unfortunately the do_not_trust certificates might be a sign of unwanted software present on your pc that is intercepting secure network traffic. please go into the system control panel and uninstall programs like BrowserSafeguard, BrowserSafe, SafeGuard or other software that sounds suspicious and didn't get installed by you intentionally.

afterwards, run a full scan of your system with different security tools like the [http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free free version of malwarebytes] & [http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/adwcleaner/ adwcleaner].

  • Firefox (latest versions) on both Mac 10.6 and Windows 7 show "this Connection is Untrusted" on my bank site

This started for me 1/17/2011 on the savingsbank.com website:
Firefox (latest versions) on both Mac 10.6 and Windows 7 show "this Connection is Untrusted" on my bank site https://www.savingsbank.com
NO other browsers - Explorer, Chrome, Safari - give this error box on this site. Please advise if this has to do with the bank site? or Firefox compatibility.
Saw in a forum someone else having this problem and they were told it had to do with their Date and time being off?? I've been on several computers, all with the correct date and time and they've all shown this Insecure Certificate statement on my bank site with Firefox and no other browser.

I've looked at the banking site with IE8 and it does NOT show me that "This connection is Untrusted" window. (please see attached screen shot of viewing the site with IE8) It opens fine and has "Identified by Network Solutions" showing on the address bar as it always does.
The latest version of Opera (not earlier ones) does show a problem with the website's security certificate.
We've contacted the bank about this, and they say there's no problem with their certificate but are looking into it.
My question remains, why only Firefox and one version of Opera claim this and NO other browser?

  • How do I get rid of the "This Connection is Untrusted" message?

I have used my firefox browser for 1 1/2 without any problems. Now all the sites I go to give me the warning message that "This Connection is Untrusted." I can no longer access email or my university website to see my grades- nothing works. Even when I click that I understand the risks and verify the certificate, I can still only get so far- but it's never all the way to where I need to be.
How can I get rid of this annoying problem?

Thanks jscher2000 and cor-el for your help! It turns out it was a date and time issue. I'm glad to say it's all fixed now! Thanks again!

  • "This connection is untrusted" message on many (most?) sites (including some of Mozilla's) with V16.0.1.

    "This connection is untrusted"
This message box pops up with most sites and links since I updated Firefox. This includes basic links in troubleshooting articles such as the SSL test and other "try this" links on the troubleshooting page. I have NOD antivirus and firewall enabled, and have no issues with other search engines (Explorer and Chrome). I like Mozilla and don't want to abandon it. Please help.
Facebook was the first, but there are too many to list.

I reset my date to resolve a printer issue earlier today. the messages started after this, I've now reset the date to the correct one and bingo - all is well again.
maybe a longshot for you but check it anyway.

  • As of today I get "This connection is untrusted" message for EVERY website, including all the ones that I've bookmarked and been using for years.

It's not an exception problem, as I get it on all the websites I try to visit and all of these have worked for years.

Who is the issuer of the certificate?
You can retrieve the certificate and check details like who issued certificates and expiration dates of certificates.
*Click the link at the bottom of the error page: "I Understand the Risks"
Let Firefox retrieve the certificate: "Add Exception" -> "Get Certificate".
*Click the "View..." button and inspect the certificate and check who is the issuer of the certificate.
You can see more Details like intermediate certificates that are used in the Details pane.
If <b>"I Understand the Risks"</b> is missing then this page may be opened in an (i)frame and in that case try the right-click context menu and use "This Frame: Open Frame in New Tab".
*Note that some firewalls monitor (secure) connections and that programs like Sendori or FiddlerRoot can intercept connections and send their own certificate instead of the website's certificate.
*Note that it is not recommended to add a permanent exception in cases like this, so only use it to inspect the certificate.

  • Cannot access any https sites, clock is OK, get This Connection is Untrusted error message.

All works OK on Chrome and IE, but Firefox just suddenly stopped access to https sites yesterday, e.g. Google, Facebook and Linkedin. Non secure http sites are OK though. "This Connection is Untrusted" is the error message and technical details are www.google.com.tw uses an invalid security certificate. The certificate is not trusted because no issuer chain was provided. (Error code: sec_error_unknown_issuer). I've tried all the Mozilla support suggestions, clock (which was always correct), reset Firefox, etc. No change so far, I hope you can help fix this issue.

Check the date and time and time zone in the clock on your computer: (double) click the clock icon on the Windows Taskbar.
Check out why the site is untrusted and click "Technical Details to expand this section.<br>If the certificate is not trusted because no issuer chain was provided (sec_error_unknown_issuer) then see if you can install this intermediate certificate from another source.
You can retrieve the certificate and check details like who issued certificates and expiration dates of certificates.

can any one guide me to resolve this issue...

Is that content loaded in an iframe?
You can check that via the right-click context menu to see if there is a "This Frame" item.<br />
If that is the case then try top open the frame in a new tab or otherwise check the Technical Details of the error message.

