Library so you won't lose the links to your music (see -> http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1449 and http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1751) and photos (see -> http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1229?viewlocale=en_US).
Once you've established that your relocated Libraries are still functioning and that you've copied your movies, you can delete these items from your internal drive. You could, if you wanted, invest in a larger internal drive so that you could always have your data stored so that you can take it with you, of course.
But if you safely move all of your files to an external, you can trash the originals and make space on your internal drive.

  • Thinking of trying Firefox4 beta and was wondering if it works with Facebook yet?

I was just wondering if FireFox 4 beta is ready for Facebook... I play alot games on facebook and I dont want to do the upgrade/test before I find out if it is going to work with the games I play. Any answer would be appreciated.

    Hello,
Yes, Apple TV can play movies that are stored on the TC with the usual caveats...
You can only stream movies (and music for that matter) on the Apple TV which are available through a connected iTunes library. Therefore, you'd have to have your mac turned on and iTunes opened when watching the film. You can add movies sotred in another location to iTunes, just make sure whe you add the movie that iTunes doesn't copy to it's local library.
If you sync the files to your Apple TV they will be available from the ATV HDD and your mac can be turned off when playing the movie.
I run this system at home - My movies on the TC and streaming to the ATV. I have to leave my Macbook on when watching a movie but it's not a big hassle.
    Hope this helps.

  • I recently bought my first mac and am wondering if my external hard drive that I used with my pc will be compatible?

I know that it will not be formatted for a mac, so does that mean I will be able to pull up information but not change or add to the content at all?

    MelK1983 wrote:
    How do I know that?
Use Disk Utility which can be found in Applications - Utilities.  Select the external drive in the left-hand sidebar and info will appear at the bottom of the window, including formatting information.

  • After I upgraded iPhone4 to iOS5.0.1, the iPhone screen was shown a picture which request me to connect it to iTunes.  I can do nothing on my phone includes dialing emergency call.

After I upgraded my iPhone4 to iOS 5.0.1, the iPhone screen was locked and it has shown a picture which requested me to connect my iPhone to iTunes.  My iPhone can do nothing now.
I've tried to deleted my iTunes and downloaded the latest version.  However, when I plugged in my iPhone4, the plug-in sound is different from before and it cannot be detected by iTunes.
    Please kindly help.

So whenever you plug the iPhone into the USB port your computer doesn't recognize it???? At all?? Can you check on the hardware of your pc if by any chance is the USB being detected; like it will appear and then diss connect  from the pc, just to check and make sure that something is changing, of nothing occurs I will doubt on the cable, you can get one and then return it if it's not the case.
If it is detected then did you backup the iPhone? If so you may need to rollback the change.
    Please try!
    Good luck

  • Football manager handheld: I am playing a game of this on my iPad and was wondering if I can get the same game on my iPhone when I go out the house? Is there a way of syncing them together so the same game is on both devices?

Is there a way of syncing my game to bothe devices an iPhone 4s and an iPad 2 bro!

You can sync the saves between devices by using the Apple sharing through iTunes to copy save games (and other items) on and off from a device.
    - Connect your iPod/iPad/iPhone to your computer
    - Open iTunes, then select the device in the panel at the left
    - Select 'Apps' then at the bottom you should notice an area called 'File Sharing'
    - Select 'FM 2012' or 'FM 2011' (depending on which game you have) from the apps listed and you'll see a handful of files in the panel on the rightAny ".dat" files are saved games and you'll have up to 5 of them. "hidden.dat" is the autosave file, while "fm_save1.dat" through to "fm_save4.dat" are manually saved files named according to their position in the save slots.
