I am transferring to a new itunes account

- I know how to use the transfer apps tab but will it also pull through all the purchase history (useful if it does because I often delete and then reinstall apps!).  It helps with memory management this way but the point is does transferring to a new itunes account only transfer current apps or let you have a record of the old apps purchased as well?   Thanks all!!!

You can't "transfer" any purchased iTunes content from one iTunes account to another. That's basically merging iTunes accounts, which cannot be done at the present.

Set it up using the AppleID you used on the previous iPhone.

  • Transferring iPad to new iTunes account

My wife aand I have been sharing an iTunes account. After addding her new iPad to the account, it has become obvious that she should be using her own iTunes account. How do I transfer her iPad and iPod to a new account?

Do you want to use the same computer/iTunes and just have separate iTunes store logins or have a different computer/computer login for each, giving you a fresh iTunes for your wife?
If the first, then that is simple, your wife will just need to log you out (if you forget) and log herself in when going to the iTunes store, you will both have access to each other music, apps, books etc.
If you want a clean iTunes for your wife, you will need another computer or a login on your computer for your wife. This will give a clean iTunes.
If your wife would like some of your music/apps/books etc you can copy your iTunes files onto her login and add them to her iTunes library, it does not matter if they are purchased as iTunes will let you have multiple account purchased items in a single iTunes.
Alternatively you can make your iTunes folder shared and then on your wifes login (once you check the share works) open iTunes and change the iTunes Library location under Preferences in iTunes to the share of your iTunes folder.

  • HT1918 Is it possible to start a new iTunes account and transfere all purchase data from an existing iTunes account then keep both accounts active but separate from that point onwards?

We have a family iTunes account but we are now wanting to separate into 2accounts for financial reasons. Is it possible to transfere all purchased material into a new iTunes account then continue to have the 2seperate accounts with separate billing information going forward.

All content from iTunes is tied to the account that originally bought/downloaded it, and it's not currently possible to copy or transfer content to a different  account.  You can create a new account for new purchases, and as long as the current account is authorised on the computers iTunes that you use then you should be able to continue using that content.
Note that if you use iTunes match, turn on automatic downloads or re-download past purchases for an account then you risk tying that computer to that account for 90 days : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4627

You should never update without making sure your backup copy of your computer is up to date.

  • I just got my first Apple product (ipod touch) and am needing to know how to transfer music from another itunes list. Can music that is currently on another ipod and/or computer be transferred to my new touch and my new itunes account? Thank you!

Recently purchased my first Apple product (ipod touch) and am needing to know how to transfer music from other ipods and other itunes accounts. Can this be done? I have plugged in another ipod into my new itunes account and it will not let me transfer the music that it contains into my new account. Any/all help is much appreciated. Thank you!

  • I have mistakenly opened up a new iTunes account. Can I transfer purchases from one account to the other?

I have recently bought a new iPad mini and tried to set it up and share with my old iTunes account.
I thought I was changing email addresses for contact info, but was actually setting up a new iTunes account and paid for the £21 a year sharing service.
I have a few (not many) tunes purchased on my old iTunes account.
Is there a way of merging/closing my old account and transferring purchases across to the new iTunes account?
I could swap between the two, but doing that on the phone/ipad will mean I cannot swap back for 90 days!!!!!
    Thanks

Did you ever get around to transfer purchases from your old iPhone to iTunes in your computer.  If you did, your ringtone will be there and all you need to do is sync it back to your new iPhone.
Ringtones can only be downloaded once from the iTunes Store that is why the user guides recommend that you transfer purchases from the iPhone to the computer.
If you never synced your old iPhone to iTunes, then you need to do that now so that you can get your ringtone on your new iPhone.

  • Is there a way to transfer purchased songs from one iTunes account to a new iTunes account?

This is a bit difficult to explain so bear with me! My two little sisters, years ago, started buying music off the iTunes store. It was my account so now i have all their purchased songs and apps on my account. At the time they were too little to have thier own email so I just let them do it on mine, I didn't see any problem with it. However, now that I am on iCloud and they all have iphones, I am stuck with all their contacts, music, games, etc. I do not want their music so I am wondering if there is a way to transfer their purchased items onto a new iTunes account that I will set up for them (they are in high school now and have their own emails, etc.) I have searched online and haven't found a solution to this. Please help! I understand that only one account can have rights to a song, but I would like to transfer their purchased songs to a new account.

Purchases cannot be transferred to a new Apple ID.
You can stop receiving their info by signing out of iCloud.

  • HT1918 why do i have to create a new itunes account because I moved to Canada from the U.S.?

why do i have to create a new itunes account because I moved to Canada from the U.S.?( My current account won't let me change my address to canada so my billing address for account is incorrect, making it impossible for me to buy anything). Will it affect what I am able to put on my device i.e. already downloaded apps, music, etc?

    This is not possible...
Anything Downloaded with a Particular Apple ID is tied to that Apple ID and Cannot be Merged or Transferred to a Different Apple ID.

  • I want to create a new itunes account but keep the content.  Is this possible?

My family has always used one Itunes account for all devices.  Now it is necessary for us to create a new itunes account.  We want to keep the apps, music etc that we each have now.  How can I do this?  Is this even possible?

