I am THRILLED with the Warp Stabilizer

I recently came back from a ten-day filming trip across the deep south. It was my first field experience using DSLR (two Canon 7Ds). I shot everything handheld with no support, with the Warp Stabilizer in mind. The results have been AMAZING beyond my expectations. Some of these shots rival the best steadi-cam, dolly and jib shots I have seen. At times, the camera seems to be floating or hovering. This is just awesome.

We're glad you like it.

  • I have a problem with the Warp Stabilizer in Adobe Premiere Pro CC on mac

If I want to apply the Verkrümmungsstabilisator on a clip, suddenly only a small neckline of the clip appears in the upper left corner when the effect has finished analyzing. The rest of the clip appears black. Why is that? Is this some wrong settings, I've met?

    Hi skwosnjak,
Please try to switch the renderer to software only mode, So, go to File Menu>Project settings>General and change the Renderer option to Software only Mode.

  • How  do you get the Warp Stabilizer VFX to work in After Effects CC?

Upon launching the Warp Stabilizer VFX an error message appears:  "After Effects error. Couild not launch Adobe Analysis Server. (515) (25 101)"  Am running MAC OSX 10.9.2  An error message also appears on launching After Effects CC:  "Quicktime is not installed on the system. Some components will not work correctly." This OS  is supposed to have Quicktime installed. Has anyone had this same problem with the warp stabilizer and been able to solve it?  I am restoring old movies and this function is essential.

You need to check your user permissions and firewall network stuff. Something is simply blocking the connections.

  • 5 things which should be improved in the Warp Stabilizer

    1. Performance.
When stabilizing any footage I always ask myself: "What the heck is he doing there?!" not even a single core is really working hard. It looks like an idle background process  The GPU is idle as well, as the analysis pass is only run on the CPU.
This maybe okay if you still need much work to do in Premiere. But often, the next steps DEPEND on the stabilization and you have to WAIT and WAIT and WAIT...
It's just painful to imagine that, running a machine with 8 cores, more than 8 times the amount of video material COULD be analyzed.
The free Deshaker for Virtualdub actually uses more cores (even though not at 100%) but analyzes at about 20-21fps compared to the Warp Stabilizer at about 4-8fps.
Admitted, the Deshakers results aren't nearly as good (especially with rolling shutter, which can be configured though, but you don't always know the right percentage for the cam you're using).
This also applies to opening projects with much stabilization data. It opens... and opens... rarely any disk activity and rarely any CPU or GPU activity. Again: WHAT IS HE DOING THERE? Just waiting for the clock itself?! Or is he sending it all to the NSA? That at least would explain the unneccesary delay:P (just kidding!)
    2. Stabilization data.
For me, I wouldn't have any problem with storing it just inside a project folder or a separate file. Just add a checkbox into the plugin settings:
[x] Store stabilisation data in separate file/folder.
This may be then called [projectName].stabilization
Inside that folder, there will be maybe one file for every effect used in the project.
...or you can use the old way, if you don't have so much stabilization work to do.
    3. Small bugs.
When using "stabilize only", the resulting frame, at least in Premiere Pro, has a HUGE "DC offset" sometimes. This is a term from music producing, but exactly fits in here. You can clearly see it when there are still images that shouldn't receive much of stabilization. They're somtimes shifted far out of the viewing frame, leaving big black borders, so you have to manually adjust the frame position to fit back into a "neutral" position. This could be resolved to let the whole correcting curve undergo something like a "low pass filter" which will try to keep the resulting frame SOMEHOW centered.
In this image above, from a longer clip, there isn't much motion at all. But you can see how far the offset from the actual video frame is. I have to do this for almost every video, also after I change the "smoothness" setting.
    4. More control
I would LOVE to be able to disable "zoom detection", because it gives me lots of "Vertigo Effects" in many cases.
I heard this has been alredy addressed for CC.
    5. Improvements / new features
One thing I always do with every stabilized video:
Instead of synthesize edges, which takes AGES to render, I just do the following:
I place the same clip, unstabilized, behind the stabilized clip (stabilized, borders only) and give the stabilized clip softened borders with "rough edges". This even still renders fine on the GPU.
This would make a great option for the stabilizer. Just call it "overlay over original with blurred edges" or something like that.
This has worked extremely well for any stabilized footage so far and isn't nearly as disturbing as the synthesized edges.
I'm considering to join the Creative Cloud, because unless I do this I don't expect to see any improvements in my old and out-dated Premiere PRO CS6...