  • Firefox Nightly keeps bugging me with "This Connection is Untrusted" on every single site I visit

So I am trying out the new FireFox Nightly, as it was suggested by a friend to me. Now I am liking it at first, but when I remove all my old FireFox stuff (completely uninstalled as there was alot of useless junk/plugins/data that I wanted gone) I am now getting this "This Connection is Untrusted" message on every single site I visit! It even says that the mozilla site is dangerous. So is there any way to disable these warnings?

Hello Rykuu, also, check the time and date of your system, if the date and time on the computer are wrong then security certificates may not be valid.
which security software do you have (firewall or/and anti-virus)?
    thank you

  • "This Connection is Untrusted" without the "I Understand the Risks" option?

I am running Firefox 33.1 on Windows 7 Ultimate. In the recent past I get the "This Connection is Untrusted" message every single time I sign into a hotel or airlines club to get access to the internet. The accompanying "I Understand the Risks" option is not present, just the "Get Me Out of Here." If I did not have Opera and Chrome and IE on my computer as a back-up I would not be able to access the internet other than when I am at home. Please do not suggest clearing cache and cookies. In my 30 + years of computing experience the only time that has helped is with a password issue, when a password seems to get locked in.

does it make a difference when you go into the firefox ''menu ≡ > options > advanced > network > connection - settings...'' and set firefox to directly connect to the internet (that's the 'no proxy' option)?

I need to update specific records(of variable lengths) in a file. I can get the correct record but when I update it(add or change info), it overwrites part of the record following it. I am using labview 6.0. I need to be able to insert information into the middle of a file without disturbing the data before and after

It's hard to give more specifics without more detail, but in general you're going to need to read in the entire file, split it into three pieces (everything before the record of interest, the record itself, and everything after the record of interest), modify the record, reassemble the three pieces in proper order, and write the whole thing back to the file.Of course if the file is very large you might not want to actually implement it this way, but conceptually at least, this is what you are looking at.If this file some sort of proprietary format?Mike...PS: this type of issue is why I really like databases...

    Hello,
    Thanks for contacting Mozilla Support!
Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache. In order to try to fix these problems, the first step is to clear both cookies and the cache.
Note: ''This will temporarily log you out of all sites you're logged in to.''
To clear cache and cookies do the following:
#Go to Firefox > History > Clear recent history or (if no Firefox button is shown) go to Tools > Clear recent history.
#Under "Time range to clear", select "Everything".
#Now, click the arrow next to Details to toggle the Details list active.
#From the details list, check ''Cache'' and ''Cookies'' and uncheck everything else.
#Now click the ''Clear now'' button.
Further information can be found in the [[Clear your cache, history and other personal information in Firefox]] article.
Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!
    Thank you.

  • I failed to Confirm Security Exception for a site confirmed to be trusted, but apparently only supported by Internet Explorer, and am now barred from the site, so how do I access it?

I have been successfully accessing a secure site using a Citrix plugin. The security certificate for the site was renewed on 17 September and is valid, but is apparently supported by Explorer. When I accessed it today, Firefox reported it as Insecure. I attempted to bypass the Firefox block, but must have failed to Confirm Security Exception, so that my access is now denied as I 'have said this is not a trusted site' (error 183). Is there any way I can now access the site.

    Thank you for your reply.
My problem isn't removing my log-in name and password for a site.
The problem is I already had the log-in name and password saved by FF, but I was required by the site to change the password. FF did not recognize that it had changed and refuses to prompt me to save the new password.
After several attempts to force the prompt, I deleted the site from the Saved Password list, hoping that the next time I entered my log-in name and password on that site FF would ask if I wanted to save both. That did not happen even after exiting FF and relaunching it.
So, right now FF will not save my log-in name and password for a site that it used track for me. Given the complexity of the new password, I really do not want to manually enter it every time I use the site.
    Regards.

  • How do I delete a Security Exception from the list of items where 'Confirm Security Exception' has been selected?

I looked at all the previous solutions, some of which were the same., but they didn't answer my question.
    Firefox 17.01
    Ubuntu 12.04
    If I go to
    Edit --> Preferences --> Advanced --> Encryption
it looks like 'View Certificates' is the likeliest place to look for the Security Exceptions resulting from me clicking 'Confirm Security Exception'.
I have looked at the five tabs on the next dialog box 'Certificate Manager', and the most likely looks like the 'Servers' tab.
On this tab, I can see that there is a button to 'Add Exception...', but nowhere to 'Show Exceptions', and the 'Add Exception...' button only provides means to add a new exception.

Correct: you can find the exceptions under the '''Servers''' tab. Unlike other entries, your custom exceptions should have the '''Server''' column filled out; this should make them easier to locate. Select an entry, then click the '''Delete...''' button.