I hope this isn't too wordy but I want to be as clear and explicit as I can for you.
You can't transfer purchases from one account to another account. Apple doesn't allow it.
You can continue to use your daughter's Apple ID in order to continue to use the apps that you purchased with her ID and you will need to use her ID and password any time that you want to update those apps. What you do want to avoid is having to download any of those purchased apps again on any other devices - if you create a new Apple ID.
If you create a new ID and then you sign into her ID in order to download a previous purchase-  you will lock yourself out of the new ID for 90 days and there is nothing that you can do about it. So as long as you do NOT download any past purchases with her ID - you will not lock yourself out of the new ID. So you can keep using the apps that were bought with her ID, you can also update those apps using her ID (you have to sign into her account in Settings>Store) but you can't download past purchases without messing things up with your new ID.
When you download a past purchase with a different ID - you associate that device with the different ID for 90 days. This is one way that Apple hopes to cut down on pirating of apps - friends using other friends IDs in order to download apps without patting for them.
This explains it in a little more detail.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4627
The bottom line is that you can create a new ID, still use her ID - judiciously - but you really want to avoid downloading past purchases with her ID. Transfer all of those purchases into iTunes so that if something happens and you need the purchased content again, you can just sync it again rather than downloading it.
    This explains transferring purchases.

  • How can i transfer my songs from my nano to a new itunes account because when i try to it tells me that i need to errase whatever is on the nanno ans then i can sync whats on my itunes but i want to put these songs and store them onto this new itunes acc

how can i transfer my songs from my nano to a new itunes account because when i try to it tells me that i need to errase whatever is on the nanno ans then i can sync whats on my itunes but i want to put these songs and store them onto this new itunes acc

Your i-device was not designed to be a reliable unique storage for your media. It is not a backup device and everything is structured around you maintaining your media on a computer which is itself backed up. Sync transfer is one way, computer to device, matching the device content to the content on the computer. If the computer has nothing on it, the device is set to match the computer's content -- nothing. The exception is purchased content.
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848 - only media purchased from iTunes Store
For transferring other items from an i-device to a computer you will probably have to use third party commercial software unless you have an older model iPod. Examples (check the web for others; this is not an exhaustive listing, nor do I have any idea if they are any good):

  • If I make a new iTunes account, can I transfer my music and apps to it?

Okay so about 2 years ago, I went to my friend's house so that she could put music on my iPod and ever since then I've had an iTunes account through them (using their apple id to have a playlist, get apps, etc.) but recently I had tried to get a new app and when I entered the password for their account, it said that it was an incorrect password. I tried the password multiple times to see if I maybe typed it wrong but still there was no luck so my guess is that they changed the password forgetting that I was using the account, too.
So basically I just made this iTunes account to ask this question and I'm onderin if I reconnect my iPod with this account will I be able to transfer my music? (If this helps, I have the iPod touch 4th generation)

I'm not using their money like I don't have any of their songs or apps. Everything that I have I downloaded it myself. The apps are no problem if they can't be transferred because they're all free ones I just want to know if there's a way to sync the songs on my iPod that I physically downloaded myself to my new iTunes account.

  • Create new itunes account and transfer music on same computer

I started an itunes account on my home computer which my niece would use. When she got a computer at her house, she also downloaded itunes. Instead of creating her own account, she used my account name and password. I purchase itunes cards instead of having my credit card number on my account. After loading the funds, I would return later to make a purchase and would not have any money left. I didn't think it was possible for her to have access to my funds at her home, since anything we added/purchased was not accessible at the others home. The last time I added money, I made a point to keep up with how much I used as a test to see if she was able to use my account balance. I tried to make a purchase this weekend and only had $.62, so apparently she can use it. She now needs to open a new itunes account on her home computer. Can she easily open a new account and transfer all music to the new account with playlists? Sorry this is so long...Your help is appreciated!

She can (assuming she has a credit card, iTunes Music card or gift certificate) certainly open an account.
But tracks purchased under your iTMS account will remain under your account and cannot be transferred to another account. The tracks can be copied to her computer - see:
iTunes: How to copy music between authorized computers
Though it refers to iTMS purchased music, it applies to all her tracks. And if she happens to also own an iPod:
How to use your iPod to move your music to a new computer
But her computer will have to be authorized to your account at least once for her system to be able to play the tracks she's already purchased. Once the system is authorized, you'll want to change your password to your iTMS account or she'll be able to continue to purchase using your account.

  • How to start over with a new itunes account on an old computer

my daughter transferred all her music from my computer, where she had her itunes account, to her new computer and then went off to college. i can finally use itunes for my own music. how do i get rid of her millions of tunes and change the account info from her to me on what used to be a shared computer and is now all mine?
i tried many times to set up a new itunes account but get caught in a vicious loop. i also believe her massive volume of tunes has made my computer sluggish and hope wiping the itunes slate clean will improve processing speed.
    della corwin

Create a new user account on the computer. That is the freshest way. Make sure you designate it as an administrator.
As for her old music/account, if you are 100% sure you no longer need it, you can delete the entire account from the "System Preferences -> Accounts" control panel. Log in using an existing or new Administrative account, to do this. It will provide an option to save the Home folder and the users settings/files. If you are indeed having space issues, and again you are 100% positive she will no longer need anything she had there, you can choose to delete.