  • How to make the warp stabilizer analyze interlaced (upper + lower field) instead of progressive?

I am having a little problem since I am new to Premiere pro.
Until now I always used the warp stabilizer in After Effects for single shots in need of that. But this time, I was handed a project that requires a whole lot of stabilization. My plan is to drop the whole timeline (FCP 7/ProRes422 HQ Interlaced) via XML into Premiere Pro and apply the effect there to multiple clips.
PROBLEM: When I do this, the warp stabilizer always (no matter how I interpret the footage or set the sequence) analyzes the footage progressively. At least that is what the effect preferences tab says during analysis.
In After Effects I always see which field is beeing analyzed (it is indicated by a L and an U behind the frame count). Not so in Premiere Pro. Here it always seems to analyze full frames.
I made a test and compared the results from After Effects and Premiere Pro: The file generated in Premiere Pro is much softer then the one out of After Effects even though I export both with the same output settings.
Any help would be greatly appreciated !

I just verified and the Description for Products (and possibly other objects too) are stored in table COMM_PRSHTEXT.
The relevant Data element is COMT_PRSHTEXTX which has the domain PRSHTEXT40.
If you look at this domain you have a parameter "lowercase" which is available as a flag option.
<u><b>The explanation about this Flag is the following:</b></u>
    Lowercase letters allowed/not allowed
If this flag is set, upper case and lower case are distinguished when you enter values with screen masks.
Otherwise all the letters entered will be converted to upper case when you enter values with a screen mask.
This mechansim is in effect for all the fields referring to this domain.
<b>Solution would be</b> to verify if for this data-element the same Domain is used.
If yes, you can flag this option in the domain.
    this should solve your problem.

  • Where is the Warp Stabilizer plugin located in After Effects CS6 program files?

I need to delete the plugin temporarily to gain access to my project because it constantly crashes on start up due to the Warp Stabilizer.

NOt sure if you can actually remove it,but it should be in the plugins/extensions sub-folder inside the AE install folder. Anyway, try the usual troubleshooting first before taking such a radical step that may destroy AE and require a reinstall. Flush the caches, open the project with capslock and remove the effect.

  • HAS THE WARP STABILIZER CHANGED OR IMPROVED IN ANY MANNER IN After Effects 6.0?

It was quite an improvement over point tracking alone.
Have there been substantial further advances in the Warp Stabilizer in AE 6?
Also, has Mocha AE changed in any manner?
    Thanks!
    Matt Dubuque

Have there been substantial further advances in the Warp Stabilizer in AE 6?
What would be "substantial"? No, apart from a few minor workflow and performance enhacements there have been no changes.
Also, has Mocha AE changed in any manner?
You still get mocha 2.x, just a slightly newer version, not mocha 3.

  • NOT thrilled with the customer service I just received.

I just ended a call with a customer service representative by the name of Amber.
Like the many users on this forum, I was up at 12:00am on 9/12 pre-ordering 2 Iphone 6+ 128g devices.  Throughout the pre-order process, I was shown a delivery date of no later than 7:00pm on Sept. 19th.  I submitted my order within minutes, only to wake up to an e-mail with a delivery date of 10/7/14.  I called customer service that day and was told that I would have the phones on Sept. 19th despite what the email said.  Now five days later,  my order status remains "we received your order and it is in process" and the Expected Ship Date is "Not available at this time."  Further, my credit card has yet to be charged.  Other users on this forum submitted their orders for the same phones after me, yet have receveid tracking numbers showing a deliver date of Sept. 19th.
While on the phone with Amber, she suggested that I go to a retailer on Friday to see if I can get the devices.  Needless to say, I was quite offended by her recommendation.  I reminded her that I intended on renewing two contracts with Verizon in exchange for two phones being in my hands on Friday.  I also suggested that if she wants me to go to a retailer, then Verizon runs the risk of losing my longstanding account if another provider provides me with a better deal.  She then back tracked and said that was not what she was trying to suggest.
Verizon, I would like to speak or deal with a customer service rep who can give me assurance that my pre-ordered phones will be delivered on 9/19 as was promised when I placed by pre-order just minutes after they went up for pre-sale.  With all due respect, I am looking for answers, not a link to an order status page that I have been checking far too often over the last five days.  Thank you.

        GMSwaim88,
Thank you so much for those details. We strive to provide you with the best customer service there is to offer. I have sent you a private message. Please respond back to that message for me.

  • Warp stabilizer ?  how do get it not to distort the footage

hi,  almost any time i try to stabilize footage with the warp stabilizer, i end up with this trippy looking footage with objects bending and distorting.
is there any way to stabilize footage in premiere without this happening ? thanks

    THANKS GUYS !
yep, JSS1138 i know i should have shot it with a tripod of course,  but there are times when this option is not available to us, hence the existence of this plugin. right?
the tutorial was helpful, thanks    but it did not clearly address the question of the warping footage.  after a play around with the settings,  though i find that using "position" instead of "subspace warp" seems to get me the result i want.
for those of you who know.... what is the trade off in increasing the smoothness?  does it make the end result more blurry?     thanks

  • AE project crashes on startup - due to Warp Stabilizer and Highlight/Shadow

I've got a head scratcher here...
Firstly, I have been working on this project file for several days with no problems. Everything was running smoothly... working, tweaking, rendering... all successful.
A couple days after doing a final render, I went to re-open the project and got these two errors, followed by AE crashing:
To the best of my knowledge, I changed nothing on my system.
I've tried removing my 3rd parth plugins (Video Copilot Optical Flares, Element, etc...) but to no avail. The program still crashes when opening this file.
I've since installed the updates to AE CS 6, but still no luck.
Removing Warp Stabilizer and Shadow/Highlight allow me to open this project file (obviously telling me that its missing both).
I've tested out both plug-ins in a different file, and I'm able to open those no problem.

    Any thoughts???

We've isolated the bug that is causing this behavior. It seems to only affect instances of the Shadow/Highlight effect on an adjustment layer over layer(s) with the Warp Stabilizer.
There are a couple of workarounds:
    - One is to remove the Shadow/Highlight plug-in from the plug-ins folder and then open the project (and then fix the project to not have this effect on an adjustment layer over a Warp Stabilizer instance).
    - Another is to precompose the layer(s) with the Warp Stabilizer effect.
We're working on a fix for this.

  • Warp Stabilizer won't work properly

    Hi!
I have After Effects CC on my Mac and since yesterday I have a problem with the Warp Stabilizer. It only works after the first few frames. It won't stabilze the first frames and I don't know why.
    Do you have any suggestions?
    Thank you!

Okay sorry, its just I work with the warp stabilizer since CS6 and didn't have any problems yet.
    After Effects CC 12.2.1.5.
    System:
    Mac OSX 10.9.1. (Mavericks)
    3,4 Ghz Intel Core i7
    32 GB 1600 Mhz DDR
    240GB SSD
The footage is a 25fps jpeg sequence (timelapse that I want to stabilize).
    Comp Settings:
    HDTV 1080 25
I stabilzed hundreds of timelapse clips this way and I didn't change anything on my workflow

  • Optimizing Warp Stabilizer processing time

I just want to share my experience with the warp stabilizer and ask if you have other ideas to make warp stabilizer works faster.
If some of you knows anyway to makes analysis faster please share it.
So far I tried two different memory/ram settings:
    Mode 1:
    Mode 2:
Analysis takes the same time with both settings but render to file took less than 1/5 with setting shown in mode 2.
If you work your shaky clips in Premiere, replacing them with AE composition, I notice that it takes much less time to render the stabilized clip in AE to a new file and then manually replace it in premiere timeline than rendering the preview in premiere. Lot of difference in time.
    Please share any experience related
    Thanks

I'm not sure that warp stabilizer will process in the background with multiple comps. I'd create a new project, create two or 3 compositions from the clips, add warp stabilizer to each of them but close all of the comp timelines except one. I'd then open up AME and add the AE project and all the Compositions to the cue and give it a go. You'll be able to tell if that works.
If it doesn't then you'll have to open all 40 comps in the timeline and let each percolate overnight before rendering.
If it were me I'd make a rough cut of your project first so that I had an idea of exactly whick portion of which shots I needed then I'd stabilize only those sections.

  • Warp Stabilizer Analyze Data - where does it really save?

    Hello,
I had cut 4 episode documentary series on a macPro with CS6. I had used the Sub Space Warp stabilizer feature on many of the clips. All clips had been stabilized and I saved the project on our server with the projects files, preview files and Auto save files.
I then got a computer upgrade to a new macPro with more RAM - graphic - and processing power.  Yay! I have CS6 and CC installed on this.
I received the final design elements to insert into the series  ( the L3 and titles and credits ) and went to go and export the project off the server from this new computer.
It seems that all of the clips that I have used the Sub Space Warp Stabilizer need to be re-analyzed again, as the exports had the orange banner across the clips stating that it is being analyzed.
My question is, does Premier have to reanalyze the clips again because I have a new computer and the Sub Space warp data doesn't save with the project files but instead locally on the machine that edited the project?
If so, can I get all the project data and cache to save with the project files?
When I started this project, as with any project, I direct all the save elements and caches to a specific drive location, so various computers can work with the edit, and for efficiency. I don't think that the Sub Space Warp analyze data gets off the local computer drive... Am I wrong?
    Any comments are appreciated.
    Thank for your help.

I see that now as well. Yes thank you for your reply there Snarky.
I wonder why my exports had the orange analyze banner across the clips with the Warp Stabilizer on it.
You figure with that data stored in the project file, it would just load up with the project,
and when the software says "All media Loaded"  - that I wouldn't have to go back to each clip and get it to re-analyze for stabilization.
    So time consuming.
I hope that is is an isolated incident.
This doesn't not seem to be the case, as I am not alone.
    pass warp stabilizer between computers?
    Reanalyzing Warp Stabilized Clips
    Thank you Snarky McSnarkster

  • Dynamic link warp stabilizer 5.5 issues

Been messin around with the demo while I patiently wait for my upgrade to 5.5 and I've come across an issue with the warp stabilizer when sending multiple clips from the timeline to and from PPro 5.5. If I send out a clip, use warp stabilizer in AE and save the project the results are fantastic and it's right there on the timeline. Groovy.. Until I send another clip out. The second clip looks great in AE... stabilizes fine. Save project as new name in AE, exit... back to PPro and the clips will be the same! It'll duplicate the first stabilized clip! Sometimes I can delete the instance from the timeline, and drag the AE comp from the bin back to the timeline and it'll work until I do another clip then it'll be a duplicate again. Also, sometimes it'll flicker from one comp to the new comp and back again. Like it's confused about which comp to play in PPro. I'm hoping that when I export it'll be fine, but this seems quite serious.
I've tried dumping the cache, cleaning out the project, saving the AE comp projects to different folders and drives. Doesn't seem to matter.
    Oh... btw.. specs:
    i7 970
    Asus P6x58D-e
    24GB G-Skill 1600 kit
    C: Revodrive 2 120GB SSD
D: WD Black 1TB for apps (not Adobe apps, they are on the SSD)
E: WD Black 2TB for video
I: Removable dock with 1TB Samsung spinpoint F3
    F: LG BDR
MSI GTX 560 Ti OC (Works great with MPE modified .txt file!)
Win 7-64 Pro (because of 24GB)

This bug has nothing to do with Warp Stabilizer, it affects all DL's and has been around from the beginning.
It is a PITA.  If you keep all your compositions in the "same" AE project it seems to work better.  If you do a "save as" and rename AE project the bug will appear again.
    Also DL's are always "un-linking" for some reason in CS5, CS5.01, CS5.02 and CS5.03.
I hope CS5.5 fixes this issue.
